I thought I would share a little known app I have been using. This is a web based streaming media server. There is app support for Android and iPhone. The app is available in the market under SubSonic. Free! Donations accepted .... support the developers!
What is it?
In a nutshell, once the server is installed on your PC/MAC, you can share and stream your entire music library from your computer to your phone. You can also access your library from any internet connected computer with a web browser.
What OS's are supported?
The server runs on Windows, Mac and Linux. There is also a Desktop App compatible with Adobe AIR.
Where do you get it?

I also recommend this !! excellent
Looks really sweet for music buff like me will give it a shot.
Thanks for the share.
Not entirely free
The music server is free, unfortunately the apps to interact with it are free for 30 days at which point if you don't DONATE you are not able to use the apps anymore. Apps being 1 app per platform (iPhone, Android). There's no open source code for the apps already written so in order to use Subsonic you have to pay within 30 days.
You could use it free of charge indefinitely if you want to access your music from the local website it creates via another pc/mac. But if you want the use of it from your phone you'll have to pay up I think about $12 USD bc its like 10 Euros or something. Just fyi for those who haven't tested the software. I do admit it is an awesome setup but be sure and be honest about the applications people must use to interface with it which are developed by a 3rd party and require a donation to the main Subsonic project before 30 days.
ehh subsonic is nothing compared to mecanto...i couldnt get subsonic to work at all, plus after a 30-day trial of phone streaming it requires a 10 pound or more "donation"...no thanks.
mecanto > subsonic.

You not being able to get subsonic to work is not subsonics fault.
Subsonic is a fantastic app and well worth paying for. Even without the android app, you can use the web interface to access all your music and it works really well.
mecanto is free, and needs no stupid **** like port forwarding...all you do is sign in on your phone and/or the pc and its all there. FREE.
nuthug subsonic all you want but it's inferior and only free for 30 days...do the math.
Come on people, are we that cheap? I am sure the author spent quite the time developing the app, and the server is a free media streamer after all. What are we complaining about?
The application is not very polished or very pretty but it certainly does the job, and considering it what it looks to be a one man project it is not so bad after all, just something to think about.
Subsonic>Mecanto
Subsonic has a gorgeous interface and slick look, I love the giant album art, they recently added a shuffle feature, it progressively downloads your songs so its not keeping a constant data connection, the quality is dead on, and the web interface is fantastic. The only thing the android app is missing is a widget. I would say its 100% worth the donation. I mean come on 15 bucks, I waste more money than that on McChickens in one week.
Mecanto on the other hand works perfectly well also and I will give it points for only requiring a user name and password to get things set up. But its got a boring interface, also no widget, and I didnt care enough to even see if it did album art or shuffling.
So just donate to Subsonic and you'll even get a spiffy web address to make set up easier. However I feel that anybody worth their weight in salt should be able to set up port forwarding...
Mecanto isnt free if u have a decent amount of music, ITS 12 dollars a year or 1.99 a month...
compared to subsonic which is 12 for life and gives you a free domain name (which cost $10 a year normally)
mecanto is garbage, runs slow, looks like garbage.
SUBSONIC ALL THE WAY!

Hello
We’re a few developers who have tried to develop this application Avot mV, running on most of Windows mobile 5.0 and newer phone with the idea of searching and playing any video from video sharing sites like YouTube, Google Videos, DailyMotion and other web locations.

This looks pretty cool. I'll give it a try and let you know how it goes. Thanks!
Man this is really great work. I don't see why that app hasn't got any resonance yet if you think about all the tcmpc streaming approaches...
The only cons i find is that you can't chose the site you want to search (e.g. only veoh.com, or only youtube.com). A menu in which you can demand a specific site as source would be wonderful.
and then, the screen format is odd. if it ran fullscreen, most videos would fit, but this way they are either cropped or shown in the wrong size. specially in non-landscape mode.
but other than that, it works perfectly. video and audio stream very stable over wifi with my prophet annd without overclocking, which isn't the case with tcmpc and flashvideobundle.
keep up the good work, this is what people wanted for a long time, obviously
does this work over EDGE?
This is a pretty cool program. Please continue to develop it.
I have to agree with E_Shinobi though, it would be nice to have an option to only surf one type of site. Maybe add a menu for users to pick if they want to view Youtube videos or Google videos.
Is there a list of all supported sites? What other sites will we be able to view in the future? I know there are a lot of them these days.
Very nice program, but not all results show at this time. But I assume this is something you are working on. Also, if I accidently hit a key, like the start menu key, the program gets glitchy.

Theoretically, yes. However, depending on where you are, your EDGE signal might not be able to provide enough throughput to stream the video at full speed. In fact, I'm going to hazard a guess at "yes, but..." if you let the video buffer, you should be OK. I just tested the service on AT&T's EDGE in South Jersey (four bar signal), with a 15 second clip from Google Video, and it was OK, a long buffering time, a little stuttering towards the middle, but otherwise OK. I also tested it with a six minute clip from YouTube called the "Hubblecast" (Hubblecast 07, to be precise) and it stuttered a little, but that might have been the CPU being a little overloaded. After about 30 seconds, it seemed to hang. It might be just too much visual complexity, but it's also possible that EDGE just isn't fast enough to keep up. After a pause for 20 seconds or so, the video played OK, until it hung again. When I switched over to WiFi, I experienced similar results. So the problem might be the Dash just isn't fast enough to handle Atov at this early stage, or the servers are being slammed and destroying quality of service.
My biggest disappointment is the lack of a full screen option, or an option where the video is properly scaled, and not just smashed into the available space. Also, I'm using this on my Dash, and the thing seemed picky about how much RAM was available. I'm using the stock T-Mo firmware, and after running a few apps, it's hard to free up more than 5 MB or so, but that seems to be just enough.
This thread needs to be bumped.
Runs choppy on my Mogul, I think it's because of a directdraw issue with the mogul. Is there any way to change the output driver to GDI? How does it handle compression, I don't have flash installed, and it still streams. I would love to hear some more details on how the program actually works.
Dustin
running quite well on my wizard sometimes a little choppy, also couldnt work out how to get full screen but that was probably just me.
On my tornado, when the video is playing, I can't stop it, it just hanged while the video is playing.
Pressing home button, I can see the home screen blinking behind the video, but then late the video overlap it back
have been looking for somthing like this for some time so will defiantly be giving it a go thanks

Thats for the heads up. Midomi are in the marketplace too. You have to pay upfront ($5 / £3.19) but song searches are free. However - It does not actually work on my HD2. Seems like its not recording properly or something. I have emailed their support and they said they would work on an update.
For now I think your Shazam find is our best option.
Should be free indeed.
But I don't understand. WHERE AND HOW TO BUY IT?
Once the application is installed there is a menu option to buy the application.
I'm trying to install it but I can't find it through markeplace application and I can't find it on the website.
Is there any special procedure ?

Thanks, because if we had to wait for the MarketPlace to propose it, we would have to wait for years
Thanks a lot for the info Xeon
midomi is better
What is the difference between that and the previous (free) MusidID we had ?
For a working Midomi on HD2, you have to use the Subzer0 version from this post : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=4353929
Actually I find much more things with Shazam. Although Midomi is good but trust me Shazam is load better.
Omg so 'ZIT' ("cuz we'll spot the record for you", "based on a complex listening system that also helps the government spy on you" - see gta iv) actually exists in real life? wow, just wow
edit: downloaded and installed, and yea, wow, it actually works, good too, tried some old hiphop songs and it knew all :O
I have a sneaky feeling Apple sponsored the iPhone version as you get the link to iTunes where you can buy the song. That's probably why this isn't free and that is.
Having used shazam and midomi on the iPhone, shazam works a lot better. Assuming of course that they work in the same way (which im 99% sure as they send the data to their server!)
I cannot get Shazam to work on my HD2 here in Denmark. It wants me to set it up but comes up with the error message "Sorry, we couldnt set up Sahazam at this time!".
Has it something to do with copyright issues and the phone companies in Denmark might have blocked this option?

Did you install the one in the first post? Weird that should work, actually if it is banned I believe you will not be able to send/receive through internet but as for the installation , that should work.
Denmark is know to be rather a very liberal country, so I guess Shazam is not banned there
I installed it from the Marketplace. The installation succeeds without problems but the program states "press setup to agree on terms and..." and then it fails when I press "setup".
I just tried to uninstall and use the .cab file on page 1. Same problem.
Tried both wifi connection and regular 3G.

Love it! Installed yesterday, working fine, nice interface... TV on Android!
Sweet, this must have just came out, I was searching for it Wed. night. Have to wait till I get Home to update my HTPC to Beta6 before I can try it out.
Thanks!
Thanks!
Great app
I am less enthusiastic about it, I already sent them a mail. I downloaded the mac version from their website and installed the beta 6 android version on my phone.
Connection is fast but everytime I connect to my mac my wallpaper on my mac disappears. Instead of that, I will get a blue background. Also I have to set the quality settings again everytime I connect. As my mac has a -1900x1200 resolution it looks like sh#t on default start up.

Thank you for sharing!
I looked for it in the beginning of the week, and couldn't find it. Been using it a lot on my iPhone 4, hence why I really wanted/needed it on my Android device too.
Will give it a go over the weekend

Does not connect to a client configured with the IP address as ID, does connect to a client with a session number.
Come on guys, it's Teamviewer... do you like the original app? It's just the same. You can't connect to an IP (it ain't VNC!), you can choose to keep the remote wallpaper or not (as it was correctly said before), you can even choose to stress on Quality or Speed, you have your usual TV login to manage your regsitered PCs... what else? I'm so happy with that, as VNC regularly killed any java program running on the remote pc upon connection. By my need, Android is now fully functional!

TVMC is an unofficial offshoot of XBMC created by TVADDONS.AG which gives you everything (such as the best addons and customizations) you need preconfigured, ready to use immediately.
If you've ever tried watching your favourite movies or television shows on the internet through streaming web sites, you've probably been irritated at least once or twice by the abundance of ads and popups. You'll now be able to watch online streaming content through a video-on-demand interface, online streaming web sites are converted into simple VOD-style menus, rather than being viewed through a web browser.
You'll be able to watch pretty much anything that's available online, meaning you can watch any movie, television show, or sporting event without any limitations whatsoever. There are a ton of different addons built-in which provide enough content to last a lifetime, and because all it's doing is accessing existing online content (as your web browser would) it's totally legal, unlike apps like Popcorn Time which redistribute content that you're watching.
XBMC is a free open source media player which normally requires manual configuration after installation in order to access online streaming content, a key application feature. It can be sideloaded to your device and will probably be readded to Google Play as a free application in the near future.

We're very proud of this release! Enjoy!
I run XBMC on a number of devices (mainly Android) and also assist other family members with their setups
This will be very valuable for the more distant members of my family to get a decent setup going without hours of phonecalls.
Many thanks for all your hard work.
hey....
first of all thanks for this, i've been using showbox and i think this is a great alternative!
But, so far every video link crashes the app. force closes sometimes prematurely and sometimes i hear the episode starting while force closing, weird.
any suggestions?
Excellent so glad you have made this release, I have been using your fusion installer for a couple of years on the various XBMC/Kodi builds and appreciate all the work you do. Keep up the good work.
TV Addons are the go to guys for any XBMC/Kodi issues or updates. Knowledgable, friendly and fun, TVMC will be a huge success, I have no doubt.

Hey, Welcome to the thread which contains some apps rha have material design.
First i want say that this thread doesn't contain any Google Apps(Gapps).
So Lets go
1.Action Launcher 3 Here
Sure, there’s the Google Now Launcher if you want the Googliest home screen possible, but Action Launcher gives your phone or tablet a Nexus-style look with more customization. There are plenty of icon pack choices and the QuickPage, which is a custom home screen you can get by swiping in from the right edge.

}
2.Cabinet Beta Here
It’s had a long go in beta, but Cabinet is a pretty stable and desirable file manager with a slick, material design look. It uses the floating button well, letting you create a new remote connection, folder, or file.
3.Swift keyboard Here
SwiftKey has gone all-in on with themes, with choices ranging from the minimalist to the ridiculous (Frozen, anyone?). On the material design, front, however, there are two excellent keyboard choices that match the new design of Google’s keyboard but add in more functionality. They’re $0.99 each, but well worth it.
4.Field Trip Here
Field Trip is a clever app for when you’re traveling or just out and about and want to discover more about what’s around you. It will ping you with details about restaurants, sites of historical snippets, or other places that you wouldn’t normally pick up through just a Google search or perusal of Yelp.
5.WEATHER TIMELINE Here
It’s too rare to find a great “Android only” app that shows off the best of the platform. Weather Timeline has done this with its weather application. It also has excellent Android Wear implementation, pushing out weather alerts and putting the forecast on your watch. It’s only $0.99, so grab it and support great development efforts like this.
6.NUMIX CALCULATOR Here
The stock Android calculator does the job, and it too has a new material theme if you’re running Lollipop. But if you want something that looks great and has a few more features then go with Numix Calculator Pro. It saves your calculation’s history and swings in with additional capabilities when you swipe through the keyboard.
[/SIZE]
7.Source News Reader Here
Feedly is still undergoing a material redesign, so while you’re waiting, or if you just want to explore another alternative, check out Source News Reader.
8.LUMIFIC-Pic Gallery Here
Lumific is a beautiful photo gallery application for anyone that isn’t happy with the stock photo gallery app that comes preinstalled on their device. While there are many great features within Lumific, one notable feature is the ability to order photo prints from Lumific through Snapfish by HP. Now you can have any photo taken with your camera printed out to keep and to share. Lumific also takes similar photos and recreates them into GIF images automatically, and it now integrates with Dropbox to sync photos for backup.
9.PLAYER FM PODCAST Here
Podcasts are a great way to consume the content you love if you don’t have the ability to read it, and Player FM Podcast adds in loads of useful features for anyone looking to start listening to podcasts. To start, it’s cloud-based, which means you can listen to it across devices. It’s also equipped for offline playback so you can still listen to stuff even without a data connection. You’ll also never have to worry about not being able to listen to an entire podcast all the way through, since play history will let you resume from where you left off.
10.NOVA LAUNCGER BETA Here
Nova Launcher Betas include new features and fixes before they are released to all users. However they also are not as well tested and may not be as reliable. Betas are best for people who don't mind when things temporarily break a little bit.
11.WHATSAPP (MD)(OFFICIAL)(BETA) Here
If you've been waiting for that special day when messaging app WhatsApp could be updated with the Material Design of Android 5.0, the good news is that day is here. You won't find this update in the Google Play Store yet, no matter how hard you try.
great! thanks
