Hey Folks,
this morning I started running / jogging once again
What I need now, is a software for my HD2, which will record my tracks as also it will calculate the running-distance.
I've tried to use the GPS-Tab for Sense - but it stops when putting the HD2 in standby.
So what I mean now, is a program which will record my tracks (for google maps?) as also the running distance (mandytory!) and which will work also if the HD2 is in standby with screen off.
(Should work while listening to music with sense)
Freeware would also be cool - if not freeware, it should have a test period.
Thanks in advance!!

What we need is a simple program that turns the screen off and that could be activated by a longpress send... So instead of putting the device in standby we need a soft-thingy that switches the screen brightness to 0 so to speak, like in a music player.
BTW I use OziExplorer and oziexplorer does have a embedded menu-command to switch the screen off. Unfortunately I can't set it to a hard button. But maybe it works for you.
http://www.rungps.net/
http://www.rungps.net/ is best, i am using it for years, you can also upload your trainings to portal. Best feature is that it can tell you parameters like speed or distance with voice.
Try This
Not sure if it suits your needs.
You need this mate.
Personally I think SportyPal is the best workout GPS software but try a few for yourself, the app above will do what you need with any of them.
I've tried sporty-pal and also rungps...
For me rungps is suitable and working perfect!
Thanks a lot!!
Have you tried GPSed.
I used it when i go mountian biking, and your friends and family can track your global position in real time.
It is awsome.
hope this helps

Hi!
I'm in the market for a phone, I like the HTC ones. I would like to do the following with it at the minimum:
GPS nav via bluetooth & playing mp3's in the background at the same time.
Be WM5 at least
The rest I think all pocket pc's will do (like syncing with outlook etc)
But the main thing is are the HTC wizards powerful enough to do the GPS + Music at the same time without hiccups? If not, are the Hermes?
(this is going to get use in the car if you haven't guessed ;-) )
Thanks!

trinity c

But I've not mentioned.... price is a factor... and that phone is $500+!

Hi,
Great site, very helpful. I dont post much but I find all the support here awesome!
I did a search, couple hours at that, and can't really find any answers to it. Not sure if anyone can help.
1) I have wm6, at&t tilt, stock rom. I want to have the screensaver slideshow play on idle while on battery and when pluggged in. WM has a built in screensaver slideshow that works, but it only plays while plugged in and not while on battery. is there a reg edit to make it play on battery?
2) There is a program dockware, this works great, works on battery and ac, BUT it doesnt play while the device is locked. When device locked, the only thing that shows is the date function of the program. When i unlock the phone, then it starts playing the slideshow.
Is there a way to make dockware play while it is locked? or is there a way to make the built in WM screensaver play while on battery?
I do not understand your question exactly. I think by the first step, you need to make sure the format of the screensaver. And then search the question on google, maybe you will find the best solution for it.
WM6 has a built in screensaver mode that comes on if you are idle for 2 minutes AND attached to the computer. Basically I want to figure out a way to set it so the screensaver comes on while on battery and not just when it's plugged in.

Try this.. When installed, it's found in the Today items. You can set it to play a slide show of all your pics in your directory, set the size of the pics on the Today screen, and set the length of time pics change.
Enjoy!
thanks! i tried that. not really what i was lookin for. I want it to be like a screensaver to play on idle or play automatically on a command.
the today slideshow plugin is pretty neat though, but not for my needs. there is a slideshow app in that PHM program. anyway to set it to play the slideshow automatically instead of only playing after you press OK?

DockWare doesn't appear to work properly with the key-lock that is built into WM5 and WM6. (This is not the same as the security lock that requires a password to use your PDA.) I've reported this to our developers so they can take a look at it!
Just a note about running screensavers while on battery... DockWare can't do this because it requires that your Pocket PC or Smartphone stay fully awake to display the images. Windows Mobile devices aren't really meant to stay completely awake all of the time, as it will quickly run the battery down. This is probably the reason the Pictures and Videos application only displays its slide show while your PDA is charging, as well.
You may not find any programs that will let your phone display a slideshow on the screen while it is locked, but it's possible that something out there will let you do this; it just might drain your battery very quickly!

thanks for the reply! helpful. i am aware of battery usage, but that is the price you pay for using such devices and I am not afraid of it. I can always just recharge the battery, haha it isnt a problem. we cant always be afraid of battery usage or else we miss out on great apps and features! =) it just would be good to have the option.
sorry for this post, 10 char
Is there any FREE utility that changes volume (system & ringer) based on time schedule that works on WM6.1?
Please do not advise Phone Weaver and paid utilities like this that have many functions.
Please advise.
Maybe is there someone who can create this simple utility.
Maybe you can use this
http://www.sto-helit.de/index.php?module=page&entry=ms_overview&action=view&menu=29
It's free.
Resignation :-(
I've resigned and bought SBSH Phone Weaver.
It is working on my Touch Pro if I do not let PW to select sounds, but only volume, which is enough for now.
I've set right SW key on the "home" screen as a PW's menu which works.
SBSH has 30% discount for forum users, who I am, so the price is about $12 which is acceptable.
Just for info, I've tried this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=425627
Profiles
http://www.4shared.com/file/32880079/a2547370/Profiles.html
Which add profiles to the settings. Looks perfect - sound/volume settings based on time, but unfortunately this version causes crashes on my device every time I set something, so :-(
Well maybe is there someone who is able to change "something" in the profiles CAB so that this piece of great software starts working on HTC Touch/Pro.
Take a look at commmgrpro. Fully compatible with HTC Touch Pro

Looks good. Unfortunately, I've just bought PW which works.
Well, but great tip for others!
I am looking for a free GPS program for my FUZE that will just simply track distance and possibly speed. I currently have a stock ATT ROM and am not opposed to a new ROM, just haven't quite got to that comfort level yet. Yes, I am a newbie and have only installed about 6 cabs. My GPS seems to be working fine with google maps.

I think the (type of) app you're after is usualy refered to as a tracer. IE, it traces your route.. and logs it to a file. Some you can load into a map app and "play it back."
Googling that term should net you some results.
Thanks Alex i will try that.
Try BeelineGPS. It records the track and it can be exported as well to csv/gpx/kml file. Even it seems to be a 30day trial,it is working also after trial without limitations. Its freeware. I use it for geocaching all the time successful.
GPS today should be able to log it (I've used the logging feature.)
Its a total battery hog. Also, background GPS logging means the device has to be powered on, screen on. You'll need a screen lock. And about 10 extra batteries
Use TrackMe - works very well, creates a KML file you can view on Google Earth.
Don't think it calculates total distance, but it does show speed.
GPS Cycle Computer found on Diamond forum is also very good. It has an option to turn off the screen and keep logging.
But expect the battery to last no more than 3 hours.
Garmin XT will save a file in their standard format (plenty of online sources and directly to Google maps for manipulation/presentation) is a free download from the Garmin site.
Has anybody tried this app which has just been released on Android?
I have just installed this myself and i am impressed with the functionality of it.
However, whilst watching tv (9.00pm) i was interrupted by a nice female voice reading a weather forcast from my Android phone, very thoughtful but was not what i required at that moment in time. Perhaps i have missed a trick here but i could not find a setting to disable this function!
Can anybody advise?
I believe the setting for this is Weather Narrator which is On by default. Go to Travel Notifications Weather Narration an switch it Off.
Thanks for point it out. I use to have this program on every windows mobile phone I had.
Your right! Thanks for your trouble.
