I've mostly given up on browsing cause of the stupid ALWAYS ROTATE s*it the shove up our throat just 'case the iStuff has it. Even they put a rotation lock on the iPad.
If someone knows of a way to turn it off, please help!
I've already tried all the recommended stuff, most of it worked on 9.7, but nothing for the 10.
I tried the usual:
deleted opera from htc gsensor list
added the ideltime=100000000 registry string
searched and deleted anything remotely connected to it in the registry
I can't grasp why is it so hard to put an option for it in Opera???
I'm also willing to completely disable the gsensor.
IIRC I tried turning it off (in the HTC settings) in an older rom, but Opera still auto-rotated. Seems it only affected HTC apps
Have a look on my sig link

If you're referring to the Opera thread, it didn't help much. I posted the question there multiple times in the last year, and got no solution.
Shame to hear that, perhaps if you PM one of the masters over there, like lesscro

Actually, I don't believe I will. I've been look for a year for a solution, and still nothing. Even posted on the official Opera forums, still no replies.
I guess no body uses their phone for much browsing.
I did find a lousy workaround:
start Opera
press home button
position the phone at an comfortable angle
go back to Opera
hold the phone in that position
If you hold the phone still enough, it won't trip the darned auto-rotation.
Uncomfortable but kinda works.
The other one is to slide the keyboard out and use it in landscape mode, but that's even worse.
Opera 9.7
I had the issue wth Opera 9.7 as well, tried changing the registry etc. without success...
And solved with the help of BSB Tweaks 1.61.
1. Run Bsb tweaks.
2. Menu -> rotation
3. Select (check) Opera (opera_mainWndClass)
4. Options -> Rotation status -> disabled
5. Close -> Exit
6. Soft Reset
Other things such as album rotates, but opera doesn't.
Hope this helps.

hi there!
I downloaded JUVS HTC Large Titlebar and HTC Enlarge Start menu CABs and installed both on my E-TEN M800 (VGA).
They installed fine and I now have the "large start menu" item in my system settings.
But when I check the checkbox to turn it on, it still doesnt enlarge.
I rebooted the device and still nothing. I basically only need the zooming of the notification icons in the start-bar.
have I missed something? do i need additional files?
thanks
Bernhard
the old one just for QVGA, try this one, but dun know can it work on ETEN
thanks, but it doesn't work.
maybe it needs touchFLO so its only activated when you use the finger? or something like that?
No touchflow wouldnt make a difference on this. Unfortunatly some of the items on here will only work with HTC devices and i think this may well be one of them im afraid. Unless anyone else can shed any light
Tried the Large Start Menu once on my iPAQ, and what I found was that the service (htcStartMenuService.dll) doesn't automatically start. Using DotFred's Taskmanager to manually start the service made the large start menu appear... until the next soft reset.
The same thing probably happens with the large titlebar thing.
thanks ridolfo, this works!
now i have to find a way to start it automatically on reboot
makes my e-ten even more userfriendly!
edit: i just added this nice and useful taskmanager to my StartMenu and on reboot, i open it, go to the services tab and click the little start icon for the LargeTitleBar service. thats it.
works like a charm.
IIRC, you can even open it on the services tab, using a command-line switch. Have a look in the "About" screen for possible command-line switches (I think it's in the "About" screen, but I'm not sure).
I'm still hoping that someone can explain why some of the HTC services do auto-start, but others don't.
yes, because when you install the LargeTitleBar it correctly creates its entry in the Registry and is bound to be started, but somehow it doesnt.
In my brand new HTC Touch Cruise, large menu option is ticked, but after playing around with apps or settings it becomes small, allthough it's still ticked. I have to disable and reenable it to make it big again. It's a bit of a problem, as it happens often. Advice would be appreciated.
same problem
couldn't this problem be fixed by some registry entires ?
I mean to put an application into autostart shouldn't be a problem, well for me, as a hardcore newp it is acutally, but maybe not fo you guys
on my xperia x1 i've got the same problem .

Hi! at all!
Have you found a solution?
I tried to use very intereresting soft GSen but without success...After instalation and manually activation (by GSen.exe) it turns only File Explorer window or in case of activation from Programs it turns only Programs window. If I close File Explorer or Programs window it dosnt works...I tried many combination and settings - but without success. Do you have the same experience? Or any advice?
There are 3 files titled Gsen.exe I think... Make sure that if you open the shortcut twice, the second time it pops up a window saying "unload program?"... That's the right one. Also, when you open it, to confirm it's running there will be 1 white pixel at the very top center of the screen. I know for a fact it works on the Touch Pro, as I use it on mine. When it says "unload program" it's asking if you want to disable it, click yes if you don't want to use it anymore... Good luck.
Unfortunatelly a pixel signals that GSen is working...and sreens dont turn :-(

Hmmm... I know there was a config setting where you could choose what programs it does and doesn't work for, use the readme and just browse through the files to see what you can do. I can't say I tested it with a ton of applications, but I got like 3 or 4 to turn (and haven't used it since)... I'm a bigger fan of profile anyhow, I may as well have a Diamond with a memory card slot (excepting emails).
I have the same problem. I use the default configuration. So it should work, but it doesn't work. It just works with the program/window from which it was started.
I've already posted this problem in a German forum where the developer has a sub-forum, but I still didn't get an answer.
Sorry guys, we had an Raphael prototype device with AKU 1.3.1. and pre-alpha ROM for short time (testing time) in the past and it was working.
This is the reason why we wrote: Tested on HTC Raphael (Prototype)
On the basis of the missing new device and ROM, we are not able to check your problems.
Sorry again.
What a bummer! I hope you'll get a new device/ROM to test this soon ;-)
You are not alone with this kind of wishes.
Actually, there is just one VERY annoying problem with GSen 1.7 - it works for me (Touch Diamond, Dutty's 1.9) except onlyfor(1) - if this option is defined, windows are not recognized neither by class no by name or exe name... I believe this is not a matter of ROM, because I had this very problem on default ROM which I flashed to test if GSen will work... I also believe it could be not Diamond-specific...
CharlyV, could you please spend some time to find out if it's possible to resolve this?
Thanks in advance - I'm a loyal and official user of SKTools...
It doesn't work here either...
guys it even says so on gsen home page

This hack does NOT work with the Touch Pro as the Touch Pro will base most of its screen rotation on the sliding keyboard instead.
Gsen automatical loading??
Hey guys.
I've got some beginner's questions.
My gsen doesn't start automatically when I start my Diamond.
Is it normal?
Is it possible to do anything?
Thanks.
place shortcut into Windows\Startup directory

hi have loaded GSEN onto HTC touch HD and program worked well, i since put SPB plus and shell on and now GSEN wont work and also in the album section it wont allow finger scrolling. any ideas???
Anyone had any luck getting eithe of these working alongside TF3D?
The task switching doesn't work, most the time instead of taking you to the app you click on, it drops you into TF3D. Everything else works apart from this (the bit I use most). With TF3D turned off, it works fine.
I've using a trial of Wisbar Advance Lite for now, see if I get used to it's different way of doing it, but at leat it seems to work.
Anyone had any luck, or else just seeing the same behaviour?
I've got the same problem with Quickmenu v2.7 i could'nt switch between tasks either.
Also from the close apps menu there an items called "start" and you cannot close it that annoys me a bit to.
I don't use it for now untill i find a better app or newer version of Quickmenu.
Start.exe is I believe linked to TF3D, but even setting it to hide in QuickMenu didn't help, the same thing still happens. Still, nice to have confirmation it's not just me.
Wisbar Lite seems ok, but it would still be nice to have QuickMenu or SmallMenu back...
damn i love quickmenus hopefully someone gets it to work i want this phone once its out
has anyone tried it lately or have it working?

Start.exe is Manila and if you end this it restarts back your tfl3d.
I can confirm that sometimes some tasks are dropped right back to the touchflo3d screen but on a few occasions only. I have noticed that if you click on them longer, it finally restores the application.
I have since switched to wisbar advanced because of the other benefits and mainly fancy stuff not to mention to use some of TP's power it has a lot.

I had no problems hiding start.exe. Just make sure that after adding to the exclude list you select 'hide both' radio button (I hope I remember the terms correctly)

wisbar advanced isnt free though :/
My screen goes crazy. During a call up to my ear it flips to horizontal, changes out of key pad view and not always to mute/speakerphone... keys view, sometimes to contact info, and can be a nightmare to get back to "end call." I've found times when the caller hung up but the TP2 put them on hold and kept my time going.
Any programs and or reg hacks to:
1) stop the horizontal flip when placed to an ear, and
2) keep it in keypad mode or general call mode?
Real pain when dialing into a system that requires keypad responses. Everytime I put it back to my ear I have to go through a crazy sequence to get back to the key pad.
This is my only complaint wth this phone, it's not easy to use as a phone!
Thanks.
I have the same problem when dialing into VM, or into any call queue. I looked through the registry a bit. Didn't see anything obviously labeled.
yeah me too. Only thing I could find was using Gyrators' exception list to not rotate the phone, but it wasnt 100% reliable. I would *LOVE* to find a way to stay in keypad mode too.
Hi All - I guess I'm just jumping on the bandwagon but I have the same issue and find it annoying. I loaded the 'incall screen tweak' but that didn't work. Any help more seasoned members than I could offer would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers!!!
I had the same issue too, whenever I put my phone up to my ear (left handed) it would go into landscape. The fix is simple but you have to edit a registry setting. I'm going by memory here, so please forgive the vague info
1) make sure to backup your reg info
2) using your favorite reg edit program, goto
HKCU\Software\HTC\HTCSENSOR\GSensor\Whitelist
3) now this is the part I kind of forgot, you need to find a string with the DATA value that includes "phone" or "dailer"
4) delete that string
5)soft reset and give it a try, the phone shouldn't go into landscape whenever you turn it during a call.

OK, I went where you said, but no dialer, and only phone entry is:
Phone/Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
And deleting this stopped "lefty" in call flipping? Doesn't make sense to me. Doesn't seem to only control dialer or phone.
Please confirm or anyone out there please help. I don't want to delete something don't understand.
Can I simple change Dialog to something like "Zero" or "0"?

That's it! forgot what the process name was, but yeah, deleting that stopped the phone from trying to change to landscape during a phone call. Deleting that will tell the G-Sensor not to change the orientation of the phone's screen during a phone call, however it also tells it not to change the orientation during a picture (which wasn't a big deal for me cuz I can change it when I view them in windows). You can always look up the process in google or even the forum search tool if you're still scared.
If anyone else is interested I tried a "partial" delete of the suggestion above. I created a new string leaving out the Phone.
Lock/Compose/Picture
String= Dialog
deleted old string with phone/....
So far no more "lefty" crazy problems, and pictures seem to appear in landscape.
Here's hoping all is OK!

Awesome, good job!
I installed Gyrator 2. Just create a new event with the phone as the application. Nothing for orientation, nothing on stylus, and rotate screen for actions. Then promote the event to the top. Highlight your new phone event and select orientation, it will have a check mark and a number one next to the event. It hasn't failed on me yet and I use the key pad all day long with my job!
I just upgraded to the Verizon official WinMo 6.5 and the registry hack doesn't seem to work anymore, and I'm having issues getting Gyrator to work, has anyone resolved this issue for WinMo 6.5?

I haven't had any of the issues with the 6.5 upgrade that were mentioned with 6.1. Haven't needed to add S2U2 since the screen lock is built in and the phone is much more responsive when placed to the ear and then moved away to access the keypad. It's not perfect but vastly improved over 6.1...
I guess my point is try it the way it is with 6.5 and see if you thinks its better. leave gyrator and reg hacks aside for a few.
the question is as in topic
how to permanently turn off touch wheel or whatever its called ( the round thing to scroll things and zoom in/zoom out )
i have a problem because its broken and it just goes zooming or scrolling without any reason :O
So is there a tweak to turn it off even if i'm using xandroid (especially at this system)
Use a task manager (like dotfred's or sk tools) and open up the 'Services' tool, then stop the Smarttouch.dll service. I'm pretty sure that will kill the scroll wheel. You can also delete this registry key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Services\SmartTouch]
Click to collapse
Just stopping the service is safer, in case there are any bad side effects.
thanks i will check it later if it works ;]
i'm afraid it didn't help. Sense interface loops with turning it on and in xandroid still the same problem with scrolling lots of times ;]
Well, it's not going to help you with android. I'm not sure why it doesn't help with sense; disable sense, that's my recommendation.
yea but i use sense all the time
