Advanced task killer? - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

It's not killing anything. Does anyone know why this thing isn't killing apps?

Because task killers don't work in 2.2 anymore?

Well, is there anything I can use to make these programs not start up unless I want them to?

Autostarts
Task killers aren't a good idea on Android, and autostarts only really decreases boot times.

So by having programs NOT start, that doesn't affect processor speed?

Dont install ATK if you updated to FROYO. MY EVO kept rebooting over and over. I had to take the battery out and do a hard reset.

Do you guys think this app is safeto use

The app is called tikl. Its a push to talk app, I question it because it has access to allot on the phone, more than any app I've ever used before.

I use it with no issues. It uses ur phone number to do a data call. That does use a lot of permissions. Plus waking from sleep. Its a good app

Seems generic as hell, I know. Fyi: The icon looks like a pc tower with a pie chart in front of it.

thats stock in samsung 2.2
LOL. Its androids 2.2 native task manager. I only laugh because I thought the same thing when the first froyo leak dropped way back. Generic looking is the perfect way to describe it.
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Hah! That explains why I froze in recovery after trying to wipe it with tibu. When it refused to run along I kinda figured it was native

Freezing stock messaging app no mms

Hey guys I just found a little problem with freezing the stock messaging app and using gosms. It seemed to happen only recently with no other changes but I couldn't receive any mms, but I could send them fine. Anyone else run into this?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
Yes. You shouldn't freeze or uninstall the stock app. Just deactivate the notifications.

I'm pretty sure in the disabling option in GOSMS there's a message saying that it can cause instability issues with MMS.

So what is the problem? Just don't uninstall the stock SMS/mms and you'll be fine. The stock is part of android and is needed.

Just trying to save ram and bat lol
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I997 using XDA App
You don't need to save ram with android. If your using a task killer that's probably where your battery drain is coming from.
Read this and you'll understand a little better.

Worried about RAM? Why? Just curious. What exactly are you doing with your Infuse that you need to spend time worrying about RAM?

Task killing with the newest versions of android is pointless. You can tweak multitasking to better suit either battery needs or overall performance or mix the two. Using a task killer is just silly now lol. Unless you're an Android expert (in the sense of understanding every process and how the apps work) then just let android handle tasks itself.

So basically, just keep all the apps running?
What if the device becomes sluggish because of so many apps open for so long?

By default it will kill apps when it needs more ram, you should back out of apps to kill em instead of home buttoning and leaving them in memory.
Plus most apps you kill will just restart them selves as some just run in the background

V6 super charger worth it?

I've been reading a lot about v6 and I'm considering running the script ....but I've heard mixed reviews about it on cm roms. Anyone here have any input?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Yes. Nandroid, install, try, revert.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda app-developers app
If i don't like it the only way to get rid of it is by restoring a nandroid backup?
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
There's an unsupercharge option in the script

Yeah, but I prefer nandroid to make sure all traces are gone.
IMHO the phone is pretty snappy after Maz's kernel. I don't see a need to further charge it as it may explode

Its snappy with his kernel i just like Modding/tweaking too much lol
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
Well, its installed.
Sent from my LG-P999 using xda premium
So its installed and running. Applications open and close much faster and may even be running a little smoother. However my homescreen is extremely glitchy and laggy lol. I'm going to play around with it and see if i can smooth things out. If not, ill restore the nandroid i made prior to running the script. Pretty cool little mod though to say the least.
Well it was a fun little experiment but the super charger did more harm than good. Apps executed quicker and seemed to run smoother but home screen navigation was extremely buggy/laggy and I even had the scrolling option in the super charger settings set to "fast." So I am now in the process of restoring my nandroid lol.
