[APP] PSX4Droid ~ Compatibility list. - Nexus One Themes and Apps

Since there isn't one yet (albeit there was a thread asking for one).
Lets get an organised compatibility list going (Mods feel free to shift this if it's in the wrong place).
So we can get the best idea of which games work, how well they work, on which phones they work I'd like people to post their findings with additional information. Please use the following template:
--Game--
Name: (full name)
Version: (PAL/NTSC/etc.)
Format: (ISO/BIN/EBOOT/etc.)
--Phone--
Model: (self explanatory)
Modifications: (list any overclocks, custom roms, etc. here)
--Compatibility--
Working?: (Yes/No, whether the game even loads)
Performance Summary: (A very short 1-2 word performance summary ie. Good/Bad/Unplayable etc.)
Performance Details: (More detailed summary of performance. Framerate, choppiness, slowdown, sound quality etc. How well the game runs.)
Known bugs: (Any specific issues you've run into)
--Misc--
BIOS: (Generally SCPH1001.bin for NTSC games or SCPH7502.bin for PAL)
Notes: (Any additional points you want to mention, leave blank otherwise)
The hope is we can collate these together and get a more detailed view of what's working and what's not. Right now it's hard to tell if the emulator is to blame for your game not running or your rips/bios are.
So to kick it off:

I cant get my resident evil to work, it works on PC but I can't get it to launch on PSX4DROID - iso, ntsc.
Also all of my ps1 games are not in great condition so that might be contributing.
I cant even get Crashbandicoot 3 to launch : (

Have updated the FF VIII one for you, was up playing it last night for a few hours. Will test more games as they get downloaded. If anyone needs help getting the ROMS (in ISO format so no trouble with it) or the Bios just PM me and I can let you know.

Maybe i should just change bios? I can try the one youre using..

I tried Final_Fantasy_IX, and it runs better. But does it matter what format i choose?
I just send the .bin and .cue too the SD card.
Thanks.

Resident Evil 2, Claire and Leon.iso - Both work perfectly fine, some moments it may get a little slow, that everything seems to be going in slow motion but most times it runs smooth.
Gran Turismo.iso - Works but it seems to be buggy, my cars won't accelerate when I hold down X, it goes between 1st gear and reverse so I get no where, still looking into it.
Tomba! 2.img - Works but very slow, playable but slow.
Parasite Eve Disc 1&2.iso - Works perfect.
Resident Evil.iso - Didn't work for me, just stood on a black screen.
Einhander.bin - Works perfect
Final Fantasy VIII Disc 1-4.iso- Works almost perfect, except battles seem just a little slow, nothing noticeably bad. Where you'll have trouble is the world map where is just seems like it froze on you but in fact it's going like 1-5fps so you'll be struggling to get to places, but I'm fine dealing with that.
Phone - Nexus One 2.2 FRF91 with 2.6.34 Cyanogenmod kernel and 1.1ghz over clock but clocked at 1.075ghz
Bios - SCPH1001.bin

--Game--
Name: Final Fantasy VII
Version: NTSC
Format: BIN
--Phone--
Model: Motorola Droid
Modifications: Android 2.1
--Compatibility--
Working?: Yes
Performance Summary: Good
Performance Details: Sound is choppy overall and battles are a little choppy. Frame rate does not drop below the fun/nostalgia threshold.
Known bugs: N/A
--Misc--
BIOS: SCPH1001.bin
Notes: Runs as though it were on a down-clocked Playstation.

Name: Final Fantasy VII
Version: NTSC
Format: BIN
--Phone--
Model: HTC EVO
Modifications: CM6
--Compatibility--
Working?: Yes
Performance Summary: Great
Performance Details: Works great, sound quality is perfect. I had to set the refresh rate at 30 or it's unplayable (low FPS, bad sound quality)
Known bugs: Text in some parts of the menus is difficult to read (random letter is black while the rest is white, distorted a little bit)
--Misc--
BIOS: SCPH7502.bin
Notes: I tried SCPH1001 but the performance was terrible, but I hadn't tried messing with the refresh rate until I tried SCPH7502. Probably would work the same with either.

I got Final Fantasy Tactics working perfectly (it seems so far) on Nexus One running Rods old CM6 ROM.

Confirmed working (all flawlessly so far) on Nexus One using Cyanogens Nightly, overclocked to 1190MHz:
Final Fantasy Tactics.PBP
Final Fantasy VII.PBP
Hot Shot Golf II.PBP
Breath of Fire III.PBP
Gran Turismo 2.PBP (a tad bit slow)
Warcraft II.PBP
I downloaded most of these as .bin.ecm then unecm'd them, then used the program to convert/compress them to PBP (PSP boot). Haven't run across a single one not working so far since doing it this way. When trying to run them as bin, I came across a lot that wouldn't work. Taking that same exact download file and doing the above process, they worked perfectly.
Compression using icetea1.3 halves the file size in some instances, just an FYI.

[App] M3D Benchmark [ (UPDATED) last version: v2.00b]

(M3D Benchmark)
Hello
I want to show you a new Benchmark app which you can almost understand how much is your android device power to handle 3d games and apps.
This Benchmark is created with Unity 3d game engine (game engine of Shadowgun) and it is based on OpenGL ES 2.0 with This API (OpenGL ES 2.0) your device can handle Advanced rendering techniques like rendering bump maps. The Cost of M3D Benchmark is 0.00$ or in other words it's Free.
Maybe you want to say this benchmark is heavy ! it might be true ! but you should know in this benchmark there are lots of trees and flowers Also there are particle systems such as rain, and there are bump maps and etc.
Most contents of this benchmark is from unity3d BootCamp Demo in another word it’s almost a MOD.
Now I want from you to help me to create it better and I want from you submit your result (AVERAGE FPS) via posting your replies (please write your device model, your Rom version also it is better you upload a screenshot from your result).
M3D Benchmark is Developed by knight93.
Some notes:
1-last version of M3D Benchmark is v2.00b(http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1370745&page=23 (Post 228))
2-You need Froyo 2.0.1 and an OpenGL ES 2.0 supported device at minimum.
3-Because of M3D Benchmark (from v1.10 to v1.20) apk file size (About 28MB) installation may take up to 2 minutes.
4-If you can’t install the App please check up install from unknown sources permission.
5-Screen shot of splash image is simulated in pc.
6-it's better you don't allow to your device became lock (for example tap your screen)also you can increase your device display time out instead of touching display.
7-v1.00 is deleted because of it's problem,(v1.20 is available:http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=21613547&postcount=171) , version 1.10 isn't final version and performance is really finalized.
Thank you
I wait for your comments.
please write the version of m3d benchmark which you have tested.

Finally after rooting MSI Windpad Enjoy 7 & 10, It's time to check which apps and games are running smoothly on our devices, which one's useful and which one's full-compatible, please share your experience, here is mine:
ROM: Android Gingerbread 2.3.1 - Official MSI 0224 [ROOTED]
System Apps:
System Panel: A good task manager with extra features, I found it better than Advanced Task Killer
ROM Toolbox: After root, it's a must!
Notification Toggle
MyPhoneExplorer
Total Commander
Hardware Info
MultiLing Keyboard: It's light and supports many languages
Go Keyboard: Has options and a special add-on for tablet
SwiftKey Tablet X: Specialized for tablets, heavy but really nice (HD Themes)
Chainfire 3D: Provides an intermediate setting for your GPU, helps running some heavy games cannot be run normally
Launchers:
LauncherPro: Runs smoothly but as it's not specialized for Tablets, the icons are smaller than usual in both drawer and home screen
ADW Launcher: It's good, but not as smooth as LauncherPro. Icons are big, drawer has better graphic effects.
Go Launcher: The last ver I tried on my tablet was not smooth as the two above.
SPB Shell 3D: Doesn't run as smoothly as first two launchers but has some benefits like 3D effects, large icons, more widgets and high-quality wallpaper support for home screen(I couldn't find this, in any other launcher)
Nemus Launcher: is the best launcher I found for Enjoy devices, Low memory usage, fast & smooth, Tablet compatible, High quality icons and widgets, Theme support, fully compatible with screen sizes, Eye candy effects and options,...
GO Launcher HD: It's a special version of Go Launcher HD (The tablet version of Go Launcher EX for Android 3.x and 4.x), you can try it, so nice and eye candy! a ICS-like launcher for Gingerbread

No! it doesn't recognize the device even when I'm logged into google account (the wifi icon is green)
Google Play (the new Android market) works fine on my Enjoy 7 with 0224 rom and gingerbreak. I have installed anything I wanted and even via web - select load on my device over the web
ezPDF Reader
One of the best PDF readers for android, it runs smoothly on my device, I use it instead of original adobe reader:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=udk.android.reader
Shadowgun runs with Chainfire 3D
Finally I run Shadowgun v1.1.0 with Chainfire 3D, use these settings:
Enable Reduce texture size
Enable Hide CF3D ID
Install and Enable PowerVR plugin
It runs smoothly and without any problem on Enjoy 10

temple run
Hi,
I installed Temple Run during it's first release to Android on my daughter's rooted windpad 7 and it was working fine for a day. weird thing is, the next day, she was complaining that it wasn't running anymore. tried reinstalling and all, even the supposed ARMv6 version and still no go. i click on icon, screen goes dark and then just goes back to homescreen without any FC notifications.
i rooted her windpad using gingerbreak and currently on 0224 FW. didn't do any more tweaking after that except installing titanium backup and bloatwares.
any ideas on this?

Step 1. Download and install PhoenixSuit
Step 2. Download firmware image from above link for your tablet and load it in PhoenixSuit. If you receive error in PhoenixSuit, you can try moving the firmware file to desktop. That worked for me.
Step 3. Enable USB debug in tablet's developer settings and connect to computer. PhoenixSuit will inform you of this and then it's just follow the instructions on screen.
Alternative Step 3. If this normal procedure does not work and/or your tablet is a little soft bricked. You can try the following:
-Unplug USB-cable from computer.
-Power off your tablet. (Holding the power button for approx 10 seconds if the tablet is locked/black screen after boot)
-Press and hold the Home-button on the tablet, and plug in the USB cable.
-Continue to keep the home-button pressed and click on the Power button very shortly (about 0,5 seconds) about 10 times.
You should see a new dialog box appear in PhoenixSuit asking you to perform a "Mandatory format"
- Select "yes" to enter the format upgrade mode.

Sure wish we get more of an interest here. With all the knowledgeable people in this community this tablet would surely show its potential.
wow so I am ready to make one order for this tablet hopefully by 6 days i can do a mini review,
anyone bought this already?
It looks very similar to Apple's Ipad.
Could I use an Ipad casing with this tablet?
All the casings I can find on eBay for this 'Spark' are very ugly.

It depends on the casing. If it's one of those that's "clipped on" the back, it won't fit. This does not have the same rounded off edges as the ipad.
Other types should work just fine.
I have this Universal 9.7 Inch Leather Smart Case
yes i'm talking about those with the magnetic clips that covers the front of the Ipad.. I hoped I could use them

Okay, those who are only attached on the side by magnet? Not sure about that one. Considering all the available space and ease of removing the back cover, I think it would be possible to make the side magnetic, if it isn't already. Then adopting the cover, if needed. Hopefully something similar will come to other tablet's with different edge than that of the ipad.
The plastic ones that goes one-in-one with the back was the one I was aiming at that won't fit. Like this
Thank You, but i'm looking for more elegant case.
"Cheese" are making a nice case for the "Ainol Hero".. Maybe I will buy the "Hero 2" instead of the "Spark" (just ordered it yesterday but I assume I can still regret)
Mine just arrived today. So far so good, the screen is awesome. The bad thing is of course the soc, but still usable

Well I tried to cancel my order of this 'Spark' but the seller already shipped it.
I'm looking for about 8 hours of battery life with browsering and reading PDF's, so I think the best choice for me now, after reading a lot of reviews, would be the first 'Hero' (dual core model)m but i'm stuck with this 'Spark'.

I don't mind about the price, but in the reviews it gets a bad ranking in battery time because of its high res screen (takes more power)
I would be happy to hear about your experience with the battery.

build-prop tweaks anyone?
Has anyone tried any build.prop tweaks?
I've changed manufacturer and model description to immitate Motorola Xyboard/Xoom 2 as it also uses SGX chipset. This went fine, it worked for some things, but still error 5002 on the Sims FreePlay. Most likely due to no support for the Spark's DPI. I tried setting it to 160 DPI (or perhaps it was 140, not 100 % sure). This caused a soft brick, but I was able to get it working again with the mandatory upgrade with phoenixsuit.
Has anyone had any luck changing dpi?
Edit:
I also changed the XML files as described HERE. It gave me acces to more apps in Google Play than emulating the Xyboard/Xoom 2. Still no luck on the Sims though.

Summary:
Sometimes white pixels are rendered as black on 10 bit depth video on MX Player.
8 bit depth video works fine on MX Player.

Please check the attached video using MX Player and other players (e.g. VLC on Linux)
I created the video from Japanese TV animation using following command. (Note: most of arguments are not necessary to reproduce)
$ ffmpeg -i japanese_anime.ts -ss 3.5 -t 1 -filter:v crop=32:16:560:190 -vcodec libx264 -an -crf 18 sample.mp4
libx264 is built with --bit-depth=10 configuration.
I tested libx265 with 10 bit depth configuration, and the output file also has a same problem.
I created this bug report with Nexus 7 (2013). I tested Nexus 5 and Galaxy S4 and they are also reproducible.
Encoder environment is here.
- Ubuntu 14.04 LTS
- libx264 snapshot of 2014-11-29
- libx265 1.4+433 2015-01-26
- ffmpeg 2.5.2
What steps will reproduce the problem?
1. Download the attached sample video file.
2. Play it on MX Player on Android with S/W decoder.
Hmm, in rgb mode it decodes fine (so the problem is not in the decoder), in yuv - has this problem. So this is probably related to 10-bit -> 8-bit yuv conversion.
I suspect that that white is actually whiter than white (means out of TV/limited range) and some kind of overflow happens.
UPD: yeah, look at histogram, it's out of range:

P.s. is this FUNimation (and has ugly Media Factory logo at the beginning)? Because those videos are broken (PC range) and should be fixed when reencoding.
Thank you for the quick response!
I tested with RGB 16/32bit and YUV color format on decoder settings, and RGB 32bit works fine for me!
(RGB 16bit and YUV doesn't, unfortunatley)
I hope the default settings handles this issue correctly in the future

No. The source video file is not from BD/DVD but from Japanese airwave.
This issue frequently happen on texts in opening / ending movie.
I suspect that such texts are embedded by animation company or broadcaster, and it causes this out-of-range issue.
AFAIK, animation itself doesn't have this issue (except for the attached sample video).

Well, while rgb mode doesn't have this problem - it has some downsides:
1) it's much slower (on my pc ffmpeg's yuv->rgb conversion gives me 3x slowdown, though in MX it might be faster due to lower quality)
2) it uses nearest neighbor for upsampling chroma (basically colors are "pixelated", look at the edge of this red thing):
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16254258/android/mx/matrix/noir/sw_32.png
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16254258/android/mx/matrix/noir/sw_yuv.png
But on 1080p screen it might be not that noticeable.

Credits... Yeah, broadcasters could easily screw this up.
It might be fixable (clamping range) but I have no idea how to do it using ffmpeg
About FUNimation - they do such things for the entire video: funi, corrected/as broadcast.
---------- Post added at 20:09 ---------- Previous post was at 19:46 ----------
Actually this issue is even mentioned in FAQ, but they never found the real reason, only workaround (that I'm not fond of).
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/resolved-color-distortion-10-bit-x264-t2725658
http://forum.xda-developers.com/apps/mx-player/bug-weird-10-bit-decoding-issue-sw-t2892333
I've took that funimation video that is out of range and encoded it with 8 and 10 bit versions of x264. With SW decoder in YUV mode only 10-bit video shows this issue, so now I'm even more sure that it's related to overflow in 10->8 downconversion.
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16254258/android/mx/range/t08.mp4 (plays fine)
https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/16254258/android/mx/range/t10.mp4 (has dots)
Thanks again for your kindly response! and sorry for my duplicated bug report...
I figured out the way to clamp the luminance value on reencoding by ffmpeg, and it solves this issue.
Please let me note it here for other users
Code:
$ ffmpeg -i input.ts -filter:v lutyuv="y=clipval" out.mp4
BTW, AFAIK, luminance value can be greater than 235 on airwave (and it is NOT invalid).
I believe we are happy if MX Player automatically clamp the luminance value since we already have lots of such movies.

Well, "invalid" may be wrong word... Basically after rgb conversion it produces values outside of 0..255 range. Actually some displays could take advantage of this (kinda like HDR).
I've been researching 10 (it's actually decoded as 16 bit, aka unsigned short) bit input for my project today. From MSDN:
These formats use a fixed-point representation for both the luma channel and the chroma (C'b and C'r) channels. Sample values are scaled 8-bit values, using a scaling factor of 2^(n − 8), where n is either 10 or 16, as per sections 7.7-7.8 and 7.11-7.12 of SMPTE 274M. Precision conversions can be performed using simple bit shifts. For example, if the white point of an 8-bit format is 235, the corresponding 10-bit format has a white point at 940 (235 × 4).
Click to collapse
So 16-bit -> 8-bit conversion (with rounding instead of shift) could be performed as
Code:
(unsigned char) (round (input / 256.0))
or
Code:
(unsigned char) ((input + 128) >> 8)
This code overflows if input is >= 255.5 * 256 = 65408 or 255.5 * 4 = 1022 (for 10-bit). To fix it in need to be clamped:
Code:
(unsigned char) std::min ((input + 128) >> 8, 255)
Okay, now let's check if this is what happens.
1) screenshot from my video (t10)
2) pixels that have values >=1022
Seems that I was right
Avisynth script used
Code:
s = ffvideosource ("t10.mp4", enable10bithack=true)
h = s.Crop (0,0,0,720).Binarize (254, true)
l = s.Crop (0,720,0,0).Binarize (127, true)
Overlay (l, h, mode="add").ConvertToY8 ().ConvertToRGB ()
(needs masktools and hacked ffvideosource)
Hope this will help @bleu8888 to locate the issue...
