How to revert back from DeathSPL. - G1 Android Development

Hello,
I have a G1 and I just installed DeathSPL on it (after installing the radio of course and I have a PVT board). I've been looking around and trying to find how to go back from DeathSPL to something like HardSPL. I am pretty much trying to revert the phone back to it's original state. Any help would be great. I could not find any information on this in the FAQ.
Thanks!
Dootuz

just flash the spl you want to revert back to. just remember, when flashing the spl it will wipe the current rom off of your phone. so after flashing the hardspl, youll need to reflash whatever rom you want to use after.

Thank you, I could not find this anywhere.

Flashing back to Shipped ATT ROM from ROM Upgrade without HardSPL

Without HardSPL installed, if you upgrade your ATT Tilt to ROM 1.93, you could not down grade back to 1.56. Well, for some reason, my phone wouldn't boot with 1.93 so I needed to go back to 1.56. When I tried, I got an error that was something like invalid vendor ID. So, instead I flashed the ATT Test rom. After that, I was able to flash 1.56. For me, this was a great find. Maybe it Will help someone else later.
where can i get the original ATT Tilt to ROM 1.56.
I want to restore my tilt to the factory settings.

well you could start by reading this thread right here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=335568 this way you can see how people have done and what issues some people might be running into. Plus you can post whatever issues you have over there.
and for just the instructions consult the wiki:
forum.xda-developers.com/archive/index.php/t-335568.html
It has pretty much all info you need to revert back to stock rom and spl for warranty/exchange purposes or simply if you want to go back to att crap.
good luck.

Revert Flashed ROM to Stock?

Hi guys,
I have a touch pro with a few issues (the same as everyone else) and I want to try a few things out in order to try and fix it. I just need to know I can revert it back to its original state if I need to...
This is my first Windows Mobile device, I have flashed hardspl to the device as the thread gives instructions on how to flash back, I'm just a bit concerned about restoring the original rom if I change it; The wiki has a few stock roms available, but it seems they include the SPL which I've read wont work correctly with hardspl installed. I've backed up the rom using pdocread, can I flash it back with pdocwrite without any issues? Obviously if I reconstruct it to flash back, it wont have the HTC signature so if I put the original SPL back on I will have a brick.
I'd like to mess around in the kitchen but need a way to revert it back to retail. How is this usually done?
Thanks.
Simply flash your chosen stock ROM (from the wiki as you pointed out). This will not overwrite your SPL. Hard SPL simply enables you to flash any ROM, stock or otherwise. There is a Stock SPL that you can flash for warranty purposes in post #1 of the HardSPL thread.

Back to my stock rom

Hi guys, I couldn't find this on the forums:
I want to go back to my stock rom, named: _HTC Touch Pro_MRII_RUU_Raphael_HTC_NLD_KPN_5.05.478.1_R_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe
But I have flashed a HardSPL from Olinex. What are the safe and correct steps to go completely back to the original rom?
Many thanks.
You can flash the stock rom, and keep the hard spl, it won't make a difference. If you are returning the phone for warranty, you will want to flash back to stock spl.
Check the sticky threads for the hardspl, it has instructions for returning to original for warranty. There is another thread for returning to spl 1.95, if that is the original spl you had. But you may be like me and didn't pay attention to which version you had before flashing harspl by olinex.
In the wiki you should be able to find all of the stock roms.
Cheers!
Thanks mate, I did a little gambling and just tried to flash the normal rom. It worked, with the SPL still intact I think. I sold it without warranty so it isn't my problem anymore .

Plenty questions, 32A

Hello.
I've been here for around a week now, reading tons and tons of threads and guides, yet it leaves me with a bunch of questions i am having trouble finding answers to.
First of all, this is the information i've managed to get from my Magic
SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT-1.33.0014 (SAPP10000)
CPLD-12
RADIO-3.22.23.18
Sep 2 2009, 17:42:56
It's bought in Denmark, however i bought it used, so i don't know what's happend to it in the past, yet as of what i've read and tried, i believe it's still as stock.
A bunch of questions
General
1. What is SPL?
2. What are the different types and differences of SPLs?
3. What is Radio?
4. What is a "Goldcard"?
5. In what part of the proces from stock ROM to a Hero ROM is the chance of bricking the phone?
Concering my phone
1. How to you get started upgrading a stock Magic with the standard ROM to a Hero ROM? (Do you flash SPL first, recovery first, or something third?)
2. I believe but not sure, that my current SPL is a "perfect" one, do i need one of these so-called "goldcards" to get a Hero ROM?
3. How great is the chance of bricking the phone with my specs and versions, and is there any way to minimize this chance?

I hope that someone will be able to help answering my possibly stupid questions, so i'll eventually be able to get a Hero ROM working on the dear magic without bricking it.
Thanks in advance.
I am not sure if this is posted in the correct section, if not, please forgive me.
Some of these questions can be answered in the sapphire wiki, which is in the sticky at the top of this sub forum.
You can only brick your phone (completely recoverable) from screwing up when flashing your spl or flashing the wrong spl

The only thing you need to remember from the settings is 32A. Never flash anything that doesn't say it's for 32A (not entirely correct, but safe bet ;-)).
The first thing you need is to root and install a recovery, I recommend AmonRA recovery. I never flashed SPL or radio, you can install almost all ROMs without flashing radio/SPL.
now more in detail on your questions:
1. SPL (or HBOOT) is the "Second Program Loader". Flashing this incorrectly can brick your phone, so don't do it, and you're normally safe.
2. stay with stock ;-) I only flashed an engineering SPL just last week, but was flashing almost daily ROMs. I still don't see the advantage of flashing a different SPL
3. The radio is the firmware of the 'radio' chip in your mobile. Also not safe to change for beginners.
4. Not sure, it is used for rooting some devices it seems, or to bring bricked devices back from the dead. If you need to know more, you're in trouble ;-)
5. Stay away from flashing radio/SPL and you won't brick your phone (although sometimes you need to know some 'trick' to get the phone back in useable state ;-))
how:
1. root and install a custom recovery. From the recovery you can do nifty things: mount USB, wipe, flash, make a backup, restore
2. MAKE A NANDROID BACKUP!!! With that, you can always go back to your previous state (providing you didn't brick the device)
3. take one of the 32A ports of Hero, never a ROM that is made for the Hero itself (partition layout is different, and some hardware too). I recommend my-hero 2.0.5. It works well, is made for the 32A, and safe to flash.
You can find more details on those steps in the forum, but I hope some of it has become more clear.

Thanks alot for your answers! It was helpfull. However you say that i don't have to flash a new SPL, are you sure about that? I believe i've read somewhere i'd have to flash a new one in order to get root access because i have a perfect SPL - please correct me if i am wrong
You really don't need to flash SPL (unless for cursorsense). You DO need to flash recovery, this makes everything a lot easier.
ah, you have a 'perfect' SPL, sorry, missed that part. I don't have that, so I didn't need to flash SPL at all to enjoy custom ROMs.
Can't help you with that then, search more info I'd say!
The information you provided did help indeed.
However i found out how to make a goldcard, now i just need to know if i found the right SPL to flash.
Would this be the right one for me?

Don't know enough about SPLs to help you on this one.
Anyone else?

cant flash anything after going back to stock....

i had used other roms before, was gonna warranty the phone out so i put everything back stock, decided to keep the phone, now i cant flash anything.
i tried flashing hard spl but it doesnt get past 0%. same things happens if i try to flash a rom.
any help on how to get this thing flashable again?
I'm not sure you can flash hard spl after going back to the stock spl. From what I understand, it's not really the stock spl. It's a patched version of the stock spl that has the proper signature to over-write the hard spl. I don't know if the hard spl is capable of over-writing this one; you should probably post the question in the hard spl thread or maybe pm cmonex. Maybe you just need to run the sspl first, but that's just a guess.
