Lost HTC Icon 'Themes' on HTC HD2 - General Questions and Answers

Hope someone can help ? In my start menu, I've 'lost' the icon themes for HTC People, HTC Music, HTC Calendar and HTC Twitter. Each icon now simply appear like default Blue Framed Folders. The applications work fine when clicked. If I delete the icons, shut down and restart, they simple reappear incorrectly ?
No idea what I've done !! ? Hope this makes sense ?!
Help !

I've got a similar issue. I have a two 'People' and 'Music' Icons apprearing and the second copy of these also apprears as a blue framed folder.
Does anyone else have this issue? If so, is this a bug and is there a fix?

I've got the same problem, after installing the Puremind BG4alltabs&16 shortcuts.cab deleting the cab won't restore the HTC icons

Same problem here after i installed Vovichek_Jamrecords 16 TT UPDATED.cab
after the first restart not only the htc icons were doubled ia also lost the icons of my custom created shortcuts bu they reappeared after deleting and recreating the shortcuts.
But the doubled htc shortcuts are not deletable they reapear after every reboot....

I've got this issue as well, also after installing Vovichek_Jamrecords 16 TT UPDATED.cab (to get the additional quick links).
Any ideas on how to fix would be welcome.

Moved as not theme release.

mine did the same thing all you have to do is go to settings then security the factory reset.......just make sure when you do it you save all of your information to your memory card because it will delete everything thats on the device.

Isn't there another solution than just doing a factory reset ?
Maybe someone can upload the original icons here. I would expect the problem to be resolved if we then just copy those original icons back into the windows folder.

I had the same problem on my TP2 a while back, no solution other than a H-Reset

still no solution?
too bad. i hate reset it.

Solution on this thread... Sort of...
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=608100
Gets rid of the icons being reproduced all together.

please upload all of the icons here. thanks in advance =)

How to do that?
there'e all files I used:
more additional and simpler method
used only 2 files:
Nice and thanks
I tried the two files and they worked well here (Pure running Tess 4.1)
I had a few personel changes I would prefer
White(er) clock digits would be more visable on my dark background
And I sometime have a hard time finding the current icon (to slide it )
with the transparent slider, I mainly changed it to get the 5 icons
Either of these "user" adjustable?
(wasn't there a select from multiple clock faces setting somewhere?)
I also noticed (its what really 1st got my attention!)
you have 5 launcher icons
I really like that feature! or even 4 wide how many total icons (rows?)
and how did you do that?
Thanks

+1 (it's true 9 shortcuts it's not enought)
Sorry as a follow up I decide to remove the clock and slider
unfortunately I was unable to remove the clock completely
(remove programs failed) Fortunately I had backed up first and
was abel to get back the original white flip clock with a cold reset and restore
I might have had more luck if I turned off TF3D before attempting removal?
but just as a heads up the cams I had the problems with were
No_BG.cam and No_slider1920.cab
I've also noted that it Doesn't look like the task bars with the two file solution
are actually transparent? they look solid black?
The pic thats with the three files TF3D 2.5 top and bottom curtain files
and clock 26 trans. looks more like what I'm looking for, bit I don't understand how you replace the single manila files with the 3 masks (they all have the same name. even though in different subdirs) but can't help but wonder if these will work with the set of "colored task bar icons" I'm using? (aren't the masks
specific to the icons artwork?
I know I've asked "a lot" and from two different authors, but I'd be willing to
bet its an interesting topic that at least a few people would like to know more about.
Thanks
KJL
I'd like to have the bottom slider (the one for selecting tabs) semitransparent.. Actually it is in today screen, ma I'd like to have it semitransparent also on all tabs.
Back to the launcher icons. Anyone has an idea how to get 4 and more there?
Hi,
I can't do this task!
After turning off the HTC Sense, I tried to copy and paste files, but the unit had the following message:
Can not copy 'Access Denied'
Make sure that the memory is enough free storage, the destination is not write protected and file is not being used
I am performing a wrong way?
Thanks

HTC HD2 Help I have duplicate shortcuts in Start Menu

I have 4 duplicate shortcut icons in my start menu. They are htc music, footprints, people and calendar. They appeared after i installed then removed a cab file to extend number of icons in home screen from 9 to 16,
Can someone help me to remove them, many thanks. Also does anyone know where footprint images are stored, and is there a way to plot images taken with camera using GPS other than footprint
windows/start menu/programs
Create new folders, move icons around...hide some, and, yes, delete as well...
I have the same problem of having duplicate shortcuts. There are the originals which have the usual icons, and the duplicates do not have custom icons, just a blank icon.
The problem with just deleting it in windows/start menu/programs is that I do not know which is the one with the icon, and which is the duplicate.
I started by deleting HTC Twitter as I do not use Twitter and deleted the one with the icon, and do not want to repeat with the other shortcuts. After a reboot the HTC Twitter icons have returned.
Any suggestions?
If they are returning then just use your file explorer "i use Total Commander" to change the properties to hidden
stylez,
Thank you for the suggestion.
When I look at File Explorer on the mobile I can see two copies of the duplicated icons, when I look on File Explorer on my PC only one copy is visible.
I changed the attribute of HTC Twitter to 'hidden' and it is still visible on the phone.
Try using Total Commander on phone
Thank you for your reply.
Changing the attribute to 'hidden' on the phone makes no difference either!
What I have found to work is:
Hide Reappearing HTC Icons from Start Menu
If you delete the HTC shortcuts to Peep, People, Messaging etc and reset, they always come back. To hide these shortcuts for good (not the apps just the shortcuts) use the tweak below.
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable
Change to 0 and soft reset. You may need to change their shortcut's properties to hidden by accessing them in Windows/Start Menu/Programs folder.
Posted elsewhere on this forum, I am unable to link to it.
Then delete the shortcut and it does not return.
thank u so much for all ur tips...the last solution works
i looked everywhere but thank u for finally finding me a solution!!!
Hi everybody.
Just deleted my HTC Calendar icon from Windows/start menu/programs. But deleted the original instead of duplicate. Is there a way to recover it somehow ? Or replace it with a downloaded one ? The duplicate is working now but too ugly.
Thank you.

I connected my HTC HD2 to Win Mobile Device Center, and thru the activesync connection, i go to File Explorer on the PC to try to change the attribute to Hidden for those 4 duplicated shortcut files on HD2...but in my File Explorer i can't get Windows/Start menu/Programs folders to appear...I initially thought the whole folders were "hidden" so i have already set File Explorer in my Win7 PC to show all hidden files...but still not showing those 3 folders (Windows, Start menu, Programs), any idea why? Pls help and let me know.

Have just done the same with the HTC Footprints icon but haven't got a duplicate. The program is still there because Footprints is still available as a Home Screen Tab.
Does anyone know how to re create a shortcut on the start menu?
Thank you.

i've just got my HD2 and noticed this too, can't access my windows folder from my laptop!! - total commander it is... for now!
how about this "JSPA Program Manager v3.10"
will it be help ...
shortcut links still appearing after being moved
I'm having some issues with moving various shortcut links around...
I've used JSPA program manager to change my HD2 start menu screen (not the sense home screen). I've created a few new folders and moved various shortcut links into the folders to make the start menu screen less cluttered. However I've an issue, which I can't seem to resolve.
I've created a folder "Skyscape" and moved (or at least I thought I'd moved) 60 various Skyscape application shortcuts to the Skyscape folder. After closing JSPA down, and navigating to the start menu screen, all the skyscape shortcuts still appear. Checking the Skyscape folder I find all the links are there, though they appear in a random order - is there any program that can help organize links & folders into varying order i.e. alphabetically, creation date etc.
I've navigated using 'Total Commander' and 'Resco File Explorer' to My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs and I find that the various Skyscape applications links aren't there... and checking the My Device>Windows>Start Menu>Programs>Skyscape folder I find all the links as expected.
I've also checked HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\HTC\Manila\IsShortcutEnable is set to '0' which it is... as detailed in hint 42> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=583638
Seems like something is amiss, almost like the start menu screen needs some kind of refresh...
Anyone got any helpful advice or hints as to how I can rid myself of the links on the start menu screen?

Can't get all Icons changed.. really not
Sorry to grab here but I tried in other threads and other forums but anyone had a solution for me.
I deleted all the Quicklinks on Homescreen, installed Diniks Anastasia set by cab file, cleared the ProgLauncher. In the Start Menu all Icons are showing roght but only about 40% of the Icons come on right on the Homescreen.
I look in Icon changer but there also all icons are showing correct. I long pressed on every Icon and said "hide default icon".. but no change to those that will not show on Homescreen.
By looking inside de Proglauncher Folder I remarked that all the icons that work are listed there, but not those that will not show correctly.. why that?
Any help, suggestions? Pleeeeeeeaaaaaaase?

you have to create a theme with iconchanger, after you have to go in the folder programs\iconchanger\themes\"your_theme_folder_name" and , with a file explorer,(program like rescoexplorer are better!!) rename the icon of the program was showed uncorrectly in your homescreen quicklink, after go in jwdm iconchanger , holdtap the program icon you want to change, programs\iconchanger\themes\"your_theme_folder_name"\"your_icon_you_have_just_renamed" .. afther this reclear the proglauncher folder and all is fine! -- for correct homescreen quicklink softreset is not needed, is needed for start menu only.
Wow, really something new.. gonna triy this tonight. I'll give feedback.. thanks a lot..!
Couldn't wait and tried on the spot. Seems to work out really fine. Thanks for that simple way that even I can understand
Those Icons not showing in Icon Changer I still have to double in .. argh which folder was that again .. does this stay the same to show them?

I did as you said and it would work out.. and now the big BUT:
Some of the links in Windows\Startmenu\Programs are organized in subfolders, for instance folder "tools", as in the Startmenu itself. Icon Changer can obviously NOT SEE INTO subfolders, for it does not list those links, even if copied and pasted. Only if copied to Windows\Startmenu\Programs (one directory up) it is recognized, but of course it does too change place in Startmenu itself, so that's not what I want.
Question: Why can't my Icon Changer (latest version 26b) not see the links in subfolders, for I think that this is common in all standard Roms????
And what do I do to be able to change those Icons..?
CSMI can help
Ok, I could solve this problem by just using other software.. CSMI helped me out, this one even shows which links lie in a folder.
thank u for ur effort ,but still a little problem with the weather switch icon,in the quicklink,im using CSMI but i cant locate it to make the change

[REQ] Icons for URL-Files on Home Screen - how to keep them permanently...

Hi,...
I am looking for a solution to modify the Icons of *.url-files permanently.
Why?
I copied some spezial url-files ("DHL", "Doodle",... my kind of "Apps" ;-) to
the startmenu, and linked them on hometab.
There is a direct way for favorites (I know), but with URL-files in Startmenu it is also possible to change the single Icons with JWMD....
and with "url2Opera" it works perfectly, but...
...after some soft-Resets the Icons disappear and the original Icon gets back...
I already cleared the WinMo-Icons-Cache, and in JWMD the modified icons are still shown....
Has Anyone an idea how to solve this properly?
Thanks!
I am testing a "solution" now
Like told in my first post, i copied the url-files into the startmenu...
Now, I keep them in der favorites-folder, and only copy a shortcut into the startmenu...
Now i got a real *.lnk - file, maybe it works better now...
But, anyway, if somebody has an idea????

"10. If some Icons still the same after Restart. Prefer clearing HTC Sense's icon cache. Go to your Device's \Application Data\HTC\ProgLauncher Folder and delete all the *.bmg files inside. These are icon caches that will be recreated upon next boot.
