Spb Wireless Monitor on Tilt 2 - General Questions and Answers

Wondering if anyone else has this issue?:
The data usuage over Wifi and GPRS is way off and incorrect. It show about 1/4 to 1/3 of the actual data downloaded. I discovered this after a $300 bill...the only was it shows correct usuage is using 'Internet Sharing' with my laptop - the 'usb' usage is correct. If I download a 28 MB podcast for example over Wifi or 3G connection it will generally end up showing I only used 7MB. If i transfer the same file over usb it shows 28 MB.
Any ideas guys? I've spent weeks searching this site, Spb, Google with never seeing a solve for this issue....so if I missed something it's not due to a lack of searching before posting for sure!!!
Thanks to anyone who can help!

GPRS usage not appearing/being billed on O2

It seems that my GPRS usage is not appearing on my usage details on my O2 account.
Available this month Used Remaining
Inclusive Allowance - kbs
Browse and download 4 MB 4096 0 4096
Inclusive browse and download 1 MB 1024 0 1024
Does anyone have this?
I can't even find this information on my online O2 account - where do you find stuff like that out?
Regards
It will show up eventually, my usage is at least 2 months behind, if I look at my online account now, it shows my GPRS usage from March! I am about to enter my third year with O2 online and they have never sorted this problem out. So be carful with what you use or it might catch you out!
It should be somewhere under the unbilled usage section, a sub catergory to your online bill. Im only in my 2nd month with O2 now so I guess its just behind, abit frustrating, if I do go over my limit and get a stupid charge then they could be partly responsible for my overuse due to their malfunctioning reports? Thank god for the GPRS report application.
Continuing in my quest for 'thicky of the year award', how do I get hold of GPRS report - sounds useful?
Regards
Its in your unbilled usage - then click 'inclusive allowance' and use the drop down box to select your number... (silly - and if you get the favicon error just click back) - Damn Reddot CMS messing up!
Likewise (although if I check now i bet i've been charged) - I havent had any GPRS usage come up (include mobile web) for a while now!
Thanks - found it
Says I have a 100kb allowance with none used - as you say, well out of date
I'm trying spb GPRS monitor BTW - seems really very effective.
Regards
Here's a weird follow-up for you.
spb GPRS monitor works well when I connect myself. However, I also use Tomtom plus services (satnav) which automatically makes a BT connection with my Jamin to download weather and traffic data via GPRS. This worked today as usual but GPRS monitor shows no usage. I also looked at the pda screen whilst Tomtom was connecting and the little G sign at the top didn't change and there was no indication of any connection, even though data was clearly flowing!
Any ideas?
Regards
I've used shedloads of GPRS since I bought an Alpine last August and thus far I've never been charged a penny for it. It says I have an allowance of 100kbytes/month but it always shows zero used, even though in some cases I've gone over 10mbytes in one month!
They sure have a strange business plan!
You may have an old account with them. I've been with them for 6 years on the same number (but switched around contracts a bit), and never been billed a penny for it.
Either they got it wrong, or I get inclusive GPRS (which is more likely, realistically!)
If you yell at them over the phone about expensive GPRS rates, and threaten to leave (say 3 offered you a better deal), and they might cut your £/MB. Sounding frustrated yields the best results.
Apparently 3 have the cheapest data rates.
Thx - great info

Mystery 3G Usage

Hi All, had a search for this problem on the net but couldn't find anything...
... I've noticed that overnight, my TC uses the internet heavily. Spb GPRS monitor shows between 1 and 3 MB per hour between 1 am and 7 am.
During the day, it's a lot less despite me using it occcasionally to download and send emails.
Any ideas what it could be?

Ask O2
I have the GPRS connection totally disconnected due i don't need, but why don't you configure your Network and specify which prog. should have data access?
Good question... but it sends almost as many data as it recieves...
My first idea was the RSS HUB, then the IMAP sync, but they should produce the same amount all day..
(Mine's an original, non branded Polaris...)
I found a similar problem; the GPRS monitor shows 1,2 Mb of data downloaded between 8 and 9 in the morning, while I wasn't using the mobile (it was connected to my Pc, charging). No app is configured for automatic download/connection. I just found that a link to fring application is in the autorun folder; I just deleted it and I'll look at what will happen in the next days.
I would check your Activesync setting to make sure that it's not set to download content off-peak.
With PocketLAN, you can see all connections with reached IP and port. See the PortMonitor section in this soft.

A quick search on Google (or your favourite search engine) would bring up the same results:
http://www.spbsoftwarehouse.com/products/gprsmonitor/glossary.html?en
I've found that offcourse :| But I wanted to know if it was build in WM.
You mean there is no way that WM collects this data??
on one of the cd's that came with your Touch Pro is a program called SPB GPRS monitor.
install this on your device and you'll end up with a small today screen item that shows the amount of data send/recieved (and more)
EDIT: never mind! you found it allready
but to awnser your question: no WM does not collect/store this data.
So very strange that WM does not incorporate such software into WM, i think a lot of users would benefit from it.
@XtremeXL: I've looked at the CD's which accompanied my TouchPro but I didn''t find the SBP GPRS program. on which cd it's located?
even people on normal computers with limited mb's a months dont get such features on windows for pc's as far as i know

I'm sorry you're right! the program is not on the cd
i used to have a HTC TyTn II and it was located on that cd (unfortunatly
I sold it)
but i've send you a PM!
gprs monitor that came with the TyTn II will not install on the touch pro - just incase you were thinking down those lines. The application is "locked" to the TYTN II only.
The only other app that i have found with a gprs counter is pocketmax phonealarm which provides amany other features such as profile switching etc. Yu will need to use secondtoday application in order to run it if you are using the vanilla interface.
GPRS monitor increases CPU processing time by an average of 5% when no data connection is active. When i tried it on both my TYTN II and TOuch Pro, the CPU would consistantly change from 99% to around 88 - 95% due to GPRS Monitor.
Battery Status, also provides a free alternative.

I have always found spb's GPRS minitor to slow down the data connection speed itself, so don't bother with it. Being on t-mobile's web'n'walk plus (3Gb cap) means you dont need to worry about excess data charges anyway.

Hi all!
I downloaded the latest version of GPRS Traffic Monitor this weekend and installed the cab-file on the phone (succefully). But I'm experiencing bis problems with that piece of software.
It's not possible to enable GPRS Monitor on the HomeScreen. I set the little hook, but when I return to the homescreem it's not displayed. When I go back and look at the homescreen settings, it's not enabled anymore. Looks like it's disable anytime I close the homescreen settings dialog.
Even when running GPRS Monitor without the homescreen plugin, no data transfers are monitored at all. (Don't know if this is based on the homescreen issue.)
I'm using the stock rom shiped by O2 Germany.
Any suggestions?
Tkx in advance.

a short update:The traffic is counted when I enable "connection monitoring" for the connection called "o2 internet gprs". But what if data is transfered over one of the other connections as "o2 surf"? And is there a way to make sure that GPRS Monitor is allways started without having it on my homescreen? (As i just notice you can run TF3D only as stand alone homescreen.)
Is many people using that battery status program (now called HomeScreen++)? Am i right in thinking thats a pluggin for the today screen but not the manilla/touchflow interface?
My boss has just received a HTC touch pro, the first CD with outlook / ActiveSync worked ok. But the second CD doesnt work in any pc's i've tried it in, would that have SPB gprs Monitor and Backup (like my diamond did)?
Anyone know if they are available to download? From above or another post it said was locked per device, so if its licensed for touch pro only then i guess i'm ok to acquire it, if it should of came on cd anyway.

if you mean the task bar icon it is situated at the top of the screen and you can move the icon about using the slider situated in the info tab in the options

Because TF3D is taking over your homescreen, the plugins selected to display on the today-screen are not displayed until you deselect TF3D. GPRS-monitor is always started when installed, you do not have to start it manually before opening a connection to monitor the usage.
If you want to monitor different connections you will need to set these up using different profiles in GPRS-monitor. One profile for each connection. Then the program should monitor all different types of traffic.
I have 3 different connections in my TP but I only use one of them, the rest is disabled with NODATA-cab. I haven't had any problems with these disabled connections. So you might want to give that a try too.

[Q] "something" keeps connecting to my 3G Internet Connection.

I don't know what program that is, and I have no idea whatsoever how to find that out...
Please help me out, this is very annoying
Download Spare Parts
Hello
I had a similar problem a while back and found that it was actually YMail app uploading a video that was bigger than the 25mb limit. Thought I had cancelled it properly but it basically uploaded 1gb in the space of 4 hours and thus used all my data allowance.
So, on to the fix.
Download Spare Parts.
Open, Click Battery History. Click arrow at side of top option bar (Think it says CPU usage), Click Network Usage, The culprit should then be at the top of the list.
If it is an app doing it then I am sure a quick uninstall then re-install of the cheeky app should sort you out.
Good luck.
Thanks man, I will try that right away. I will let you know the end result
No problem, really hope it helped.

[Q] GT-N8013 - Wifi suddenly slow

Hello,
A couple of months ago the wifi speed on my GT-N8013 dropped to ~200KB/s. There were no changes to my wifi network not to the device as far as I am aware. I do not recall how fast the connection was prior to the drop, but it was acceptable for wifi and fast enough to stream HD movies off my NAS.
My device has never been rooted or anything, so its running stock ROM.
I left everything alone for a week or so hoping whatever conditions causing the slowness would pass, but the slowness persisited. Factory reset didn't change anything either. I messed with so many settings on my router as well (different channels, different modes, other settings DD-WRT gives you that I don't understand) to no avail. Slowness occurs when connected to other routers as well and doesn't seem to affect other devices (roommates phone and laptop had no slowness).
The wierd thing is that my phone (T-Mobile Galaxy SII, T989) started doing the same thing a while back; used to stream my HD movies to my phone until wifi speeds dropped to ~200KB/s. At first I just wrote it off as my phone being old and having had too many ROMs and radios flashed, but then the same thing happened to my much newer, unrooted, stock tablet.
Has anyone ever seen or heard of anything like this. or have any ideas on what could be causing it or how to fix it?
Thanks for any help!

Do you have a limitation of space at your provider (flatrate?) and it is actually setted down to "3g" speed?
Perhaps something is wrong with your provider? What shows the monthly receipts?
Maybe you have installed to much apps with internet connection. Perhaps they try to synchronize them with the server every second?
What shows the diagramm of using network in the settings window of your tablet?
(Sorry for my hobbling english)

Thanks for the reply!
This is using wifi, not any mobile internet connection. Also, most of what I'm doing involves copying and streaming files over my LAN, so my internet speeds are irrelevant.
As far as apps using background data, there shouldn't be enough of those after a factory reset to have such an effect. Also, I wouldn't think they'd have such a consistant effect (almost always around 200KB/s).
other members in lan?

Perhaps other members in your Wlan eat your bytes? You could try to change the channel in the wlan-modem. Control it with the app "Wifi analyzer". It gives a good overview.
Trojans? Half mounted cables?
