It seems to be the music library in TF3D is missing a vital component - with 16gb cards now available it is possible to store a large number of tracks (I have > 2500). Scolling through all songs/ albums/ artists etc in the library just doesn't cut it when you have that many tracks.
What is required is something like the alphabet bar to the right of the screen in Contacts (and where you add cities in the Weather tab), so you can quickly go to tracks starting with the right letter, and then scroll from there.
Is something like this possible? If not, it seems like a silly ommission by HTC as they have implemented the same kind of thing in other areas of the phone.
Any ideas?
Seriously - no-one else has a problem with this?
Mine won't even find the tracks on the memory card let alone require the need to search through hundreds of them!
All I have are the four HTC demo ones... even tho I've got loads of tracks on the memory card, the only way I can play them is by using WMP rather than the TF3D Library
Works fine for me here.
Have HTC spanish 1.90 official ROM, and an Sandisk SD 6Gb Class4 microSD card.
I have around 250-300 files in MP3/WMA format inside SD\MY Documents\Musica and have no problem using from TF3D.
I have some files in SD\Seleccion\Ringtones in MP3/WAV/WMA format and this files appear in TF3D Music too.
I'm waiting for my new 16Gb microSD card, so probably i put thousands music files into the SD and report back here what's going.
Cheers
do you have to have album art for the tunes to show in the TF3D music app or does it have a placeholder for mp3's without album art attached?

I don't have a solution to this problem, but I got the problem as well...
Right, so this thread seems to have moved on to people who can't get the TF3D player to recognise their music. There are plently of other threads about that - please check them out.
I have no problems using the player whatsoever - all 2500+ tracks are showing in TF3D, and I even got all the album art sorted out. If I only had a couple of hundred tracks there would be no issue at all. The problem is that with so many tracks TF3D is a pain to navigate through - if you want to find a track that starts with the letter Z it takes forever to scroll to it in the library.
I was hoping some enterprising soul with a bit of programming knowledge could develop something similar to the alphabet bar in Contacts (and where you add cities in the Weather tab), so you can quickly get close to where you want to be, and then scroll from there.
Does that make sense? Anyone know whether that might be possible?

Sorry, I think you're just not understanding what I'm saying. I have no problem at all with files and album art etc being recognised by the AudioManager. The problem I have is that when there are thousands of tracks, then navigating through them is a right pain, and I was hoping someone could come up with a better way of doing it.

I have been wondering this as well. I know that HTC produced the Random Access addon for Contacts. Does anyone know - or anyone able - to see if this could be made available for the audio manager?
Yes, I'm frustrated by this too. It would be nice to have the music in the tab, but it would be better to have a great little media player. Any reccomendations?
ya im frustrated by it too. i basically just use that tf3d player for random/shuffle playing.
if i want a specific song ill just navigate to it through file explorer.
kind of a PIA but oh well. maybe they will update it later on.
Audio manager long list issue
I am having same issue. With about 400 albums in my music audio manager there seems no way to scroll thru the list quickly. Hope someone tries and comes up with some kind of solution.
I'm using the HD Video converter v1.21 to convert video files to play on an HD2... I realize these are MP4 files and need the hardware acceleration of the built in HTC Album player....
Thing is when the album finds them it just gives a shot of the opening frame of the movie as a picture... is there anyway to make it display the name too or instead off?
Its a pain going through every clip to find the one you want...

I absolutely second that, but as far as I know it is not possible to modify the album so that it shows embedded Information or the filename. Sorry mate. Maybe you better use RescoExplorer or something to select your Videos. MP4s should then be opened with the build-in Player out of the box (of course only if you havent associated mp4-files with any other videoplayer).
Greets
Thanks for the pointer - I will try Resco. thanks again

One more tip:
- Open RescoExplorer
- tap and hold your videofolder
- Choose "send to" --> "startmenu as shortcut"
- Now you are able to put your videofolder directly on a quicklink on your homescreen
- Furthermore you can enable the preview-/thumbnail-option in RescoExplorer so you can see a thumbnnail and VideoInformation
Cheers
I am hoping someone can help me figure this out. I enjoy watching music videos from my music videos folder but my problem is that after each video it goes back to the list. I'd like some way to have all the videos play continuously or shuffled. Does anyone know how to make this happen? If this isn't a feature can it be added? I've looked at all the settings and not sure if something is busted.
I'm sure this is a setting, let me go through the settings real quick...
Settings>Player>Back to list
Uncheck that box (which was already the case for me) and it'll continue playing all videos in the list.

When playing a video: Menu -> Play -> Shuffle
Try that.
I noticed that MX Player remembers which track was played last, but what about remembering which audio/video track was played last in each folder? That would be a great feature!

Amazing. That's it!
This feature is great but is it possible to also jump in the tracks list to that position? When I select the last media for a specific folder it plays that track but when I get back to the list, it shows tracks from the top instead of the selected track. With a list of dozens of tracks a lot of finger work is necessary to get down to the current track
Pressing twice to go back to the track list in unnecessary. One is enough.
Thanks!
Can't you use that Play button that shows up at the top of the list, and it would play the last file in the current folder?

You have misunderstood.
It's already implemented.
But,There is no new buttons. Only Resume button functionality has been changed. If you are in root of folder list where resume button will resume the last played media. But, If you are inside a folder, then it will resume the last played video in that particular folder.
Note:
Usually Resume button will be in the top right side above the list. On some lower end devices it can be accessed by pressing options/menu hardware button.

Thanks, but there is a lot of misunderstanding here. I know I can resume the last played track on every folder, but the track list is not updated with the position of that track. It still shows the first track on top.
As an example, if the track being played is the 100th, when I go the track list, it shows the list from the begining instead of showing the position where track 100 is.

What do you mean by track list?
Are you talking about video list?
By default Video list will be always showed in alphabetical order. It won't directly scroll down to show the last played video. It's just a video library.
Right now there is no playlist like options to list the videos in que. If it's implemented, it has to be auto scrolled to the last played file in the que when the playlist is resumed.
@bleu8888
Take a look at this feature request.
> " It won't directly scroll down to show the last played video."
This is what he's requesting; he's asking if when a folder is opened, that the folder could auto-scroll to what MX remembers was the last video played in the folder, instead of defaulting the folder view to the first entry.

You can use 'play last video' button on the menu bar.
Also you can check video file name by long clicking this button.
I did not know about the long-click part.

Thanks but my problem still remains. The track/video list doesn't jump to the position of the file currently being played. It still shows first track/video at the top. Every player that I know of shows current track in the list.

....open in editor mode? The wife’s is the same and the only way open videos so that you have the usual controls is to click the three dots on the bottom right and chose open in video player.
I’m sure it only happened since the last update. If i need to use the editor I will switch to it but that is rear. Can it be forced to open in player at the start?
Best regards,
Considering there are no replies at all, I may not have explained the problem properly.
When I click to open a video, it opens as the first picture. I then have to click the 3 dots on the bottom right to open it in video player (picture 2), that takes me to picture 3. I never before had to go through these steps before, it always used to open in the video player first. Am I the only one with this problem?
Hope someone can help.

I'm trying to understand, why you opening videos via Gallery app.
(i presume it's via Gallery app)
Have you got the Samsung Video Library app also installed.
You have to, to view videos directly.!
Link...
Samsung Video Library - Apps on Google Play
You can browse and play video content.
play.google.com
All you do is, open video directly from this app. Even hover S pen over video to get preview video.
See screenshots
Good luck.

The reason for that is because I always opened it from galley and it had, till recently, opened in video player, which is Samsung Video Library. Also, if you have any videos in the secure folder, you have no choice of opening it in video player unless you go through the extra clicks. That is the reason for looking somehow to force videos to open in Samsung Video Library from gallery as it used to do. Hope that makes sense.
Thank you to taking time to answer.

Thanks for explaining. I understand.
For me the Samsung Gallery app (video)
is now intended (actually been, quite some time now) if you either want to edit a video or set a video as Lockscreen wall.
Bottom line,
as i see it Samsung does not actually see Gallery app, as video player, as such....anymore.!
Only linking it (hiding) access in Gallery app settings.
So your choice is,
either use the Samsung Video library or bear the extra taps.!
Good luck.
