SetCPU - EVO 4G Themes and Apps

Anyone noticed the update? Looks like they are experimenting w the Evo. Just updated will see.

Not sure if anyone has been playing w this, but underclock/profiles works for me (in case anyone like to save a bit of battery) It wont stick after a reboot though.

Np, i can confirm w system panel that the clock sets, i got mine at 245/245 profile screen off and i have seen a dif w battery drainage while the screen is asleep, of course only under clocking, no OC.

Seems the only clock that sticks is 768.

Afaik you can't underclock the Evo w the widget w the current kernel, unless u are running the overclockable one. Looks like the dev for setcpu have been tweaking it to make it somewhat work w the evo and the stock kernel. Btw if u look around xda u can get it free.

So i uninstalled overclock widget and installed setcpu and enabled screen off profile set at 245. How can I test that its underclocking to 245 when screen is off?
EDIT: Nvm i figured it out

Does this thing come with some docs or something? None of it really makes sense to me and I would like to think I have some clue as to what I am doing LOL
what do you have yours set at? I set a profile up for screen off at 245/245 but thats about it really...hopefully that works when its sleeping.

I have the same settings for when the screen is off, make sure you disable perflock on menu. I tried 576? And it didn't stick, 768 is really what i use, its good enough for me and also the screen off settings which i have priority set at 90.

i noticed OC widgets has not been working i have setCPU installed and 2 profiles set up
i have my main set up for
998 on and 576 min

IIRC 576 didn't stick for me, but im not 100% sure, i know 245 works, set it to 245/245 and run linpack, i got ones, also i verify using systempanel.

I've got SetCPU scaling ondemand between 998 (max) and 245 (min). I can tell it's working by refreshing an app like System Panels, and seeing the clock speed vary.
The newer versions of SetCPU have a preflock disabler which is the kernel workaround I think.
The only problem I have with SetCPU is that everytime the phone reboots, I need to "Automatically detect speeds". Apart from that, everything is great!

It's not there anymore.
Yea I wonder why iit was pulled. Worked great for me...
Thankfully, if it was already downloaded, it's still in your clockworkmod/ folder. Rejoice, those who have already downloaded it.

Interesting. I'm not seeing much of a difference. Quadrant scores went from 1611 on adryn's 1.8 kernel to 1789 on the 1.5ghz. Seems very low for both. Wonder what's giving me issues...
Sent from my ADR6400L using XDA App
I get 2200+ on quadrant at 1.5ghz.. and 2700+ at 1.8ghz using Drod's kernels..
Can't wait to try his 1.9+ kernels soon
This is absolute insanity, I can't believe this but I was running this kernel to the max (1.5ghz) and the performance was insane. 2200 - 2500 quadrant scores (even one 2532). Well, drained my battery to 15% after about 3 hrs using "ondemand" scaling. So I flashed adrenelyn's 1.9, phone ran perfectly smoothly but I wasn't happy anymore with kernel scores in the 17's and 18's. So I reflashed drod's kernel and have been running at 1209 mhz (2064, 2216, 2092 quads.), phone is still super responsive and it is now 2 in the morning, I have been running it since roughly2pm and I have 37% battery left 12 hrs. later (ondemand). I have been using the crap out of this phone: 2.5 hrs. phone calls, 1.5 web time, texts all day, followed twitter, did some theme changes. I found my go to kernel for now.
Tried the 1.8 but SetCpu widget kept reporting 1.8 even after I slowed it down. Going into the app I could tell it was follow my settings. Went back to 1.5. Temp to high for me even though stable. I might try conservative setting if widget reports right.

If the 1.8 is the same as the 1.5 you don't need to disable Perflock. It has already been been disabled.
Edit: I just read in drod2169 Twitter that in order to lower the clock speed on the 1.8 you do need to disable the Perflock...sorry.

Correct me if I'm wrong. All scaling does is how the CPU scales itself(to a given formula depending on the profile) for example if using a conservative scale the CPU scales itself by 15mhz depending on the task so if your min is 218 it would go up or down by 15 until it reaches the maximum or min. Since no kernals are available yet for our device it will use the default scaling profile built in. my screen off profile is a Max 218 Min 218 with a priority of 100. Regardless of the scaling profile selected I am forcing the CPU to down clock to that set of perimeters

You are correct in that CPU scales itself based on the parameters Nvidia gave it. In this particular kernel there is only one governer by default (this is why you cannot alter the governor settings) and it's set to Performance Powersave. The scaling driver used according to the source code is tegra_cpufreq. I haven't dug far enough through the code to figure out what that means but it appears most frequencies are in intervals of 24mhz.
so i've been hesitant to use my setcpu. just wondering what everyone set their profiles to. lol

I would attempt three things before seeking any further escalation. First I would try running fix permissions using rom manager /cwm if that doesn't work delete the apk using root explorer and reinstall the software if that doesn't work create a nand backup of your device and start from scratch. Setcpu should work with the tegra2 plus the developer you reach out to regarding this will ask you to do this regardless.

Ok when you guys first start SetCpu (after clean install), what screen do you guys get? And what selection do you make?
When i first boot the phone I have a whole bunch of options to select on which device I use. The first one should be tegra2.

Battery Calibration

Didn't see this posted yet in the apps section, there is an app which helps in calibrating your battery. The app is located in the market and is created by an XDA member all credit goes to him. You must be rooted for this app to have an effect, I can vouche for this app as I have used both on the EVO and now on the G2X I have experienced great battery life after using this in conjunction with setcpu.

Out of curiosity, what are people using for the settings on SetCPU (ie max and max). Also, I noticed the "Scaling" option is grayed out on my G2x over my old Nexus One. Does the scaling option require a custom kernel I am guessing? Thanks.

[Q] What is a better app then Set CPU?

Set CPU doesn't seem to remember settings very well even though I save them and back them up. I've chosen ondemand profile and still the same problem with not only the settings I've input for battery, screen off, etc but the main screen is constantly different as well.
I'm using SkyIcs with update 7.4 and Faux 10u kernel.
Any help is greatly appreciated. Doesn't matter if its a paid app, but I really need something better that will change the speeds properly as I use this as my "daily driver"
Thanks again!

found that I have to use sys tuner and fauxclock both w/faux123 kernel for everything to go well ..
won't go into deepsleep unless force both cpus online at boot is enabled
running -.75mv across the board except like 450mhz and under which are all 812mv as per faux's recommendations ..
some phones can handle -100mv some only -.50mv
sorry to hear that about setCPU profiles not working was about to try it tonight.
still might ....
