Do Not Buy Invisible Shield !!

I feel like crying !! I applied the shield and after a while i knew the bubbles will not come out, I hadnt even finished applying it fully yet. After slowly pulling it off to my horror it looks like a very thin layer of the screen has come off in some places. Im totally gutted. The screen still works but it looks terrible especially after applying the normal ms protector as it exaggerates the screen difference. Im off to cry.

You can see along the left edge and a small amount on the right edge

that's because you have dirt on it or you didn't apply it properly? i had a few bubbles but cleared the dirt off the screen with magic tape and reapplied (about 5 times) and eventually i got it perfect.

When you do it the right way there will be no bubbles. Its not the Shields fault but yours.

wait so what you guys are saying once its on you cant take it off. Listen, I took the shield off so it shouldnt take some screen layer off with it. ITS THE SHIELDS FAULT !. Its not effing super glue i applied i followed it to the letter. You should be able to take the stupid shield off safely without taking the screen with it.
BTW the screen was clean

Are you sure it took something of the screen? It looks like if it just some glue from the shield.

i have tried tp clean. im 99% sure its the screen. if it was glue it would have come off by now. im so gutted

Of course not, it's not their friggin' fault he ripped his screen off by removing their product while it's not actually meant to be removed. If his Diamond would've been scratched after applying the Shield, sure, he could've let them take responsibility. On top of that, it still looks like its glue residue.
People need to stop suing everyone because they put their cat in the microwave, and start taking their own friggin' responsibility.

After seeing ur picture, I believe it's the top layer of the screen itself coming off. It happened to me once when I tried to take it off my iphone, all the screening on the back came off with the shield.

I removed InvisibleShield from my Diamond yesterday without any problems. It is an excellent shield, but too sticky for me. Now I have Boxwave AntiGlare.

With this type of screen protector you need to warm it up a little bit to soften the adhesive before you remove it. Use a hair-dryer and warm it, don't heat it up. You don't need to do that with the regular stuff, use the sticky side of the tape to remove the protector.

I believe it's the top layer of the screen itself coming off too.. becos it happen on my diamond before but i did not apply any shield (was lucky to have 1 to 1 exchange tht time)

How about you read up first before you start mouthing off?
This is what Zag, the makers of InvisibleShield, state:

Indies Diamond was damaged due to the removal of InvisibleShield, so of course it is Zags responsibility, pure textbook. And lawsuit is only applicable if Zag refuse to accept responsibility.

I've got mine on as it says, loving at the moment.
You just need to be careful and patient when you apply it.
Took me about an hour to apply it properly and over a few days the small bubbles will go away.

so I'm beginning to accept the fact that there's not much I can really do about my loose hinge. the truth is, it doesn't really hinder me in during regular use at all. however, its frustrating that I know it could have been better.
I might be satisfied if there was some case or something that secured the screen when open a bit more. maybe something involving magnets. anybody heard of anything like this? anybody wanna brainstorm on how to improvise it?

Dude... forget about it. If its really that bad... return it. Magnets will ruin the built in compass and god knows what other parts. Bad idea. Its supposed to be floatly. Trust me... its a welcom addition compared to the mytouch slide keyboard. The g2 is pretty smooth and as long as it doesn't fall when you hold it in a normal position, who cares...

bought my G2 on the 6th from Tmo store, mine is pretty solid, not loose at all, upside down, 45 degree angle, the screen doesnt go nowhere, closed or open, if i dont push it, it doesnt move, not even if i forcefully flick it!
im sure you could get a new one from tmobile/htc if it really bothers u, but looking at videos on youtube of the faulty screen, it would sure as hell bother me! good luck!

I'm in the same boat as j.books here. I'm LOVING the phone and while the wiggly hinge isn't an issue in how I use my phone it is just annoying knowing that it could/should have been better. I don't think I'm going to go through the hassle of returning the phone; it runs so well, I'm really afraid to spit in it's eye. :S

I'd contact whoever you got the phone from. If it is terribly loose and wiggly it's either a factory defect, packing fault. Possibly also fault of carrier. Either way if it's that much of an issue you may as well take the time to get to the bottom of it and figure out who to contact for a replacement or where to send your back to get it fixed. It's inconvenient for the user so make that clear when you contact them and demand some compensation.

I called t-mo last week and went to a t-mo store. it wasn't a 'known issue' at that point, and the t-mo store was absolutely worthless in terms of advice. one person was rude, one was nice, but both told me to call customer support, even though I already had.
the more I use the phone, the less of an issue it is. but it still bothers me. esp now that I know some people don't have the loose hinge. my 2 weeks is up on monday so I'm gonna call today and see if I am able to exchange it. problem is, I really don't want to go the whole weekend without it :\

Take it apart, find the springs, and replace them with stronger ones. Other than that, your choices are replace it or live with it. Personally I'd replace the springs since I like to take things apart

Tell me how it goes don't see a G2 dis-assembly vid anywhere around

If you wanted to do this you need self adhesive magnet tape, thinest available less than 1mm or I don't think this mod will help.
Disclaimer. I haven't tried this but am sure it will work.
Cut tape to 2 1/4" x 1/2"
Cut 1/8" wide notch @ 1" to the right of left/rear edge.
Depth of notch [email protected] 1/4" ( the notch is for the small microswitch that senses the phone is closed, this switch also creates the limiting factor of magnet thickness. Bend the hoop upward you say? )
Test fit before you remove the backing ( magnet tape is placed between ribbon cable on left and 3rd hinge on right with notch around the microswitch. )

PS this mod will hold the screen open and closed with no effect in between. I don't think it'll effect the compass because there is already tons of EMI in these devices, also you can recalibrate the compass and since the magnet is static it should compensate. Again good luck! And post pics if anyone is brave enough to attempt.

thanks dude. I was thinking of something like that, but I wasn't sure any magnetic tape would be thin enough. I looked it up and they never seem to specify the thickness, but there are products described as 'extra thin,' such as this: http://www.amazon.com/Extra-Flexible-Adhesive-Magnetic-Dispenser/dp/B000NNQ1CK ...think it would work?

Umm.... yep that looks like it'll do. When you get it stick some on wax paper, flip upside down,get one of those 6" metal "machinist rulers" , do your layout with a sharp pencil,and cut with exacto knife or new utility blade, test fit before removing wax paper(also compass,gps,etc function). Maybe use some cardboard pieces to hold the hinge open, getting the magnet into position will be the hardest part. Good luck and post pics/review.

Do It!!! I would do it myself but I'm actually happy with my hinge and have to many other projects in the pipeline at the moment.

Apart from magnetic tape, we can also consider velcro/hook & loop
just stick a little at the back of the screen and the upper part of the keyboard
not too much to avoid noise/falling hair/forceful push
just the amount that keeps the screen in position anytime will do

dissasembling an HTC inspire- stuff behind screen!

wondering if anyone has ever dissasembled thier inspire before....if its hard, tricky, details.
wierd thing, i dropped my phone yesterday, as it was falling i fumbled for it, smacked it up agains the wall in my house. Bits of drywall got wedged between the screen and the body of the phone, as i was trying to get it out with a thin knife, some of it dropped down inside the phone. i want to get it out because i have a feeling it will ende up making white dust in my screen.
another reason id like to get it open is to see if i can get the bottom right coner of the phone re-secured. its loose and floats up and down.

DO NOT DO THIS! Not that you don't have the ability to do so...But because this phone has not been on the market for a year yet. the screen coming up is a defect. Get it replaced.
EDIT: A EXTREMELY slight movement is normal. It has to give to be stable. It's kind of the same concept behind a wooden roller coaster. Some, very minor flex is required, as it actually supplies more structural integrity. Now...If you had a knife under the screen, that is far too much flex, and should in fact be replaced.

lol i think you are misunderstanding me, i was just trying to scrape the drywall from the little gap between the body and the screen on the left side fo the phone, i wasnt prying under it. the bottom right corner is something seperate. its not coming completely apart but it flexes noticeable up and down and make the screen turn funny colors there. ive read that its a common thing, but its not bad enough for me to want to send my phone in for replacement. i didnt get it from at&t

Ah ok. I understand now. And I know what you need to get ALL of it out in seconds! You need Cyber Clean. I got some for Christmas and this stuff is amazing! Attached is what to look for. You can find it at Target normally in a little pouch. Got mine from thinkgeek and got a whole tub.
Damn...I sounded like Billy Mays there for a second. haha

Funny my screen "flexes" on the bottom right corner. It really bugs me, its stupid, but I wish I could fix it. It pops up, then I push it down. It's stays for less than 10min and pops back up. I'm not sure if its worth the hassle to call HTC.

I used a clamp on mine last night. Placed a cloth between it and the phone and let the clamp do its thing for about 10 hours before taking it off this morning. I can see and tell a noticeable improvement. No flex. But only time will tell if this did the trick or not. So far after 3 hours it has not come up at the corner.

will HTC really replace the phone over this corner issue? i dont think im going to be able to get the drywall out of my phone and its really bugging me, its wedged in theere HARD. hard enought to make the body of the phone flex away from the side of the screen......and there some thin plastic layer between the phone body and the side of the screen.....which i have messed up by trying to scrape the drywall out with a knife. boo. phone works perfectly but i hate the cosmetic issues

Have other people been having the screen coming up problem? Mine is so severe that I can see light bleed on the bottom right hand corner. Wonder if it's covered by AT&T warranty

I just started having this same proble.I am TIIIIIIIRRRRRREEEDDDDD of ATT's crap though. I have been on the phone with them for 32 hrs in 38 days with now 4 different phones and I LOVE the Inspire. I am having the same issues now though where the screen is coming up and it's really really annoying. I mean REALLY annoying. I am thinking to just put an otter box defender on it and it will be fine? Can anyone confirm that the defender will keep the screen in place or any case for that matter?

I bought a silicon cover for $2 shipped off ebay and I didn't notice this issue until I just checked after reading this thread. The cover adds some serious bulk to the phone, but kept it from breaking when I dropped it from upper chest level on concrete (I'm 5'11"... and I swiped too far and caught the edge with my thumb. I almost cried).
P.S. It still hit hard enough to gouge the metal through the thick silicon

I dropped my phone yesterday and scratched the chrome bezel that goes around the from of the phone. Where can I get a replacement part or is there any way to repair it?

This sounds like a CRAZY idea, but I build plastic models, so this might actually work.
Maybe you can try masking off everything on your phone except for the bezel then sand it down til all the chrome is gone (low grit to higher grit for a smooth finish). After cleaning all of it up, use any color spray paint you want to repaint the bezel. You might need primer for it, depending on what kind of paint you use. Maybe topcoat it as well to protect the paint. Just make sure you spray in very light coats and it shouldn't run underneath the masking tape.
Obviously, this will take a lot of work, but that's the only thing I can think of if you can't find spare parts.
Also, the person mbernusg mentioned in his post might've done something similar. Just a random guess though.

OK, so today I threw my Incredible (AMOLED if it matters at all) into my backpack and some keys in there scratched it a little bit. The scratches are not too deep, and you can't feel them or anything, so I was hoping there might be a way to fix it. I looked around a little bit and saw that toothpaste can help for getting scratches out of things like CD's and such. Has anyone tried this on their phone? I don't think anything bad would happen, but I don't really know...
Also, I know that I should have bought a screen protector, so please don't remind me about that.

'Getting scratches out' sounds like a bit of a oxymoron. You don't have something IN your screen, a scratch is more like a bit of surface screen missing.
I can't see why toothpaste would harm the screen. Just don't get the phone wet, turn it off, clean up afterwards, etc.
Really can't see how it would help either...

I have never heard of using toothpaste to fix scratches, but since the scratches are not to deep I try this product that has done wonders it is called apple sauce and was originally made to fix iPod scratches. Look it up on amazon.

Yes! It works well, rub it in tiny little circles starting in the center of the screen and working your way out. BUT BE CAREFUL. don't push hard ar all, and don't do the same part more than 2 or 3 little "circles" or you may destroy the screen. if you do it right though, it should work fine.

What do you mean "destroy the screen"? How easily can I accidentally do this? I don't want it to get worse!

They say you can do it on CD's it acts like a polish. I think it all depends on the surface of the screen and what kind of metirial it is made up of.

If you rub it on your face every night before going to bed you'll grow a proper manly beard too. Really, there's no limit to the things you can do with mustard with it's amazing properties.*

Nice! I tried the mustard, and it looks like it worked! My screen looks brand new! Also, I think I can already see stubble after just one night!!! The only problem is now my pillow is stained yellow...
Anyways, I thought that the toothpaste helped because of the slight abrasiveness of it...?

There are products here in the UK made under the Duraglit brand as Brasso and Silvo. These are metal polishes, but are also available as a cotton wad roll impregnated with the stuff. I do not know if they are sold in the USA, but there may be something similar from US manufacturers. As their name suggests they are made to clean and polish brassware and silverware.
It is a very fine abrasive suspension, but it also contains ammonia to remove any tarnish, and white spirit to act as a lubricant. They are quite good at removing scratches from watch glasses etc., by gently cutting into the surface, down to the level of the scratch.
On touch screen devices, the touch screen sensitive layer lives above the screen glass, but under a plastic protective layer. It will be this top layer that you have scratched. The product above or something similar may work, but check that the white spirit does not attack the protective plastic layer.
As mentioned above small, circular movements, a little at a time may work. If you cut through the protective layer, you are in trouble.

Nice to see people getting into the spirit of things Anyway, i hope you find a solution that works. I personally might be tempted to ask the manufacturer to replace the digitizer, as long as the cost wasn't too prohibitive. I tried changing one myself on an old phone and it didn't work out too well

Am not sure about what kind of display cover your phone has. But, if it's capacitive or IR and the top layer is glass, take it to the local wrist-watch merchant/repair center and they could fix it for you using H2SO4 and some filler.
Alternatively, you can have the top layer of the touch panel replaced.
And, next time, do use a screen protector. =D

I can't see why toothpaste would harm the screen. Just don't get the phone wet, turn it off, clean up afterwards, etc.

I am not sure if toothpaste would help the screen scratches, its not a tooth scratch.. LMAO

Is it true that tooth paste works like sand paper on glass, does that mean that it contain something harder than glass? I don't have scratch just want to remove paint between my screen protector. Want to know if tooth paste actually micro scratch the glass.
