Sony used to have this:
http://www.myhphone.com/manufacturer/accessories/sony-ericsson-mxe-60-flash-add-on/
I'm wondering if its possible to make one using the mini-usb port on this phone?
Perhaps one of those could even be modded to do it (Though wouldnt be ideal)
would make a cool product to sell!
What for ? camera is still crappy , its not like its DSLR for any worth while pictures real camera can't be beat at this point in time.
ive seen these for other phones,
It will happen only if this is a huge success for samsung..

I dont' want to carry a DSLR whenever I'm hanging out with friends... a very small flash connected to my phone would be ok though
Tht'd Be cool also they should make an external projector like the beam has bouilt in but the s is much finner so will look better
there is no reason to use the usb-port, just use a micro-tork if you can't live without it.

Right, and I suppose besides the DSLR, you also bring along a PSP for games, an iPod or Zune for music, a Garmin GPS receiver for maps, and a thick paperback book plus several newspapers as reading material.
But most of us would prefer the convenience of a all-in-one device even if it doesn't perform as well as multiple dedicated devices.
flash on Digital Cameras are wasted.
if you want a real flash you need to get big, and goes for even professional cameras, also you need to calculate the size of the room and distance.
most people i've seen taking pictures with point and shoot cameras with build in flash, has horrible results.
the best result is to NOT use the flash at all, and just take the picture, if you really need illumination, use a CREE LED flash light. (something like this http://www.dealextreme.com/details.dx/sku.13060) I always carry that with me, specially when I'm biking at night.
Most standard room lighting conditions are more than adequate enough for a good picture with a phone camera/point and shoot camera.

You are sure that that's your opinion? Because that's the silliest thing i read today (and i read quite a lot)!

Hi
Last time a was out driving I found out that when I placed my mobile on my mobile on the dashboard it works as a Head up display With some tweaking it works perfect as a speedometer and speed camera warning(using tom tom), but I need to find a application that can invert my display. I tried searching, but with no results. Does someone know about a application that could help me with this?
Search better.......
There are tons of these apps....You could also do that using a simple Mortscript file.... Or maybe using a particular task manager (anyone, except the winmo one, has this feature...)
Next time follow the link on my signature.....

I know there are alot apps that can rotate the screen, but I hav'nt found any that can invert it yet.
I missed something.....
I'm just curious... Why you want invert your screen?

Because when I put the mobile in the dash and the display shines in the windscreen it gets inverter. So i get a bit har to read everything backwards.

Maybe it works....
Think the OP is actually looking for something to create a mirror image of his display, as opposed to just inverting the colours.

Sounds like it yes! Someone?
Sounds like an awesome idea. I have never heard of software possible of doing this, but at the very least I understand what you mean. You want to invert the image, not the colour (text = txet) so it appears correctly in a mirror image (or a car windscreen).
I will keep an eye out, as it should be possible, though I haven't seen anything yet.
just asking, why don't you just use a windshield (or any other kind) mount for all what you want? why go into all this trouble?
Because a windshield mount is all "in your face". Using the reflection is a lot more subtle and is just plain neat.
To those who didn't understand i took som pictures today, maybe someone would take the time to make this kind of program?
The picture are a bit fuzzy because it is nearly imposible to hold the camra steady for the five seconds it takes without i tripod. There are also two reflections from the windscreen, but it is easily readable in real life!

No one knows?
i'm interested in this as well... but just don't have any knowledge on how to do this. one alternative is to perahps add a mirror somewhere to invert the screen once prior to the windshield...
Hi everyone,
i am expecting my DHD to be shipped on Monday (hopefully )
so instead of waiting restlessly in front of my computer screen i decided to design my own case for the DHD since most online cases don't fit my taste.
as of now i've made the first prototype design and would like to ask you for general advice and help.
my two questions are as follows:
1. since i do not have the device at hand i don't know the exact dimensions so could anyone tell me (based on the pics) if you think the prototypes are of the right size?
2. i am not sure which design to go for, could you tell me which do you think looks best and the criteria on which you based your opinion?
thanks
note about the pics: i also included pics of a smaller card holder which i had previously made to show how the laser engraving actually looks like (i think this time the laser strength was too powerful as it cut through the material xD) and how the thread is supposed to look like (i made the android one in a hurry as i had to finish an essay before i could go out xD)
also, my favourite atm is the androids design but the wax which i tried melting on it seemed to make it look worse than i thought it would, probably cos the laser cut out too much xD, so i would also like to ask you, do you think i should make the background androids larger to increase detail or do they look ok that way?
heh another note: TEKBOI/ TEK301 is my usual nickname, that's why i engraved it
finally, the case prototypes , i hope you like them
EDIT: Thanks apprentice for letting me know about the pics :/ i think they should work now

are they visible now?
tomorrow i should have time to cut out another case but i'm not sure if i should keep the same design or not, i am not sure wether to blame to intricate design of the androids or the higher laser setting, i'll trychanging both probably xD
wow. they are amazing! i prefer the simpler design, but both are very cool.
I actually remade the Android one but enlarged the background androids this time. I attached a pic I just took with the dhd cos I'm not home. Once I got the phone I made a smaller design as this one is slightly too big and I also changed the Android sizes again. I haven't had time to go cut it yet though :/
Thanks btw xD

Is there a camera replacement that lets me specify the ISO?
I read something about the Desire camera apk but can't find much more info. Anyone know anything?
Heh, what do you know! That isn't adjustable either!
I tried 3 camera apps and no luck

I haven't found any great camera aps for the Nexus S.
I use Camera 360 for it's HDR feature, but it's not ideal: it doesn't offer 16x9 option, the HDR is so-so and you have to keep the stock camera for video.
And of course, I wish someone would figure out how to get 720p video from the Nexus S.

I care a lot less about 720p video than manual ISO. Cranking the ISO can really help get much better pictures in low light. I used my Evo to take some incredible photos of Iron Maiden in concert at the Garden, but I had to shoot at ISO 800 for it. On Auto they were just too blurry.

Heh, to each their own.... But the fact is still that there isn't a great camera app which does anything truly useful that the stock camera doesn't.
BTW, how did the pics look on a big screen at ISO 800? Did you get tons of noise, or were the shots useful?
Large images, but it doesn't seem the thread is good for much else anyway

That was done with an evo? You have to have a steady hand too with low light. I certainly can't do it.
Yup. In the pit. The pics at auto ISO were just blurs.
Hi everybody, I have recieved my N5 2 weeks ago and Im loving it. The only problem I have is with the camera. Lets face it, the camera app is not so great and Im curious if there is a good replecement for it. I have a samsung galaxy s2 from almost 3 years ago with 8 megapixels and it takes much better pictures therefore I know it is the camera app, not the camera itself. Yes, Ive tried some camera apps from the play store but none of which I tried really work great. I am more curious in ports from the lg g2 or galaxy s2-4 if possible? What are the best alternatives or what is possible? Thanks.

I will try Zoom FX and see how that works
the camera app is fine, no issues with it and taking fast and motion shots. maybe its something you need to learn?

ill adjust exposure occasionally, but rarely change anything. but i do not rely on autofocus, ever. i touch to focus where i want it focused. just pressing the button and getting a general focus is satisfactory, i like making sure what i want gets focused on.
This p155 poor camera surely can't be hardware can it? i have not known a worse camera for a long time. Any shots in anything other than really good light are pretty terible. Tried in all modes, and wish I could go back to my Mate 20 Pro which wasn't the best but superior to this in low light!!
Even macro on my S6 was more useful despite being lower resolution!
Sorry for the rant, but this is the last time I'll buy samsung I think. If anyone can tell me a cheap andoid phone with better low light than this I would be greatful (I know they exist as I have seen images but can never remember what they are!).
Thanks [/rant over]
Welcome to XDA.
Post some examples of the fails.
Anything from the N9 up should be able to capture good shots especially in good condition light. Macros are a weakness because of the lense and shallow depth of field ie fast lens that can't be stopped down.
With some practice even the S4+ could grab usable macros... to a point. With a shallow dof the focus point needs to be spot on. Subject distance is also critical.

Thanks for responding Blackhawk. Thing is, I am adept at photography (long time owner of Nikon D90 which I never use in auto! but I do use my camera underground in mines that I explore, and I am comparing with other camera's (including my old mate20pro). When we take photos side by side with other friends this rarely fails to disapoint.
What I will do is take some more pics next week with a friend who has a pixel under the same light conditions for comparison

Auto aperture was my primary mode many times with my Canons. Smartphones are crude cams by comparison...
Mines? You out west? Ghost towns and cold war relics too?

Ah sorry by auto I mean auto lol... Ap and shutter priority are excellent and very much have their place!
Regards mines I like in the UK. I am part of a club who looks after copper mines going back to the bronze age. We also explore mines and go spelunking a lot too!
Would love to get over to the many gold mines in the US. A friend bought one a while back for a £1 lol... Never been to the US sadly!
I will say I have been blown away by the standard set by Google and Apple in dark areas though. We had a film crew to a location recently and they had all their pro gear. When they came underground with us they used a combination of an iphone in 1080 and a gopro. They said nothing beats these cameras for video and compactness underground! I was stunned!
Just a pity I don't like Apple because combined with the lidar function you can create incredible scans/surveys of spaces!
Another thing I should add is I am very dissapointed with the extras when you swipe right. It seems you used to be able to add extra camera functions but I have not worked out how... Is it possible?
