Okay so I've read the guide that's stickied in this forum and I'm still having issues. First of all I bought my phone off eBay and it didn't come with any software, is there anything straight from HTC that i'll need software wise? Also I tried downloaded pimbackup from the guide and tried to run it but all I get is an error saying that it's not a valid win32 application, what's up with this? Quick replys would be appreciated seeing as I would like to get this done tonight. Thanks all
if it says its not a valid win32 app it means that it needs to be copied to your pda
what do you mean by it does not have any software? it's similar to a pc/mac, you need to install softwre to fit your needs ie games etc.
what other issues do u have and which stickie guide did you read??
Sorry for the lame thread guys but I figured it out. Thanks for the help warlock, oh and when i said it didn't come with software I was talking about the activesync software you get when you buy the phone new, it didn't come with that disk. I found an installer online though and it works great. Also I read the noob guide at the top of this section. Thanks again

Since then i havent been able to use the usb connection, I some how wiped out my wm 2003 rom and have been trying to reinstall it but cant seem to get any futher than the error 101 connection, I have sent the phone back to the repairer and he has said that its a sofware problem, at the moment there is no software on it, I only have the bootloader screen which says, Serial, or USB when the usb cable is connected.
Can anyone out there please let me know if there is anyway i can get the room back on this or ist it a brick.
if the boot loader screen says usb when plugged in, then you CAN flash a ROM, check the forum for whichever your device is

ok call me dumb
I have read the information and now im more confused than when i started.
how do i flash this thing. what program do i need to do it. I have found out that it is a Himalaya link http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Himalaya.
thanks
Sam
OK, i don't have a Himalaya or a 2003 device, but,
download the original ROM from whoever sold you the phone, flash that to get back to a working phone. no programme required, just dl and run it, then read everything in
http://forum.xda-developers.com/forumdisplay.php?f=243
don't do anything until you fully understand what you are doing and why
good luck
PS, please don't post multiple requests asking the same questions which are almost certainly already asked and answered in this forum,
you'll only aggravate others who can see that you're new & you've still not read enough if you're asking the question, so you're less likely to get a reply.
remember this isn't a help service from your phone company, this is other people who all started the same way you did
I have been reading tutorials here on how to upgrade to WM6, to my dismay even for noob tutorials they simply assume its totally common knowledge how to flash a rom to a device. How???
Read this post - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613. It's a sticky at the top of this forum entitled "How to flash a new ROM to your wizard...". It has step by step instructions.
That is the post im reading. But it just says download button 1.05 and flash it to your device. I have my wizard in the 3 color screen mode, with usb connected to vista, and the button 1.05 on my hard drive. How do I flash it?
Well, since you are using vista, I'm not sure since I'm using xp. I've seen threads around here that explain how to do it in vista but I've never read any of them since I don't really need that information myself. Do a little searching for them and I'm sure you'll find a thread that explains how to do it. I'll do a little searching also and if I find one I'll post the thread link on here for you.
Maybe the wizard doesnt work on vista, I heard that since last week the wizard is not compatible with vista but not sure what that meant. I have it plugged in and the windows mobile device center is ignoring it.
How do you do it on XP? I mean do you just connect the device? How do you move the rom to the device?
In xp you just run the RUU and it does the work for you. I found a couple of threads that should help you -
1. http://www.mrvanx.org/cms/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=23&Itemid=27
2. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=313001&highlight=vista+flashing
Another good link will be Mr Vanx Upgrade Guides under my sig. I think he even has sections for users of Vista
Ok, here's a freebie.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=285435
In the future, take some time and read all of the stickies, the wiki, and upgrading threads.

Mike,
This is by no means a personal attack on you, but if you don't know how to execute a program, then you probably SHOULDN'T attempt to do any flashing to your device.
I don't want to discourage your efforts to learn more about computers, development or customizing your device, but I would recommend sticking with your current OS until you're able to figure out how to do much of this on your own.
This site is a great resource of knowledge and tools, but it is for more intermediate and advanced users. There IS an assumption here that you SHOULD know basic commands and such, but you don't seem to have a grasp of even the basics.
Again, I would recommend sticking with what you have for now. Reading more of the WIKI, the Wizard threads and you should also search the internet more generally for information on executables, and the like.
Just a bit of advice. We wouldn't want you to brick your phone.
Good luck on your journey!
Hi, I bought an unused Kaiser, but it's a beta testing model. It works fine, aside from a few small annoying hiccups. I tried to flash the rom using the instructions kindly provided on the Wiki. Hard SPL will not work. I get a connection error at the end everytime. I tried running the Factory Shipped ROM form HTC, but an error says that I can't flash using this. Has anyone come across this before? Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I didn't know this error but I think every body has get the unlock device using these files in attached.
I hope this will help you to solve this problem.
(Rename the files ".rar")
Ciao.

It makes sense to dump your beta SPL before you install hard-SPL
pmemdump 0x8c000000 0x40000 spl-beta.bin
(pmemdump is part of itsme's itsutils, do a search first)
I did a search for pmemdump, but nothing came up...

I tried the files, thanks for posting them. Still no joy. It just won't finish the sequence.
be careful...
Don't forget that you could ruin the device. Unless someone who knows what they're talking about says to do something, I would consider using the device as is or maybe asking HTC direct (even though that might be of zero help)

Wise advice.
I think it was POF who posted the info for the Hermes pre-production units. Maybe wait until he reads this thread. I won't say pm him because I expect he gets thousands of personal requests for help.
This link (for info only) shows how HERMES pre-production units were flashed - basically using the SD card method. It might be worth trying SD card flashing (link here for Kaiser) - but the instructions need you to be hardSPL first.
Let us know if it works out ok.
Many thanks for the helpful responses and the sound warnings. I have contacted HTC directly, but they weren't very helpful. They sent me detailed instructions on how to "soft" and "hard" reset the device. I'll take your advice and let the thread run for a while. The unit is functioning well, with only minor annoyances. I'll certainly post the outcome, and again, thanks.

I bought the unit on ebay. The seller said it was a beta, but that it functioned perfectly. When it boots up, the opening screen says "IU BUILD TEST ONLY" over the HTC logo. It also said BETA at the botom right of the home screen, but KarhU helped me to get rid of that with reg edit. The unit does work well, but it's slightly unstable and a few functions, like word completion, don't work at all.
Sorry guys & gals. New to this but cannot get a handle on the right thing to do. Can anybody help? Yes have read the basics but its not basic to me I am afraid.
I have got an HTC TYTNII from Orange. Need to unlock the sim card lock. Then would like to clear out all the Orange rubbish with a rom flash I think its called (havent got all the words right just yet). However as I paid a few quid forthe phone do not really wish to stew it!! If you know what I mean Harry! Cannot find hardspl etc on so on have ativesync fitted and running. All help greatly appreciated.
This webpage has a ton of files that have been extremely helpful to me so far...
http://duttythroy.lives-in.eu/
dont really know how to help
but
if you want to use hardspl is on the sticky thread
activesync can be downloaded from ms depending on the os you are using.
if you want more help tell me what you need and i will guide you
satiros
Lots of reading
I suggest you do lots more reading.
However, as a starter, go to :
http://www.imei-check.co.uk/kaiser-unlock.php
Pay for the unlocking service.
Then, and only then, install HardSPL
Following that, you can install any ROM you like (for Kaiser / TYTN II)
If you install a ROM based on Windows Mobile 6.1, chances are you will have to install a new Radio coding too. You should install the one for UK Vodaphone on :
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Kaiser_Radio
Don't worry, it works on Orange, I have it on mine.
I recommend the Alex ROM even though it is still a Beta version, it is very good.
After you install the ROM and done a hard reset (keep both soft buttons pressed down whilst pressing the reset button with your stylus) install the radio, then do another hard reset.
Bingo, it's like a different phone.
Thanks for the info have carried out the first bit awaiting reply. Where can I download HardSPL please? Having looked at your recommended ROMs Which one?.. wow some cooking I can see I will be Flashing all day!!

if you cannot look & find it right there in one of the sticky threads of this forum ... I'd suggest you do not attempt any flashing to your device !!!
as some of those stickies contained mandatory informations that you need to READ THOROUGHLY !!!
hi everyone,
iv got a htc touch pro,to be precise it is my first ever smartphone and i have tried to flash and add a new rom to my handset.i read all forums and threads on various sites about how to perform a successful flash and rom.installation of the rom were successful, but my phone does not load up to main screen at all!does that mean my touch pro is bricked????however,i can go to the bootloader and try a hard reset, but that doesnt work either.i have found out that my handset was already unlocked using Olinex.
Please can anyone help me out???im really really stressed out.
many thanks.
Ok, best thing to try is to download the official factory rom.
Start the phone and get it to the boot-loader screen.
Plug it in to your PC and wait for the word USB to show up at the bottom of the phone's screen.
Next run the factory rom installation on the PC and go through the steps. It should hopefully flash fine back to the original OS.
thanks alot, that really helped!!!!you havent a clue how stressed out i was when that happened.anyways,i could do with some more help.since i bought this phone,my net has NOT been working.it was officially branded on vodafone but it was unlocked by previous owner.i have ordered official settings from Htc and o2 themselves and still no result.anyone have any solution(s) for this problem?????
like alot of people have said to me,without net on these smartphones, the TP is nothing!so if anyone has a solution, please DO tell me about it
Many thanks.
I would disagree that without internet smartphones are nothing.... but that's not the point. Do you know which ROM you're using?
Are you using a stock rom? if so, from which company.
Alot of people here have their signature to show what rom/radio/phone (type) they have. it makes it easier for those who want to help to provide answers or suggestions faster and you wont have to get nagged asking the same question everytime
Firstly - slow down!
Not quite sure if you have a problem now or not, and if you do, if its the same as you started with.
From what you have written:
You have read some stuff
You have flashed some stuff
it hasnt worked as you expected
you asked for help on here
you may have flashed some more stuff
you may or may not have a problem still.
No offence, but its pretty tricky to offer much in the way of useful assistance when we dont know what state the phone is in.
Dont panic - enter the bootloader. Note what it says (SPL)
Reset, note the rom & radio versions.
See what works & what doesnt.
Read the forum rules - especially about starting new posts and how to name them (seriously urgent help needed isnt very descriptive). Use the search function to see if your problem has been answered (lots of connectivity issues will have been). If you still are having problems, reply to this post, or make a new one if more appropriate, saying clearly what you have (including rom & radio as appropriate) and what you are stuck with.
Oh, welcome to the forums.
