Does anyone know if there is a way to adjust the brightness ? Mine seems very dark currently and I'm on Slimcat Official Build 7
I've tried the "Capacitive Buttons" apk and it's no help.....
Not at the moment.
The lighting is exactly the same on my OPPO Find 7A which shares a lot of the same hardware as the OPO. I think it's a hardware issue otherwise we would have seen a fix for it by now.

Bummer this is my only gripe so far with this phone.
Please don't take this the wrong way but does it matter if they are not bright as they never change or move so you know where they are and what they do. I think it looks good the way it is because the front of the phone is very minimalistic except for the silver frame but that is uninformed around the hole screen. I thought the idea for the dim keys was to give a more stealth look to the phone, hence no branding in the front glass.

That might be the case, and might be ok for you, but this is about having a choice.

I like that they're dim. I hate when they're super bright while I'm using my phone in bed at night.

Most users say they are dim(all of them), I don't know until I get mine next week ..sure they look dim in pictures but this picture makes you
Hope it's a software issue because if it's hardware this won't be the only phone out there
Anyone knows if it will be possible to control the brightness on a future OTA update ?

They've always been bright enough for me to see indoors. I can't answer for you though, perform a nandroid backup and try the ROM for yourself to see if its bright enough.

Yeah, I kind of wish they were brighter too.
A little brighter would be nice. Fortunately, I pretty much know where they are now without looking. I still miss the mark though once in a while. I am just thrilled they put the back button on the right, where it belongs, so I am not going to complain.

There is no front facing cam...do your research...
There is no Front Facing camera. What you see on the front are the light sensor and proximity sensors.
seriously? please have a clue about the phone you are using befor asking questions like this
Ha ha, that is a sensor bud. Your captivate will never have a front facing camera but you will not be last person to start a thread just like this and you were not the first person either so don't feel too bad.
Maybe get a webcam with microUSB connector, some tape, and the USB driver to turn the phone into a USB. Then all you need is a driver on the phone and you are all set.
It might not fit in your pocket.
Open any application that would access the camera
Use phone backwards
There you go forward facing camera
or if u can develop some sort of mirror system, attach it to the back camera, and use reflections as the image...
Problem Solved!
Here you go, the diagram is for the iPhone 3G but I assume it will fix your problem ha.

I used a highly reflective metal but it worked for me
A guy I work with helped design this thing for the iPhone.

based on measurements, that should work.
Although, I hope you have something to use to suction it against
now they need one for our phone and we good to go!
tim that's really cool. I'd buy.
i really dont know why they dont put the camera on a swivel so you can flip it around. No need for extra hardware, and its convenient for taking all sorts of pics.

Or the fact that it's painfully obvious that it's not a camera. Other than that, the simple logic that a feature such as a forward facing camera, if there, would be something advertised to counter Facetime or at least turned on in the FW if the obvious CCD was there.
Im wondering if the Samsung Infuse 4G suffers the same issue with the Galaxy S2's screen issues..
1.) Yellow tinting
2.) Left side is darker than the right
3.) Huge color temperature swings from unit to unit
4.) Difference of white brightness
5.) Visible suction cup marks
6.) White blotches on the screen when a gray image is displayed
7.) Color banding
Any input is appreciated, pictures are also welcome especially if its the notification tray dropped down.
I personally have not had any of those issues that i can recall or that i can tell.
At the very very bottom of my screen on the Infuse there is a noticeable tearing or bending...whatever you want to call it. I have seen 4 with this small imperfection. Maybe it was a bad batch.

I think it is an intended effect. (bottom of screen) It's really noticeable when you scroll through text.
The issues the OP mentioned, I've seen none of.
It's clearly not an intended effect. It's only the bottom row of pixels anyway.
None of those other problems I have in the slightest.

I had a light spot on my first Infuse. It was only noticeable on dark gray backgrounds. Exchanged because of it and my second and third Infuses didn't have it.
Haven't noticed the other issues mentioned by the OP and I'm pretty particular about screens. Color balance is much better than my old Captivate.
@hwaters
I may just be seeing things but there also looks like a yellowish tint captured by the camera, would be you able to zoom out a bit on the photos something that shows the entire phone but not further away. Thanks!
For those who are willing to contribute pictures please post a picture of the notification tray dropped down with the full phone in view.
My camera was having focusing issues from farther away but I did take a few other pictures earlier today.
If there is some yellow tinting oh well. It may just be an issue with how they may the super amoled plus screens.

one thing that i find strange is
Why are the 3 dot connectors on the same side as the power button? if u have it docked on the side how would u turn it on?
Seems abit silly which could indicate fake but its hard to call something real when its unreleased
But "what if" that is not a connector?
any theorys on what else 3 dots could do? 3 dots is pretty common for dock connectors
what if they are on both sides?
like ,for fingers, not to "slide" from hand ?

That doesn't make any sense at all. (No offense, just being brutally honest.)
The dock pin connectors belong on the other side but otherwise this is pretty much spot on.

The official teaser video showed the pins on the same side as the power button. The only thing I see that makes me doubt it is the lack of curvature on the screen.

What concerns me is the bottom bezel. It looks like there's a lot of black after the on-screen buttons on the bottom. Seems like a lot of wasted real-estate. In the leaked videos, it's even more apparent: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Py9TfZGie48

This is actually normal. Using a software such as Screen Filter and looking at a pure grey image will show the screen pattern pretty clearly. Very noticeable at lower brightness, not much of an issue otherwise.

nothing in particular. I first noticed while using Launcher 7, all the red tiles had a lot of striping. I'm talking about pure red #FF0000. The gray noise has always seemed minimal. I only noticed it while using MIUI or Gingerbread. I just hope they don't replace my screen with the S-LCD. the SAMOLED is still much better than the S-LCD

Although I cannot confirm this right away, I highly doubt replacing it for a S-LCD is as easy as plugging it in. Phones have to be cost effective, so the less time spent repairing them, the better. I don't think you'll have anything but a SAMOLED.
Well I just got it back.
And they didn't fix the issue
although they did replace my charge port and volume buttons.
So, not a complete loss

I have this problem,I have sent my phone to HTC 5 times now and the problem is still here

Sounds like a stuck pixel. If it was dead it would be black.
There are various apps that are designed to attempt to fix the problem, by flashing the screen to create different levels of pixel activity. But I'm not sure if they will actually do anything.
Sent from my Bruce's CM10 Sensation using XDA Premium
I have a problem like this as well. It's not a stuck pixel, it looks more like a "smear" on the screen whose pixels won't get as dark as they are supposed to. The problem is most apparent on dark gray backgrounds. You know, the kind that's all over Holo. :/
Never tried to contact HTC about it since I figured it was my fault, but if other people here have exactly the same problem then it may be a more widespread problem.

It's still very hard too see it properly. Has it always been there?
It sort of reminds me of the first LCD TVs that were released that suffered from 'clouding' in the corners. Which could be 'massaged' out of the panel. Yet this is directly in the centre area if the panel. Or even reminds me the knuckle marks on my old Dell monitor (long MMORPG story) that look exactly like that. Damaged pixels that won't fill completely anymore.
I find it hard to imagine how this could happen without direct damaged (which is pretty much impossible in this scenario, without a damaged digitizer). Or without it being a manufacturing issue, prior or even during assembly.

Have you opened up the case of the phone at all? If you get something behind the screen it will push the center of it out and create exactly the issue you have.
Even if you haven't opened it up, something could be stuck back there. A big peice of dirt, a small plastic peice that broke up internally, or anything else.
If you have teken the device part, do it again and make sure it's clean behind the screen. If you haven't, send it back for a new one.
