[IDEA] LocoRoco game clone - Android Apps and Games

Hi all, just signed up here, have been browsing around for a while.
I was thinking that LocoRoco or a LocoRoco like game would be ideal for any phone with a Gyroscope or Accelerometer; of which there are many.
I thought that LocoRoco would be ideal as it would not require any hardkey mapping, as the game, which is originally a PSP title, only uses the L and R keys to tilt the screen left and right. (Which could possibly be duplicated by tilting the phone left and right)
Unfortunately I have no developing skills so I would be useless if it came to helping with the development of it.
I searched to see if there had been any other interest in LocoRoco coming to Android or Windows Mobile, and fair to say there were 1or2 threads dating back to 2008-2009, but neither of which attracted a lot of attention.
Sorry I couldn't add a link to the game, new user restrictions
thanks, andy.

There's a very good chance we'll see PSP games in the Android Market sometime soon

Oh, that's good to hear
thanks

It's just speculation at the moment but rumour is the PSP2 will be a Phone, an Android phone at that, so they can compete better with the DS. It's a solid rumor, gone back ages and the Android link comes from Sony's new relationship with google and... let's face it, It's gonna be a smart phone if it does happen and they're not going to pick Symbian over Android especially after the success of the X10.
I don't think they'd scap their digital distribution they got started with the PSP Go, especially because each "PSP Phone" would have 3G. So it would either be a dedicated market just for PSP games or they would distribute them throughout the Android Market.
Who knows, perhaps the "PSP Phone" isn't a specific handset but them distributing via several on the android market (assumption would be they're locked only to SE phones but I'm sure this could be overcome).

Hate to say I told you so

i have locoroco running on my hero! well, its not exactly a native game. i had this java locoroco game for my previous SE phone and I used it with Jave ME on my hero and it works. perfectly.

Edit: nevermind. Posted a game name but ended up not being the same type of game

[REQ] Music/Rythym game?

First of all I hope this is in the right section.
I was hoping to find some awesome music/rythym games later in the Android Market.
Well, it's been about over a year since Android was released, and I still see a lack of good rythym games!
My request is for a developer to try their best and create a well-designed music game, hopefully using our own music from the SD card..
That would be awesome!
Do you mean like this?

Id like to see multitouch implemented somewhere in one of these games ...

No, I know this is on the market, but we need something better.
Guitar Hero mobile for Android wasn't exactly the best experience I've had.
I have been asking for this game to come to Android since I got my G1. Mainly looking for the NIN Edition!
http://tapulous.com/
Even sent them a request, but so far nothing has come of it. I recommend everybody request it, If there is enough support they might port it.

Can't post links yet, but this is the original thread starting from last year, stating that if theres enough demand, they'll try to port it.
some of you may have played it before but this is a steam game called Audiosurf
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=iTZTPdDW7PM
a game like this would be awesome on the nexus... basically it produces a unique track based off of each song for that song and its a sort of tetris game where you have to match the blocks up and such... was well worth 10 dollars on steam when it first dropped, i had countless hours of obsessed fun on the thing

That's a very good game, but it needs to ne refined more. But we REALLY need a game like TTR or Audiosurf, I have nothing against taps of fire, but I don't like playing on amazing. Too much for my thumbs.
Here is the link for tap tap revenge:

Everybody should request it so we can get it ported.
In the mean time, I found this:
http://code.google.com/p/tapsoffire/
Somebody mentioned it in this thread already, but I searched the market for it, but it didn't appear. It probably wasn't designed for the Nexus so it didn't show up, but there is a Droid version available from the Google code page. Free and open source!
One of the best music games is Taps of Fire. I have it installed, I recommend others to download this app too, only bad thing is having to hit the notes a little early, but its fine.

Space Trader Beta for Android is here!!! YAYYYYYY!!

For those of you that remember Space Trader for the Palm OS, there is a newly released beta version called Dark Nova.
http://code.google.com/p/dark-nova-android/wiki/BetaInstructions
I am not affiliated with these guys, just posting about one of the greatest games ever made. It is still in beta, and needs some work, but still, best game I have ever played.
hmm.. seems a lot like DopeWars but with some space-style graphics and more confusing gameplay.
This one has potential but they have a LOOOONG way to go before they will have a polished game ready for the masses.
There is no native way to close the game, going to different menus opens layers of windows which started fc'ing on me. After about 6 fc's I was back at the main commander screen.
Even if it doesn't fc you still just go back one page if you hit the back button so if you warp to another planet and hit the back button then you are instantly back where you started??
Good start though. Now that they've proven their concept I hope they make a game out of it

*edit- I played it for 10 minutes or so and found several things that are almost identical to DopeWars. Buying and selling stuff, buying and equipping weapons, traveling and being stopped by a raiding party, the bank...
Seems like a very similar concept to me..

Its what I said it was. SPACE TRADER. It was a game built for the Palm OS and kicked major ass. I guess you could find similarities with dope wars, but it is different.
And yes, it is still in beta. The more people that help out, the quicker it gets polished. It is brand spanking new. If you ever played Space Trader, you would certainly LOVE this game, as I believe it is an exact replica, but with better graphics, and I think they added more missions.
it is similar to dopewars. jsut because it is set and space and has some diffrences does not mean he isnt right.
Its nto a bad start for a beta, i am sure the origonal was great and fans of it will liek this.
you dont have to get defensive though when someone differs with your opinion or compares it to something else

I said you can find similarities, and we both said it has its differences. I don't think I was being defensive. Plus, if you never played the original, and haven't really played it, I don't think you have standing to compare it really. You can speculate, but at least say "never played it, but seems similar to this...".
Would you say all FPS's are the same? Probably not...I think you see what I am trying to say.
Dude, are you paid by the devs to post these bs responses? Man, if they're similar, they're similar. Get over it. You just said u weren't being defensive and continued with another defensive post.
And yes, all fpses have obvious similarities and that's why they fit into the fps genre. It's not like the dude called it a dopewars RIP or clone.
All spelling errors thanks to xt9 on my Evo!
you are being defensive again. I acctually have played the origonal i played this and see that is is the same game as origonal however the new interface is cluncky and there are TONS of fcs. No one said it is the same. We said it was similar and under your new criteria i CAN say that. I hope they can make it work and make the FCs go away and the interface a little more polished.
i wouldnt say all FPS are the same but i would say they are all similar.
I'm not sure if this is a zone defense or a 3-4 he is running..All I'm seeing is blitzing!!
ROFL, paid by the devs. Yeah....I get .00001cent for every download lol. Sorry folks. LAST TIME I will ever post any new beta that is out there. My fault for assuming people with too much time on their hands could be mature!
Middle Earth (the original) Space trader, as well as Dope wars, were once Amiga CNet BBS addon games in the late '80s - '90s. They were also made into "doors" addon games for IBM BBS, back in the days before the WWW. Similar and fun. Though you played against other people and only had one turn every 24hrs..

Seriously bro, calm down. Or just stop posting. You are the only one in this thread who has not been mature about YOUR thread.. I thought it was a decent start of a game. My comparison to DopeWars was a compliment, DopeWars is a classic and I restore it everytime I flash a new rom
I think there is a lot of potential for this game. I would suggest that you follow your own advice about not posting about any more beta software if you can't handle a little feedback that isn't "LIKE ZOMG WHERE HAZ THIZ GAME BEEN ALL MY LIF3??!!"
I'm glad they ported your favorite game of all time to the EVO and I hope it matures into a paid-on-the-market worthy game..

Why is gaming on Android still lacking of great companies?

I don’t understand why gaming companies such EA, Capcom, Square Enix, etc don’t offer the same amount of games that we can easily find on App Store?
I used to have on my iPhone games like, SF 4, NBA Jam, Dead Space, Metal Slug, Dragons Lair a many others that I cannot find on Android market.
Is there any explanation for it? Android as far as I know is the most popular OS so why those companies don’t develop games to Android?
And I know I can get ROMs for some games (like Neogeo – Metal Slug, King of Fighters etc) but it’s not the same, those ROMs are not really developed for Android, they are adapted so for me we cannot have the best of it.
Wouldn’t be cool to have a SF 3D for O3D? or Dead Space 3D?
Which games, in 3D, would you like to see it?
The only big company that I can see doing a great job is Gameloft, apart from them the rest is rest at the moment.
Shame that they are not treating Android with respect.
Several studies have shown that Android users are much less keen on buying apps than iOS users. Therefore, the large gaming companies you mentioned probably estimate the market for complex Android games is too small to be lucrative.

Perhaps they are not willing to buy because there are no "good games" at the moment?
I have bought 3 3D from Gameloft and will be buy more from them very soon.
In my opinion it is just a matter of what the marketing is offering if there is good games people would pay for it.
I think it may also be because android users are innate hackers. Kind of kills their bottom line.
If we really get "Onlive" on our Android devices like it was announced, gaming is going to take another direction. Try "onlive viewer" and check what gaming is all about.

I don't agree with that, it would be same idea for game consoles.
The gamers know that it is possible to get pirate games online and unlock their consoles, but I do believe that it's not everybody that does that and the same you can say about Android.
You have millions of people using the system and it's impossible to think that all these people would be hacking their phones.
Even iPhones can be unlocked (Jailbreak - Cydia) where you can get free stuff as well.
I really don't see much of logic if this is what these companies are thinking.

Its pretty easy to hack wii/xbox360/ps3 i have done that on all my consoles easy to hack iphone also android everything are hackable! So thats not a good excuse that the big companys dont make the good games to android its all about money and tactics from apples side. But as seen now it very soon will change alot more ppl having android phones today. Apple is at top now but they are close to fall in near future a company are at top for awhile but sooner or later its going to fall. Also its another reason that apple will fall steve jobs have quited. He is pretty good to talk so he had done alot for the company just becouse of hes way to talk about apple product! so hopefully in near future the game companys see its alot money to earn at android too just look at gameloft they earn pretty good for those android games becouse thats quality games its worth to pay for!

[Idea]PSXperia + PSX4Droid

Let's see:
PSXperia works substituting ZPAKs and APKs from the preloaded Crash Bandicoot ones. The resulting emulator seems to work with some games better than others. However, we're left hanging because we would need updates from Sony, which is unwilling to make them.
I've thought of something: we DO have an open source PSX emulator ported to Android. Would it be possible/desirable to somehow combine the two projects, so that we load things in the PSXPeria way and yet we get to have a more compatible emulator than what the official thing from Sony is?
I was thinking the same the other day.... you would think that the best solution would be a hybrid of the native emulator with another PSX android project.
as the native psx emulator is not open source, we have no source code to combine with another emulator

When this project was first announced, the question was: Can it be a better emulator than FPSE, which is quite honestly an amazing piece of software. It plays almost every single game, and at 90%+ speed, with small issues here and there.
The hypothetical answer was yes, because crash bandicoot plays SO amazingly well (it really does, it looks sexy too), its a superior psx emulator. But, unfortunately, we have found that Sony crafted their emulator on a GAME-BY-GAME basis...and therefore the emulator is actually a piece of sh*t lol (the sound seems to be the only thing that is absolutely superior)
I say we just move on. FPSE serves the purpose of playing psx games on xperia QUITE WELL. and is CONSTANTLY IMPROVING.
Now, if n64oid could just get itself up to par...

I find it a stretch to call the Emulator a piece of sh*t when firstly the games it does run right it runs almost perfectly, and second it was never intended to be used as something to inject any PS iso into. I would bet money that the devs at Sony who have access to the source code probably fix the emulator for whatever game they want to run in less than a day and can have it out on the market. In fact for all we know they are readying a huge library of games for the launch of the PS Suite. And once its fixed for the game it not only runs great it looks better than ever.
I'd say the emulator is a nice little feat of programming, its not the emulators fault we are using it not as intended.

With all due respect, I don't know why you constantly put down the native emulator in various threads regarding PSXperia and hold up fpse so highly. While I admit the native emulator is not as good as we all hoped, it stills runs a good amount of games (and even more with software rendering) and doesn't cost money. Also, who gives you the right to say "let's move on". Again, no offense, but I think the person who has the most say about the project would be the developer, aka me (and I also have my doubts about the project's life but for another reason). I know you mean no harm in your words, but I take it personally that you think the project is a waste of time.

You are ACTUALLY the FPSE poster boy.
The native emulator is not **** and if it could be modeled to play any game it would be leaps and bounds ahead of any emulator on the market.
I don't know about you but most of my favorite games run perfectly on the emulator and what wasn't working before does now with the software rendering.
I believe this project is still live as testing goes ahead my only concern about the project dying is Sony actually blocking that version of the emulator from their phones.

Sony are stupid tbh.
The Xperia Play obviously has the capability to run PS1 and PSP Games very well.
If they made a PS1 and PSP emulator and had around 50 ports of the best games on each system, the Xperia Play would be flying off the shelves.
But they didn't. Now the community is left to develop this most basic thing for themselves, and Sony blocks it from happening meaning phone sales aren't as high as they could be.
Gay. Gay. Gay.
This phone almost hit the mark, but i am beginning to think it will be the phone known for having the biggest potential, that it didn't quite reach.

What you're talking about is the PlayStation Suite which is coming. I tend to agree it was kinda stupid to release this before that was ready, but then again this phones hardware was a bit behind when it was released, if they waited till October or November when the suite is out it would be way behind.

You gota keep in mind, sony no longer have all the licences they had back then, nintendo took some, microsoft took the rest,
Resident evil 1 >> Licenced to Nintendo
Metal gear solid 1 >>>> Licenced to nintendo
thats just off the top of my head, i bet i could find loads more with a quick google search

Neither one of those games is "licensed to Nintendo". Capcom and Konami have created versions of them for Nintendo's systems, but the original releases still stand. Now Sony can't just re-publish the games on a different platform without permission, but if they wanted to they certainly can just ask (as they have done with other games). Its basically free money to those companies, I'm pretty sure they won't say no.

from wikipedia:
2002, a remade version of the game, known as Resident Evil in Western regions and as Biohazard in Japan, was released for the Nintendo GameCube. This was part of an exclusivity agreement between Capcom and Nintendo

you forgot the end of that sentence: "that spanned three new games. "
Also from Wikipedia:
"Resident Evil: Director's Cut Dual Shock Ver. was later released for the PlayStation 3 and PlayStation Portable as a downloadable game available from the PlayStation Network."
I would say that post dates a 2002 agreement.

crazy taxi just announced for ios in October what about android?

Ok crazy taxi by sega was just announced for ios but there was no word of android ,this will really piss me off if sega really leaves android out of this great dreamcast port ,& I would not be surprised because we still dont have soul calibur & its been on ios for over 8months already ,but this will be sad & disrespectful to android users if were left out in the cold
I think we will be left out. There are quite a few quality games that android doesn't get and it's a shame
Sent from my ASUS Transformer Pad TF300T using xda app-developers app
Let's hope. Don't forget Sega has been good to us android users of late. Every title (approx) this year has come out on both platforms. We also got football manager before IOS as well (makes a change) if jet set radio is coming to android there is a good chance this will too. Fingers crossed people. :fingers-crossed:

Lol that trailer just looks so rushed almost fake even but what weird is it specifically says ipod, iphone,&ipad like android is definetly left out ,i remember the soul calibur trailer being just like that not having android being mentioned at all , & they made sure they mentioned ios & android for jet set ,so either there very lazy or it really isnt coming to android ,but I hope it does come to android cause crazy taxi is my second favorite dreamcast game

LOL was thinking that when i watched all 11 seconds of that video. Maybe its not but lets hope a better version of this comes out first.
Then we can play what we want
Well, instead of wondering if they will bring it; how about we ask them to do it on their official blog?
I already did my part. I want this on my XPlay!
Wouldn't surprise me. iOS has a much lower piracy rate. So blame the people who pirate every app and game they come across for Android.
I am even more sad now that I hear that this is going to release tomorrow ios only
Good news is that there will be an android version releasing soon just no word when

Source?
Well the source for this I got from Google itself many many websites state that an android version is also coming soon ,just Google (crazy taxi on android) just make sure your search tool is on past 24hrs and you will see lots of websites saying sega confirms an android version ,im not surprised android does take way longer to optimize games for since theres so many different android devices, but I really hope xperia play is not left out since buttons would be great for this game ,i hope they dont pull a nba 2k13 & have it for 4.0 & up only
Found it written on the official Sega blog so its 100% Yay
Awesome!
Includes the original soundtrack! :victory:
Guys, it's not coming to Android.
No source on this, just pure common sense. It's now May - nearly June - that's nearly 8 months.
It's obvious why...
Fragmentation. It's really hard to build a game that works on a myriad of resolutions, iOS only has 5 resolutions, and two of those are @2x, making it easy to optimse for them.
Piracy. It's so so so so SO much harder to pirate apps on iOS than on Android. Some devs literally 'give up' on Android, and it's a shame that there are so many inconsiderate people who ruin it for the rest of the crowd.
It's harder. Apple has made sure to create really good tools for it's developers. Google's tools are intuitive, but nowhere near as intuitive as Apple's.
Overall, it's a shame. I really looked forward to having Crazy Taxi on the Nexus 7, but I guess that;s not happening.
making an ios app is much harder than making an android app
dont speak like that
android is best operating system for mobile phones and tablets
ios is just a tiny closed source os thati cant even get it on my hand for 5 mins
