you man from your point of view you see that it's not the easiest way just because it need you to dowenload 500 mb
but with me it is easy as i use it like using xp windos
it's opnions
you may be right or me no problem

That way is still much easier as it only takes 15 mins tops. The other way takes that just to set it up

WM 5.0 flash,maybe can help!

So, as I see there is many newbees here without experience in ROM flashing. Some of them need just ROM in another language.
Because there is really no simple guide for all who wants to flash their prophet to get at least WM 5.0 WWE (or other language) I will write my experience (this doesnt mean I can solve al problem!!!!, cosĀ“in flashing about 50 devices already I really had no problems-just followed instrucions from this forum).
If you have a Prophet (S200, XDA Neo etc) and want ENG WM 5.0 ROM just follow next few steps, and it should works
1. Determine do you have G3 or G4 model
2. Download and install ActiveSync 4.5
3. Download ROM (my suggestion PVTemp) and unzip somewhere on desktop
4. If your device is locked-> unlock it using lokiwiz
5. Connect device to PC ( running WIN XP suggested) and sign as a GUEST!
6. Disconnect and go to bootloader mode -pres COMM button and after that soft reset with pen, relise pen in few seconds and your screen should show RGB colors. DEVICE BATTERY MUST BE ABOVE 50%!
7. Connect your PDA on PC (it will show USB on screen, down left)
8. Go to directorx and run ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G4.exe (if its G4) or ROMUpdateUtility_NV_G3.exe (if its G3)
9. Follow instrucions on PC screen
10. After some time (10min) PDA should finish and do a restart-it usualy stuck on 0% and 85%, but dont panic and wait, it sould continue!!
11. Enjoy new ROM!
That is it for now. I hope it will help, if I found out something I will edit the post, and at the end:
YOU CAN DO THIS ON YOUR OWN RESPONSABILITY;DO NOT CONSIDER ME RESPOSIBLE IF SOMETHING GOES WRONG.
Do as I do- read as many posts as you can considering flash and upgrade!!!
If someone want to add oppinion or suggestion (or just link to mentioned software) it will be great of course!
Also, if admin have a better idea (maybe to edit and stick post somewhere) it will be the best solution!!
Some solution from wiki:
If during an upgrade your Prophet fails to start properly or can only enter bootloader!
Hard reset

Noob Question Need Help

Please dont get mad i looked every where to see if this had already been posted. When i run Hard-SPL I keep geting to 260 error it starts just fine asks me if i will grant access to the application which i do and it starts to do its thing but then halts and i get the 260 error and it dose not go any farther any suggestions?
did you remove your sim and sd card?
In addition, if you have not removed them back up your data. Then do a hard reset. Then remove sim and sd card. It maybe an open port problem so restart your computer as well. Hope this helps.
tried
Gave that a try after it asks if it is alright to load the file on my phone it auto resets phone then 260 error happening again im on vista 64 bit and even tried what the main website said for vista users but half the guide dose not really apply so im not sure what to do or what im doing wrong. any more suggestions?
Need Help
Anyone that has been able to run HardSPL on a vista 64bit system please point me in the right direction I really want to set up my custom roms on my phone that I have found! Please help!!!!!!!!
sorry i couldn't help you i always thought a 260 error was due to open connections or ports.
When you downloaded the zip file for hardspl did you use vista's unzip?
If so you may get an error because vistas unzip program sucks ass and you need to use another application to unzip the hardspl software.

Did you go through the connection settings in the mobile device manager and disable usb connections?
Are you using vista..sometimes it doesnt look for a new set of drivers for the Phone when its in tri color mode..try rebooting and leaving the phone in tri color mode...once you do that, start from scratch after it gets all the drivers installed
This advice is thanks to tochill. Try this and see if it works. Vista often does not automatically load the drivers. I used Vista 64 to flash without a problem. It was a little tricky to get it to load the drivers at first but after they are loaded you should be fine. If it doesn't work let me know and I will see if I can find the drivers for it.
Also make sure you have the most updated version of Windows mobile device center.
not sure what to do
When am I suppose to disable usb connections of the phone in WMDC ? and also I used winrar to extract the folder. also the phone auto reboots after it is promted to allow the program to launch to install hardspl and then I get the same 260 error again any more suggestions? Im sorry for all the trouble here I just really want to get this to work. everyone said it was easier to mod tilts but it seems to be harder then my iphone lol
update ur drivers if ur using vista
for me vista was a pain to flash so i just use my desktop which is xp and its happy flashing for me all the way...piece of cake now after u do it a few times

Before you connect your phone.
You don't need to do any of that. What you need to do is DL the USB driver from A/S & associate it with you device in WMDC. There are several good threads on doing it. Start Here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=291723
Even tried xp
I have even tried using XP I still get the same outcome my phone auto restarts after I tell it to run the program. What am I doing wrong? I am suppose to run the main file off of my PC not the phone correct? and just go trough the setup?
Can some one tell me how they did it step by step because I have followed the instructions on the HARDSPL main thread and it dose not work. And so I am correct this will work with the new ATT Tilt right?
tried all of that still dose not work any other vista run arounds? God i wish i still had my xp discs
Please feel free to message me on aim username is kl3pto really could use some help.

Thanks that was a thread I was looking for to post to the OP as the next step. I have had to reinstall vista 5 times and each 5 times had to do something different to get it to work.
NP, I also suggest with Vista, you flash HardSPL via Jump. Don't flash ROM's or Radios with JumpSPL, but with the 1.93 SPL, I have tons more success using the Flash HardSPL method than the .exe

Hi there,
I would suggest you go hunt around in the forum as your queries has been repeated.
Maybe you would like to try these few steps. (Must have ActiveSync installed)
1. Search in this forum for roms (WM 6.0, WM 6.1, WM 6.5)
2. Download SOFTSPL (search in this forum)
3. Extract the files and put it to root of your phone (next to windows folder)
4. Run SPL.ink from your prophet (Using File Explorer)
5. Screen should turn white
6. Extract the files from the ROM package you downloaded at Step 1.
7. Run ROM update file.
8. Once done, phone will reboot and viola ~
9. A new OS is running in your prophet
Hi Sunset,
I have roamed around the other post also , but not be able to understand.
your 1st step : u r talking about the wm6 download (exe)
2nd step: what is SOFTSPL (need to download 1st in phone)
3rd: which root folder u r talking about
4th: where i can find the SPL.ink
6th: need to run the exe from i have downloaded in phn at step 1?
7th where i will find the ROM updated file
sorry , I dont have any idea of these things, Pls explain me it would be better for me and post a link for step1 and 2
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=405384
the thread explains it quite well
The Wiki is your guide
Always try the wiki first and read two three times what the methods say and follow slowly that should help you on most of the things mate.
That still fails for Imate Jammin G3
I tried those steps for Imate Jammin G3
After the screen turns white, i run the G3 UPDATEEXE from the computer.
It fails as it couldnt connect.
When i remove and plug back the usb cable from the phone i hear the sound - which indicates the connecitivity.
I have to do soft reset to start the Windows Mobile again
Note : i am trying to Upgrade WM 5.0 to WM 6.1

[Q] Trying to root 2.3.3 but cant find a simple tutorial.

I looked in android developement (rooting, FAQ,..etc) thread and was sure I was on the right track until it said that "easy root for linyx and mac" and "super 1 Click" would not work for 2.3.3. Now I am confused as to where to start. I read that you should download Clockwork mod and it said download a gingerbread rom, but I am confused because I thought the version 2.3.3 that I have is in fact gingerbread. Isn't there an easy tutorial for 2.3.3 users? Right now my phone is just unlocked and that's it. Can someone point me in the right direction? I don't know what all the rooting terms mean so please be clear. Thanks

Ok, I appreciate the response however, I have questions:
1) I don't get it....the second link you posted says you don't need to use Rom Manager but also suggests you go read the first link you posted which says you need to use Rom Manager. These directions are all over the place.
2) Will all of this rooting be taking place on my PC...I have windows XP
3) It says install Rom Manager to your O/S. What is an O/S and what is Rom Manager.
It would be nice if all of these links and directions were on one page and didn't bring you to more links that bring you to more links that bring you to more directions that bring you to more links.

1) No it doesn't, dont use ROM manager at all. What I think you're confusing it with is Clockwork Recovery, thats what's being flashed from your computer so you can change into better roms.
2) Yes, you use the one click root and you'll see your phone running code and then it'll be done, and you use Clockwork Recovery to flash roms.
3) Wrong for both, and look up what an OS is, some questions are so simple that you should use Google instead. Its an Operating System, and if you dont know what that is, Google is your friend.

Before i attempt this let me just say that i found a gingerbreak youtube video which is called(gingerbreak one click ROOT ANY Gingerbread 2.3.3 Android device) that seems a lot simpler. You simply download an app and it does the rest for you. Have you heard of this? Id like to do it this way so i dont screw anything up but will i be getting the same benefits?

If what we posted is to complicated then rooting is not for you. Just Saying.
agreed, gingerbreak might do the trick but regardless if you do not use the method "King" posted then you are gonna regret it all, and be very frustrated and freak out and make crazy posts! You need to flash ClockWork Recovery in order to switch roms everything else is not proper and only a temporary work around! here is a step by step video just watch it all the way through put the files in a place that easy for you to figure out and then do the process. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qUT5JcnJHgk
Ok so let me get this straight. Im gonna do what youve suggested.
1)So im basically downloading two things to my computer : (1 click root) and after that, (clockwork mod)? Is that what you giys are saying?
2)will windows xp work to do this?
yes I still use Windows XP.

ok I've downloaded the file and extracted the the APX and NVFlash folders. I see both folders chilling there. At this point I'm confused because the directions from that second link you gave me says to "install the APX windows driver from the APX folder. Again I have the APX folder and the NVFlash folders in plain siight and when I click on the APX folder, none of the files in there start doing anything....what am I looking for in the APX folder? I see a setup file labeled "NVIDIA" but when I right click it and click install, nothing happens.
Trust me, follow the instructions to flash ClockworkMod Recovery, etc... and you won't ever look back. An hour or two or careful research and following directions will lead to a (phone's) lifetime of enjoyment
the files aren't gonna magically open them selves and start doing everything for you lol, read the directions, or watch the video I linked...

From one of the links already posted.
(Windows x86 and x64 O/S Drivers):
****If you are running VmWare kill it.****
1 Remove the battery.
2 Plug in your USB cable to your PC.
3 Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down.
4 Plug in the USB cable to your phone. (Keep the buttons held until Windows detects a new APX device.)
5 Open Device Manager in Windows and you should see "APX Device" listed with an error icon.
6 Right click on the APX device.
7 Select 'Update driver software'.
8 Select 'Browse my computer...'.
9 Select 'Let me pick...'.
10 Select 'Have disk'.
11 Browse to directory you extracted the *driver* software to: One-Click-G2x-recovery-flasher-09-23\APX.
12 Accept any warnings, including the big red alert (you may need to disable UAC).
13 Now in Device Manager under 'USB Controllers' you should have an 'NVIDIA USB Boot-recovery driver for mobile devices'.
14 If not, uninstall the driver, reboot, rinse and repeat.

Yes thank you. This is where I'm stuck because right above all these directions it say, "Install APX driver from APX folder" not sure how to do this before I begin all these directions. How do I open device manager on Windows XP on step 5?
Ok I'm done with those directions now. Thank you. Now I'm stuck on ClockModRecovery.
Flash ClockworkMod Recovery
1.Remove the battery.
2.Goto NvFlash directory and Double Click "OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe".
3.Make sure the USB cable is unplugged from your phone.
4.Hold Volume Up and Volume Down at the same time keeping them held down. (Keep them held until you see the "S/W Upgrade" screen on your phone after you complete step7!).
5.Plug in the USB cable to your phone.
6.Click the "Flash CWM" button of your choosing. If you own a External SD card I suggest to choose version 5.0.2.0. This gives you Internal and External SD Support for ROM flashing but has External SD Nandroid Backup Support Only! If you do not own a External SD Card choose version 4.0.1.5 what has full Internal SD support for flashing ROMS and Nandroid backup.
7.You should see it send a bunch of files to the device and the phone screen should say "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...". Once the files are sent and the program is finished running in the command window, you can just pull the USB cord while it still says "S/W Upgrade - Please wait while upgrading...".
8.Put the battery back in and you can now boot into Recovery. (see below..)
I'm stuck on number 2. I'm looking at the 2 folders again: "APX" and "NVFlash". I clicked into NVFLASH and clicked "OneClickRecoveryFlasher.exe". It says, "the application failed to initialize properly". Click OK to terminate the application".

Make sure you've disabled antivirus because some of them will interfere. If it still won't work, try downloading it again and reinstalling...it might be a bad install
