Hello all.
A month or two back I performed a factory reset on my HTC Desire. Upon start up, things like contacts, messages, photos etc were restored just fine.
However, I accidentally deleted the stock clock/weather widget from my homescreen and when I tried to replace it, it wasn't in the list of widgets. But if I restored the entire "scene", the clock widget is there and fully functioning again.
So it's installed and runs with no problem, I simply can't add it where and when I want as per regular apps/widgets.
I'm sure there are a couple other little things missing, though I'm not sure what they are as I can't remember what they might be.
I hope that makes sense, and I apologise if this has been covered elsewhere - had a bit of look and couldn't see anything.
Many thanks,
James

Last night I flashed 1.5 Dudes build on my phone and when i was playing with my good old clock widget it, i normally just drag it about even though the screen i use it on is full so it just goes back to its normally place
but for some reason i dropped it and it went behind some of my shortcuts and widgets, everything was working fine :\ but then i noticed i actually really liked it being underneath
so is it possible to have that as a feature?
Not experiencing that. I'm on Dude's 0.8
It's happened to me occasionally with haykuros G build, but i've never been able to solidly replicate it, and of course I moved it before i decided i'd like it there
It may not be an installed feature...
But, it is possible to have layers... Just check out SweeterHome. That app allows layers of images, trays for links, etc to be in front of or behind other images, trays for links, etc.
SweeterHome is awesome! Still has some issues with too large of a memory footprint (that is all that really causes it to force close now).
So, this can definitely be done! Just haven't heard it is a native feature in 1.5 OS.
SweeterHome
Thanks guys gonna check out sweeterhome
Hope someone can help ? In my start menu, I've 'lost' the icon themes for HTC People, HTC Music, HTC Calendar and HTC Twitter. Each icon now simply appear like default Blue Framed Folders. The applications work fine when clicked. If I delete the icons, shut down and restart, they simple reappear incorrectly ?
No idea what I've done !! ? Hope this makes sense ?!
Help !
I've got a similar issue. I have a two 'People' and 'Music' Icons apprearing and the second copy of these also apprears as a blue framed folder.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, is this a bug and is there a fix?

Click to collapse
I've got this issue as well, also after installing Vovichek_Jamrecords 16 TT UPDATED.cab (to get the additional quick links).
Any ideas on how to fix would be welcome.
Moved as not theme release.
mine did the same thing all you have to do is go to settings then security the factory reset.......just make sure when you do it you save all of your information to your memory card because it will delete everything thats on the device.
Isn't there another solution than just doing a factory reset ?
Maybe someone can upload the original icons here. I would expect the problem to be resolved if we then just copy those original icons back into the windows folder.
I had the same problem on my TP2 a while back, no solution other than a H-Reset
still no solution?
too bad. i hate reset it.
Solution on this thread... Sort of...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=608100
Gets rid of the icons being reproduced all together.
please upload all of the icons here. thanks in advance =)
don't shoot me, but i am a bit of a novice. posted here 'cos this is where the hackers are, hopefully with some advice...
i like to keep my main (wm6.1) today screen clean as poss. i don't want any new gui app or touch flo etc etc. just a plain background image with one (transparent icon/bmp) folder containing 8 or so favorite contacts.
and, if poss, have it as a pop-up displaying the contact icons, then tap a non-linked area of screen for it to disappear - if that's possible without cluttering up the system with files too much.
is this possible without much knowledge of heavier hacking/script editing?
(oh, and obviously i don't want to install a big third party app to get 'whatever' to go, if that makes sense)
been searching and trying different things, but to no avail.
cheers very muchly
Moved to QnA, not dev related.
First Off im not a newb....i used the search function but we all know how ****ty that is....i found some answers but none of them relate to my issue...so please spare me the same "use the search" or "maybe you shouldnt of messed with your phone"
I downloaded the newest Cookies home tab and decided to delete it...now my sense wont load....everything else does though...I can hit the start button and it will bring up my start menu and ect.
I downloaded CHT to my storage card from the get go, does this make a difference?
If you could can you please give me the solution or provide me with the link if there already is a thread on this...
thank you.
Eeks, installing CHT to a Storage Card is 10,000% not recommended {as the main HTC Sense files it 'coincides' with are in your devices \Windows\ directory.}
There may be a fix, but don't take my word for it.
First, try installing CHT to your DEVICE this time, reset, then uninstall it.
If that doesn't work, download and install THIS to your device.
Once installed, tap the icon in your start menu once.
You'll see a 2 second Windows Wait Cursor.
Tap it again, this time it should spin a bit longer. Soft reset your device.
If Sense still won't load, I hate to say, but a Hard Reset may be in your best interest.
Just for the record, unless it's an Application or a Game, I wouldn't recommend installing anything else to your Storage Card.
Examples of things that should ALWAYS be installed to your device:
1.) WinMo Themes {taskbars, softkey bars, taskbar icons, etc..}
2.) Sense/Manila modifications, themes, etc..
3.) System Tweakers {cleaners, registry editors, ram optimizers, etc..}
Thank you! ill give this a shot when my phone is charged up
Sounds good. Hope you get the problem settled without the need of a Hard Reset.
Keep me updated.
Ok the first two didnt work.....if i do a hard reset im afraid that it isnt going to work and then im screwed because CHT is the only thing that is making my phone work
May I ask why you are trying to rid of CHT?
You can keep it installed and keep the basic look of the default Sense {with the help of the CHTE of course}.
Just style it up, and pretend it's not even there. <---being a smartass, sorry.
Also, if you do a hard-reset, it will just set your device back to day one {or to your ROMs default state}, so all changes you have made will be undone... think of it as a 'Fresh-Install' of Windows on a PC, because relatively, Hard Resetting is exactly that, except on a Mobile.
I did the hard reset and it worked. I also downloaded CHT again (to my device)
I wanted to delete it to see if everything would go back to the original, i dont know why i just like making sure every thing can go back to normal.
After I downloaded CHT again I also deleted it to see what would happen and the Sense will load now...... so now I have CHT and loving it. Thank you for you help
Well, sorry to hear that you had to Hard Reset, but I'm happy that you got everything running smooth.
Enjoy CHT. The possiblities are almost endless with it.
I recently purchased the TF201 approximately 2 weeks ago.
I was switching wallpapers to find a look that I liked and then all of a sudden a problem appeared.
Now any wallpaper, other than the stock preloaded ones (the trees etc), appear blurry and/or pixelated and cropped/zoomed in.
I've used Picspeed, Wallpaper Wizardrii in hopes to correct this and some other highly rated wallpapers apps and each one I try doesn't look right. I've since uninstalled them but can no longer get wallpapers to look right.
Is there a setting I'm missing somewhere?
Here are some images to better explain what is happening:
I guess I can't post pictures....
As you can see, where the color transitions should be smooth, they are cloudy and pixelated once the wallpaper is applied.
I'm hesitant to go nuclear and reset the tablet, as I've spent much time loading work contacts, calendars, meetings etc onto the tablet.
There must be a setting I'm missing? I hope someone has some advice.
Thank you,
Paul
This is the form from the original transformer not the prime but a fix might be to go into settings /manage applications find the setting application and clear cache and data (This will wipe out accounts and any device settings you have but not any data. If that does not work try the same thing with Launcher2 (Will only remove the placement of icons on your desktop and restore them to default
Which setting's cache am I clearing?
I reset the device, went on the internet and tried an assortment of images, none of them were scaled properly.
