It has become too difficult to navigate the US availability thread with the frequent new posts and discussion on several different stores. I was wondering how many people ordered from Best Buy and for those who did maybe answer a few questions to see where we all stand. When I ordered everything looked good but like many I was emailed about six hours later saying it was on backorder. If we could start a thread with the following basic questions answered I think it would be helpful to see where we (those who haven't received our order) stand.

Ordered on the 26th @ 630am with ship to store w/in 3 to 5 days. My order says "in process" when I check the status it says "checking in store inventory" for the past 2 days. I called BBY and the said it will be at the store by 5/11. I live in WI, but I say some people on the west coasts already arrive at the store. The stores in my area get shipments Tues. and Fri. so hopefully it will arrive before the 11th.
ordered 3:15 AM It has been shipped but was delayed and will not be her until tomorrow.

Did you do site to store? or UPS. I only ask because my status never says back ordered.
Site to store vs UPS
From reading other threads it seems like those that ordered ship to store have been getting their items while those that choose regular shipping perhaps are not. I cannot confirm this but I'm curious to see if thats what is happening.
When I talked with customer service. I asked if I did UPS shipping would it have come quicker she said that stores have priority after pre orders are sold out.

My story seems odd as people who did the exact same after me are getting their units.

When I placed my order it gave me a 5/11 delivery date to the store. When I called CS they said the same thing. Maybe you overlooked it. Call CS and they will tell you when you item will arrive.

I placed an order with AT&T Premier at 3am on Tuesday.
Ordered two black 16gb.
Order status was immediately at backordered but changed to processing.
I wish they gave free overnight shipping but best I got was free two day.
So it if ships on the 30th (tuesday), Looking at a Thursday delivery day!

There you will be able to see if you are on backorder. This works even if you are a premier customer.

ATTBrandon says that att will start shipping on April 23. (This upcoming tuesday)
Lets hope its true.
It is now clear that the phone is on backorder for late orders since some emails are coming in to people saying their order is backordered.

Dont worry. From my experience I never get the emails like "your order has finished processing and is ready for shipment" This does not mean anything. If you check your order status and it says that backordered quantity = 0, you're good to go. If it says 1, dont worry it might change on the day att begins shipping. If you ordered very late, than you will have to wait if backorder = 1.
Should I cancel and try to pick it up in store?
This is entirely up to you. There is no guarantee you will be able to pick it up in store.
ATT Support/Chat said "So and So"
Dont listen to att support. Whatever they tell you when you call or chat online regarding your order, unless they tell you there is a problem with your order is all false. They know as much as you do, maybe even less.

I guess we'll see whether it gets here thursday the second or friday the third (fingers crossed!)

That's pretty much in line with what AT&T has said. On or around the 3rd for delivery.
I ordered mine right after the site went live. At the beginning of the order it said ships April 30th. However, halfway through the order process, there was a page that mentioned April 26th. It was either "ships by" or "delivered by." Then at the end of the order, it went back to "ships on April 30th. I'm wondering since AT&T was supposed to be one of the first carriers to have the S4, that the "April 30th ship date" is just a precaution and they might quite possibly be delivered on April 26th.
Anyone else notice this?
Ordered at 7am est on Tuesday. Had to do it over the phone to get an early upgrade but I chose overnight shipping. The order status just says processing. Where is everyone seeing the ship date and such?

I honestly feel like they will ship before the 30th. The 30th date seems like an insurance policy against delays, but I bet they want to be first. Who knows. Wishful thinking.
Around or before May 3rd my status says on the AT&T premier site. Not a official ups or FedEx tracking yet .

I think you may be on to something. I dont understand how if I go on att's site it still says "your device will ship on april 30". No way preordered have held this long. Unless samsung has sent a few million of them. What's the point of holding on to them when there are already ordered in place and they have the stock.

I ordered Wednesday, and called back Thursday to cancel and they said I couldn't because it was being prepared to ship, but my status does not say warehouse. I'm PO'd because I want a free accessory or money off, especially if the other stores will get it first, what the F is the point of a pre-order if everyone else does it cheaper or offers more, AND delivers it earlier. I will return mine and goto best buy, very annoyed at AT&T for not cancelling my order.
I ordered mine from at&t a few days ago. Should have it may 1st as i paid for overnight shipping.

Wooo! Just doing my regular obsessive "galaxy s4" search in google and saw the news. I'm leaving the country May 2nd and only got standard shipping without the ability to change (ordered in store) so this is amazing news for me. Thought for sure I was gonna get the phone May 3rd and be pissed lol

I'm thinking about ordering a 2nd Galaxy S4 but off contract. My family plan is full so I can't add another $10/month line. I can however add a brand new plan...my question is if I add a new plan w/2 year contract Galaxy S4 for $199...then cancel the plan immediately (ETF for $325) will my total charges just be $525 (phone + etf)? Or are there other hidden charges like I still have to pay for that first month of service on the new plan? And do they disable or blacklist the phone you ordered when you cancel and pay an ETF? This seems like a much better deal to get an "off contract" phone than paying the $639.99 for the same exact thing...am I wrong?

a lot of reports say its still not 100% confirmed but I think it is.
I noticed that it is on backorder with all of the places. Is it possible to call gamestop and do a order over the phone or just wait for them to get stock?

You can stop in a GS Store and order one to be shipped directly to your house.
As of Last night they still had them in stock.
Free standard shipping or overnight if you want to pay.
Ordering over the phone won't magically get you one when they arent in stock.
If you are extremely lucky your local gamestop might have one on the shelf. I typed a random zip code (98547) and found 2 stores with in 100 that have stock.
Just got one from GS, they ordered it in store and should have it Tuesday.

Hmmm didn't realize that was possible. I was by a Gamestop yesterday and asked about one and te clerk told me that since no-one reserved one, they won't have it for a while. No-one offered to order one for me. One guy didn't even know what system I was talking about. It seems that there is a knowledge discrepency among employees. Maybe I'll try another store and ask specifically that question. Or else I'll just wait a few days and order one online. Thanks for the info.
Yea it depends on who you talk to. The rep had to order it through there online system, he referred to it as the gamestop webstore. Pay for it instore and they will ship it to you. As of today they still had stock.
I finally got my Shield!!
I placed a order online(webstore) for my Shield on July 31st instore at my local Gamestop here in Anchorage AK. I was told 48 hours later that the Shield was currently on backorder status and that the order should have never been placed. The agent told me that the same Gamestop had received a Shield. The Gamestop assistant manager and the Gamestop customer service agent were able to let me walk out of the store with the Shield and handle the transaction. The Shield is awesome and worth jumping through hoops to get.
Nvidia needs to work on stocking the Shield and accessories locally. Currently I have a Shield case and Carbon Fiber tag on order with Newegg. Both are waiting here in AK for a sometime tomorrow delivery. I can't wait!!!!!

Just picked mine up at my local Best Buy in Arlington, TX. There were still 2 left in the box when I left!
They had 5 in stock in the Woodlands, TX this morning when I picked mine up. Online they did not show anything so it would be best to just swing by.

I ordered mine from AT&T and is supposed to ship on 18th (today) , but still says "preparing to ship"
Just received a reply to the email I sent to Samsung on Monday.

After the Note fiasco, you'd think they would have been better prepared for upcoming releases of whatever device it may be.
Just picked up mine from at&t. They only had one and only the supply person new they had it. Just hooked it up to my lg v20. Everything seems to work as advertised. I do use the at&t service called numbersync so it does receive calls and texts from my lg v20's phone number.

So if you ordered directly from Essential your phone is most likely shipping(or has shipped) soon, but what about us who have ordered through other retailers?
I'm making this thread specifically for everyone else, to avoid cluttering the shipment thread.
So far I have not yet gotten mine. Sprint has given me different numbers, from will ship from the 31st as it says on my order status page, to it will be shipping from the 8th. Retail stores, corporate stores all have received different information, but the general consensus is shipping will be delayed. Pre-Ordering in store will be avaliable starting today or tomorrow depending on your store.

yep, same thing here. Status page says shipped by 8/31, email says shipped by 9/1, website says 9/8. I spoke to some one via chat and it seems like 9/8 is the ship date. If i dont get a tracking number tomorrow then i will give em a call and see whats up

Sprints shipping page shows it'll ship by 9/8. I'm hoping that means it'll ship any day now. I also ordered the morning of the 17th. It's disappointing to see the note is shipping a week early and we are still waiting.

Agreed. I ordered mine through Sprint as well and see the same as you. Hopefully, it will ship out on 9/8 and arrive at the house soon after.

I ordered from Amazon yesterday (said they had like 9 of them in stock) and got estimated delivery on September 15 but nothing yet.

Install the update they just released and don't be in a rush to judgement. It took a little while to grow on me.

Yeah, I don't even have My Sprint loaded on it, which it was supposed to have.
Yeah it seems you can choose to leave it off your phone. Which is great.
