De-odexed stock sense? - Droid Incredible Themes and Apps

Hi all -- I looked but couldn't find this question asked before. Apologies (and permission to delete/move my thread) if it's a dupe.
I'm an "eager to learn" noob, especially interested in theming the DInc. It's become apparent that to get anything good going I need either to get my hands on a de-odexed stock ROM (stock sense 2.1) or learn how to de-odex.
Does the former exist someplace?
If not, what tools would those with expertise recommend to go about de-odexing?
Thanks in advance!

This is all I do with every rom before I flash it. All you have done is delete some apps. What have you modded?

no need to be harsh on the guy. Just because someone has the savvy to flash a rom doesnt mean they have the knowledge or confidence to remove apps. Hes sharing his version of the auraxtsense rom for those type of people and they may appreciate it.

Well Catus i`m people like them.I grew into this forum slowly...took the easiest way.Last few days i`ve felt bold enough to put S-OFF on my Desire and used ADB to change my splash screen.
The reason i did that was because of all the helpful posts in this forum.
I am totally impressed by the willingness of the experts on this forum to lend a hand to the newbies. You Sir do not impress me at all.

You berate yourself incorrectly because it looks to me you're not people like that. You've investigated and searched and researched. Zip-Roms like this compound the issue of people not bothering to do any of that.
I'm more than happy to help people. When they help themselves first. I'm sick and tired of people who can't use the search function, and asking what OJ means, or whether you can stick the Sense camera on an AOSP Rom. Not reading posts properly and thinking S-OFF is some magical system that does anything exept full R/W access. People like THAT is who that comment was directed at.

Ok Cactus i`ve you had expanded your oneliner i would have understood your grouse better.I`ve never asked for help in this forum..i`ve read and learned.
why do people argue over nothing?
if no one uses the rom then the thread will die by itself.
useless comments and 'vote to delete' do nothing.
so RELAX
I don't see peterfeter has any bad intention, he gave full credit to Neophyte.x360 and he merely shares the things he did.
While he's not a real developer who knows a lot of things, I've checked the forum rule and apparently he did nothing wrong to violate any of the rule. So I don't understand why he deserves such bashing.
If you don't like it, then ignore it, simple as that
Thx. Good job. Dont mind bored guys

Why are people bashing PeterFerter? He only has good intention to share...
He is not asking for Donation, for thanx, or for recognition
Everyone has to start from somewhere.
This qualifies as a mod, anything that's different to the original is isn't it?
Will you prepare this mod for newer version of ATS ?

bashing this guy sucks
i agree with others on this thread. dont bash this guy. what actual harm has he done. he's not made any untrue claims and if anything he's inspired untechnical people like myself to have a little delve beneath the surface. I may have a look at this rom myself and do a MOD.
This has inspired me to try some editing myself. But without luck, so if you do a zipmod, you just add or remove files from data/app/ and system/app/ ? Is that all? Been trying but I get an error everytime I try saying that a file is missing. Are there a list of files + directories that i verifys with before installing? Been searching the web for answers but I only found guides on how to make a ROM from the start.

I know its a little bit heavy, but to mod ROMs I always use
[KITCHEN][OCT. 3 '10] HTC Android Kitchen, v0.100 [Linux / Mac / Windows]
The kitchen will unzip the ROM you want to mod, you change/remove/add what you want. You can sign new apk files, zipalign the apps and create a flashable ROM.
EDIT:
And thanks to peterfeter to publish his ROM. Ignore the jealous ignorant people posting bad things in your thread. You have done a good job and it is good that you share it. I plan to release my mods soon as well. It will be a mod of an existing ROM with some special apps and settings for Japan/Softbank users.
Thanks alot BeeGee! I will try it out!

[Q] Android 2.3, HTC Hero CDMA. How to put HTC sense on it

I have a question to ask. I'm going to get an HTC hero on Sprint and i've seen all the hacks. If I were to hack it, how would I get the Sense UI Launcher back? I'm very fond of it, but i'm also fond of Gingerbread. If anybody has the instructions or solution. Tell me. THANK YOU!!!
When you get the phone it will have Sense on it. After you've rooted & flashed GB or whatever you have flashed, just flash a Sense Rom. If you want to unroot, you'll need to look that up as I'm only familiar with EVOs.
If you're getting a new phone, why get a hero? Do they even make those anymore or are you getting a used one?
Aosp rom
Im making the hero my little hacking toy. If I want to use the Sense rom, can i still use the aosp one??? I really dont know how to flash it on the aosp rom. Thank you
I'm not quite sure what you're asking here.
You can use a Sense ROM or an AOSP ROM, but not both at the same time. Before you flash anything, do a nandroid backup in recovery. Then, if you decide you like what you had better, you can just restore from your backup & everything will look exactly like it did. You can flash however many ROMs you want, just be sure you know what you're doing first. I would suggest reading everything you can here on xda. Really, just read and read and read. When you're ready to flash something, just follow the instructions by the letter. And, don't forget to do a backup first.
Oh thank you!! Im gonna look for a 2.3 sense rom and read around. Sorry im a n00b on xda. Lol
As far as I know no HTC phones have been released or leaked running 2.3. So no 2.3 Sense roms yet.

[Q] what do i do next?

Hello and welcome to XDA...
First, I recommend reading the stickies posted in the forum and learning as much as you can about the inner-workings of the community... from there, things get easier.
Points of advice...
- Flashing Roms and Kernels can be as easy or as difficult as you want it to be... meaning, if you search the forum well and learn what you're doing, it becomes as simple as ever...
- Never flash anything without making a nandroid backup first... if you don't know what that means, use the search function for XDA and lookup "nandroid"
Lastly,
Most people are going to recommend you flash yourself Cyanogenmod 7. The latest stable build is RC1 and can be found here and other "usual places".
Once you flash CM7 (a "rom") then you can flash a Kernel if you want... I'd be willing to put my neck out and say that faux has the most reliable and most popular Kernel out right now in conjunction with CM7...
The best thing you can do for yourself is read... take the time to read as much as you can and answer your own questions slowly over time... there is no reason to go flashing away until you fully understand what it is that you are doing.
Hope that gets you started in the right direction... good luck and have fun!

[Q] OC Kernels - OK to use with stock OR custom ROM?

Hey all, a VERY simple and basic question for you. Yes, I've searched, done research, and although I'm pretty sure I know the answer (which is yes), I want to be DAMN sure before I mess too much with stuff.
I have experience rooting and flashing and a general understanding of kernels and overclocking. My question, simple as it is: If I flash an overclock kernel, specifically the first one listed here (1232 mhz):
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226717&highlight=kernel+oc
it's safe to use a kernel with just about any ROM, including stock, right? Nothing terrible will happen if I'm running stock 8.6.6.23, and flash that kernel to it to give it some extra powah, correct?
Sorry for the mundane question, but I could only ascertain the answer from the various threads and could not find a definitive answer.
Thanks in advance!
If you are running Honeycomb, flash blades kernel which works great. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1226717&highlight=kernel+oc (your link was broken.) works great with all stock/roms.
If you are running ICS use Guevor's kernel: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1565519
On stock/ARHD/Revolver rom take the normal download
On Megatron/Cm9/AOSP take the Megatron download.
On AOKP take the AOKP download.
All should run beautifully if you take the right download.

Yes, if you are rooted and have CWM installed, stock or custom ROM, then you could flash that on Honeycomb based ROMs. If you look more toward the end of that thread, though, you will find some of Blades' more recent kernels for Honeycomb that may work better. If you go to ICS based ROM then you will not be able to use any kernels meant for Honeycomb.
Excellent, thank you both for putting my mind at ease. After having gone through about 6 or 7 rooms with varying effects on apps, I said screw ics, it runs too noticeably slow on stock kennel, sooooo I'll just keep it old school but OC'd. Thanks again!

yea mate but its always so hard to find a flashable pure ROM in this forum, pretty weird considering a pure ROM is what many people would look for (look at the Nexus or iPhone forums)
HTC chef always like to sign the ROM themselves with some tweaks corrupting its originality, but really in this time and age unless a ROM completely offers something new (like Paranoid Android or Viper) there is no need for this practice (the old days where those secret speed tweaks where needed are behind us)

i might do one later unless someone else does it faster. the purpose of this forum is to mod, diversify and improve what manufacturers offer not to repost what HTC already offered, that is why you don't find a "pure rom" . you can supercid your phone, flash a 401 ruu or stock reset and apply ota when they come => stock rom. throw a root there and you are done

no mike just did, thanks my friend
but a flashable ROM is always useful to dirty flash it or recover from a bad kernel flash (kernels usually change other files than the boot.img as well)
a flashable dump is always useful, especially since its a modding forum you need an easy go back ticket, not to mention many people don't even or can't S-OFF their devices
no offence ofcourse, just a friendly discussion
