samsung section/ forum would it be so bad

You might think it's not so bad; but if you give it to one, you have to do it for all and you'll get people wanting a section for Acer/Eten, iPhone, Blackberry and so on ad-infinitum.
I'd like nothing better for this forum to branch out to ALL WM based phones, but I suspect it will stay focussed on HTC devices.

well ill continue to hang out here because it is the best thing out there. but as it is I guess the samsung stuff will just end up all over the place.
I guess I still look at things via tags

This forum is already branching out to Multiple OS's on HTC Devices.. So if we started adding other WM Brands we would eventually have to envelop all wireless devices to follow suit..
Definitely better keeping the forum just htc devices.. I mean seriously there is over 1.6 million registered users with JUST HTC.. Imagine if we gave a place for the apple FanBoys to hang out.. The whole neighborhood would go to ****..

i see where your coming from, but bear in mind your in the general section of the 4g, not the android development. You have to expect a bit of white noise every now and then.

Too many people whining. If you want to whine then I suggest you A) Don't post and get a new phone or B) If there's something REASONABLE that you don't like about the phone make a post with constructive criticism and post what RESEARCH you have done for possible fixes in order to IMPROVE the phone so that other devs can possibly find a fix.

Honestly we don't. If you do want to whinge do it in a single thread that way when people want to create RPMs they cans see what people think is wrong. Seriously if you just bought the phone then go trade it in!

I don't feel my post was whining, crying, or moaning in any way. My post was more statement of honest and open opinion towards the maturity levels of some members and the reiteration of the need to focus on this phone's advancement.

I am not on a phone forum to discuss "feelings." I was pointing out that you are doing exactly, or even worse, what you are accusing others of doing. Let me point out to you that this is a Vibrant 4G Forum, the subject of your thread is "people" and not "the Vibrant 4G", or any phone at all, therefore you are posting in the wrong forum, and there is nothing productive at all about your thread. Please before posting a thread read the stickies. This is clearly a "flaming thread" and according to the stickies you can actually be temporarily banned for this.

Which makes much more sense, and is probably what you should have done in the first place sir.
You'll never get away from complaints, they are going to happen. Period. The only way to avoid them is to never, ever, communicate with anyone, for any reason.
Granted, a lot of the complaints here could be done a tad more constructively, instead of just sounding like a *****fest about a phone the user failed to research properly before purchasing...
I have found some quirks with mine, so I came to this section of the forums to look for answers, found what I needed, put it into play, resolved some of my issues, and expect the rest to be fixed as well, eventually.
Kick back, relax, and if you don't want to read their whining, don't read it... kinda like a delete key with spam...

I came from a G1, so honestly this phone is fine. Plus I'm a developer so honestly the usual complaints:
THE BATTERY LIFE SUCKS!
I have mine plugged in all day so I don't even notice.
THE GPS DOESN"T WORK

Uhmm yeah it does, additionally Android 2.2 supports running apps from the SD. Class 4, 5 or 6 SD cards work well. FYI, it came with a FREAKING 16GB SD CARD!
It's ok though... as people have said there will always be whiners and complainers.
You're entitled to whine and complain about how much your phone sucks, but until you own a G1 that never got upgraded past 1.6... STFU honestly.

Honestly only thing I am complaining about this phone is battery, light/ medium use will barely get me through the day. Other than the battery, this phone is great, and I'm coming from a 6 year old flip phone soooo yeah. Huge difference.

You pay for a product so you have the right to complain all you want. But there is a difference in inclining to get help and knowledge and then there is complaining just to complain for no reason except for someone to validate you and for attention

1) There is no valid argument here.
2) Everyone is contradicting themselves by whining on a post about no whining.
If hearing people complain is too much, then leave. Not everyone is tech savvy, nor do they posses any type of adult literacy. Seeing it is below 10%. People can look for solutions themselves. If you guys see someone complain, message them and give them a piece of your mind. But don't do it here, you are defeating the purpose.

Windows phone 7 on htc inspire?

Hey, it may seem weird, but I was wondering if there was anyway to put windows phone 7 on the htc inspire. I wanted to get a windows 7 phone, but all the ones from AT&T suck, so I just chose this one. I like it, but it would be nice to see how this would work on it. Thanks!

and i like how everyone talks about how stupid it is to want wp7 or other OS's on an android phone...or that we should just go buy a wp7 phone if we want that. Yet when people bring up the HD2, it is the coolest phone in the world because of its 'hackability' and the fact it can run most any OS, including wp7.

I was browsing a bit more and I noticed that the HTC desire and inspire are basically the same,so i was wondering if maybe anyone has made it for the desire.

I said to search so you can see there's (currently) no way to do this. So instead of creating a new thread, you could've posted in one of the existing threads to ask your lovely question. If there was a way, don't you think the existing threads would include the "how to"?

I agree, I remember reading that post and thinking the same thing. Phones that have the ability to boot multiple operating systems are lauded for how awesome they are, yet until it is discovered how the nay sayers drag on about how stupid that is.
I remember having an iPhone, and when they were trying to get Android to boot on it there were these huge posts about how stupid that was and why would you ever want to boot crappy Android on the holy phone...then as soon as it was booting Android people were falling over themselves to dust off the old 3G and fire up Android, then run around showing everyone how cool it was that they could dual boot.
If someone gets WP7 to boot on the Inspire, I'd love to give it a whirl. Hell, I'd even boot WM6.5 with Sense if it was possible. It just great fun.

That's the point. It was to point out this exact question had been asked fairly recently and the consensus was you can't install WP7 yet. The HD2 and Inspire/Desire HD are fairly significantly different pieces of hardware, saying the HD2 can do something why can't the Inspire is comparing apples to oranges. Not to mention, there are several other threads regarding WP7 on the Desire HD and the answers are all pretty much "no" or "not yet".

how about when capy got the sensation rom ported to the DHD, and everyone said it wouldn't work on the HD2??? Look at that, it is booted and at the same point as the DHD rom is.
Yup, the hardware is obviously completely different...they are completely different phones. That doesn't mean wp7 will never boot on a dhd. Just takes someone with the know-how to go through with the port. ATM, i don't know of anyone even trying, but i sure wish someone would!!

Arrested and raped. They're probably just mad because it was my first post here and they thought I was a typical annoying new user. But what they don't realize is that theres also another purpose of making the thread, more threads = more demand. Someone with the knowledge might see the demand in doing so and would therefore be more interested to do it. None of the threads were on the front of the page so I don't see why it's such a big deal.

real nice attitude for a senior member...some of you need to check your attitudes at the door. All he did was ask a simple question. scoot over to the rules section and familiarize yourself with the rules. (pay close attention to the word respect) you are lacking it here. There are several people here on XDA with poor attitudes. If you don't have the patience to guide, and help others, then don't respond. Some people have a difficult time navigating the site. I've been seeing more and more of this type of treatment by senior members and it's ridiculous.
.3 Flaming: XDA was founded as a group of people sharing information about certain mobile phones. Sharing does not involve virtual yelling (flaming) it does involve working together to solve problems in an environment of mutual respect and understanding. Losing your temper and flaming another member, or group of members, is not acceptable behavior.

The only way you MIGHT see this happen is if wp7 was released on a device with the exact same hardware as an android device.
Since the important parts of wp7 are closed source it is unlikely anyone with the ability will dedicate themselves to such a task. Much less deal with the legal consequences if they did it.
So no it isn't going to happen.

Or he's been here a lot longer than you, and does his job just fine. Look at his join date and his post count and then say what you just said again. He's a mod and therefore it's his job to do what he does. And I agree with diablo as well. Eitherway, no reason for arguments on the internet.

Should have known better then.

Lots of Infuse devs left 'cos things here got very unruly. This could be one of the reasons mods on Infuse forum are more strict that on others.

To Sqdnguns...I have been a member over a year...and had I read the rules...I would have known but I didn't...surfing for answers with issues.
I can man up and take the blame for my lack of paying attention to the rules. I meant no harm...just asking questions. Trying to gain the ability to ask tech questions too.
Regardless of how many posts or how long he has been around...that doesn't make a bean of difference to me. He could have pm'ed me like I said before and told me to chill out or something. He is still a nuisance in my book.
Now...with that said...its all irrelevant to what I am here to accomplish. I have found the answers I needed and will sit back quite again till next year.

That all being said, I will answer your question.
Yes technically the skyrocket and the sgs2 are upgrades (even though the sgs2 came out before the infuse...worldwide atleast) but this does not mean our infuse is worthless. those other phones are upgrades indeed but the difference is hardly anything to bash your head against the wall for.
Also, get use to constantly not having the best gear, these phones come out frequently so the odd are any phone will no longer be top of the line a few months after it hits the market. Welcome to android
Tldr: grow thicker skin; read the rules; Infuse is still great; get use to upgrades coming out every few months.

This is a common misconception about the development forum.
It's not for things talking about development.
It's for things you have developed.
IOW, the only time one should start a thread on that forum is when one has developed something, and wants to share it with the community.
Anyways, sorry for the derail.
Not trying to sound like an ass or anything.

In spite of Samsung's best efforts to bury the news by reporting it a couple of days before Christmas, Friday's disclosure that the Galaxy S and Galaxy Tab won't get upgraded to Android 4.0 drew a lot of justified ire. Now the company seems to be backtracking like a champ, as reported by ajnews in Korea, by claiming that it will review the viability of updating those two devices in response to strong customer demand. While restating the difficulties of fitting its entire software footprint onto the Galaxy S and Tab's limited memory capacity, Samsung has been quoted as saying it'll investigate ways to try and make it work. We've reached out to Samsung for official comment on the matter and will update you as soon as we hear back.
