[Q] All Htc Phones!!!?? - General Questions and Answers

I have a simple question.. is there a simple answer?
It seems that all HTC phone, 720p or less have bad audio quality on videos recorded with the phone, as if the bitrate is 1600 or below. I am positive that the hardware on these phones are able to do MUCH better, downloading a stand alone audio recording program called "HERTZ" proves this. Can someone shed more light on this issue? Thanks

[Q] Audio Quality on Recordings. Video Attached.

I know this may be a repeat, and if so i apologize. I tried searching the forums but there was nothing in relation to this issue specifically....
I went to a concert on New years with a buddy of mine (who has an iphone 4), and we both recorded videos. The video quality on the NS seemed to be better than the 'iPhone 4", however the nexus audio quality in the video recording was just horrendous. the iphone 4 played the exact same video with lower video quality, but crystal clear audio.
on the NS you could hear nothing but BASS levels. Can anybody explain to me:
1. Why this happens on the NS and not on the iphone4?
2. Can this be solved with using an external headset?
3. Will this be fixed in any patches (720p recording, etc) or is it a hardware issue?
I'll upload the two videos for you to compare.
Edit: I'll have to get the actual video file from the iphone, but this should give you enough of an example.

may have something to do with the software based noise cancellation
Wait, is the Nexus S not hardware based noise cancellation? Correct me if im wrong, but the nexus 1 had a second microphone just for this?
Unless this is patched, this might be a dealbreaker for me as I use my camera recording, and audio recording frequently.

yup NS only has one microphone, i believe it is because there are some new noise cancellation stuff in 2.3...that doesnt really work
unless we are dealing with the some audio auto gain, like the same problem found in the SGS phones
Thanks for the response guys, this might just be reason enough for me to go back to the N1 until the NS has better updates.

Noisy video

Any video I record on the Desire S seems way noisier (wind noise) that on the old Desire. Youtube Desire S videos are the same.
Any solutions?
I think the only way is to keep the hand in front of the microphone.
I wonder about a baffle of some sort then
Hi ,
I also have the same problem.
There was an option to record video without Audio.
I checked it.
Still the noise is coming.
Anybody tried anything else?
Otherwise Desire Sis a great phone.

Any Post-V10d video samples?

Cant find any video samples showing what 1080p looks like after the v10d update.. I heard the full hd is much better but i cant find any samples.. anyone?
The Simple fact is why would we buy a 3D phone and record things in 2D ? we are all doing 3D films.
Here is a quick sample I just took outside on the new firmware.
Its definitely better with the newer firmware but i believe there are still improvements to be had as the bitrate of the video is still only 10 megabit/s and can probably go a bunch higher.
My real problem is with the audio. It's pretty piss that we have 1080p 2D and 720p 3D but the audio is still this ****ty 32khz 64kilobit overdriven and compressed to **** tripe.

What I don't get is the phone has two microphones, the normal one and the sound cancelling one. Can it not address them both independently?
If it can (which I would expect it would be able to) then why this ****ty mono sound when we could at least have ****ty stereo? It would at least be a start in the right direction.

Interesting fact about camera

Has anyone noticed that camcorder on Desire S records videos at only ~22 FPS? No matter how good light conditions are and regardless of recording resolution/bitrate - video always comes out at ~22 FPS (or less in low light conditions).
This is not because of hardware limitations, but because of camera module itself. It has noticable lag when looking through viewfinder and, of course, camera can not record what the camera can not see (more frames per sec).
On the other hand, front camera can record video at ~29 FPS VGA! Bad quality, but yeah, more FPS.
Why, in Gods name, would HTC put such bad camera module on back and (in terms of video recording fps) and better camera on front?
What method are you using to determine the FPS?
If it is just a software issue than a custom ROM should resolve it.
I have used "GSpot" app, and I don't believe this is a software issue, as I'm on my 5th custom rom.
Also, I don't think that my unit is faulty or something, all desire s cameras are like this (compared). Its a shame, because video quality is quite nice, but fps...
http://www.100fps.com/how_many_frames_can_humans_see.htm
yeah i noticed that the other day i thought it was because i had an 8gb class 2 mem car but i recently got a 16gb class 6 and it still looks choppy and if as u say its and hard wear defect or they did it on purpose then their is no easy fix
this sucks. it kindof defeats the point of having 720p when the fps is less than 30...
Yh this is the one thing which is annoying but not a major disadvantage. Hope there is some software which can rectify this.

Did 4.4.2 solve low FPS video recording in low light?

I sold my Nexus 5 bought at launch because of this issue. The video camera simply records awful videos in low light, more specifically, at 20 fps.

Recently, I've heard that 4.4.2 update solved this issue, even though no website wrote about this, I was quite amazed.
One friend sent me a couple of videos. It is easy to say that they are smooth, like all video recordings should be.

Can anyone confirm this?

Let's see. Is your thread title a question? Is there a q&a forum here Besides the general forum? Would a search have answered your question?
But yeah, the answer us that on 4.4.1/4.4.2, video mode on nexus 5 puts framerate on a high priority. It tries to maintain 30fps during record in
However, in low light conditions, each frame is short(33ms) and does not capture a lot of light. The video may be darker than before. You could so some post processing to turn up the brightness

I am looking to sell my gs4 and get the n5 because of the updates, smoothness etc. The video recording is a deal breaker for me because of the low framerate. It is a shame to watch and share videos at such a low fps.
I'm not sure if they will ever solve the hissing audio ...
