[Q] HD2 Video Camera Quality Drop - General Questions and Answers

Hello there.
I just recently got an HD2 and HardSPLD'd it. I have Core Cell Evo v2 ROM with BSB Tweak installed. I have used the video camera for quite some time now with gorgeous quality. Later until this day I figured I would record a random video, I took a 2 minute video and the quality was HIDEOUS. it isn't sharp, it's blurred and almost hurt my eyes to look at! My battery percentage was running low, and I have applied 'Improve Video Recording quality" with MPEG-4. I tried different set of resolution and different format ended with same result, How can I fix this?? I was thinking it was the LOW battery that disabled HD Quality video recording.

HTC Touch Pro 2 VGA video quality

Recorded a video last night and uploaded it to Youtube but Im not impressed with the quality.
Checking the settings its set to 640x480 (VGA) but the video is awfully blocky. I was under the impression that VGA recording on the TP2 was rather good.
Am I expecting too much from the device or is there something amiss here?
the resolution seems right but the framerate is kind of low, looks to be about 15 fps and not 30 whihc may also mean the bitrate is set lower too, also the youtube conversion doesn't help

Interesting fact about camera

Has anyone noticed that camcorder on Desire S records videos at only ~22 FPS? No matter how good light conditions are and regardless of recording resolution/bitrate - video always comes out at ~22 FPS (or less in low light conditions).
This is not because of hardware limitations, but because of camera module itself. It has noticable lag when looking through viewfinder and, of course, camera can not record what the camera can not see (more frames per sec).
On the other hand, front camera can record video at ~29 FPS VGA! Bad quality, but yeah, more FPS.
Why, in Gods name, would HTC put such bad camera module on back and (in terms of video recording fps) and better camera on front?
What method are you using to determine the FPS?
If it is just a software issue than a custom ROM should resolve it.
I have used "GSpot" app, and I don't believe this is a software issue, as I'm on my 5th custom rom.
Also, I don't think that my unit is faulty or something, all desire s cameras are like this (compared). Its a shame, because video quality is quite nice, but fps...

yeah i noticed that the other day i thought it was because i had an 8gb class 2 mem car but i recently got a 16gb class 6 and it still looks choppy and if as u say its and hard wear defect or they did it on purpose then their is no easy fix
this sucks. it kindof defeats the point of having 720p when the fps is less than 30...
Yh this is the one thing which is annoying but not a major disadvantage. Hope there is some software which can rectify this.

Razr HD - Camera exposure fail in Video Mode

Is there any way to fix the Razr HD camera? In its current form its seriously flawed.
For example, I record some 1080 video in front of my very bright projector screen in a pitch black room (game replays from F1 2012) and the video recording is extremely dark, greenish, and grainy. Compared to video I've taken with my SGSIII and Nexus 4 which capture video flawlessly and exactly as I see it on the big screen, the Razr is really really bad...
I've tried a few different apps, yesterday on recommendation I downloaded the Camera JB+ app but it also just seemed to make it worse (even darker and more green)..
Has anyone found a fix for the Razr HD camera? Is there a way to hack it?? I've even found that outdoor still shots vary too, some overexposed, some underexposed, even when taking several of the same shot in exactly the same light, one photo after the other....
Surely Moto can make it better, I use the video recording all the time on this phone, and its a total fail right now, so much so I'm going to sell it

slowmotion...

hey guys, today i tried using the slowmotion mode in the camera, and before you start recording the camera show good details but after you start recording the detail drops a lot, its like 360p or 480p....the resolution in fact is 720p but it doesn't look like it at all....is this how it supposed to be??
I've been wondering this as well. The slow-mo function on my Z3C was really crisp and miles better than what the S6 produces. Really weird, since the S6 camera beats it hands down in just about every other sense...

Video recording quality.

Has anybody noticed how terrible the video recording performance is on this phone? Even in fairly well lit conditions there's so much smoothing going on it makes the overall video look absolutely terrible.
Is there a way to turn this smoothing off? I have been using GCam purely for recording videos and the quality is a lot better (doesn't have this smoothing effect) but the app itself isn't perfect and crashes fairly regularly. Any suggestions/known fixes welcome
I have my video settings set to 4k 60fps.
TIA.
I noticed this too.
Even on 60FPS it is not as smooth as I was hoping - my eyes actually hurt when I watch videos with moving objects.
Still objects are very, very good, especially with 5X optical zoom.
I think this is something to do with steadiness not with FPS.
