Hi!
I'm in the market for a phone, I like the HTC ones. I would like to do the following with it at the minimum:
GPS nav via bluetooth & playing mp3's in the background at the same time.
Be WM5 at least
The rest I think all pocket pc's will do (like syncing with outlook etc)
But the main thing is are the HTC wizards powerful enough to do the GPS + Music at the same time without hiccups? If not, are the Hermes?
(this is going to get use in the car if you haven't guessed ;-) )
Thanks!

trinity c
thanks! I really , *really* like the trinity. It would be ideal
But I've not mentioned.... price is a factor... and that phone is $500+!

Anyone with a wizard tell me if GPS + mp3 is possible?
-Thanks

Hi people,
I've had a search in this and some other forums (fora?) as well as google, but can't find what I'm looking for. This makes me think that it doesn't exist...
I have my PC connected to my TV and acts as a HD-movie server as well as a general music entertainment system. I'm a bit fed up having to grab for the wireless keyboard and mouse every time I want to do something on the computer.
I was wondering if anyone knows of a program that allows me to use my polaris as a sort of track-pad and keyboard for my PC (via bluetooth, wifi, or whatever).
Could you fool the PC into thinking you'd connected a bluetooth keyboard and mouse?
Also - i'd like to be able to assign simple functions like fast-forward, rewind & pause functionality to the polaris. It would make a really cool all-in-one remote.
So - has anyone ever heard of a program to do either of these?
Do you think it would even be feasible?
Hello
this will do the track pad, and remote control functions but i dont think that it does a keyboard bit
http://jaylee.org/remotecontrol/
It does most and is a pretty solid program with some nice features too
wow, that was quick reply!
Nice one. I'll try it when I get home!
Thanks very much
Salling clicker
hi - just an update...
I tried RemoteControl, but couldn't get it to work. My polaris can see the PC using the program, but when i select it as a server and click "ok", it doesn't connect to remote control server on the PC. The forum on the developer's website looks really quite dead - so not much help there.... oh well.
Also - it sometimes locks me out of my phone when the backlight and screen turns off (pressing the powerbutton doesn't even bring it back on) and I have to press the reset button.
I'll give Salling Clicker free trial a go. Thanks for the info.
on a related note, have a look at this iPhone version "touchpad pro" its EXACTLY what i want, but you need a hacked iPhone. Grrrrrrr.
http://www.touchpadpro.com/2008/03/introducing-touchpad-pro.html
I'll post back with results of Salling Clicker.
Just tried Salling Clicker with my laptop at work.
Absolutely, unbelievably, awesome!
Easy to set up and get working.
What's more, I can use it with WiFi and free up my bluetooth dongle.
Almost perfect. It doesn't have keyboard support, but its a good enough for now.
I'm off to buy a copy.
thanks for the heads-up Redman77
As far as i know Sideshow's gonna have options for remote control using some kind of Microsoft receiver software. might come in handy if you wanna control your computer completely. You would be able to use your touchscreen just like a laptop's mousepad... which should be very cool..
Like, one question I have is - is it possible to alter the TouchFLO at all? Such as... not having "Call History" on the front screen. Or having more than just 2 appointments listed?
Second, how is the mod scene on this? I know it's Windows Mobile, so the mod scene for that is pretty big. Can I load, like, Quake on this one? Or those crazy cool RPGs? Any thing for, like, battery extending or something? I mean I don't want to uninstall TouchFlo for a custom firmware, it's way too sexy.
Any other kinds of tips any of you guys can provide? Know a good pair of Bluetooth (stereo) headphones I can pair up with these? Are there any Bluetooth adaptors where I could connect it to my car's radio and listen to my songs in the car?
Is the screen tough and durable?
Whats the biggest MicroSD card it can carry? And how cheap is it?
I have until, what, the end of October to prepare for this phone. I'm looking to hit the ground running. I'm pysched. Thanks!!
EDIT: Hello? Anyone?
I just switched from the magic to the x10 and was wondering if CoPilot works without problems on the x10.
Thank you.
Well I get my X10 tomorrow and I have Copilot on my HTC Hero at the mo so will let you know how it goes getting it onto the X10. Hopefully it will work!!!
I am running the latest Copilot on my x10. Works wihtout any problems.
thanks for the reply

I too am running Copilot on my X10 and have no issues.
For CoPilot users:
1) what hapens with the navigation, if you make a phone call during navigation? Does navigation continue or stop / pause (like Navigon does)?
2) whats your opinion about the quality of CoPilot 8? I have used CoPilot 7 on PPC and it was terrrible (asked me to turn right on a 20 m high bridge to get on a street crossing under the bridge, asked me to turn left on a 4-Lane road etc - it was probably the suicide-edition...).
Regard,
Rudi
my experience with copilot is very good.... no issues with directions..
the text to speech is ok... its more informative than using the voices.
for me...
Pros.
big icons.
speed cameras.
text to speech.
lots of features.. like detour
fuel estimation.
live traffic (not bought that yet)
distance to speed cam.
over speed warning
cons.
you pay £25 for prog& maps and £20 for live traffic ect
voice recognition greyed out).
makes my x10 get quite hot.
i dont recommend NDrive. wanted to send me the wrong way up the motorway... so thats a fail, thankfull i knew the way and it got confused when i drove up the correct route... then it crashed... suppose it wanted me to crash.. hehe.
Hey Folks,
this morning I started running / jogging once again
What I need now, is a software for my HD2, which will record my tracks as also it will calculate the running-distance.
I've tried to use the GPS-Tab for Sense - but it stops when putting the HD2 in standby.
So what I mean now, is a program which will record my tracks (for google maps?) as also the running distance (mandytory!) and which will work also if the HD2 is in standby with screen off.
(Should work while listening to music with sense)
Freeware would also be cool - if not freeware, it should have a test period.
Thanks in advance!!

What we need is a simple program that turns the screen off and that could be activated by a longpress send... So instead of putting the device in standby we need a soft-thingy that switches the screen brightness to 0 so to speak, like in a music player.
BTW I use OziExplorer and oziexplorer does have a embedded menu-command to switch the screen off. Unfortunately I can't set it to a hard button. But maybe it works for you.
http://www.rungps.net/
http://www.rungps.net/ is best, i am using it for years, you can also upload your trainings to portal. Best feature is that it can tell you parameters like speed or distance with voice.
Try This
Not sure if it suits your needs.
You need this mate.
Personally I think SportyPal is the best workout GPS software but try a few for yourself, the app above will do what you need with any of them.
I've tried sporty-pal and also rungps...
For me rungps is suitable and working perfect!
Thanks a lot!!
Have you tried GPSed.
I used it when i go mountian biking, and your friends and family can track your global position in real time.
It is awsome.
hope this helps

Turn your HD2 into walkie talkie with Loudtalks.
Loudtalks is a push-to-talk application for Windows and Windows phones. It's lightweight, easy to use and extremely fast. Better yet it's free and will always remain free for personal use.
Features:
Fast - Loudtalks conversations are nearly as fast as face-to-face and possibly the fastest way to communicate online.
Easy to use - To start talking you just push F7. It works even when the application is minimized.
One to many - With Loudtalks you can voice message two, three or even a hundred people simultaneously.
Voice history - Re-play your conversations when you want from the voice history.
Lightweight - We hate bloated software. Loudtalks setup for Windows is under 2 Mb and the program takes up little system resources and memory
Automatic - In the most cases you don't have to configure anything to start using Loudtalks
Loud - Unlike traditional VoIP applications you don't have to use a headset with Loudtalks. Just plug-in a microphone (or use a built-in one) and play the sound via speakers. That's much more convenient.
Portable - When installed on USB thumbdrive Loudtalks will recognize that and will work in portable mode leaving no trace on host computers.
Mobile - Use Loudtalks for Windows Mobile to turn your handheld into two-way radio!
Multilingual - Loudtalks has been translated to 11 languages. More translations will be added over time.
3G and EDGE compatible - Loudtalks works great over WiFi and 3G, and even could be used on GPRS and EDGE.

Pretty much what I was thinking, this app is amazing.
Wonder what the battery usage is on it. Anyone know if it's a bat killer? I just got it. Also, anyone try this for gaming yet?

ive been using this app since its first public release. it is a major battery killer concidering it is in a constant send/recieve mode. overall this app is cool but you should use it while the charger is plugged in.
cool app works good (not nextel) battery killer though
I have been using this app for several days on touch pro 2 it works good as long as you dont go to "options" in menue and try to change anything in "control' the phone crashes and battery needs to be removed. However it works great if you dont mess with control in menue options
And there is a new version uploaded on loudtalks.com a while ago. Version 0.9.0.77 is the actually one (see my signature)
