its a rogers rom that comes with a flash player enabled browser and other sweets that come with a rogers rom, such as the smart dialer, apart of course from being lightweight, which makes it run smoothly on my 32b G1

patience. devs do this voluntarily at their own time. demanding for features won't really get you anywhere. Especially with 2.1 AOSP being out there now, i'm sure there's a lot already going for them.

Unfortunately the above link suggests installing a different rom to get a mt enabled kernel.

I think you can't just install multitouch on a rom because it needs to be in the kernel. So or you wait the rom builder of your rom includes it in his rom, or you need to try another rom.
what base firmware is this ROM using?

You wont find someone to do this. You've cluttered the developers thread with your groveling. You should read up on the methods and do it yourself. Plus, then you could do a lot of extra goodies. If you want something done, do it.

you mean learn java and android programming, and in a few months, or maybe a year, i'll be able to do it all myself... sounds like a great idea..
but here's a better one,
in this world we live in, there are specialized and professional people, each in their own field, so when someone "like you or me" need something that is not in our ability or specialty, we seek a professional...

I think it's the best looking theme developed so far period. Everything flows well.
Im gonna start a new thread with a poll asking which rom to start with. Eventually I will probably get it to all roms. I haven't gotten the OK from the original devs to upload it yet, but this way I can start working on it

I already ripped it apart, and i just need the pngs and they are all basically the same names, so i just need to change the size of them and then throw them in a Damage.....Permission!!!right, idc if i have it done before we get permission thats awesome. Even open source can have a creative commons license on it. That dev obviously did a lot of work to make that theme. The device he wrote it for (Android) may be open source, but he can claim rights to his own work. It's the exact same concept as paid apps on the market. They're writing code for an open source platform, but that doesn't make their apps open source.
Not trying to cause a problem, just saying that he didn't do anything wrong. The dev seems like a really cool guy, I'm sure he'll pass on the permission to you guys wanting to port this.
I have emailed them. I will be attempting to port this over to Darchdroid once I get approval.

While I see what you are saying and i did look at your link on creative common license I did look at the dark edge theme and i see no mention of this in the description nor did i see him explain it when he said to ask for permission. I understand alot of hard work goes into creating these themes and the same goes for the two themes i have created. It took me countless hours and fine tuning. But with that said I have to say that once you release something for FREE around here then i believe that to be fair game. Now if you were talking about a paid app then i would agree that the designer has rights for you not to change or redistribute his work in anyway without his permission. But to say that something for free is not to be aloud to be ported over to a certain phone till the creator says its ok is a load of BS to me. Not only is it in metamorph which 75 % of people dont use here but the guide he used is extremely confusing. To many steps. Much easier to just make it a flashable and let it do its thing. I myself have no issues porting this over and will be doing so regardless. Sorry if that bothers you but if it does dont use it and if u want u can feel free to use my two themes for what ever you like. Be it as they are or break them apart use the pngs the xms the separate apks. i really dont care. Once i released then i have no control over what happens to it. As I said, no harm meant. I'm just saying that some people like to receive credit for the work that they do. I used to create custom forum signatures and such with Photoshop several years ago and I was totally okay with people using my work, but I just asked that people give me credit. That seems all that the Dark Edge people are asking. They don't want you guys porting their work and then claiming it was all yours, which I can respect.
To be honest, if this does get ported over for Darchdroid, I will probably use it regardless. It's an amazing theme.

Yes you are correct it says it in big red letters. Doesn't mean there is a license to it. If you click the link for the common license then you can see that you can apply for one and mark your items with it. So again i do not see that. Him asking not to use it is like me saying hey don't read this or dont flash that rom that i pieced together. People are going to do what they want regardless. So as long as I give credit to someone I don't see anything wrong with it. Unless it is copy write protected and or a paid app.

hey guys im trying to find someone to create an app, I have no idea how complicated it would be to do it but I am looking for an app simialer to strobox for the iphone. if I was smarter I might be able to understand the code so I could make it myself but I have bought and read several books on how to do it and just dont get it. if anyone wants or can help let me know.
I too have been craving this app since I got an android phone. This is way beyond my experience, but if someone makes it, I'll buy it.

Well, If you find someone that could tackle the UI, I could work in the rules for you. I just wouldn't have a clue about what rules to use unless I was given them by someone who knows. That's over my head.

UI design or coding? I definitely couldn't do the coding, but the design maybe.
Oh yeah, the Strobox app is under a creative commons license, so the UI could probably be used as longs the the app stays under creative commons. Which, would probably restrict the app from being sold.
yes the dev put it under CC because she wanted to make sure that it was a free app that being said I would be more than happy to "DONATE" to anyone that could do this, and would be more than happy to help with the graphics aspect of it if someone can code it. The code is WAY over my head.
@bernard_photography: its nice to see someone else intrested in this. I have been trying to find a way to get ahold of the dev of strobox since I got my hero. I use speedlights a lot and it was a life saver for repeateability on location.
and the thing about it is that yeah you would have to make it a free app but if you where really looking to get into app dev this could really get your name out there just like it did for the strobox dev. I mean as soon as she released it it was all over ALL of the major photography blogs.
I'm in contact with the dev now to see what I can work out.

i was looking though the touch wiz sys dump and i liked the keyboard so i put it in an update format. Just flash it, i gurantee youll like it. If not just remove it. I included the lwp as well that were posted earlier the lwp from it too, they work great on the phone though, I need someone to test it for me, cus swype is a pain to remove w/o wiping, and i already have all this on my phone. you just need to flash it like a rom. It contains 4lwp and 1keyboard app and their libs...dl the new lwp and kb HERE

thanks for testing it and the quick feedback. i stated that it included the lwps in the op. they are from the new touch wiz dump. Ill check to see whats up with swype, just figured id throw it out there for those that didnt see this stuff yet....also, did you remove your old swype completely? or did you not have it? cus its VERY hard to get rid of.....just wondering so i can fix if something wrong.

sorry about that, and thanks.ok, soon as i get home ill post a link to a really sweet htc skinned swype mod. i use the red one in my newest rom, but the green one is slick too. im going to hang out for a little bit, when i get back ill put it up, and just take it out of the other one and ill mess with it, since its a full version.....

You saw something you liked, but didn't test it because its too much work to uninstall what you already have but that's ok because you already have it installed so you need someone else to take a blind leap of faith and install something you "gurantee" they'll like but if they don't that's ok too because they can just uninstall it (which really they can't do easily) but if you want to see what it is in the first place tough luck because you're out and about and have no time to post a screenshot for your own quasi-release?
If I were Canadian, I'd add "Eh?" at the end of that.
I strongly recommend that if you want to be taken seriously, you put a little more thought into your release posts. I applaud you for taking the time to share with the community, but frivolous posting of root-level patches without some form of quality control on your part could lead to a dangerous precedent of buggy and/or malicious code being introduced in the same channels.
I know you probably have the communities best interest at heart, but holding yourself to a higher standard keeps the bar high for the rest of those issuing releases to demonstrate an aptitude for solid documentation so people know precisely what to expect from dedicated contributors.

Do you really think i need YOU or ANYONE else to take ME seriously? my work speaks for itself, i could care less what you think of me, but just dont be disrespectful or snotty about it when you obviously have no clue as to what i do, if you say " which really they can't do easily" when you are speaking about removing a single app.I take it youve never been to dev? cus thats what ive been doing for the past 3 days, is working on my last rom. Then when i finish something that takes more than a day i take a break. I am not a developer nor have i ever claimed to be one.i have many contributions to the site,and taken a **** ton of time making sure my theads for them are maintained and everything i work on i support. Not a blind leap of faith, i have many pps that ASK to test for me because i dont have time to when im working. I have a 8mo old and fiance to take care of as well, this cannot be my ENTIRE life(though i might enjoy that)ive been asked permission to port 4 of my roms to other devices, and about 100 pps i talk to on a regular basis,you can talk to that will tell you another story about what I can DO. ? is what can YOU do? and WHY would you be ragging on someone who makes regular contributions to the site to help members enjoy their newest hardware just a little bit more? you want to see more go to hero-cdma and tell me some more about quality control. As I've eben working on my own theme, I've asked a lot of questions , and (obviously) learned a ton along the way. I've been keeping a log of a lot of it, but, I was wondering if you would all be interested in an "end-all, be-all" guide to theming from scratch? With things like important file locations, tutorials on .9 pngs, decompiling and editing xml, etc. etc.? Maybe I'd even PDF it and have screenshots and everything.
Just something I've thought of, but, it's REALLY not worth it if people aren't interested, bc it'd be time-consuming.
I would definitely be interested. I have been looking for something for awhile now. I have found bits and pieces haven't been able to put it all together and figure it out. I have an app I have been trying to theme to match the clock I am using and cannot get it right. I don't know what I am doing wrong.

uhm that would be awesome ive tried changing a bunch of things on my phone on to find out that maybe half ever work and not knowing why lol
I'd love to see this too. I was spoiled with theming for the Palm Pre & would love to get into theming for Android now.
I am always open to answering questions about theming. If I can anyway.
Personally, I learned a lot of my android business from SDX-Developers. There a bunch of us brainstormed and basically relearned android. We pulled a lot of info from XDA yes. And for that I am greatful. However, since so much had to be relearned, a lot of info is documented in the forum. And most devs are still active so getting a response to a question, or at least someone to bounce ideas off of, is pretty easy. Android across the board is very similar no matter what device.
I would first recommend google search being that there are a ton more forums beyond xda with information. SDX is where I usually go for more technical questions or discussion, but then again it is where all the Moment users went when XDA shunned us.
Documentation is key if you want to remain open source so the mods can be used or altered for future use.

Glad that people could use something like this. At some point I'll deifnitely start to work on it.
yeah, would defiantly appreciate something likes this. I spend so much time with 360's i hardly have time to mess with my phone and this would make it a much easier task.

i could do that, i have a ton of spare 360 cases i use for my jtags i sell.
