Exzeus adb and terminal - Android Apps and Games

Hey I'm having troubles installing Android sdk on my laptop so can I install exzeus with terminal from my phone? I know I can't have the apk on my sd, so what if I had it on my phones memory?

I got Android on my hd2 ya'll!

why do you even need to install it from the terminal. just install it straight via the market.
Though I'm pretty sure you downloaded a copy illegally and is now asking for help to install it. This is not allowed in xda. Stay away.

Understood. Lol ill keep those questions away from here. Thx for replying.

[Q] Samsung Captive ATT non market app help

I have tried everything to get a one click solution to enable non-market apps. First and foremost I am on a MAC. No access to a windows machine. I have my phone rooted and have installed superuser status.
I am looking for a solution that will let me install (easily) non- market applications. There appears to be several solutions doing this on a windows machine. I have not been able to find a solution on a MAC. And instructions, help, videos anything is greatly appreciated.
Thanks
PS: not a total nube, but I have limited knowledge of the root directory and manipulation, but follow instructions well ........
What firmware are you on? Because if you are on the leaked 2.2 you should look on the leaked ji6 hacks forum page and it will give you the instructions that you can run in adb shell in the terminal application on a mac you just have to type ./adb (command) where windows users just have to type adb (command) you should make sure that you are comfortable on adb though because there are hardly any tutorials for adb on a mac around. I found that the hard way. Hope this helps, if you still can't figure it out post more info and I will do my best to help although I am still kinda a noob to android development.

Thank for the help, I will look at thie ji6 hack and see if it works. I'll let you know. Right now I have spent 3 days trying to unlock this pile of dung. ATT should be shot for doing this people. We bought the phone let us put what we want on it. PERIOD
Have you tried ADB? If you can get ADB to work, you should have the skill to copy over the settings.db and use the SQLeditor for Firefox plugin. Or use SQLite on the phone.
Read up on how to enable sideloading - the same commands that work on windows work on a mac - or very similar. As long as you know how to copy files in terminal you should be set.

Need help installing either Gingerblur or Greyblur

Hey all heres the deal I've had my Atrix now since the end of Feb and since then have only recently successfully rooted and enabled non market apps on my Atrix (recently meaning this week lol). I'm new to developing and modifying phones but I'm not new to computers . I admittedly have mostly hardware experience and slight software background. With that said I need your help !!!! I'm interested in sideloading either Gingerblur or Greyblur to my phone . I am currently running XP Pro on my computer and so far as I know I have done all I can do on my own with no help. I have the drivers installed, Moto Link installed, phone set to debuging, SD card unmounted, and Greyblur downloaded & extracted onto phone's internal mem......... Now heres where ya'll expertize is needed . BTW I have the SDK installed ontomy computer as well but I'm not familiar with ADB or its commands . Any help, advice or suggestions would greatly be appreciated.

how to root o3d
hey guys how are you all? okay, so i need some help, im a complete noob when it comes to android and the process of rooting?:/ ive had iphones since the 3g all the way through to the i4 and ive not had any problems learning about jailbreaking or how its done and infact jailbroke all of my iphones, but long story short i just got the optimus 3d today..or yesterday now should i say..i think ive figured out android to a certain degree, some things are still a mystery to me though, such as how i back up my contacts to my pc and how i get the first (far left) page to actually be the first page instead of it always returning to the middle page and havin to scroll either way?!? but thats for a different post, my question here is howdo i root my optimus 3d? i have an acer laptop running windows ultimate x64 if thats important, the o3d is on tmobile uk although i believe its unlocked(theres no tmobile branding or custom tmobile firmware to my knowledge), its running android 2.2 froyo, version 10b-jun-16-2011. a simple quick walkthrough of all the programs needed and the method to root it is what im after,id so very much appreciate it,thank you in advance. Hi Rob, firstly welcome to Android, be patient, root will arrive shortly.
However, unless you need to do some SERIOUS hacking you probably do not need root to do stuff in Android you needed to jailbreak the iPhone for. ie, just put mp3 files on you device's mSD card and they will play, same with videos, same with games. You don't need to bypass the market (as in itunes) you just need to alter you settings to accept none market stuff. A couple of clicks and your done!

Myn is rooted
You need to download google developers sdk go here http://developer.android.com/sdk/index.html
and the Lg optimus 3D drivers make sure debuging is on
thanks for the welcome. so this might be another stupid question, but what is the 'root'? what does rooting actually do and is it a necessary requirement, i wont be using any custom software or writing any of my own programs, im happy with the way it is id just like to get the odd paid app for free from time to time unless theres a reason to root to get free apps or whatever(i dont always pirate i usually stick with free apps unless theres a major diff between the paid and free versions, for example just this afternoon i paid for perfectlockapp from the marketplace). also off topic but the phone has 8gb internal sd, around 900mb internal memory and ive got an 8gb external sd card. all the apps ive installed were saved onto the internal memory but i figured out how to transfer them to internal sd,but the internal sd has a capacity of only 5.93gb useable.how do i get the apps to goto onto the external sd card or cant i do this?if i cant, what is the external card for? cheers guys.rob

turn debugging on and connect your phone try it
Need extra info
I to am trying to root a P920, I've been reading through this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=803682
and it talks constantly about putting the phone in debug mode.
How do I do that?
Second I'm supposed to get the right drivers for the phone, but I don't understand where.
I have the android SDK installed with all the optional bits and Eclipse integration. I've also just downloaded super one click from the other thread.
Thanks
you find the drivers in LGE folder in the internal memory of your 3D phone or search for this LGUnitedMobileDriver_S498MA22_WHQL_ML_Ver_2.2.exe
for debug mode--->settings-application-developer-debug
Nic you're a star. I just figured out the debugging thing, so was on my way back to post that I found it, but had no clue about the drivers
Cheers
Ian
Right, I seem to have rooted my phone
Here is some additional information in case it helps.
Previously I downloaded the Android SDK and Eclipse plug in. The eclipse plug in isn't required for this, the details are above.
I put it in debug mode as detailed above.
I downloaded the file SuperOneClickv1.9.5-ShortFuse.zip from the link in my post above.
Now here's the useful bit. I couldn't get my PC to recognise my phone, it complained it couldn't load the drivers. So I went to:
edit: ok I can't post external links yet, on lg.com there's a mobile support section and a support tool.
and downloaded the support tool. This allowed me to download and install the LG P920 drivers. Once this was done I reconnected my phone to the PC and ran SuperOneClick.exe then clicked on Root.
The dos box flashed up about a dozen times, and I was about to disable debug when it said "Success!"
I'm new to all of this so sorry for being a noob.
Once I root the phone. Does this automatically imply I also unlocked it? If not how do you unlock the phone? I know there's some way to unlock them without needing to use unlock codes.
The carrier I want to use (MTS) is so puny they have a terrible phone selection. I'm thinking about rooting and having the LG Optimus 3D and rooting it. I had a friend who's done such to a HTC Desire, but it seems every phone is done very differently.
Edit: Okay, I I found the topic http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1186406 about unlocking the phone which I think makes sense but it's still difficult to follow and it seems a handful of people are having issues with it.
I can't post on that topic as I'm too new. I'm looking forward to getting this phone, rooting, and doing that unlock though once I know for sure that I'll be able to do it.

[Q] ADB SDK manager wants log in to update?

i've tried searching and can find no answers, i've been looking for an hour. so please, no flaming that there is an existing thread, i already tried.
i have installed ADB successfully before and used it. i'm doing it again because i have a fresh windows install, so i know how it works.
i'm trying to install the android 2.3.3 (API 10) package for android SDK manager, and most of the files downloaded with no problem. however, the opensense SDK for phones, droid4, droidrazr, mt870, mt917, xt882, and xt928 files are asking me for authentication to log in to dl.htcdev.com. i cannot download them without this.
i've tried using adb without the files it's asking me to log in for, no go. it won't recognize my device using ADB DEVICE from the command prompt. i am using an HTC sensation, i am in charge only mode, and i do have USB debugging enabled.
i've also looked high and low for another source to download the 2.3.3 android package and can't find it. any help is much appreciated.
anyone? was really hoping to get ICS installed this weekend, but i can't do anything until i can get superCID going.
nevermind, i got it figured out.

If you figured it out, please post your solution here. People who face the same problem in the future and find this thread (via Google), will benefit from your knowledge

verizon root method work on mac?

ive been reading all the root threads for at least the 10th time just to get a handle on the setup. havnt noticed if anyone said you can do it on a mac though. i d/led all the needed files and tried extracting the boot img file. wouldnt give me an extract option on my right click so i kinda stopped there. also very unfamiliar with the adb stuff so if anyone could help with that, i would be more than appreciative.
also, this isnt my first rooted device. ive had my dx rooted for some time now but wow was that was so much easier as far as i can tell. even rooted my thrive too and it seemed a lil more complicated like this but that was around xmas time so i dont remember a thing. thanx in advance

I've heard that there's a mobile version of Odin (Mobile Odin, IIRC) that works on the GSIII- can't rememeber if it worked on the VZW version though. I've typically avoided Samsung phones myself because I run only Linux and Samsung always relies on Windows-only programs like Odin and Kies (sp?) which doesn't do me any good. If you've only got Mac's then you're in the same boat too.
I'm on VZW myself and am holding my breath that the Developer version of the phone won't require the darn Windows programs to hack around on.
Thanks for the info. I do have a pc but its value $300 pos my mom bought for words with friends lol. Just really don't trust it

I used my mac to root but technically I kinda cheated. I used Boot Camp to run ODIN to root the phone, but I couldn't get the Android SDK to detect Java so I ended up using Terminal in OS X for adb to push a recovery. If you don't have windows, you can try and download a trial of Parallels 7 for 30 days. They let you use the consumer preview version of Windows 8 for free as well. I haven't tested ODIN on Windows 8 but maybe it will work.
For those unfamiliar with Android SDK and adb in OS X using terminal, basically you download and extract the platform-tools to a location. So for example I used my home folder "/Users/kthung/platform-tools" open up terminal and cd to that location and then you should be able to use any adb commands as usual BUT you need to add a "./" in front of every adb command. So for example "adb shell" becomes "./adb shell"
