Finally after rooting MSI Windpad Enjoy 7 & 10, It's time to check which apps and games are running smoothly on our devices, which one's useful and which one's full-compatible, please share your experience, here is mine:
ROM: Android Gingerbread 2.3.1 - Official MSI 0224 [ROOTED]
System Apps:
System Panel: A good task manager with extra features, I found it better than Advanced Task Killer
ROM Toolbox: After root, it's a must!
Notification Toggle
MyPhoneExplorer
Total Commander
Hardware Info
MultiLing Keyboard: It's light and supports many languages
Go Keyboard: Has options and a special add-on for tablet
SwiftKey Tablet X: Specialized for tablets, heavy but really nice (HD Themes)
Chainfire 3D: Provides an intermediate setting for your GPU, helps running some heavy games cannot be run normally
Launchers:
LauncherPro: Runs smoothly but as it's not specialized for Tablets, the icons are smaller than usual in both drawer and home screen
ADW Launcher: It's good, but not as smooth as LauncherPro. Icons are big, drawer has better graphic effects.
Go Launcher: The last ver I tried on my tablet was not smooth as the two above.
SPB Shell 3D: Doesn't run as smoothly as first two launchers but has some benefits like 3D effects, large icons, more widgets and high-quality wallpaper support for home screen(I couldn't find this, in any other launcher)
Nemus Launcher: is the best launcher I found for Enjoy devices, Low memory usage, fast & smooth, Tablet compatible, High quality icons and widgets, Theme support, fully compatible with screen sizes, Eye candy effects and options,...
GO Launcher HD: It's a special version of Go Launcher HD (The tablet version of Go Launcher EX for Android 3.x and 4.x), you can try it, so nice and eye candy! a ICS-like launcher for Gingerbread
Widgets:
Beautiful Widget: HD Digital Clock like HTC's
Extended Control: Works well without any bug
Widgetsoid 2x: Something like extended control but free
Pure Messenger: Email widget, works well
Ice Cream Sandwich Clock: ICS transparent analog clock
Internet:
Opera Mobile: The best I use everyday
Firefox: I couldn't run it well on my tablet; every time hangs or slows down on first screen.
Dolphin HD: Not bad, not as smooth as Opera Mobile
Orweb & Orbot: If you wanna use proxy, it's the best choice
IM+: Best multi-account messenger
PdaNet Tablet 1.21: Best thing to share your android phone's internet with MSI
Pocket Cloud: Remote Desktop for windows, works well
TeamViewer: Remoter desktop for both Win and Linux, works better
FasterDownloads: A download manager like IDM or DAP, works great!
Audio, Video, Photo, Office:
MX Video Player: I have tried many of them, this one is better, with more codecs
Winamp: Works well, homescreen widget supported
Fish Bowl Photo Gallery: The best gallary, smooth and beautiful; The unique ability is to set High-Quality Wallpaper for your homescreen
ezPDF Reader: High quality & fast; you can also put some notes or texts on your E-Books
Taptu: News app; HD & Full screen, you can choose between many feeders and make a playlist!

Fruit Ninja: Full screen
DeathWorm: Full screen
Hungry Shark: Full screen
Samurai II: Full screen 3D
Contract Killer: Full screen 3D
FL Commando: Full screen 3D
Duke Nukem 3D: Full screen 3D
PES 2012: Smooth and Full screen 3D
Real Football 2011: You should enable compability mode, then it runs smoothly but not Full screen
Shadowgun: Smooth and Full screen 3D (via Chainfire 3D)
Overkill: One of the best of the first person shooters, Full screen 3D
Resident Evil 4: Full screen 3D
Guerrilla Bob: Full screen 3D, runs smoothly

No idea?!?

Real Football 2011
gameloft's RF2011 is working well on enjoy 10 with compability mode enabled.

No! it doesn't recognize the device even when I'm logged into google account (the wifi icon is green)

Google Play (the new Android market) works fine on my Enjoy 7 with 0224 rom and gingerbreak. I have installed anything I wanted and even via web - select load on my device over the web

ezPDF Reader
One of the best PDF readers for android, it runs smoothly on my device, I use it instead of original adobe reader:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=udk.android.reader

Shadowgun runs with Chainfire 3D
Finally I run Shadowgun v1.1.0 with Chainfire 3D, use these settings:
Enable Reduce texture size
Enable Hide CF3D ID
Install and Enable PowerVR plugin
It runs smoothly and without any problem on Enjoy 10

Text to Speech
do you know of a good, free, text to speech that sounds natural which will work on this tablet?

Resident Evil 4
Resident Evil 4 (Biohazard 4) is working on my MSI Enjoy 10; it's full screen and smooth.

Modern combat 2
Tested OK! Full screen!

temple run
Hi,
I installed Temple Run during it's first release to Android on my daughter's rooted windpad 7 and it was working fine for a day. weird thing is, the next day, she was complaining that it wasn't running anymore. tried reinstalling and all, even the supposed ARMv6 version and still no go. i click on icon, screen goes dark and then just goes back to homescreen without any FC notifications.
i rooted her windpad using gingerbreak and currently on 0224 FW. didn't do any more tweaking after that except installing titanium backup and bloatwares.
any ideas on this?

No prob! I've been using it for a bit and am still amazed at the quality and overall simplicity of the app.
Shoot me, just found out about this one and its amazing.
TicTacToe... In the market. This app is not your childhood game but instead a brilliantly hidden browser to be used for viewing certain things. FTW
FakeFirefox - Simply a shortcut to the stock browser with a FF icon
MortPlayer Music + Widget - Great little music player that sorts songs by folder rather than artist/album etc. A little tip is to put the album cover in each folder under Folder.jpg
Quickboot - Lets you create shortcuts to bootloader, reboot and recovery for one click access.
Bloo - Facebook replacement which has an awesome notification system that flashes blue with the newer CM releases
Tallybee
The program is very simple, but the idea is very neat.
Connectoo. Fun game!
bTunes Music Player (includes widget) - ever wanted to show off to your iPhone friends? Make them surprised when you show them that you, an Android user, can have the same UI/functionality of the iPhone's music player with just one download of an app.

Midomi SoundHound - What's that song? Hear it and identify it FAST with SoundHound - just hold your phone up to a speaker, and SoundHound names the tune in as little as five seconds! It even works if you sing or hum the melody.
TorrentFu - Great if you do alot of torrenting like i do. Not only can you monitor your torrents on your home PC, you can scan barcodes, or search for items, and have the torrent sent and downloaded on your home PC (Barcode scanner integrated).
Handcent (NEW) - By far, the best SMS/MMS app on the market. blows the stock MMS to shreds.
OurGroceries - Not just your everyday Grocery/List manager. SYNC in real-time with your spouses (or whomever) phone, cross sync with iPhone users. Allows you to enter (or delete) items to/from your list, and in real time, your spouse (or whoever) will see the changes.
My Tracks - GREAT for hikers/bikers. Track, map, and get stats for your hiking/biking trips.
Surveyor - GREAT measuring tool. This is one that few will have a need for, but those that need, don't know this exists, and is GREAT.
TuneWiki - My personal favorite for playing local (SD) music, as well as shoutcast.
and you cant leave out Pandora. Just a great personalized radio. Once you get some artists setup into your station, it really does tune to what you like. Another one of those you gotta really try it before you pass judgment.
SubSonic is a GREAT program to easily stream your music from your PC to your phone. It even has an offline option to play music you downloaded later without a data connection. The server on your PC is incredibly light and doesn't drag on system resources like all other server programs I've ever used before. Now I can easily browse through and enjoy my 450GB music collection from nearly anywhere on the go!
Excellent idea for this thread btw.
My app suggestion is Twicca, an incredibly full function yet light and appealing GUI for twitter.

How does that compare to Shazam? Sounds like it does basically the same job so I wondered if you'd tried both?
For UK users I quite like ASBOrometer. It gives your current location a rating based on the level of anti-social behaviour! Based on official government stats.
Google Sky Map is awesome on the Nexus as well. Gives you a full mapping of the stars with their names and constellations using gps, compass and accelerometer so you can point it at the stars above you and see what they are. Really cool
Personally ChompSMS is my favorite SMS app, but my recommendation is definitely Screebl Pro, detects when your phone isn't at a level that is classified as laying down on a bench or something, and keeps your phone's screen on until the phones sensor detects it's been placed down or something. Fully customization, and saves battery life, because you can set your screen timeout to the lowest with this app enabled.
Slacker Radio.
Some essentials in my sig but also I recommend:
AdFree (€0) - I don't need to see another religious ad
aiSystemWidget (€€) - Great stats widget and even better app including history
AppBrain (€0) - Just started using it but I love the recommendations
Apps Organizer (€0) - Awesome for sorting apps into folders
AutoKiller (€0) - Set and forget memory management
Better Cut (€€) - Give yourself the desktop you want
Dolphin Browser (€0) - Still the fastest and most functional browser IMHO
ES File Explorer (€0) - Should be mandatory for root users, best file manager there is
Mini Info (€0) - Another great stats widget
NewsRoom (€€) - Best RSS reader out there
MyBackupPro (€€) - Now supports apk backups and system data backups
QuickBoot (€0) - Reboot, Recovery or Bootloader all with one click
Settings Profiles (€€) - Fun, functional but still deciding on whether it's essential
ShootMe (€0) - Screen caps
Wallpaper Set & Save (€0) - Great for hi resolution wall papers
Pure Music Widget (€€) - Pure
Beautiful Widgets (€€) - Beautiful
And there are others but this is the 'pack' that I install immediately after any flash.
And perhaps not necessary for this thread but here you go anyway:

it says it doesn't supports the Xperia Play, but it still works.

I'd find it much better in a tablet. On a phone screen it just seems kinda awkward to use, particularly for people with oversized digits. Still, it's a worthy alternative if you want to spend cash in a launcher: it's a much different concept than most of the competition, much closer to Windows Mobile.

yeah i bought it for my archos 101, and tried it on my XP. It works great if you tilt your play in landscape But as you said, you can't have big fingers
It would be really nice on a Dell Streak. I tried this as well it's pretty smooth and it comes with a file browser.

Uhm because they both have game controllers?
Windows 7 is optimized for mouse and keyboard. Does our Xperia Play have those? Guess not.
This theme is stupid on a touch only device, better yet a smartphone.
Interesting concept, the free version just keep force closing for me

Must Have Apps and Games

Looked but couldn't find. What are the must have apps and games for you guys? Post in a similar fashion so we can all know what you're talking about. I'll go first.
APPS:
ES File Explorer - File explorer. It's decent, haven't had problems with it.
GTunes - Download music straight to your phone. Used to be on the marketplace, can't find it now. Google is your friend.
MixFM Cyprus - Streaming MixFM Cyprus. They have a few famous reseident DJs and their program sh*ts on any US station that I can find. Give it a try if you want, my friends are hooked.
Pandora - needs no explanation.
SoundHound - It's like Shazam but I like the interface more. Recognizes music tracks through the mic.
GAMES:
9MM HD - It's an action game with insane graphics and decent story. Reminds me of GTA, it's pricey but worth it if you're into this kind of stuff.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=azIYhb4XkpQ
GTA3 - They actually managed to get the full game working on Android, and it works like a charm on the Sensation. If I could have one game only, this would be it, no doubt.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PtbUORusNvo
Modern Combat 3 - First person shooter, think Battlefield/COD. Really good graphics, decent story and controls. You won't believe it's running on a phone when you see the opening scene.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mdF0EvDwH-Y
Real Racing 2 - If you are a fan of Forza or Gran Turismo, get this asap.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kl_9Y3e0m0
APPs:
-sorry bro, but have you ever tried "DI Radio"? that sh*ts on any streaming music APP. Wide variety of music, for free, you can listen all day.
-"n7player", cool music app...i used to use powerAMP but now i switched to this. it has a sweet looking widget that suits my layout just well. for who cares about bass boost, it's there, just like powerAMP.
-"Swiftkey X", made my typing experience hella easier.
-I like "BIG! caller ID", better than the standard caller ID screen.
-"NotifierPro Plus" gives a sweet windowsphone 7 like notifications for most of emails, messaging, social network apps, it slides down from the status bar, gentle and informative.
-"Color Note" is a must for me, has the nicest note widget i've tried.
-"Brilliant Quotes", nothing better for inspiration and knowledge. can be set as a widget, i personally use it on my lockscreen using widget lockscreen.
-"Boot Manager" to boot ROMs from my SD card, good way to try out new ROMs without the hassle of backing everything up, and probably want to go back to my previous ROM. works on the sensation
-"greader pro" everything i need to know, right there.
-i use "WeatherFlow" for my weather updates and information, looks nice and different.
-Best alternative launcher, "Apex launcher".
GAMES:
-"Canabalt HD", it has the rush that makes me keep on playing, super best with good quality headphones on.
-"cut the rope experiments", i just never get bored of this game.
-"iStunt2", it's so much fun, try it.
-"Riptide GP", i wish we could get the effects the version for the ONE X has, but still pretty good.
-waiting for "DarkMeadow"
Try Audio Manager instead of Pandora.
..
APPS:
2xclient for pc terminal connection (remote desktop) - it's very good and free!
antutu benchmark - for testing roms, sd card speed
battery monitor widget - great tool for battery monitoring, it's worth its price
es file explorer - best free file explorer (ftp, dropbox, lan supoort)
ezpdfreader - the best pdf reader!
gentle alarm - very good, gentle alarm
imdb
ivona TTS - natural voice, it's beta and free for now
my tracks
premote droid - remote control for your pc via bluetooth or wifi (need daemon on pc)
system tuner pro - complete tool for rooted device. it can do almost everyting! worth every penny
tapatalk - great forum app
GAMEZ:
steam birds - good gfx and music
spirit HD - innovative action game with beautiful graphics
osmos
Have you tried the game Cytus? It's a rhythm game and I think it's pretty fun. Nothing like the usual kind.

Root explorer
System tuner
Root uninstaller pro - system app uninstaller.
Sdmaid - bit like system tuner but does sdcard as well.
And phone overheat- alarms when battery is reaching critical levels.

[APP][1.6+] TinyLaunch: New lease on life for old and slow devices

I was finding my Archos 43 Gen8 device with its puny 256mb RAM unusable with regular launchers so I decided to roll my own from scratch: TinyLaunch.
The main development rules were:
- use very little RAM
- run on lots of devices (all the way back to Android 1.5 -- the subject line is wrong when it says 1.6)
- get out of the way and avoid doing anything in the background while other apps are running
- run fast once it's configured (but currently the configuration app scan is slow)
- nothing extraneous--no pretty extra icons, no help information, and of course no ads of any sort (not even a link to my other apps--all that is wasted memory)
I plan for the apk never to exceed 40K. Currently it's 29K.
This is *extremely* low-featured. At base, it just presents a simple scrolling list of apps (with categorization features) with no icons (though you can turn on icons, at the expense of some speed: Menu, Settings). You tap on an app and there you are.
In particular:
- no widgets
- no shortcuts
These limitations may make this useless to you. But if you just want a list of apps for launching, e.g., on a device for your kids to play with, TinyLaunch may be the thing for you.
The first time you run TinyLaunch needs to scan for apps. This is a very slow process on my Archos 43 (at least for apps moved to SD), though faster on modern devices.
By default TinyLaunch just shows a simple list of apps. Choosing Menu, Settings lets you include icons (slower) and a more standard tiled view (slower).
Instead of folders, I implemented a category system inspired by PalmOS, though with some variations (the main one is that apps can be in more than one category).
By default there are three special categories: All, Unclassified and Hidden. You can make some custom categories like "Games" and "Math and Science" by pressing MENU and New Category. To categorize apps, the easiest way is to switch the category to Unclassified (tap on the category selector at the top of the screen), and then long tap on an app to choose how to classify it. The app then disappears from the Unclassified category. Note that the Hidden category is a special category that hides apps from the All and Unclassified views (though a Hidden app can still show up in other categories if you like).

Can we have a screenshot?
I just uploaded a new version. This includes a more standard and less ugly tile view (but slower). And I included the screenshots in the post above.
Maybe you should put some steps for minimum memory use - medium memory use - normal ? Therefore this launcher might be used by other users who has a bit more ram? Btw, your idea is so nice and really suitable with google kitkat's idea "less ram, more work, high speed"
Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I wanted to try it out but it says that it can't parse the package unfortunately. I'm using Android 4.3.

Sent from my GT-I8190 using XDA Premium 4 mobile app
I just uploaded 0.07. Minor tweaks to the display. Option to lock orientation. And now the scanning happens when you need it to, I think.
Now officially released on Google Play: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobi.omegacentauri.TinyLaunch
Any chance of a light theme? Am trying your launcher out on a rooted Nook Simple Touch which has an e-ink display. Other than being a bit dark seems to be running well, thanks. Will also try it on my Gen 8 Archos 70.

You probably would also want paging rather than scrolling for eink, right?

Thanks for the reply. Screen refresh is set high so not noticed a problem with scrolling.
Great idea! Runs great on my old wildfire!

Thanks for the idea! I implemented it in 0.10. (At no size cost, since I also optimized some code at the same time.) Should be up on Google Play now. Menu, Settings, Light theme.

Thanks for implementing a light theme, unfortunately I just get a black screen with no text when I choose the light theme on my Nook Simple Touch with Android 2.1. Also doesn't work properly on my Archos A70 using 2.2 but works as expected on my Nexus 10 running 4.3. Do you think it could be an issue with Android 2.1 and 2.2?
EDIT
Light theme also not working properly on ZTE Skate running 2.3.

I foolishly only tested on Genymotion running 4.3, not an actual device. Yeah, it doesn't work on 2.2. I fixed that, and uploaded 0.11 to Google Play. Should be up soon.

Working now, thanks.
Would anyone find this useful on a tablet and hence would like more than four columns of icons? (Currently the number of columns is hard-coded. It would probably add about 2K to the apk to make it more flexible.)
I added a feature that works sort of like a home screen. If you have a category named "Home" (capital H, everything else lowercase), then pressing the Home button toggles you between the Home category and the All category. So you can just put your most frequently used apps in the Home category. If you want a plain PalmOS-style launcher, just don't make a category with that name.
I added a very primitive toddler lock to TinyLaunch. If you turn it on, then the HIDDEN category disappears completely, and the access to all the menu functions disappears until you type "Not toddler". I use it on my Nexus 7 in conjunction with a restricted profile to make the Amazon Appstore (which I need to have available for the sake of the toddler apps that are tied to it) inaccessible to the toddler--I just set the Appstore to be hidden in TinyLaunch
i just got a new toy - Archos 70b Cobalt and wanted to thank you!
i change the homescreens on all my devices to some minimal ones like "search based launcher" and "organised drawer". while trawling the archos forums, i happened across your TinyLaunch. i like it so much that it has become the default launcher on not just my archos, but also my samsung galaxy ace mobile and nook simple touch ereader (with light theme).
i like what you have done with the Home category, and apps in multiple categories. i don't use/need any other features.

your white theme has white menu, which is nice. but the default black theme menu is white which seems to conflict.. might look better with black menu.

rather than hardcoding, perhaps let the user enter a number? should be simpler and more flexible for different devices. my tablet particularly in landscape mode could use far more columns.
btw, can you tell me how to get those nice soft-buttons, on your screenshots, at the bottom? my archos has just the standard three jelly-bean buttons in a wide band. i could do with a thinner band, and few more buttons on it. or more preferably have the buttons on my notification bar, like on my nook.

The Best Android Emulator: BlueStacks vs Andy vs MEmu

I am a big fan of Android game, but have always being in a situation where I want to play a game, I couldn’t use my phone or my battery is going to die. Sometimes I even couldn't enjoy some fancy games because of small screen but thick fingers...
Well, it is actually possible to solve all the headaches with Android Emulator. When you install an emulator on PC, you get a virtual console in which you can use any Android apps and games. So I am going to share my experience of three popular Android emulators: BlueStacks, Andy and MEmu.
• Performance
Benchmark: AnTuTu v5.6
CPU: Intel i5 3.3GHz
Memory: 8GB
Graphics: GeForce GTX 950

To my surprise, MEmu obtain the highest score 96375 and way ahead of the others. Andy's score is 73376 and BlueStacks's is 67807. As a reference, the flagship Samsung S6 scores 69019. MEmu seems pulls off this impressive performance by running Android apps natively on x86 processor whenever possible. On the other hand, when launching these three emulators, BlueStacks starts up a little faster than the others. I guess it's probably because BlueStacks is a lightweight solution which doesn't virtualize the full Android system.
• Use and Setup
BlueStacks is extremely easy to install and setup. In fact, there is very few things could be configured. BlueStacks has its own user interface apart from the standard Android interface. Frankly speaking, I am not a fan of this UI although it's particularly focused on games. The worse thing is BlueStacks costs $2 a month to keep playing.
Andy is not as simple as BlueStacks. I did have a problem actually installing it but somehow I fixed it. Once you launch Andy, you will get a standard Android interface and need to connect your Google account to Andy at the first time. Andy offers a handy feature that you can launch Android apps from shortcuts in your Windows desktop.
For MEmu, downloading and installing is amazingly easy. With the default setting, I can directly run any app exactly like it on the Android phone or tablet. I was also surprised that I can change the brand, model and even IMEI, and etc. Sometimes it's very useful, I bet you know that.
• Gaming and Productivity
As you can see, BlueStacks concentrates more on games rather than regular apps, as its home page filled with suggested games by category reveals. Hence, it's no surprise that the suggested games run fairly well. Unfortunately, I found the program to be buggy and slow in some regular apps.
Unlike BlueStacks, Andy focuses on an overall experience for both games and regular apps. It actually plays the game better than BlueStacks in terms of stability, but sometimes a little bit slower. The good thing is that Andy supports third party launcher and even allows the use of widgets.
MEmu also provides a more rounded experience than BlueStacks. It puts all suggested apps and games in MEmu market, but seems most of them are popular in China. So I downloaded a few apps and games from Google Play and they all went very smoothly. One of the things I really like personally is the ability of comprehensive keyboard mapping, since it makes me play shooting game much better than in my Android phone.
• Multiplayer Mode
The multiplayer mode is an innovative feature which makes it possible to run several emulators spontaneously. Instead of pushing other apps/games to the background, you can switch between them on the same computer screen. This is like having several phones for real-time multi-tasking.
BlueStacks and Andy don't support this mode natively, but it's said that you could create multiple instances of BlueStacks or Andy with the help of sandbox.
MEmu has a thoughtful design for this feature. The activation process is very simple and I was able to create several MEmu players in a few clicks. It’s also easy to customize the CPU occupation and RAM of each emulator was introduced. Moreover, it takes up much less resource, compared to sandbox solution. So MEmu wins it clearly.
• Interesting Features
BlueStacks offers a feature of syncing apps between your phone and the Windows app via a cloud connect app. Andy lets you use your Android phone as a remote control, mirroring the screen on Andy on your phone. MEmu could be launched from a USB thumb without any software installation. With this portable version, you can easily plug and play and bring MEmu everywhere in your pocket.
• Overall
There are many other Android emulators and your choice really depends on your needs. If you need something super simple that plays some light games occasionally, then BlueStacks may be a good choice. For most of Android fans, Andy and MEmu are definitely worth a try. They are both free and powerful. As to me, I will go with MEmu because of good performance and multiplayer mode.
Well, I will be happy to know your choice or suggestion.

Memu is my choice of emulators from all the three I tried.
Buddy, seems we share the same feeling
BlueStacks is my previous choice. By your sharing, I've just tried MEmu and it's really cool! It would be better if MEmu could improve multiple language support.
A simpler for the average user Andy.:fingers-crossed:
I don't like BlueStacks, because for some time I was unable to remove it from my system, it always offered to update.

I have uninstalled it and it left this behavior.
I ran into this problem with BlueStacks a few times too... then with the help of some 3rd party software, I remove it clearly finally.
I've tried many Android emulators before... bluestacks, andy, nox, genymotion, memu and some others I can't recall their names. Anyway, I agree with you by and large that MEmu is the best one ever.
I've just tried MEmu for a few weeks and it went very well.
But I didn't figure out how to perform sliding screen through keyboard mapping... otherwise, I can not play templerun on the android emulator
Any suggestion? Or MEmu doesn't support it?

As to slide screen operation in MEmu, hold the left mouse button down and drag the mouse pointer toward the direction of slide screen, then type a key to map this operation. You may have a try
MEmu,the best choice!
Let me share our store of the comparisons on performance, the following chart says all: [LeapDroid beats every other emulators]
