What has been your experience with these? How does one compare to the other in terms of memory usage, battery life, and user experience? Which do you prefer and why?

Launcher Pro wins....just no sense widgets while using
Launcher Pro used less memory by about 0.5MB, I get a little bit better battery out of it with heavy usage (extra hour), the homescreen and app drawer will turn and adjust in landscape, also you can set programs up like the action buttons from froyo since it is included with the launcher. Just remember though the sense widgets will not work while using the launcher so you will have to download third party ones such as beautiful widget if you really still want the weather/clock widget. If know were to look you can find older versions for free so your not paying for something you already have stock with sense. Also follow the link threads and get the 4G widget from rdude (remember to donate since it is useful) so you can still have this toggle on your homescreen like you would be able to in sense.
I switched to Launcher Pro and am not looking back. Battery life is way better but i suspect its because i am not loading any of those heavy Sense widgets like email, friendstream, etc.
Try Fancy Widget instead of Beautiful Widgets. Fancy widget is free and looks *just* like the sense digital clock.
Beside battery life, Launcher Pro is more customizable especially with latest updates (scrolling dock bar, moveable App Drawer button, etc)

I just discovered that I can have 5 rows of icons in LauncherPro. **** Sense.

I've been using LauncherPro almost since the first version was released, when I was using a Sprint Hero. It just keeps getting better and better with every upgrade. I haven't looked at the Sense UI on my phone in at least a week. And that was just because I was comparing the flip clock/weather widget from Fancy Widgets with the HTC flip clock/weather widget, to see the differences. They are almost identical, pixel for pixel.
Also, to get more of a sense ui feel out of the launcher, you can set up 7 home screens, and download smooth calendar from the market. It looks very similar to the 1 x 4 calendar widget from HTC.
One of my favorite features of the launcherpro is the 3d app drawer. Also, the row of icons at the bottom, that you can configure however you want.
And it's nice with the huge screen, to have 5 rows of icons on the home pages. I turned off auto-orientation, as 5 rows of icons looks like crap in landscape.

Does anybody have issues with the wallpaper not changing after changing it inside of Launcher Pro? I have to go into Sense UI change it there, then go back into Launcher Pro and change it there. For some reason it wants to default to the HTC default wallpaper. The one with the out of focus different colored circles. Has anybody had this issue? If so how did you fix it?
I prefer ADW.Launcher. More customizable than Launcher Pro. You can set the screens as up to 8x8, choose widget sizes, etc.
BTW is there a link to that 'warp speed' star wallpaper?

I tried ADW but kept getting FC every ten minutes or so so I ditched it.
For those of you running custom ROMs, do you "ban" Sense while using LP or just set it as default?

The ONLY thing I really miss about sense is the weather animations (i don't know why...). Otherwise, LP has been a perfect replacement for me

First time I tried it a few weeks ago it would FC on my every 30 seconds. Completely unusable. Then went to LP, eventually same thing started happening. Ran ADW for at least two weeks now with no force closes.

i just installed launcher pro plus but i noticed that all the widgets cannot be used with it....
what are you guys using?
I'm probably going to stick with stock. I'll make it look nice and neat using Beautiful Widgets or w/e it's called.
I think the Sense widgets are just much nicer (I use the Weather/Clock, Photo Album, Friendstream, Bookmarks, and News), and much more polished than the LauncherPro Plus widgets. Also, the text in the launcher pro widgets are very small and difficult to read for me. The only widget in LauncherPro Plus I like better is the messaging scrolling one. I wish the Sense one had the contact pictures.

I actually like them, it's always bugged me that the app icons are not symmetrical. I'm sure I'm in the minority on that but I like that about the MyTouch (BTW, I don't actually have a MyTouch, just running the ROM on a Nexus One in the past, just recently switched back to Desire port, needed a working camera, may actually get the MyTouch soon)

I am using launcher pro. I actually just bought the paid version for the extra widgets. I like it a lot. The only thing I wish it had would be the Vibrant style app drawer.
I had to get away from having the stock myFavs on the dock. Other wise the stock is ok. The stock widgets are nice but now I have widgets with paying only $3 for launcher pro.

I wouldn't use launcher pro personally because mysense was one of the thing I really liked about this phone that got me to choose other over the g2 and th vibrant. Thanks! I found it. I just remembered I can do it in ADW as well, just never felt like I needed to until I saw these.
Once more, thank you!
I like the Sense UI too but have the feeling that it is slower than launcher pro and drains faster my battery. If I open an application with launcher pro it opens immediately. If I use the Sense UI there is a short delay before the application screen is visible, mostly it is a white background with nothing on it.
Sense is sluggish to me also, not as bad as the evo, but still.

When you are on a home screen and long press on a widget, you now see more options than before including shortcuts to the Application info and Market pages for the app. You can also quickly set up custom shortcuts using ADW’s menus rather than the standard Android process.
New app drawer functions on long press:
These new app drawer functions are probably the most impressive. You can now long press on apps from within the drawer to see a variety of options, giving you more control over the look and feel. You can also add folders directly in, plus a bunch of other shortcuts. After playing with the new app drawer for 30 seconds, you see how amazing these new tweaks will be once this thing gets fine-tuned and is ready for release.

many people like Adw but as a launcher it does not have anything special. Lets say similar to Go launcher.
Adw has only cosmetic things. None of them are usefull very much.

I disagree with that statement..
second Hidden dock
adjustable column rows
drag and drop apps to the dockbar
probably more that i can't think of on the top of my head..
and to whoever said something about the dockbar background.. if you purchase ADW Ex it offers that feature to easily switch out the dockbar bg :x
Go Launcher is good don't get me wrong, (currently using it) just that only reason I'm not on ADW is cause my theme just works too well to not have the ability to have a looping theme.
with Go launcher:
* you can kill applications
* you can hide icons
* you can uninstall
* you can create folders
* it has built-in task manager
* it has built-in recent
from straight app-drawer.
Adw has none of these. But it has many dock backgrounds, themes, fancy colors...etc.
You decide?

With froyo .. you don't need to KILL any applications..
you can hide icons in ADW by creating categories.. and you don't need to go to a menu to make them show when you "hide" them..
you can uninstall apps from adw by holding them to the trashcan..
you can't have folders in the app drawer in adw but like i said before.. categories..
You can always access recent apps by holding the home button.. which I have always done.
As I've said.. Go Launcher is a GREAT launcher.. but don't cast out ADW that easily..

Uninstallig apps works the same way in go launcher, furthermore, you can also uninstall them directly in the drawer.
Accessing recent apps pressing the home button works as well, however, there also is a category for that in the drawer.

I use it this way: the regular dock only has one button which opens the app drawer.
When I swipe my finger up the screen, the hidden dock appears containing all the docks apps.
I like that because it prevents me from accidently starting apps.

You choose open/close dock as swipe up action and when the dock is closed you drop apps on the bottom part of the screen.

Hello,
I just got my LG G2X and I love how fast it is and it is my first android phone, however one thing I realized is that it is really plain. You know how other UIs have widgets that take up all 4x4 of the screen like Sense and even Windows that is what I would like. And especially the sense flip clock it is gorgeous, what launcher and or apps should i get to help my phone look a little less boring?
Thanks in advance1d
I use ADW ex as my launcher, it has themes you can apply to change the plain-less.
There are sense themes too.
Beautiful Widgets is also something you might wanna try. Its a clock weather widget that has several themes you can get for it and what not. I recommend buying it. There is also fancy widgets but it prefer beautiful widgets over it. But give them both a try and see if you like any of those

I use adw ex and fancy widgets for the sense-like clock
Sent From My G2x Running CM7 Nightly 70
If you are looking for the flip clock you can get an exact replica minus the animation if you can get your hands on the old Fancy widget 1.3 or 1.03. Not sure what version it was. But that was the clone of it before htc had a few words with them to make them change there design. you can get sense themes which will change the notification bar to clone the sense look. Does so quite nicely. Lastly to get what i see as perfect replicas of the htc sense widgets is to download launcher pro. Once you have that and it is set up as your default launcher, go into the market and search for launcher pro widgets. You will see many different syles of skins for the widgets that launcher pro provides. There is sense themes which look the same as the real deal and the widget itself is a full screen setup like you were wondering. I hope this helps!
Fancy Widgets is what I use for the Sense type clock. I don't use a launcher.

CM7 with steel blue theme, calwidget, and beautiful widgets
Try Launcher Pro (pay for it!) The free version doesn't allow you to use their Widgets or resize widgets.
It comes with lots of full screen widgets that you are talking about. They have a Facebook, Twitter, Email, Calendar, "Friends Stream" (which combines all facebook, twitter, SMS, emails, etc, into one), and several more.
Launcher Pro also has multiple settings for a 3D effect like ADW Launcher when you swipe between homescreens. You can download themes for the widgets (each widget can use a separate theme) and you can also theme the launcher background and icons.
It is pretty slick. Doesn't have "quite" as many options as ADW EX but it covers all the important stuff and more.
Be WARNED that the Launcher Pro widgets are addicting. I can't function without them. I tried ADW and fancy widgets before but it was a PAIN to set up all the time, plus Fancy widgets would just stop functioning and I would have to log back in, set up my options, and resync. It was a pain.
Launcher Pro, once you set up your Facebook, twitter, email account, etc access... you simply "Backup Launcher Pro". Then if you ever have to wipe your settings and start from scratch, you merely download Launcher Pro and restore settings. All the icons and widgets will automatically be setup, logged in, placed, and working.

An earlier build made it out on the forums for testing purposes only, we do not recommend anyone use this as a stable / daily driver.

I'm currently using ADW launcher (the free version) and i'm really happy with it. However, there are a couple things i'd like it to do that it can't. I'm looking for opinions and suggestions before i go get/buy another.
Requirements:
-make dock look like stock froyo/gingerbread
-create custom shortcuts
-ability to use icon packs
-add whatever apps/custom shortcuts you like to the dock
-add/remove home screens
-have app drawer as vertical list, not horizontal pages
-some way to hide apps from the main list
-modify app shortcuts in app list (change icon and name)
know of anythign that can do all this? thanks in advance guys.
There are several free launchers,
I personally use ADW launcher ex (not free) but if you want a free launcher with these specifications launcherpro is a very good choice
Check launcher pro. Not sure where the differences really stand between free and Plus, apart from Widgets. You can have scrollable docks with custom shortcuts / icons, hide apps from drawer, vertical scroll (and 4D app drawer like ADWEX) offers and icon support. You can't easily change icons with LPP like you can with ADW, but you can use another app (like Desktop Visualizer) for that. It also has removable / addable(?) Homescreen counts as well. Scrollable Widgets are a bonus, like the Twitter one.
Many options out there though. Not sure about them all.

Hopefully someone will correct me if wrong. I'm just seeing your question now and after looking I don't see an option. I was a long running ADW advocate and have only been on LPP for a couple weeks. Truth be told I never looked as I've always like the black BG. Not sure if it is themeable like the Widgets as I haven't looked into it.

Personally, I'd go with ADW EX. For an app drawer I use Alt Drawer. You can change the background, icons, app name, hide apps, etc. Just remove the app drawer shortcut and replace it with Alt Drawer. The free version of LauncherPro cannot resize widgets, so that's lame. You have to edit the icons as you're applying them, if you want to change the icon later you can't just long-press like in ADW, you have to add it again. I thought LauncherPro was kind of mundane - I prefer ADW's hidden dock to LauncherPro's scrolling one. Two separate custom dock backgrounds, yay! Or even better - you can remove the main dock altogether and use only the hidden dock. Go Launcher felt clunky to me, and I absolutely hated the app drawer.
Whichever you choose is personal preference. Just please don't pirate any apps. The developers work hard to give you really awesome apps, the least you can do is give them a couple bucks.

Whichever you choose is personal preference. Just please don't pirate any apps. The developers work hard to give you really awesome apps, the least you can do is give them a couple bucks.

That is very true. There are stand alone, customizable drawers as well. The LPP handling of icon changing irks me to no end. I hate using a separate app if I don't have to. I love ADWEX but it was just tweaking out on me and I decided to check out LPP. And yes, along with the widgets, you cannot change widget sizes by default.
The hidden ADW dock wad 'teh sex' too, as I relied on swipe gestures. This is one, of the many things, I've missed from ADW. The handling of the icon packs (apart from just the simple changing of the icons) is another bonus for ADW.
It all depends. The Twitter widget and scrollable dock were jazzy enough to keep me going. I'm sure ill be back, until the rewrite, at least, for LPP. Fede does great work and his launcher runs a helluva lot smoother on my device than Ander's. I got mad redraws that could not be remedied and overall lag that I haven't seen on LPP. Worth noting some have seen as much on LPP. Device specific, sure. That and the Uber Music release have me temporarily pumped.

I would really go for Go Launcher. It does all you want, has pretty good theme support, has a recent applications drawer and a drawer with running apps where you can close them. It doesn't reduce battery duration and it doesn't slow down your phone.
I've tried out a few of these launches, nothing has beaten ADW yet. I'll look into AltDrawer tho, thanks.
@plainjane - i don't pirate apps
Hey, so, I couldn't seem to find "alt drawer", and I tried "organized drawers" and it sucks.
Anyone have some links to these app drawer replacement apps?

For some reason I remember it appeared in the widgets on the Note 4 even with Nova. But, you can't on the Note 5. However, you can use a 3rd party widget application (like Zooper) and install an S6 Weather widget (which is pretty much the same as the stock Note 5 weather widget). Or you could use UCCW or Zooper and create your own. I was going to do that, but I got lazy and bought one from the play store for $0.99 that works with Zooper Pro.
It you're looking for something similar and clean looking like the stock widget you could run a Brightweather and Timely Combination. Have App Overlay turned on and place Brightweather at the top and then Timely below it and stretch Brightweather over Timely to give make it look as if it's one widget and while keeping it clean.
This is how I had it set up for example. I hope this is a good alternative for you!

Xwidget is also a good alternative, although, I have never been able to get the stock weather app to work with Nova.
chronus widget added one that looks similar. need to download the Chronus GS6 weather icon pack too.
There is a way to do it. Technically, won't be the widget but it will be a zooper that looks just like it. You'll also have to add some transparent icons to open the app whenever you tap the widget. I'll find to how to and post it here
Here you go the zoomed widget that looks like the Samsung weather widget https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.designedly.zwskin.s6widgets
And this is what the widget looks like.

Had to post a link because when I try to attach an image using tapatalk the app is FC on me.

I actually used Xwidget and I got it to work. There are so many S6 Weather Widgets that are very similar. I tried several and they worked for me on the Note 5.

Do you mean on the Lock screen or the home screen?
you can get the weather widget on the lock screen when Nova is your default launcher. -
All you have to do is setup weather in your touchwiz launcher - once you have a location assigned in the stock home screen weather widget in Touchwiz launcher - the weather will be added to the lock screen regardless of whether you use Touchwiz or Nova - but you have to turn it on in Touchwiz to get it to work on the lock screen after Nova is set as your default launcher.
I also just tried to add "weather widget" on my Nova Home Screen and it works too - I dont know if adding it in Nova will automatically inlcude it on the lock screen or not - but I know if you follow the instructions above, it does work.
Hope that helps.

not sure - but I just tried to replicate the look of the stock widget with Beautiful widgets and I got pretty close to what you are looking for - just need to use the right layout and correct thrme - I threw this one together without trying to match the exact look - with a little searching, I am sure you could find a theme that is even closer to stock look -
regardless - good luck
