I really like how iPhone has big photo and this on this link looks almost better, can we have this on our rooted X10 ? It would look much better when we can use more of our big screen for this.

Anybody ? Am I the only one who wants to have full screen caller photo and not just the half ?
Seriously, I think the way the X10 does the visual caller ID is great.
It's different and looks more modern.

Ya !! I like it the way it is on x10. I hate everything on the iphone though !!
I like the way X10 does it.. sorry buddy, you're not getting much support for this one!
I dont want it to be like iPhone but I want only to get fullscreen photo with ANSWER REJECT buttons, a lot of phones have that and X10 shows only half screen.
On my X10 mini, i get a tiny little thumbnail, where should i complain??
To SE, like us for not getting Froyo ;-)

hehe .. lolz
is Fullscreen Caller ID photo support X10?
no, you will see the fullscreen picture you set for a fraction of a second before Sony's caller (half screen) comes up. This will still not work for the X10, I am looking for such a app as well, but sofar no luck, the default Sony caller is made well and don't let another application overrule it unfortunately.

Just make sure its eliminated from task killers.
From application\settings\overwrite android pic\ ticked
From application edit contacts and select full screen pictures from SD card or facebook
This is what I get on My X10
Ps: dont ask more about the guy on my contact LOL
Can it use photos that are assigned to contacts already or I must add photos to contacts in that app so it will look like this ? I like it.

I tried, not working, need to redo all using the app. Bad things are sometimes default screen pops up and if you didn't align photo crop, timescape looks odd :-\

Correction:
I just found out in the settings, tick option call display low rez contact pic and it will show your contact pics already in the phone. But low resolution doesn't look nice. Ie. need to do all from application to see good quality pic.

I think X10 picture ID design looks more unique and nicer but there sure is a lot of lag. When I receive a call, before the caller's picture is displayed, I can see the picture of the last person in call log gets displayed like for a second or two. I hope this gets fixed in 2.1 update. I'd rather not have any picture displayed during the lag time than see wrong picture displayed.
I don't know why it works for some one and for some others it don't. Like I said, for me it is not working on calls, but works great on incoming SMS texts.
When someone calls I see the full screen caller ID for a fraction of a second. I use the latest version, which I downloaded from the net as I don't want to pay for apps which don't work on my phone. For me it is not working so I delete it from my phone again and try again with their next release....again...someday it should be working you might think
Its work 100%

MMM I wil like to try that !
is safe i mean sometimes doesn't get stuck or someting ? im scare to lock the phone and have to do a hard reset lol
(lets ask some of this awesome guys if they can make something for that ().
Maybe you may use software "PocketShield" (more info you may find here). This software is very good for complete locking solution. I use it and I'm satisfied with it. But it isn't free. But when you create new skin for this software you may win a licence.

Check it. I have been using S2U2 for a while. It does exactly what you want. It is a little tricky to get setup if you don't go through all of the settings and basically turn off everything.
What I did was turn off every function of S2U2. Then went back and changed my background pic for it, TURNED ON SLIDE TO ANSWER (full screen), added weather to the bottom corner and Voila! It worked. Just spend the 10 min or so setting it up correctly for yourself the 1st time and you'll be pleased I'm sure. Just give it another try.
I would love to have this as an app! It would look so awesome

I'm officially sick and tired of receiving all of my MMS messages in the form of a slideshow. This occurs in both the stock messaging program and even in the latest versions of HandcentSMS. Is there a way to get rid of this "feature"? I haven't found any settings or options that allow you to receive pictures as single messages.
Don't all phones handle MMS as a slideshow?
No, not all smart phones automatically make multiple attachments a slide show.
I actually wouldn't complain if you could do anything useful with the slide show, but it is completely unusable.
Honestly, I much prefer the iPhone's MMS style that popped each MMS message up separately. And please, don't give me the stop whining and buy an iPhone instead crap. I love the Captivate and specifically ditched the iPhone for it. That doesn't mean that the iOS method of handling MMS messages isn't preferable to some people.
Handcent SMS. Handles MMS superbly.
And it's free.

As I said in the OP, I use HandcentSMS and it still displays MMS messages as slide shows.
I asked this question weeks ago on here and in the android general and got now where. Seems this is the way its ment to play. Even a single file will have the play\pause button. Between stock and handcent its the same
Sent from my SAMSUNG-SGH-I897 using XDA App
Oh, you're talking about when you open the MMS in Handcent. I was referring to the popup notification, which has a "View MMS" button on it, and when pressed, shows the multipart MMS as a single message (in my case, a single URL and a scaled-down image from my security camera).
EDIT: Actually, even when I open an MMS in Handcent, I still see them as single threaded messages, much like SMS. See screenshot.

Ahh. I'm only receiving single image MMSes, so maybe that's why. But the stock Messaging app still shows the play/pause slideshow, even for those that just show a single message in Handcent. I guess it depends on what you're receiving maybe?
Im not at all comparing it to iohone but i sent that message to my wife. And on her screen it has two seperate pics. When i sent meassage i didn't click send as slide i just added one pic then attached another. She has my old 3gs iphone. Would rather my phone display the pics more like iphone style.
Im the only one in my area with the captivate i know of so i can't test to see if this is just some setting i dobt know of

Thanks so much! Changing from Default style slide show to FlatStyle slide show makes much better. You still can't select single pictures, can't zoom, and can't save individual pictures without returning to the full conversation; but this is still a lot better than being unable to control the slide show settings

thankyou so much, i asked about ann app of this kind after using go sms and loving the contacts search style in that. top app, top quality dev team!
Does not have Facebook Pictures syncing. None of my contacts have pictures. I'd really like to use this APP, but that's a huge deal breaker for me until it is fixed.
That's a limitation of Android. Install photo unlocker from the market and it will fix the issue.

Congratulations! It's perfect!!!! I really love the possibility to merge accounts because I had problem syncing my nexus one with google server and it copied my contacts 3 or 4 times. Now it's perfect! The only problem is to click "Merge" on every duplicate .-.
its cool app.

Those contact pictures are from japanese pornz. lol
This looks promising.
It is a cool app to filter through contacts quickly
But then if I select one contact from the main list, I get the detailed view from the stock application.
Is this how the app is supposed to behave or do I have to change some settings?
By the way, after installation the app changes name from go contacts to go dialer
Another excellent app from GO team. I searched for a good contacts app alternative and I think I will stick with this. One important think missing only: support of other language letters in dialer. I'm interested for greek alphabet. If you plan to support this future, these are the letters:
Code:
--- ΑΒΓ ΔΕΖ
ΗΘΙ ΚΛΜ ΝΞΟ
ΠΡΣ ΤΥΦ ΧΨΩ
And if you plan to support localization, I can make the greek translation too.
Just let me know.
This app drains battery. I have been tracking it's behaviour for several hours via Watchdog Task Manager (refresh every minute) and it reported Go Contacts every 5-15 minutes. CPU usage was usually around 5-6%. Why is it running in the background in sleep mode?
Secondly, there is a bug with Go Dialer - sometimes (very, very often) clicking on the shortcut on the homescreen doesn't activate dialer. It's just not responding to touch. Then I have to re-add it to start working again. One more thing - the default icons are really ugly - it feels almost like iPhone, which is an awful thing for me. Uninstalled, but I'll keep watching the development.
im really liking this app....anyway to integrate Gosms into this?...that would be awsome!
This app is simple but useful for people that heavily use full screen apps (games/browsers/ect). It gives a nice little notification that shows the text message/email you just received, allowing you to decide if it's worth quitting your app to reply to it (see picture), even if you're in another app! You can turn the notifications on and off via the main screen. The best part of it is you can play and the notification will not interfere with your touch on the game. It might also have the simplest options menu.
FEATURE LIST:
Works with third party SMS applications
Now supports K9 Mail (requires K9 Mail for functionality)
Shows the sender (name from contacts list or number if contact doesn't exist)
Shows the sender and contents of the message
Low profile
Doesn't interfere with the touch interface of whatever task you are doing
Easy to turn on or off just by the touch of a checkbox
Lightweight
No more quitting Angry Birds just to see that someone texted you "lol"
Works in portrait and landscape orientations
Permissions explained:
Read SMS: So that it can read the text to show you
Read contacts: so that it can see if anyone in your contacts shares the same number and the text sender
Please report any bugs to me.
P.S. I know this is a VERY simplistic app and may seem pointless. If you feel that way that is fine, however I have had a lot of people that laughed at it originally tell me they can't use any full screen app without and they never turn it off. So I simply ask you give constructive criticism. Thank you!

Simple Torch
This is a very simple app that just let's you turn your phone's flashlight on and off, so you can use it as a torch in the dark.
This app will not:
Share your grandma's birthday on Twitter
Claim to be a flashlight, but is just a white screen
Request every available permission
This app will do:
Load up super fast
Be a simple flashlight
Need only a single permission to access the flash
It does not look very fancy, because that would make it slower.
I made this app after i only found apps that wanted permission to read my mails, sms or similar - or needed years to load.
This is also my first app ever :good:
Screenshot:
On startup you should see this and the flash should turn on as well.
The app should also be able to run in the background. Use the back button to shut the app down.
I wanted to put this on the google play store - but they want $25 and my credit card info... meh.

Should i mention that you should not install this if you don't have a back camera or flash?
Tested on Samsung Galaxy S Advance; Android 2.3.6

Starts fast.

I hope it will still be as fast as it is now.
I also have some plans on a few settings.

Update:
After beeing very busy with other stuff, I uploaded the source code to github.
I edited the Thread, feel free to take a look
Thanks, this works great!
I've been using other app's for this, but they al took too long to boot up, and sometimes just shut down because i'd be opening ads …
Again, a nice interface would be nice, but not at the cost of boot time.
Thanks for your reply.
I thought about different things to make it look nicer but could not really think of anything that would work at the same speed.
e.g. a background image would still take time to load so that is out of question.
Tell me if you have any simple ideas to make it look better

Well, i thought about one thing …
When using the app in a dark environment, the white background can be blinding a bit, making it harder to see the actual light coming from the led.
Using a black background would give it more contrast.
Useful stuff.
P.S. Thanks for code)

Thank you. No problem, hope it helps
Thanks!
I just found this and wanted to say thanks. I've tried a bunch of flashlight apps on my android, most were full of junk and/or didn't work.
This app works fine, doesn't do any BS in the background and has a small memory footprint - as an app like this should. Good job!
A black background and a bigger button would be better. I'll see if the code is easy to change.
EDIT: changing "Theme.Light" to "Theme.Black" in styles.xml and the button's width / height parameter in main_window.xml did the trick
could not be more perfect and elegant code
Great app.
At 40K??? Are you KIDDING? freaking awesome!!!!
Elegant design.
perfect in every way.
an app that does just what you want...and nothing you don't.
Keep up the good work, you will go far.
i really like the simplicity of your app, and the idea that you really want to help without taking anything from the user
