New User - HTC HD2 - General Questions and Answers

Hey all.... I'm new to the forums and am looking to get basic info and helpful tips with my new phone. I recently purchased the Tmobile - HTC HD2 - kinda dissapointed because after not looking to much into it I realized its not android compatible which kinda sux... was looking forward to the apps and such.... but anyways, I've been looking into the different stuffs you guys have found for this phone and was wondering if you could point in the direction of some good beginner threads explaining how to access and unlock different things on this phone... any helpful tips or threads would be great. Thanks guys...

Welcome to forums
After you tweak and flash with an XDA custom ROM you won´t need/want Android
Have a look on the Wiki and in Leo section, where you can find all you need to have fun with your HTC device!
Read, Search, Respect and Enjoy!

Actually, the Leo section is for a different version of the HD2 (Eurpoean).
You need to go to the Tmobile HD2 section, located here

i dont get it..why people look at htc hd 2 and they like ooh i want one. so they bought an htc hd 2 then hate it. thats really pathetic. yes flash a rom! energy is stable and nice.
before do flash a rom, hardspl then flash a task29 and flash the enegry rom. if u like it, then choose radio which is best for ur location and battery life.
oh yea, IPHONE SUCKS!

T-mobile ROM or HTC ROM plus other questions!

Hi all i have been using pda phones for a long time and have followed this website for quite a while...
I have an obsession for these kind of phones...so today i upgraded my phone from vario to the new vario 3.
One of the first things i plan to do is flash the ROM/Radio (not to good with the terminology).
i was wondering what people think of the t-mobile rom ENG or any other versions of it and whether i would be better off using the original htc one...i wasnt really fond of the rom for the vario.
also i havent flashed a phone in a long long time (last time was for my mda compact which was nearly 2/3 years ago!)..so i wanted to ask is there anything i should know? i have been reading the threads and i wanted to know which version of the hard spl should i use because there are several different stickies with difference hard spl
Can you update the radio serparatly from the rom? or can you do them both at the same time? and also which radio and rom would you recommend?
and also where can i learn to understand what exactly rom/radio/ext rom are exactly..i have a respectable idea of what they are but jus wanna make sure i know what im doing before i do it..
and also what does dumping a rom do?
thanks for your help
sorry if these questions have already been asked!

I've got no problems with it, actually. Sure, there's a few tweaks need installing, but I don't think there's anything serious enough to risk changing the ROM for - the device hasn't been out long enough for people to make any significant additions to it and as far as I know, there aren't any official upgrades out yet.
I've stuck the MoDaCo Vario III de-brand on, to change the icons back to sensible colours, then picked up other tweaks from this site and MoDaCo.
Easier than a ROM flash, reversible, and risk-free.
Before you rush off and flash a new ROM, ask yourself what you're actually trying to accomplish.

Any particular tweaks that you would recommend here or the modaco website?
was trying to get rid of some of the bloatware that i didnt want that t-mobile provides..but i will take ur advice and not rush into it..will wait for a month or two before i start prying around...
plus the skin/today/theme/front page (dont know what it is but it surely has to be one of those) of the htc rom and orange rom looks cool!
do you know where i can get that from?
i.e. these ones htc
(http://www.trustedreviews.com/mobile-devices/review/2007/08/10/HTC-P4550-Kaiser-Smartphone/p3)
and orange (where it says software)
ps thanks for ur help and advice
im at work so it wont let me check the modaco website...but i will check it out when i get home
The T-Mobile ROM is about as near to the HTC one as an operator ROM is ever likely to get. The only piece of un-needed bloat was a trial version of F-Prot Antivirus; which takes a few seconds to uninstall. Even de-branding it is a pretty short job, as for once they haven't splashed pink everywhere.
The VarioIII rom from t-mob is actually very good... been using it for a few weeks, and feel no need to flash the 'proper' htc one...
tmob seem to have learnt to leave well alone... finally

cheers for ur advise u guys
any tweaks in particular u would recommend i have seen the scha'p's advanced configuration tool im gonna use that...anything else?
The first tweak I'd recommend is Paul's Debrand that I mentioned in my previous post. Gets rid of a lot of the pink and switches back to nice Windows colours.
The Trusted Mobiles picture looks like it's using the Windows Default theme.
If you tap Start, Settings, Today then Windows Default, hit OK and return to the Today screen. Should look pretty similar.
Go back to that page again and tap the Items tab at the bottom. The giant widget with the clock is the HTC Home plugin. All I've got on my Today screen are that (modified) and the Calendar.
To modify the HTC Home plugin, head over to http://www.pocketemu.com/hhc-info.html and download the HTC Home Customizer. This is a fantastic app. Poke around the site, find the themes you want, then download, install and configure it.
The other biggie you'll want is the Kaiser Tweak. Have a read through that thread, but it's fairly self explanatory once you run it.
That should give you a start, anyway. Enjoy!

Yo whats up tp2!?!?

Ok so im new to the touch pro2 i literally just traded my hero for it so i was wondering what is the best rom for it what i mean by best is looks speed etc. Please post all opinions i also wanted to say whats up to everyone!!!
you're from cee-town, so i can't leave you twisting in the wind. the best rom is the one that YOU like best. there are different roms for different things, just flash away until you find the one you like . go cavs and tribe!
thats whats up now i get to have a bunch of fun reading all these posts tryin to figure out what i need to flash this phone lol good lookin tho...
my personal fav is the chein home screen (not sure if that classifies as a ROM tho). i like it better than the HTC sense for 2 reasons. first off, whenever i turn on my phone it takes no less than 10 minutes for the HTC Sense to load up and tht gets annoying when u gotta call or text someone ASAP (or update ur facebook status). the chien home screen is always there to say hi right after the windows splash screen disappears. the second reason is im a photographer/designer so i get to set a pic as my today screen and i can enjoy it w/o anything obstructing its veiw.. but thats more of a personal thing.
as mr8820 said its all about ur own personal taste. browse around and find watcha like
Hope i helped
many cdma roms are listed on ppcgeeks.com
man this phone is soooo slow lol and i honestly DONT know where to even start or how to start i knew android in and out haha can some one please point me to a fast rom that looks as good as it runs and what i need to install please i been searching but im gettin confused
As already stated, everybody has different tasted in ROMs, so there is no way to tell you what the the best available for you without first trying them. PPCGeeks does have a larger CDMA following than XDA-Developers currently has.
I am in the process of preparing an updated CDMA ROM now, and it will be released exclusively here on XDA. My older CDMA ROMs can be found on PPCGeeks now (link in my signature). My ROMs lean towards performance over appearance and flashiness.

[Q] T-Mobile Htc Sensation 4g Noob Questions.

Forgive me please.. My name is Jeff and I am a newb..
I have had iPhones for 4 years and done my best to jailbreak unlock and liberate as many devices as I could from Steve Jobs grasp.. But alas those days are over.. and I have made the switch to Android.. A little late to the game.. I know..
I have rooted a bunch of nook colors to flash Cyanogen and helped a guy with a G2x again to root and install cyanogen. So I do have a little experience but that is were it stops.
So now that I have made you read that brief introduction here is my amazingly noobish question that the flaming of which will probably bring joy to many people here. So I am willing to take one for the team for your entertainment.
Question 1. Will the noobproof method of s-off, rooting, Installing ClockWork, and gaining SuperCID work on my device and will the 4g radio still function as there is a tower within a good quarterbacks throwing range of my house.
Question 2. I ask because I cannot find a definitive answer. What is the best way to uninstall all the sense crap and the bloatware on this phone.
I would like to add that this is my first android phone and I am loving it. I was a little worried switching from iPhone.. yeah yeah i know.. But now that i have there's no looking back.
If the guides exist to do what i want and I am just blind to not have found them feel free to just post links and not waste your time re posting them.
Thank you again for your time and assistance.. or for the flaming and the countless sleepless hours of trying to sort thru the forums to find the already answered threads that may come.
ps Ordered my anker 1900mah battery should be here tuesday.. wait.. wrong thread.
Feel free to reply to me on google+ Just Look for Jeff DeVeau
Hey, I'm coming from the iWorld as well. I've only had my Sensation 4G for a week but I've been flashing ROM's the whole time lol. So, to Q1- Yes, 4G works great after rooting and or using a custom ROM. Q2- The cleanest way IMO to do this is just install a custom ROM that has all the bloatware your looking for removed already. You can delete it yourself, or freeze the apps too, but there are more benefits to custom ROM's besides that. EVERYTHING can be optimized by the ROM chef ;-) There are more than 25 ROMS available so far... Pick your poison There are also different radio ROM's that users have said can increase 4G speeds in conjunction with certain system ROM's... Have fun!
I just got mine 2 days ago.. I cant help but to want to tinker with this thing.
Any experiences you have had with specific Rom / Radio combinations I would love to hear.. Im pulling about 6-8mbps down pretty consistently but of course... the faster the better right?
Can't wait for Cyanogen for the Sensation.. I love it on my nook
Another Question (or two)... If I plan on trying different Roms I just S-off, install Clockwork and Root right?
Do I need SuperCID? I just leave s-off right?
Just wanted to say.. S-Off'd and installed HD Revolution and no sense on my two htc sensations.. Both are running great with adw launcher.
Question..
the issues I have are that the live wallpaper keeps going back to the default, sometimes when I install a app it doesn't show up in the app drawer till iI reboot, and the 4g logo is showing up as H.
Any solutions for these issues?

New to forums, new to Sensation 4G

New to forums, new to the Sensation 4G.
So far I've had this phone for less than 48 hours. What I've noticed about it thus far is it is fast, and it seems like I'm using maybe 1/16th of it's potential. The only apps I've installed thus far are the Tesla LED flashlight, and Facebook. I've also got a 32GB micro SD card in the mail which should be here Monday, and I've already got a Jawbone Icon for it as well.
What are the worthwhile apps to have on this phone, and are there any other mods that I should be looking into? Is there anything else I should know? Thanks for the help ahead of time.
Edit: Good cases, screen protectors, etc?
Welcome aboard!
Have you S-Off'd or rooted yet?
If not, get to it!
It's a blast and the phone will fly!
No, I haven't done anything to it yet as far as rooting or s-off'd (<-whatever that last one is).
Any chance you can point me to some good threads on both of those subjects? I'm really new to this whole modifying phones thing. I've been building computers for years, but this is obviously different.
Start here http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1192300
And then look thru the Development section and choose a rom.
The Apps and Themes section also has a lot of goodies.
A lot of things in that section need at least a rooted phone.
To install roms you will need to be S-Off'd.
S-Off = Security Off (Unlocked Bootloader)
Oh yeah...
Remember do a lot of reading.

Get a flame retardant suit; if u overlook something in a search or (god forbid) post without searching expect minimum 2 pages if flame before any useful posts. That being said, there's some very smart folks here and lots of great info.
Hey guys , I'm new to androids too ...... I was on the iPhone hype since the 3g and now I have left my iPhone 4 for an htc sensation ! I believe its on 2.3.4 ..... I'm wondering if that's rootable and can it be done on my MacBook ?! Sorry for newbish questions ..... Thanks in advance for any and all help

You can root from a Macbook. There are a few threads in the development section on it.
But if you want to s-off , you will need a windows or Linux machine.
Or you can install windows on your MAC.

Which model case mate do you recommend?
Also, can you point me to a good thread or something on the insertcoin? I have no idea what that is or even does and I'd want to of course compare to other programs/mods that do the same thing.
Thanks.
So I only had my htc sensation for about a week now , haven't had a chance to S-off or root yet ..... Updated to 2.3.4 and now I'm getting WiFi dropping every minute or two ?!? Anyone ran into this problem

Can someone point me to the thread that has the best software mod info? I know there is more than one, I'm just not sure which one exactly is the best if that makes sense. Thank you.

First android phone, Desire S for 300€

Hey everyone!
Just bought my first android ( well any smartphone really ) and decided to go with this trusty HTC Desire S (294€). Even the 3.7" screen seems big to me and i couldnt imagine my self having any bigger phone than this...like most of the new models have... im in need of phone now so could'nt wait for Primo Allso the looks we're really appearing compared to One V and some sony arc minis etc... so this is it for me... This phone will be my future 3-4 years as i'm mostly used to use phone to talking..
now i wish this new phone to help me with calendar for work mostly and some www surfing&facebook&gps and camera that works and is with me when needed.
wanted to ask all of you cause this phone has been on market over year now and im all new to any smartphones that what should i do? so much inform on the pages i cant follow, witch rom/sense etc to upgrade.
i see all those roms&senses and stuff... im going to follow the newbie guide for battery optimising with tasker and stuff, but any direction what should i do to get best out of the phone...
i read the phone has gorilla glass and update to android 4.0 + sense ?
what is the use for all that rom upgrades? any trusty roms to recommend?
what is rooting and should i do it?
what is S-on S-off hboot?
So, is there on some working roms/upgrades any amazing features over the original i should be looking into?
phone is my notepad/calandar for work and facebook&camera on freetime...
happy summer everyone!
Frankly, as you are new, don't get into rooting and flashing new roms, hang around the forums, read a lot about it, make yourself comfortable and then get into it.
Enjoy the room that HTC has given you for some time.....
Sent from a Desire S waiting for Kernel 3. WAKE UP HTC!!!!
Welcome mate!
At the very first I would suggest you to get used to your phone. Check out all stock functions, applications, settings etc. before you go the rooting way (because this is what needs to be done if you're interested in any custom ROM).
I would deal at least a week with my stock phone, there are many new things to explore
Second, after you got used to your phone a little bit, you should spend some days only reading this forums (guides, tutorials etc..). Since you want to spent the next 3-4 years with your phone I think you don't want to mess it up. Go the safe route like I did some months ago, read up what needs to be done and try to understand a little bit how things work, before you attempt to do anything.
Sent by my fingers to your head.
Ok mates.. its just.... i've used to oc the hardware i own to get the juice out... i thought with all this rom etc.. the software has been tweaked to best... so its worth doing... i'll be hanging here for sure a long time so no hurry... just anxious to learn what the phone is capable...
thanks for repplys... still i think i'll end up tweaking it to suit my needs and get best performance like with all stuff i own... just the more reliable&secure the better...

Go to the general and dev section, read all the stickies in both then mod away, uta your phone after all. If in doubt search on the forum and good then ask on here, following all the stickies u should have access to fool proof info but if your ever having problems there is almost always someone online who can help
