If I have an app apk and installed it from the SD using apkinstaller what happens if an update to the app is released? Will it autoupdate or is it possible to then force update from the market?

The question is pretty straightforward. Whenever you download an app from the market, it gets downloaded on to the internal memory 1st & then gets installed. If I've set the setInstallLocation to 2 via adb, it gets installed to sd. The problem here is that even though the app is installed directly to sd, its initially downloaded onto internal memory. My internal memory is low & doesn't allow me to download huge apps. I had to install games like Nova by downloading apks from the net using Opera browser & then install it. I can't do this for Market apps however. So, how do I make an app to download as well as install on sd?
How do I install Apps off the SD card, Microsoft say go to store and select SD card…? No SD card to be seen. The App is on the root of the SD card?
After copy xap file to SD card, you have to restart the phone and wait few second (may be 1 or 2 minutes). Next you run to the market store and tap SD card, when opened you can install copied app from the list.

Damn, why doesn't it say that in the manual. Cheers for the info.

No, data sense is included to Amber ROM and does not appear as a xap file.
how to install apps / move apps to sd card on xperia z3 instead of using internal memory ?
thank you ! :fingers-crossed:
Root it, install SD card write fix and enjoy.
This is because of kitkat, in this version of android, everything is blocked to write on SD card except first party apps (that comes pre-installed on phone).
Any other app WILL NOT be able to write on SD without root and this fix.

how do I replace an app without installing it with its updated version when the app is not downloaded from play store.
android version 4.4.2 with write restrictions on external sd card.
Hi everybody, I have root access on my phone but I still can't install on SD. I've read that Kit Kat has a bug that impedes the correct use of the SD card. I tried a solution I've seen on this forum about installing big games on SD but I'd like to just transfer some apps I have like Chrome, for example. It takes up more than 100MB.
Do you know of any way of getting this done?
As u have root access, you can use app like link2sd, it can move any app to external sd, but use it wisely, moving some system app can cause FC..
Also u can use xposed framework and install the module named "kitkat sd card full access" which will solve the android 4.4.4's write issue to sd card..
I've installed the module and rebooted my phone but if I try to set the default install location to the SD card it doesn't change. I use ROM toolbox lite that gives you the possibility to change it using Apps2SD but I can only leave it to "Auto".
