HTC Touch Pro Bootloader & Flashing works, but won't switch on for OS - Touch Pro, Fuze General

Hi,
I think this is a wierd one. I have a Vodafone Touch Pro and it will go into bootloader (strangely by vol down and power button only, so does my other one despite what the internet states), it will even hard reset (which completes) but will not start up on power at all. I push the power button, even hold it down and nothing, not even a vibrate, slight glow from screen, key glow or flashing lights. Phone does not charge, judging by the lack of a glowing ring either.
What I have tried:
Leaving battery out over night
Hard reset
Flashing OEM Vodafone ROM (completed fine)
Tried putting battery back on charge
Tried leaving on charge (battery in and battery out)
Could anyone help me out with this?
I know my old HTC Vox never started up with the slide open, could it be something simple like a stuck switch?
Many thanks,
Tristan

Anyone have any ideas?

Vox stuck in loop

Hi,
After seeing the overclocking thread on this forum, I decided to have a go and installed the tornado power control on my unlocked Vodafone v1415, along with appropriate shortcuts to start it automatically at boot.
All seemed well at first, but after setting the speed at very low (132 MHz) to see if it improved battery life, my phone started automatically rebooting, in a loop. I removed / replaced the battery and rebooted, which stopped it looping, but now I just get the home screen and when I unlock the keylock, the phone completely locks up and turns itself off.
I've tried all permutations of hard reset keys (both soft keys held down and a quck press of the power button, all 3 held together, etc) and even tried to get into the bootloader (camera & power ?), but nothing seems to work - whatever I do, the phone boots as normal and then crashes when it loads the tornado power control.
What I need is the equivalent of windows safe mode, where tornado doesn't get started automatically, because I'm sure that if I could uninstall it, all my problems would be fixed.
Anyone have any ideas ?
thanks

Help! MY MDA does not boot

Hi,
I have upgraded my MDA to NO EVIL ROM Windows mobile 6 version from this forum. Device was working great for couple of weeks. Now suddenly it stopped booting. When I do soft reset the
S.N.E ... Presents screen comes up.
Then HTC Wizard screen comes up
The Touch No Evil screen come up and then it stays at the same screen. It does not respond even to power button now.
The radio light (green light) blinks. The system does not respond to even hard reset.
I am tosed. Please help. Any response to recover from this situation is usefull.
Thanks in advance...
From the sounds of it, something you have installed or configured isn't allowing the phone to finish booting. You basically have 2 choices at this point... Hard Reset or Reflash the phone.
When you say hard reset doesn't work, are you sure you are doing a hard reset? Pull the battery out and let the phone rest for a minute or so. Press the power button a couple of times (yes with the battery out) to discharge any power in the device. Then put the battery back in, and press the top two buttons on either side of the phone (Comm and Record), and while holding those in press and release the power button. After a couple of seconds you should have a black screen with white text asking you about resetting the phone. Press the Send key (the green phone key that you use to answer the phone) and you will have completed the Hard Reset. If you get errors then you need to tell us what they are. If you never get the black screen with white writing then you aren't holding the buttons down correctly.
To reflash the phone, put it in bootloader (press and hold the recorder button while pushing in and releasing the reset button (or while turing the phone on)). Once you get the tri color screen, hook up the USB cord and it should say USB in the lower left. Now you can flash it (even though the phone won't connect to ActiveSync).
Good luck and hope that helps.
Able to reboot
Thanks for the advise. After several tries, was able to hard reset and started booting and working OK.
I have not done any soft reset after this event. What should I look for to correct, if any errors.?. do you recommend that I reflash the ROM?. The only software, I had installed was Microsoft Voice recorder. I have not installed the same after the reboot.
Thanks
ANother issue
Now after resetting, I see my phone getting into vibration mode all the time. Even if I set to ring mode, it will automatically go back to vibration mode after some time. Any idea on how to fix the same?.
Thanks

HTC Magic bricked?

Hi all,
i'm afraid today i bricked my HTC Magic (Vodafone)
The brick happened after flashing an SPL
now, turning the phone on, it gets stuck on the Vodafone logo.
I can't get to fastboot (i tried various combinations). how much time should I keep battery off/press keys/wait for fastboot?
The only different behaviour I get is a totally black screen and a blue led on when booting by pressing end call+trackball
Do you think I really bricked it? I am desperate!
Thanks for any advice
Mauro
Me too :-(
I think I also bricked my HTC Magic too. Any help?
try taking the battery out, holding the 'back' key and putting the battery in then (if it doesn't power on automatically) while still holding the back key hold the power key down.
Yesterday I got my phone from the Vodafone store @ Groningen, Netherlands. I used it normally, installed one or two mainstream programs from the market and did nothing else to it. Yesterday @ about 20:00 the trackball lit up putting out a continous bright white light. I searched the internet for a feature that could do this because I could still use the phone. Besides the trackball there was nothing noticeably wrong with it. Because I found no such features I decided to turn the device off and on again. Once I pressed on the red button to get it on, the trackball immediately lit up. When the red button was pressed for about 3 seconds a blue led lit up at the top of the device and the screen stayed black, nothing happened. I pulled out the battery, put it in again and pushed the red button for 1 sec. The trackball, again, lit up but the blue light didn't pop up. Now when I ticked the red button the blue led would flash and go off..
The vodafone store said I was the first to bring back a HTC magic, they contacted the repairservice and they said they didn't even know the magic had a code in which the rainbow led emitted blue. They treated it as DOA and gave me a new one. This one works fine, I'm very happy with this phone but still wondering what was wrong with my last.
Anyone any guesses?
To goliahandroid
I had the same issue, it was stuck forever in the vodafone logo, and fastboot mode or recovery modes didn't work at all, no matter what combination of buttons, after an incomplete SPL update.
The only thing slightly different was keeping the trackball pushed when pressing the power button, lighted up the led light in blue, and nothing else, no logo or any other activity.
I thought it was completely bricked, but no. Here's what i did
With the phone off, connected the USB cable, then powered it up. While it was still frozen on the logo screen, i could actually issue fastboot commands, so I was able to send a fastboot boot recovery.img and flash again the SPL, and a new ROM. No problem after that.
Hope this helps someone

Help! Bricked Phone Warranty Dilemma

I just received a new Fuze from AT&T as a warranty replacement (my old one was draining the battery quickly, overheating, etc.). I reverted the old one back to stock and that is ready to be sent back.
Now the issue: I opened up the new one. Powered on, seemed okay at the time (now I remember that I bumped it and it randomly reset at the carrier splash screen, didn't think much of it then, but clearly a problem). It seemed to work okay, so I flashed HardSPL and put on a custom ROM. Continued to work okay. Then I turned it off.
This morning, I go to turn it on, find it will not power on at all. Then I try again, after pulling the battery, and it starts booting, but then I jiggle it a little and it shuts off. Try it again, it freezes at the carrier screen. Basically it won't turn on.
Now I put the battery in the Fuze I'm sending back (which at least boots) and find that overnight, with the phone off, the battery dropped from 95% to less than 5%!
Basically I think this phone is a dud, but I need to get it back to stock SPL and ROM to send it back! I'm currently re-charging the battery in the old Fuze in the hopes I can get the new one to boot.
Any thoughts or solutions?
Still no luck in booting up even with a full battery...anyone have any ideas??
try this...it worked for me when i had a similar problem...!
1. Pull out the stylus.
2. With the device turned on, press and hold the VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons, then press the RESET button with the stylus tip.
3. Continue pressing the RESET, VOLUME DOWN and CENTER buttons until you see this message on the screen:
This operation will delete all your personal data, and reset all settings to manufacturer default. Press ?VolUp to restore manufacturer default, or press other keys to cancel.

Yeah thanks I would definitely try to do a hard reset...problem is the phone won't turn on
Any other thoughts? I am thinking I will just have to send the phone back to AT&T as is in the hopes that it really is bricked completely and that they won't turn it on to find a custom ROM and HardSPL.
That sounds like a bad idea; if they find out you hacked the new one, they're gonna be pissed that you sent in the previous phone for exchange.
So, you can't get it into bootloader, to at least flash back to the stock rom? You said it wouldn't boot up, but how about plugging it in and seeing if you can get in bootloader? That's what I'd do. You actually don't need the battery once you're in bootloader, if you have it plugged into a wall charger or connected to a PC through a usb cable.
Basically, the phone stays dark what ever I do. I can't get into the bootloader or anything, the screen and all lights won't come on, period. The battery works fine in other phones as well. Very puzzling.
Any other ideas? I suppose if they do manage to get the phone to power on, I can just play dumb about HardSPL...I've even read about people getting phonse with HardSPL back from the warranty department. The phone is probably bricked anyway from what I can see, so I guess if they manage to spark it to life, I will just have to play dumb...

broken fuze. powers on as soon as battery is popped in

So I've had my fuze a little over a year now, no major issues. Used mostly energyroms, but about December time I switched back to a simple non-bloated stock rom for the stability.
Anyway today at work I was texting, and I press the power button to put the phone in standby. And the screen remains on and usable. I tried again and it would not go into standby (power button physically feels normal, it does not feel loose or abnormal.) So i let it sit for a few minutes, then i look at it and a message poped up asking if i wanted to turn the phone off (like as if i was holding the power button)so i press no, then it comes up again a few seconds later and aagain and again. So I soft reset the phone.
The phone resets but takes a LOT longer at the att/htc splashscreen, then it hangs at the htc screen and does not make it to the wimo screen, but instead an error screen saying:
"The device is unable to boot because you have either turned off the device incorrectly or tried to install an applicationa from an untrusted source, press SEND to reset your device or press any other button to cancel..."
I think it went through the hard reset this time because when it restarted it asked to calibrate the screen and install stuff. it resets again sometime after that, still takes forever at the splash screen and comes back up to the error, only this time no matter what button i press it wont go away and boot into wimo. It seems like none of my buttons work (they wont light up now) when i slide out the keyboard, it is not lit up like normally.
And heres the kicker, my only way to turn on/off the phone is to take out/put in the battery. As soon as I pop the battery back in the fuze turns on. Is my phone toast? Ive tried to hard reset and the phone does not reach the bootloader, it goes straight to the splash screen. Same with trying to reflash it from my comp, raphealwrapper cannot find my phone.
I've only recently encountered the exact same problem on my Touch Pro, but stock ROM and everything. As far as I can tell, our power buttons are busted and probably need to be serviced. One of the contacts must be stuck in the 'on' position somewhere inside :\ As a temporary fix, I've been using AEButton Plus and remapped double tap end call key to turn the screen off, and removing the stylus to turn it on.
