Can anyone help me unlock the market on my captivate? I tried following this guide, but I can't find an app called Market Access. In appBrain or Android Market.
download the APK from the link in the guide. Then sideload it to your phone
Well, I feel like an idiot
Thought it was just underlined for a point, didn't even think it was linked

Please help me. I was trying to follow a thread to install a swype theme on my droid x. I uninstalled swype (thought I backed it up, but only backed up settings, not apk) and now I can't find the thread on how to install new version.
I am new to android. I am rooted, but am unfamiliar with code and emulator. All I want to do at this point is restore my device to stock, particularly with swype, and quite with the "modifying" until I understand it more.
Can someone help me reinstall the droid x swype (if you know where I can get the original apk), especially how to run commands in terminal emulator on the device...
Help, I have heard the android community is really helpful... please help a stupid noob!
Just go to the swype website, log in, download the installer, login, file downloads and installs, then will validate automatically. The just enable it and your good to go.
I went to swypeinc.com and couldn't find a place to log in. This came pre installed on my droid X. Does that make a difference. I appreciate the help! Hopefully your way work, because it seems idiot proof (although I can't figure it out).
I have rooted my captivate and can sideload stuff like a pro but how in the world do you unblock the market. it wont let me download or install things because it says "For security, your phone is set to block files not from the android market." how do i unblock the market?
I have tried Market Enable and that doesnt do anything.
when i goto manually do it like it says to when i search my dbdata folder on droid explorer has nothing in it.

now that we have a great "one click" root for the T-mobile G2. and im finally confident enough to go through and do the root for the phone. and lone and behold visionary is taken off the android market. NOT COOL! and i tried supposedly downloading the app, and drag and dropping it over to my phone. but i must have done something wrong because i can not find it in the apps. im new to this whole android rooting thing. and have had a little experiance with jailbreaking the iphone in the past. but this is a totaly different animal and i dont want to screw it up. so please guys any help? i need a how to for dummies at this point.
Update: Temporarily removed the r12 download link while a couple of people on XDA fix a non-booting issue
Info can be found on the modaco website, sorry cannot post the link since my account is not verified yet.
you can find info on it here: http://android.modaco.com/content/t...350/10-nov-r12-test-visionary-one-click-root/
since you're not using the market to install it you will need HTC Sync to install it on your phone OR put it on your SD card and use a file manager like ASTRO File Manager to browse your SD card for the .apk file and install it from there
Im trying to get someone to help walkme through the rooting process of a motoactv watch that I received for christmas. The device was recently rooted, and it appears that the process is fairely easy. I have limited rooting experience with android phones, and have jailbroken a few iphones, but have never had to mess with command lines, or adb. If someone is willing to walkme through the process on here I will be more than willing to make a modest paypal donation to them (we can discuss payment terms.)
I have posted the link website below for the rooting procedure. Also note that I am only interested in doing this as long as the core fitness apps and capabilities of the device arent completly destroyed, as this was a gift from my girlfriend and it needs to function in a fitness capacity. Im thinking that they shouldnt be affected, and that I probably will only gain the ability to delete them, but I could be wrong. I am also trying to learn from this expereince and am willing to pay if necessary to do so. Thanks so much, and hope everyone has a happy new year.

I have one on order. I thought the process was pretty straightforward. It is easier on a Mac or Linux as there are scripts that use zergrush already available. If you are unfamiliar with using the command line I would recommend finding someone else to root it for you.
I am rooting mine for Google music and adding watch faces but I am kind of tickled by the idea of watching NetFlix on a wristwatch.

Hi
I already rooted the MotoACTv that I have. But I am having problems installing the Google APPS zip file downloaded from the cynagoen web site. Can some one explain how to install this so I can get the Market up and running on the watch. I already installed other apps like pandora and they work. Only thing is that I installed this with adb install command and not the via the market. Would love to have the market working. Please help.

If you downloaded the gapps from cyanogenmod as you should have, you need to adb push everything that isn't an apk.
There are a few libraries that need to be installed. adb push filename /file/location/name is the way to do this. The locations match the unzipped folder names.

I also need step by step directions please, bricked my watch
I tried to follow the directions and I finally got the phone to root. Then when applying the new interface it must have not liked the commands I was trying to use.
Can anyone give step by step directions. It took me about 2 hours to figure out what applications I needed and how to use them so I am sure others would benefit from this.
The directions on that original post was way too vague for us noobs

Oh, no... Are you sure your watch is bricked? That really is awful... I thought mine was for a bit after I used Super One Click to root it, but I was able to recover it by holding Start + Power for 10-15 seconds then plugging it in.
It seems zergRush is safer -- I ended up with root after that, but a couple of others in the #motoactv channel on freenode tried it and ended up with the phone seemingly dead (though a start+power off like above fixed it) and without root.
I posted this in the other thread but I am impatient and figured it wouldn't hurt to ask here too so,

Okay so last night I attempted to root my motoactv but my adb for some reason say it cannot load the root.img, I had the same problem where it's couldn't load the recovery.img for my photon when attempting to apply CWM or twerp recovery. Fastboot devices definitely sees both my devices (no I didn't do them are same time, and the files needed are in the same file location as instructed) and I can even Fastboot reboot and have that work. Any ideas or suggestions?? Any help would be appreciated.

Your system.img is defunct. PM me or come in IRC and I'll send you the links for them and more.

MOTOACTV update without Windows
I'd like to root my MOTOACTV. My clock is running version 4.53.50. To root I had to update at least to version 4.55.78. I found the file delta-ota-Blur_Version.4.53.50-4.55.78.Motorola-F100.Retail.en.US.zip but I've no idea how to flash that to my clock without Windows.
Any ideas?
Thanks.
This is my first post here so please don't hit me if I am doing something wrong.
So.. After a whole week trying to find a succesful way to root this f***ng phone, no success has been found.
I couldn't find this phone's section on XDA so I'm posting this on the general section...
If anyone could give me the link to the section, it would be very appreciated.
This is the phone:
Samsung Galaxy Trend 3 - SM-G3502C
Android Version: 4.3
Build Number: JLS36C.G3502CZCUAOD1
I have tried a number of on android apps, windows software, and even tried rooting manually by adb and linux. But couldn't have a single successful attempt or any signs of progress made...
Can anyone help me out with this phone, the reason I need root is because this is a chinese phone and doesnt have Play Store installed, and I need root access to install Play Store on /system/apps/ and give R+W permission...
Apps tried:
Saferoot
Kingo App Root
iRoot (vRoot/Root Master)
OneClickRoot
TowelRoot
A bunch of .bat rooting scripts
Baidu in-app Rooter
Rooting through ADB (everything was going fine until I had to access Ubuntu's Nautilus, to move the files to /system/ but the device wouldn't mount by MTP on download mode, and I couldn't access the files) link to the guide followed: http://forum.xda-developers.com/show....php?t=2684210
Any help would be truly appreciated, and If there is a way to install play store without the need of root access, or even a good replacement for play store would be really good.
Also, I have 0 experience on custom recovery, so, If any developer out there could create a custom recovery for this phone, I could give them the recovery.img from this phone and modify it to work on this phone. If that's the way it works, idk XD.
P.D. I already opened a thread on XDA-Assist but sorry, I had to move it, I saw that every post on that section had little views and replies and I was worried that this would happened to me on that section to me too. I'm ok if I need to erase it from there but I would like to leave it there for some time if there is any replies.
