Hi everybody, I have recieved my N5 2 weeks ago and Im loving it. The only problem I have is with the camera. Lets face it, the camera app is not so great and Im curious if there is a good replecement for it. I have a samsung galaxy s2 from almost 3 years ago with 8 megapixels and it takes much better pictures therefore I know it is the camera app, not the camera itself. Yes, Ive tried some camera apps from the play store but none of which I tried really work great. I am more curious in ports from the lg g2 or galaxy s2-4 if possible? What are the best alternatives or what is possible? Thanks.

I will try Zoom FX and see how that works
the camera app is fine, no issues with it and taking fast and motion shots. maybe its something you need to learn?

ill adjust exposure occasionally, but rarely change anything. but i do not rely on autofocus, ever. i touch to focus where i want it focused. just pressing the button and getting a general focus is satisfactory, i like making sure what i want gets focused on.

Is there a camera replacement that lets me specify the ISO?
I read something about the Desire camera apk but can't find much more info. Anyone know anything?
Heh, what do you know! That isn't adjustable either!
I tried 3 camera apps and no luck

I haven't found any great camera aps for the Nexus S.
I use Camera 360 for it's HDR feature, but it's not ideal: it doesn't offer 16x9 option, the HDR is so-so and you have to keep the stock camera for video.
And of course, I wish someone would figure out how to get 720p video from the Nexus S.

I care a lot less about 720p video than manual ISO. Cranking the ISO can really help get much better pictures in low light. I used my Evo to take some incredible photos of Iron Maiden in concert at the Garden, but I had to shoot at ISO 800 for it. On Auto they were just too blurry.

Heh, to each their own.... But the fact is still that there isn't a great camera app which does anything truly useful that the stock camera doesn't.
BTW, how did the pics look on a big screen at ISO 800? Did you get tons of noise, or were the shots useful?
Large images, but it doesn't seem the thread is good for much else anyway

That was done with an evo? You have to have a steady hand too with low light. I certainly can't do it.
Yup. In the pit. The pics at auto ISO were just blurs.
Hey,
I need small piece of help from you all, I have Samsung Google Nexus S phone. It's camera is NOT performing good job, it's camera result shows whiteness and noise on picture and the picture seems without focus too I have checked the setting that is okay.
Settings are as below:
Flash: Off
Picture Size: 5 MP
Exposure: 0
Focus Mode: Auto / Infinity / Macro (tried all of them but no good focus)
Scene Mode: Auto
Here is my camera result with above settings:

I am using Jelly Bean 4.1.1
Have you tried with a different camera? I had a similar problem when installing CM10. I was using Camera ZoomFX and it started to work terrible. Stock camera, on the other hand, worked much better. I just went back to the stock one and forgot about it.

I have tried:
1. Stock Camera App
2. Camere Zoom FX
3. Camera ICS
But I did not get better result from my phone's camera... Stock camera and Camera ICS do not allow me to use TOUCH FOCUS on the other hand in Camera Zoon Fx when I touch on the screen it shows sometimes Red and sometimes Green box depend upon the situation but actually it does not focus that green box is just for showing, it actually does not focus the subject, I have tried different settings but no good focus and no good pictures
do a factory reset, then upgrade to 4.1.2
this was a shot made with my i9023 + stock google 4.1.2, about 5 months ago:
Today I and my friend were comparing my 3rd Gen and Coolpad note 3 lite. While testing photos I saw that my device being a $200 one was so poor when compared to a $100 device!
Here are our shots at best settings (me on CM 13 by Alberto, latest) and he on Coolpad UI ..

Pls suggest how to improve d quality?
To me it doesn't look like the flash brightness is the problem. I've seen photos look like that when there was something too close to the LED flash. A case perhaps that extends too far out, or too close the LED, even a finger too near-by. The light then reflects off of the case/finger and back at the camera sensor, causing a washed out and over bright photo. Do you have it in a case?

No case or anything like that but I will try it again today.. Maybe it was my finger!
Pls check this too.. Moto camera on Cm13.. Still camera flash is toooooooo bright.. This time sure that it's not fault of my fingers..
This might be due to CM. Did you compare to stock ROM? In stock ROM picture quality is often a bit better due to proprietary camera tweaks by the manufacturer which are not found in custom ROMs.
E.g. compared to my Galaxy Note 3 I don't see any issue with the flash oft my Moto G3 (MM stock ROM) being too bright.

my camera sensor is not working
my camera sensor is not working in pro mode if i adjust the focus its doing nothing bt others like ISO effects are working fine, couple of month ago everything was fine, is it possible that the heat from the fingerprint sensor affect the camera sensor?plz help, i am in v029 update. thanks
If you haven't already, grab the new camera update. Grid was added. In fact, we got three variants, including golden ratio. Very nice Essential. I'm liking this device more every day.
Not sure if it's just me but the mono camera seems o be better too.

AutoHDR mode
Improve capture speed
With the recent updates the camera is much better. Love it!
Capture speed is definitely way faster almost instant now and pics are looking pretty good too

I came from a Galaxy S6 and I find the camera very acceptable. Portrait mode is a pretty cool feature as well! The only real thing I miss is the voice feature like saying shoot to take a picture.

I came from my wife's S6 as it was spare and my phone was a OnePlus One.
I'd say the camera is slightly better on the S6 still but it isn't far off.
I only found the S6 "say shoot" late into using my wife's phone. Total gimmick [emoji1]

I really need this feature and it's gone since Pie update , I wonder if it's a bug or they intentionally removed it?
Anyone able to get the stabilization to work or any method to revert the camera app to the older version?
Please help!!!
I was under the assumption video stabilisation is on always.. You can't turn it off. Hence there's no option in the settings anymore....

I wish it was like that but I'm pretty sure it is not!!!
The video recording is shaking as hell and it doesn't make sense to have in on all the time since EIS doesn't work with 60FPS and 4K and that would be really confusing.
Using gcam you get the option to turn video stabilisation on/off.

But the same, when you switch to 4k it disables it....I do think gcam video stabilisation works better than native app....

Your quite tight you won't find it in the Playstore as its a modified version of the camera app that goes into the pixel phones.
There's very little versions, if any now, that work OK with this phone. Not many developers are trying to port the app to the honor note 10. Not popular enough or to old.
The one I'm using is the latest version I can find that works OK with the Note 10. Albeit an old version now as the latest version of Gcam have loads more features..
https://www.dropbox.com/s/pgiqyolksmycxbf/GoogleCamera_5.1.018.apk?dl=0
Download it and see how you get on.
If you're in tested in trying other modded apk's, then check out this Web page. It has hundreds of modded versions....but beware a lot of them just won't run of freeze the phone when the app is opened.. Good luck.. [emoji1303]
