Front facing cam - Captivate General

Has anyone figured out how to enable the ff cam? Where can I get the drivers?
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App

There is no front facing cam...do your research...

There is no Front Facing camera. What you see on the front are the light sensor and proximity sensors.

seriously? please have a clue about the phone you are using befor asking questions like this

Ha ha, that is a sensor bud. Your captivate will never have a front facing camera but you will not be last person to start a thread just like this and you were not the first person either so don't feel too bad.

Maybe get a webcam with microUSB connector, some tape, and the USB driver to turn the phone into a USB. Then all you need is a driver on the phone and you are all set.
It might not fit in your pocket.

Open any application that would access the camera
Use phone backwards
There you go forward facing camera

or if u can develop some sort of mirror system, attach it to the back camera, and use reflections as the image...

Problem Solved!
Here you go, the diagram is for the iPhone 3G but I assume it will fix your problem ha.

I used a highly reflective metal but it worked for me

A guy I work with helped design this thing for the iPhone.
http://www.isnapme.com/

based on measurements, that should work.
Although, I hope you have something to use to suction it against

now they need one for our phone and we good to go!

tim that's really cool. I'd buy.
i really dont know why they dont put the camera on a swivel so you can flip it around. No need for extra hardware, and its convenient for taking all sorts of pics.

The crucification is because the OP didn't search or do any basic fact checking.

Or the fact that it's painfully obvious that it's not a camera. Other than that, the simple logic that a feature such as a forward facing camera, if there, would be something advertised to counter Facetime or at least turned on in the FW if the obvious CCD was there.

[DIY] Nexus One Macro Lens (Amazing Macro Pictures)

So earlier today, I was feeling rather experimental with my phone, not software wise, but hardware.
Earlier that week I saw a picture of and iphone with a homemade macro lens on it, so I was said to myself- If someone could do that to there Iphone and still hold it right, why cant I do that with my Nexus One? So I did.
It was a lot of trial and error, but eventually I got it, and took amazing pictures, beyond what I ever thought was possible with a phone.
To think our Nexus One's can take almost professional quality photos! I think you will be just as amazed with these pictures as I am .
Please note: These pictures were not edited in any way, just resized for your viewing pleasure!

I know what your thinking! "Hey how do I make one of those snazzy lenses for my super phone?" Well there are many different ways I am guessing, but I will tell you my technique!
Materials:
-Super Glue
-Thick Gauge Wire
-More super glue
-Scotch/Electrical tape
-Disposable camera lens
-Pliers
If you dont have any of these materials, your looking at about $25-$35 USD.
Procedure:
1. Jack the camera lens from a cheapy disposable camera (anyway works, just make sure you dont dink around with the lens).
2. Wrap wire around the lens
3. Super glue it to the wire so it stays
4. Let it dry
5. Bend the wire so the lens fits directly in front of the camera sensor
6. Make it stay on your phone
7. Wrap electrical/scotch tape around the wire to avoid damage to your beloved Nexus One.
8. Take it for a test.
Remember- a lot of trial and error, so be patient. Also, these are very brief instructions- so be creative.
I am not responsible for any damage done to your phone or Camera, or anything.
Here is how mine looks:
If you like my idea and use it and post it around without giving me acknowledgment or credit, then you are clearly a basement dwelling virgin man child. Just sayin'
Please post comments on your thoughts, or if you do it, upload some pics and tell what you did and how it went, cause I am just as curious as you
Donations are appreciated, but never mandatory

What lens did you use exactly? Cause one a size up might get rid of the black ring around the pics. Then they'd be so sick. This is a creative mod and it works really well. Awesome dude.

Well, I wouldn't call "simple" a heavy brick in the pocket with two batteries but hey... better than nothing!
the adventage of two batterys it´s that normally you have the battery-led charge, but you need to recharge for to be power when you need to use it or change, with the inconvenient of power off, dismount, change and mount.
the ideal , if you use this size, it´s a long battery , and the led take power for the long-battery how on the original iphone 3d case-led, for example,
http://www.momax.net/en/Product_Show.aspx?ID=1312&T=1
but with a led incorporated, desing, durability, and the led, how difficult it´s to do it?
i bought a momax and i want to try to put a led,if it´s run ok send my idea here.

I assume Samsung understood this mistake and give us Galaxy S 2 WITH flash light. It is tiny light but better than nothing for poor light condition for the camera. Almost every devices in this range are equipped with some kind a flash light so why SGS is not?

one thing that i find strange is
Why are the 3 dot connectors on the same side as the power button? if u have it docked on the side how would u turn it on?
Seems abit silly which could indicate fake but its hard to call something real when its unreleased
But "what if" that is not a connector?
any theorys on what else 3 dots could do? 3 dots is pretty common for dock connectors
what if they are on both sides?
like ,for fingers, not to "slide" from hand ?

That doesn't make any sense at all. (No offense, just being brutally honest.)
The dock pin connectors belong on the other side but otherwise this is pretty much spot on.

The official teaser video showed the pins on the same side as the power button. The only thing I see that makes me doubt it is the lack of curvature on the screen.

What concerns me is the bottom bezel. It looks like there's a lot of black after the on-screen buttons on the bottom. Seems like a lot of wasted real-estate. In the leaked videos, it's even more apparent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py9TfZGie48

It looks nice and all but in the end, it's nearly the same as having an NFC tag on your keychain and scanning it even though it seems to offer some more possibilities. The real problem is that it takes the earphones port so you can't listen to your music while you use it.
Also, how do you remove it ?
I just want to know whether the phone needs to be 'unlocked' in order to access these functions. Say i want to take a photo, can i just whip out the phone and click it or do i need to unlock my phone (enter password) first? I wonder...
I saw that you can do it with the screen off so ill back it. seems cool enough
EDIT: so I asked the creator and he said it works when phone is locked with a pin. cool! i might get two now...

Can you plug headphones into it? It'll fit. Whether it becomes too recessed to press easily or not, who knows. Depends on the phone/case.
Still not sure if I love this idea or hate it. The only button I could really see on my phone as useful would be for the cam but would depend on how that button works with my case.
Sent from my shiny new(bought last Nov), scratch less Nexus 4!
They're shipping in March, only $27. I might just have to order one (Not affiliated, just sharing the info).
http://get.pressybutton.com/
Fascinating, I want one, but not sure if I really need one
I think virtually all cases will need have the speaker jack hole expanded, since I think this will have to sit a millimetre higher, and another millimeter wider than the hole itself. Also, you need to get your finger onto it!
Some DIY needed.
This is another awesome Israeli product
Looks very nice. I wonder how it goes with cases.
Did someone tried it already?
I nearly backed this project, but the only thing I could think of what I'd use it for is for the camera, but you can already use the volume rocker to take a picture.
$27 for a "button"... no ty, actually my headphones can do that
mmmm yeah ear phone jack not nice, now if it was bluetooth.....
I backed this early. For me, I don't want my power button to wear out as much so this is perfect for me. The gestures are nice touch as well.

Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the brightness ? Mine seems very dark currently and I'm on Slimcat Official Build 7

Not at the moment.
The lighting is exactly the same on my OPPO Find 7A which shares a lot of the same hardware as the OPO. I think it's a hardware issue otherwise we would have seen a fix for it by now.

Bummer this is my only gripe so far with this phone.
Please don't take this the wrong way but does it matter if they are not bright as they never change or move so you know where they are and what they do. I think it looks good the way it is because the front of the phone is very minimalistic except for the silver frame but that is uninformed around the hole screen. I thought the idea for the dim keys was to give a more stealth look to the phone, hence no branding in the front glass.

Yeah, I kind of wish they were brighter too.
A little brighter would be nice. Fortunately, I pretty much know where they are now without looking. I still miss the mark though once in a while. I am just thrilled they put the back button on the right, where it belongs, so I am not going to complain.
