Hi, I tried downloading a game to my phone (Pantech Matrix Pro). It was a .cab file and I have no idea what I'm doing but from what I found from google I think it's good if it's .cab. It has Windows Mobile on it (I think 6.1).
So when I tried opening it from my phone it said "Installing blablablaba..." then it stopped and said "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions."
After looking on google for an answer I found something about SDA_ApplicationUnlock so I connected my phone to my computer with a cable and with activesync like it told me to, then I double clicked SDA_ApplicationUnlock on my computer and it started up. Instead of actually doing something it said "Phone is not unlockable." After pressing OK it said "SDA successfully unlocked. PLEASE REBOOT SDA NOW!" Obviously that's wrong because it just said it didnt work.
So after looking that error up I found something about SP_AllowCertificateInstall or something like that so I put that on my phone and opened it from my phone. It was a .cab file. Guess what? "Installation was unsuccessful. The program or setting cannot be installed because it does not have sufficient system permissions." Just like before.
It's like a neverending circle thingy. What do I do??
Yes, the phone needs to be application unlocked. Here is how to do it. This is for the Samsung Jack, but it will work for the Matrix Pro.

Sorry if this has already been mentioned, but how can you check on the HD2 if there are any windows updates available?
About 10 minutes ago I got an allert tone on the phone, checked it and it said do I wamt to take part in the customer feedback program, I clicked on "dont send feedback" then another screen came up saying there might be a windows update for the phone.
It said connect over wifi or via active sync and it would check, I plugged it into the pc and then the phone froze (it does this on and off with active sync)
Anyway, I cant seem to find anywhere in any menu on the phone to click on "check for windows update"
Does anyone know where I can find this setting please?
hmm i would like to know this also...
dont think there is an option
\windows\autoupdate.exe
has anyone actually had this work?

Thanks anyway
I've bought deer hunter for x-box live today, funny thing happened.
After downloaded the game it asked "tap here" while installing, and I tapped it it says no information availiable, but failed to install. Then I deleted it from downloading and want to install again but I get "check install" on marketplace and there is NOTHING in install page... and nothing is downloading. I tried with Zune desktop and it says already purchased, there is no way to download again.
Is there any way to make the download working again without formatting the phone? This bug is just stupid...
Thanks a lot!!

Sorry you wasted your money on... that. It's really quite terrible. As for the error I've never had it but I googled it and it suggests plugging into zune and powercycling your device.

Thank you! But how to plug into zune and power cycle the device?
I'm trying to root my tf700, and although I have Unknown Sources checked, and the USB debugging checked, I still get the error that it needs to be turned on. And then I get the daemon is not running message. Is there another way to root my Infinity?
Also, my Build is 9.4.5.21, so I'm thinking of nvflash. The problem is that although I've unlocked the bootloader, I still see I have a firmware update pending. I'm afraid to install the upgrade, lest it moves me to the later build, and thus prevents me from using nvflash.
Can anyone offer some help on my inability to root? And advice on the firmware/nvflash situation? Thanks...
Which root process are you trying to use?
1click root or debugfs?

Sometimes switching usb plugs on the PC works.
I know a lot of folks in the forum have said that trying on a different PC also works.
Are you working with Win7 or XP or something different?
It says Daemon isn't running. And then next screen it says Rooting failed. System partition was not found
I'm using Windows 7.
Please excuse the stupid question.. but should the tablet be on a certain screen while this is going on? Or should it be off?

I suggest you re install android SDK. Download from here. Only install packages with android in it (should be 2)

Hmmm,
The tab should be on and connected as MTP I believe.
Is the tablet seen when clicking on the computer icon or in explorer?
Also check device manager to see if the tab shows up in there.
If the tab is plugged into a front USB (if using a Desktop PC) try a port on the back if available.
Oops edit!
Did you try downloading and installing the PCSuite from the Asus website?
Thats OK said:

I did the SDK install.... no difference. It is showing up on the PC. But I have not downloaded the PCSuite from Asus, since I've been afraid of going there, and getting tied up with the Sync issue. I had read that if I had the sync on, they can track the tablet along with reading the info, and even doing some extreme things if they felt I deserved it. I didn't know if I was supposed to register it before I unlocked it. or what. The odd thing is that I have unlocked it successfully.
i've also moved the usb connector to different ports but with the same result. I do notice, that now, it says after saying daemon is not running, that daemon started successfully. But then, it says Rooting Failed.... System Partition could not be found.
Is it possible to install nvFlash on an unlocked device, but one that is not rooted?
Lemme see here...
Ur right clicking the .bat file then running as admin then?
http://androidroot.mobi/t3_nvflash/
...on the mobi blog it just says to be unlocked and have nerves of steel.
I had a nightmare getting the Win 7 drivers to install.
I eventually gave up and used Linux...
Nerves of steel is right. I'm about to try the procedure on another computer. Hmmmm. Is the sync app from Asus relatively safe to use? someone said it worked for them after they installed it.
If I'm sweatin' it now,... can you imagine how I'm a tremblin' with the nvFlash install ahead of me?
My ol' gTablet never gave me this much stress. :highfive:

Man I know...I was always afraid to do anything at first.
I was pretty afraid of a 500 dollar lesson gone wrong...then one day I said "what the hell man up"
So here I am today a satisfied customer!
I have PC Suite installed, I had registered and unlocked so Big brother Asus had my number from the beginning.
Seems like PC Suite is the only way in certain cases.

Well, it did not work on the second computer... And now, what I get is, daemon does start, and the cursor moves to a new line, and just blinks back at me ... ouch. Didn't I just feel silly waiting for 30 minutes, and nothing happened? Reminded me of the cat that just sits and watches the curtains move. Ah well. So, I am unlocked, but also unrooted. Does anyone happen to know if the one click app works with our Infinity? I getting desperate enough to pay. :crying:

I'm Rooted!
Whew!... Thanks to all who responded and pointed me in the right direction. It was not pretty. I encountered a number of errors. I'll list them below, in case anyone else is having the same problem/s I had.
1. After you choose "1" from the debugfs menu, it ends up saying "Rooting failed. System partition was not found." Check to see if the device is being seen. How you do this is go to the same directory you unzipped the files you downloaded, and start a command line from this directory. The question was how? Press the Shift key, while right clicking on the directory where adb.exe is, and you will get a window with a prompt. This is a very useful window. type "adb devices", and you should see some datafline" and then a code number followed by "device". Naturally, mine was not there. If this is not there, type " adb kill-server" Then "adb device", and hopefully, if the stars align correctly. You will see your device there with it's code. If not, then you have to check the device manager, and check the drivers. To do this... Go to the start box in lower left of window bar, and type "device manager". The file will be listed, click on it. and you should see your device listed. I found it twice.. once by itself using, and again under Portable Devices. I clicked on these, and updated the drivers to the ones in the same directory with the files you unzipped. Hopefully that will work. If it doesn't you might have to uninstall them, and reinstall them.
2. After all that, you still might not get past option 1 in the menu. Possible error, "more than one device found". So, you have to check if anything else is interfering. [I'm not sure if this was the culprit but as soon as I removed my Zunes, I was good to go].
3. And then option 1 gets a little further along and goes off to never never land. So... I moved to option 2, Manual entry of the partition. It warns you to not go into this section if you are not sure. Naturally, I shook off my cold sweat and plunged ahead. The address I used, from another post was "/dev/block/mmcblk0p1", and that seemed to work.
4. Then.... the app got stuck trying to reboot the device. You can check if it is seeing the tablet by the "adb devices" check. If is not, you have to fiddle with the drivers again.
5. Finally, after a number of tries, and a lot of colorful venting... it went through... and I was rooted.
Whew! It was ugly... But finally. :fingers-crossed:
I relate my story to encourage anyone who might be discouraged by the roadblocks. Hang in there, and as they say... "Never Give Up. Never Surrender!"
Now to tackle installing nvFlash. I have my blankie all ready.
AWESOME!
Way to go slugger!
So was another media device "Zunes" plugged up in another port?
You have done well!
It's pretty fulfilling to wind thru all this and come out with a desired result.
Thanx for the low down.
It will mean a lot to others having trouble.
Thumbs raised kiddo!
nvFlash adventures...
Again, thanks to the wonderful support from the wonderful folks here.:highfive:
Just to end on an even higher note, I wanted to add that I was able to install nvFlash, and generate my "Resurrection Files". I don't know if this is allowed on this forum to include a link, but I followed this video
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J3ypzUaKxvo&feature=colike
which seemed to anticipate some of the very same roadblocks I encountered. So, now, I can look about that "firmware update" notification that keeps flashing in my bar.
My Infinity adventure continues...
Anyone having issues with AFT and the GS7? When I plug in the GS7, AFT launches but I get an error that the device is locked, even though it isn't (screen is on and it's unlocked). I've tried removing security just to eliminate that, doesn't help.
Other Android 6.0 devices work fine with AFT so it's clearly GS7 related.
Particularly annoying because you can't yet write directly to the External SD card

When you connect S7 to the MAC, it says cannot connected, but a popup appears on your phone. Allow it, and don't disconnect the USB cabel. Once again, start Android File Transfer App. This is how it works. Each time when you plug S7 in, you have to allow the connection on the phone, after that it works until you disconnect S7.
When I plug mine in and change the setting to media transfer on the phone AFT pops up and says "try reconnecting or restarting your device" then closes. Every time

Please don't assume we're rookies. It does not work. Even after clicking "allow" for permissions, it fails every time.
Also don't assume every variant is the same.
For anyone who seems to be hitting a dead end, this completely solved my problem...

Your solution didn't work for me, I still have to allow access for the computer each time I connect the S7. After allowing it works flawlessly.

Yes, that's true. I couldn't get it to connect no matter what, without uninstalling Kies. That was my OP.

OK, I found a real solution: install Samsung Smart Switch and update it. When phone is connected (don't have to allow) there is a small arrow on the right side of the name of your device, expand it, and a small folder icon opens a file manager like AFT. By the way it has also a backup/restore/update/syncMAC function without root.
If you have been getting a response when plugging in a Galaxy S7 or Galaxy S7 edge, do the following:
Go the the Kies website and download Kies for Mac.
Next, openKiesMacSetup.dmg which you've just downloaded.
Click Uninstall. Your Mac will ask you to open the app, so you'll need to open it.
Once it's done uninstalling Kies you probably had on your computer from a while back and no longer use, once you plug in your new GS7 or GS7 edge, and open the AFT application on your Mac, it should still give you a weird response, but on your phone, this time it'll ask you if you're ready to connect your phone and open it up to see files on your computer. Select that you do, and it'll work.
A Finder window opens, and the model number will appear in the center of the Finder window with the requisite files.
Actually, unless I missed it, nobody touched on the solution, which is incredibly simple. I found it on accident. The default setting for the GS7 is to CHARGE when plugged into a Mac (maybe PC too?). Swipe the top notification area, tap "charging" and switch it to file transfer, or photo, or whatever else you want. Good luck!!!
Fixed it for me just now
I was having all of the above issues. What worked for me was completely removing all traces of Android File Transfer (including other mobile sync applications) with AppDelete. Then I reinstalled Android file transfer, plugged my phone in, tapped "Allow", and it worked!

I struggled with this, as well. I even uninstalled all KIES drivers form my Mac and AFT still didn't work with my S7 until I did the following:
(1) Plug the S7 USB into the Mac.
(2) Down swipe the status bar at the top and you should see a "USB Charging" status.
(3) Tap on the "USB Charging" status and a menu with radio buttons should pop up.
(4) Choose the "File Transfer" option.
After doing that, AFT worked properly and it didn't even require me to click "Allow" or anything else. It just worked.
mickliq's solution worked for me as well (hadn't been able to connect an s7 or s6 to a mac air osx 10.11.4 until downloading and uninstalling Kies). Thanks!

I succeed to solve it by removing SideSync on Mac
I had the same problem and discover that it was SideSync that make Android File Transfer not working.
