i had used other roms before, was gonna warranty the phone out so i put everything back stock, decided to keep the phone, now i cant flash anything.
i tried flashing hard spl but it doesnt get past 0%. same things happens if i try to flash a rom.
any help on how to get this thing flashable again?
I'm not sure you can flash hard spl after going back to the stock spl. From what I understand, it's not really the stock spl. It's a patched version of the stock spl that has the proper signature to over-write the hard spl. I don't know if the hard spl is capable of over-writing this one; you should probably post the question in the hard spl thread or maybe pm cmonex. Maybe you just need to run the sspl first, but that's just a guess.

Hi guys,
I have a touch pro with a few issues (the same as everyone else) and I want to try a few things out in order to try and fix it. I just need to know I can revert it back to its original state if I need to...
This is my first Windows Mobile device, I have flashed hardspl to the device as the thread gives instructions on how to flash back, I'm just a bit concerned about restoring the original rom if I change it; The wiki has a few stock roms available, but it seems they include the SPL which I've read wont work correctly with hardspl installed. I've backed up the rom using pdocread, can I flash it back with pdocwrite without any issues? Obviously if I reconstruct it to flash back, it wont have the HTC signature so if I put the original SPL back on I will have a brick.
I'd like to mess around in the kitchen but need a way to revert it back to retail. How is this usually done?
Thanks.
Simply flash your chosen stock ROM (from the wiki as you pointed out). This will not overwrite your SPL. Hard SPL simply enables you to flash any ROM, stock or otherwise. There is a Stock SPL that you can flash for warranty purposes in post #1 of the HardSPL thread.

Hi guys, I couldn't find this on the forums:
I want to go back to my stock rom, named: _HTC Touch Pro_MRII_RUU_Raphael_HTC_NLD_KPN_5.05.478.1_R_Radio_Signed_Raphael_52.58.25.30_1.11.25.01_Ship.exe
But I have flashed a HardSPL from Olinex. What are the safe and correct steps to go completely back to the original rom?
Many thanks.
You can flash the stock rom, and keep the hard spl, it won't make a difference. If you are returning the phone for warranty, you will want to flash back to stock spl.
Check the sticky threads for the hardspl, it has instructions for returning to original for warranty. There is another thread for returning to spl 1.95, if that is the original spl you had. But you may be like me and didn't pay attention to which version you had before flashing harspl by olinex.
In the wiki you should be able to find all of the stock roms.
Cheers!
Thanks mate, I did a little gambling and just tried to flash the normal rom. It worked, with the SPL still intact I think. I sold it without warranty so it isn't my problem anymore .
Downgrade from Haykuro New SPL to Stock without Bricking.
I have:
Haykuros New Spl
Cm Recovery 1.2
CM 3.4 Rom
latest Radio .26I
Has Anybody Downgraded to Let say rc33 Stock or RC 29 ?
wht steps did you follow?
The Guide listed here seems to have been made before the Bricking Issue arised.
Help will be greatly appreciated.
flashed old RC29 image
I followed the original multi-touch root guide used from months ago. It didn't brick my phone.
I guess I used this:

or this:

I went back to hard spl did a wipe and had no problems, I didnt want to risk forgettting and applying a radio upgrade and bricking my phone

This is what has worked for me. The latest Haykuro SPL (camera+power) will auto recognize if RC29 is on the sd card and offer to flash it (i.e. DREAIMG.nbh). This will revert absolutely everything, radio, boot, spl, system and recovery. I have used it many times when trying custom roms that end up not working for one reason or another. As a result it never leaves my sd card. You will have to root the phone again.
For UK use: RC7

I am exchanging A black G1 for a White one.
I recently bought a Tmobile Wing on ebay and it has been hard spl'ed as I can see the SPL as 4.70 Yang in the bootloader mode.
Is there any way to remove the hard spl and just have the original spl on their?
I saw this thread where it has instructions:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=364543
but in this thread it says to also reflash it with the original rom after removing the hard spl. It looks like the phone is running a standard tmobile rom and I do not want to reflash the rom, just remove the hard spl. Thanks.
You need to flash the stock rom in order to remove the hardSPL. Afterwards, you can still use USPL to flash ROMs.
Can I not just flash spl.nbh extracted from the stock rom to remove the hard spl? Maybe by renaming spl.nbh to HERAIMG.nbh and placing it on an sd card and flashing from the sd? I do not want to flash the entire stock rom as this will erase everything and I know the phone is currently running a stock tmobile rom, just with hard spl.
Only way I know of is to flash the Stock T-Mobile ROM.
But why the hell would you want to remove HardSPL?? Having it HardSPLed makes your phone basically immune to bricking, you can flash ANY ROM, etc. It's wayyy better. Why would you want to remove it?
AND, why would you stick with the default ROM that it came with?? Use a custom ROM, like Ivan's JustStable or something. They are about 3x faster than a stock ROM. Wayyyyy faster.
You can look through all the ROM's here (http://thewingster.com/roms.aspx)
Is it necessary to remove the hard SPL to install one of these roms from wingster? Before I brick my wing, I'd appreciate a response. Sorry, noob here.

Quite the opposite. You NEED it.
Thanks for the quick response. I assume it does not need to be unlocked either.

The HardSPL takes care of the CID unlocking.
Hi all,
First off I am no SPL genius and I don't know much but figured someone should start a thread to get clarity on the matter.
I have noticed that a lot of people have questions about their SPL...
I have noticed that there are lots of SPL threads but many are not that clear (From what I have found...I am not bashing anyone, you guys rock!)
Okay...so...
Here's the first question and I've seen this asked...and I need an answer also.
I have a MT3G and changed my stock SPL to Haykuro's 1.33.2005 SPL with no issues and didn't even have to re-install my ROM. Easy!
Okay... Now I hear and see people saying to use the engineering 1.33.2009 SPL.
Q:What's the difference between .2005 and .2009 SPL?
Q:If it's worth the change can it be easily flashed from one to the other with no issues?
If anyone needs this for reference...

I also need to know. I did not change my spl. I rooted mytouch with anon ra v1.2.3.
Do I need to change spl, if I do do I need to unroot then root with other spl? Or can I just change my spl without rerooting and reflashing.?
Hey htcclay.,
I currently have mghtymax 1.9.1 Rom can I change my stock spl without removing my Rom ?
Also what's the purpose for spl? Does it make your Rom run faster

Well...
I decided to get away from the "stock factory" SPL.
I have heard that the "Stock" SPL is fine in flashing almost anything.
I mainly did so because I wanted to change my boot screen and could do so with out it.
You dont' need to un-root or re-root going from factory SPL to 1.33.2005 SPL.
It's just a simple update flash.
Was for me anyway.
I am not responsible if you brick your phone.

So what is an SPL anyway? What does it do?
The SPL, or Second Program Loader, is essentially the Android bootloader. It's job is more than just loading the Android OS - it also offers several other boot options, including Recovery mode, Fastboot, and HBOOT modes, and ultimately it's the SPL that allows manipulation of the flash nand on your device. Part of the SPL's job is to ensure that the data flashed to the device is correct. Most of the current shipping SPLs (apart from the "Perfect SPL's) let us flash a complete ROM image, but don't let us flash a recovery rom or boot image as it checks the verification signature. Haykuro has modified the SPL's available to remove this check and this is what the Engineering SPL's available offer. As the SPL is so crucial to the handset though, you have to be very careful when flashing it as if it's updated incorrectly then you may be incapable of restoring it without specialised hardware and knowledge. You essentially have a very expensive brick
