I saw and tried the Windows Update on my TP2(Sprint) yesterday and it ran but was unsuccessful. I tired it both using the Sprint service and connected to my computer via the USB cable and both attempts were unsuccessful.
Is the Windows Update on a WinMo device the same as it is on a desktop? Is there something in my settings that won't allow it to process through to the server and connect? There's alot that's new to me on these Smartphone devices as I've been a PDA user for years and never had alot of these options.
Help and thanks for the education.
The Update "feature" has never done anything at all on any of several devices I've had on which it was installed.

It is a feature that does work, however I don't believe any OEM has ever implemented it on a branded device.
So it's not exactly like the Update on our Windows PCs? I tired it when connected to my PC, using wireless network and using the Sprint Network and every time it says the same thing.
Hi,
I've receieved a HTC Mozart as an evaluation device from Telstra for my company, but when I boot it up it does not seem to go through the normal setup process.
It boots and when it is pre-populated with some data such as contacts, text messages, emails, calander entries, etc. I have hard reset the device and it comes back to the same place after it goes through the loading process, at no stage am i prompted to enter my windows live ID or anything like that and there is already an example account present.
Is this some sort of demonstration mode the phone is set in???
Thanks,
Ryan
i would suggest contacting telstra? maybe they sent you a demo model by mistake? though to be honest if this was that case that would be one of the most funniest things they could do to a customer. it was just halloween? didn't you give them a treat?

We all know Sol took all the treats with him when he left LOL
Everytime i unlock the phone it get a text message that tells me welcome to windows phone 7 and the screen saver is a demo that says 'touch to begin' and I am unable to use my windows live login as there is an account called [email protected] that cannot be deleted and cannot be changed.
Try flashing the std ruu package from the mozart forum? Might have a demo rom on it.
Are you able to hard reset it?
If not then contact Telstra and they should replace it.
How do I install the generic RUU on the mozart? I have been a blackberry user previously.
Mate, dont bother, take it back to telstra.

It Would seem not all people actually read the questions in these forums very well - having acquired one of these STORE DEMO ROM Mozarts as well I know exactly what you are saying - Mate - Check my post Under the Telstra ROM in the ROM section of Mozart Development Forum. Should be around post 3.
This is how I reflashed/unlocked from store demo mode and now have a fully functioning HTC Mozart.
Should help you out.
I believe i purchased a store demo HTC Surround, as it does exactly what you describe your mozart doing. I hope soon there will be a way to flash the rom because my battery dies from all the bogus updates and the screensaver or splash screen. any help would be greatly appreciated.
Yes, anyone here please plz plz plz help us out with this annoying thing ever. ....
GREAT GREATLY Appreciate ... it makes me piss off !!!
It's amazing how many of these demo phones make it out in the real world.

Held Volume Down Key while Pressing Power Button (This turns the phone on and launched Bootloader)
Connected to PC Waited about 5 minutes while Windows auto detected the drivers and installed what it needed
Right Mouse clicked on the downloaded Rom and selected "Run as Administrator"
Followed the prompts.

This morning while trying to install calleridfaker.apk onto my phone i accidentally was able to unhide the "unknown sources" option on my HTC Inspire 4G.
Here is exactly what happened:
1.> I downloaded the .apk from 4shared.com and put it onto my sdcard using a USB connection.
2.> Then I opened astro file manager (you can download this from the market for free), went into the "sdcard" folder, found the .apk file and hit install. A message popped up saying installation of 3rd party apps has been disabled for security reasons, please go to settings to change this.
3.> I hit the settings button on the pop up and it took me to 'settings->applications', and there it was right on top, "Unkown sources: Allow installation of non-Market applications". I hit the check mark and everything was good to go . I have rebooted my phone twice since then and the Unknown Sources option is still there.
P.S. This is my first post on xda-developers. Sorry if this was already known but I felt like I needed to share this with the world. Just trying to help .

First, welcome to XDA.
What probably happened is your unrooted phone got the "silent" update from ATT that enables sideloading.
In any case, go root your phone anyway...
Yep, ATT has allowed/opened this option and has pushed this update to the inspire approx a month or so ago. So enjoy the new feature and welcome to xda.
I still do not have it (North Florida) - so annoyed as I install from Dropbox...

You're going to have to take matters into your own hands, probably, if you're tired of waiting... Call up ATT and have them push it on the spot to your phone.
...or root.
Good luck! I have been trying to get this pushed to my phone for a week, Att tech support has been completely useless. Will be rooting phone this weekend.

Hmmm. That's interesting. Others have reported it as being no longer than a 10 minute process. I guess it just depends on who you get on the phone or something.
Damn, I thought I had discovered something cool . Thanks guys for telling me before I went around making a fool out of myself, telling everybody I had "discovered" something. Lol .
Also, to everyone who hasn't gotten the 'silent update' yet, I usually tend to get updates whenever I hook up my phone to my PC as a 'Disk drive'. Would explain how I got it trying to sideload. Might wanna try that out.

Well, I don't think hooking it up to your pc was anything more than a coincidence, as that silent update was OTA. There's nothing that physically connecting the phone to a pc would do to initiate an OTA update via ATT.
yeah , i haven't gotten he update either...i'll be rooting this weekend
I know ATT used to push the updates out for all phones when you rebooted your phone. So if you never turn your phone off and on, that might be the reason for not getting the update yet.
Thanks i was looking for calleridfaker for long time couldnt remrmber name of it. Thanks

Hello,
My Lumia 710 is not recognized by Zune, I've tried all possibilities that are in the forums and Microsoft ZUNE and still does not.
Help please
If you've literally tried "all the possibilities that are in the forums" I'm not sure why you expect we'll be able to help you, but...
Make sure you're using the original cable (not all USB cables work, it's stupid, and no, just because you bought it along with the phone doesn't count; use the one that came in the box).
Make sure your Zune software is up to date (it *should* prompt to install).
Make sure your PC has the WP7 drivers installed (if it doesn't, connect the phone then install the driver using Device Manager and searching Windows Update).
Try different USB ports.
Make sure the cable is firmly seated at both ends.
Give Zune a few seconds, I've seen it take up to ~15 seconds to detect the phone although it's normally almost instant.

Oh well, so it's not just me. I've literally tried everything in order to sync my GF's 710 but no way. Are you getting the "Can't Connect to Your Phone. Disconnect it, Restart it, Then Try Connecting Again" error message?
I tried this solution http://www.governor.co.uk/news-plus...ect-it,-restart-it,-then-try-connecting-again which apparently worked for many but it doesn't work for me: I haven't got anything under "Personal", and for the second part I cannot locate the folder C:\Users\<UserName>\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Crypto\RSA, the path isn't right for me.
Where can I find that stupid RSA folder? Any clue?
I'm really stuck here, apparently I'm getting this error on 2 laptops: my GF's one with Vista and mine with Win7. This is really annoying...
I've solved this problem, in my case, just run in compatibility mode with Windows Vista, and puff...Work fine now.
Thx for the answers

I have tried the Usb Video Option a few times nothing change, but the phone video
gets slower and a bit laggy,
theres no reaction from Phone also no Reaction from PC,
I think it has something to do with the first Charge problem.

I added this one to the original post,,
I do personally not care as long as it charges
PC Sync
Alright... Tried the DFRouter all night from Zune mode to Router and back. Tried the USB Mode, HTC Sync, etc and nothing worked to sync. I have installed WMDC6.1 and Windows Phone Manager with no success, ZUNE still wont detect. (I am on Windows8).
Tried to turn on and off the device center app included and still cannot get to sync.
I like sync because I take ALOT of pictures and the AUTO upload to skydrive does not upload the FULL RES pictures. Also have alot of music that I like to keep going back and forth with... But I can live without this for a while. I will try BT Sync when I get home tonight as it did not occur to me while testing yesterday.
_______________________________
On another note, for those that dont want the Chinese apps on the phone, just install the english ones and it will overwrite them (DFT-Bluetooth and the WMDC app that are both in the Settings) once you have installed them they will show up on your regular list, you can then OPT to delete them or use them.

Well, with this ROM I am not able to charge my phone at all. Now I am stuck at an automatic shutdown loop. Am I able to charge my phone with the bootloader opened?
Edit: have to charge the battery via my old touch diamond 2, they're nearly identical in size. So I will be able to flash back to my previous ROM.

I was going to report on this too... I was giving it the benefit of the doubt and waiting for the "FULL CHARGE" as it is reported with these ROMs that your first full charge wont report. But now I have given it a fully charged battery (From a Evo Shift, same like the diamond2 ) and put it to charge, it still does not charge the phone.
Could this also be the reason our Sync is affected?
no syncing and charging
I tried the ROM version for Gold, but since there's no battery charging, no ZUNE syncing and since I couldn't use cab sender to upload language cabs, I'm installing previous custom ROM and backup :fingers-crossed:.
Moreover, I couldn't see anything in the HTC Hub live tile, only the location name...
Honestly, I didn't try to use directly WP7EasyBackup to restore or WPV App Data Backup to get back my apps...

I have the feeling, that the entire USB port is disabled in some way. Maybe a faulty or wrong driver.
