Hi,
I was just wondering if there's a general consensus on whether having a Battery Meter/Saver really does much to save battery life or if it actually depletes a phone's battery more than anything else because it's always running in the background?
I'm not talking about something that just tells you how much power you have left. I' more referring to things like a Juice Defender or similar products.
What do you all think? I think most things that can save your battery are easily monitored on your own (like auto-updates, screen brightness, etc).
Looking for a good battery saver anyone knows one? For inspire 4g
I think Juice Defender works fine and its free. It does its job of killing the mobile data when the screen is off.
Yea I use that already but it seems like my battery still be dying kinda to fast.
Juicedefender +1
+1 juice defender
if you have the money for it, buy juice defender ultimate bc u can customize the settings
honestly, I started out using a task killer and a few other apps, and too didn't see much benefit...
biggest thing that helped me was autostarts...but you'll need to learn how to root your phone...
not only will it help you take control over all the crap that runs in the background, but give you good insight as to how often things start up, for what looks like no really good reason.
between that... I only have 4 home screens and try not to have too many widgets that auto update...
also...no sure about your phone, but my vibrant had the wifi calling app on it, and that thing was a resource hog...~20% battery usage on avg...had to forcefully yank that one from my phone...
good luck
All 'smartphones' barely last a day under heavy use.
There is no magic app that will change that.
Turn off wifi + data and use it only to call or write sms and you will get 2-3 days maybe.
Juice Defender definitively. You'll not find out there better than that. If it's not enough for your usage, you should buy a spare battery and switch between them
Defender or more simple..
Juice Defender best. but sometimes, it can be confuse for newbie. Then you should try Deamon Controller, it is simple. You adjust wake and sleep Mhz of cpu, that's it. Don't forget Wifi, gps, data, bluetooth, sync etc. switch-off.. good luck..
juice defender is definitely the best. some say it kills the battery more than it maintains it. but a good app to use for sure!
No, battery saving apps are a joke.
Install BetterBatteryStats and take a look at your wakelocks. See what's killing your battery. Don't install a battery draining app to help save the battery... makes no sense.
Look into lowering your Wifi TxPower if you enable Wifi alot. Look for guides and tips, there's plenty out there.
I went from 7% loss overnight to about 4% after locating and removing evil apps and installing alternatives.
which battery saving app is good for i9000?
Is any REALY good program to make battery keep longer? i can turn off wifi and so on myself, i dont need program to do that. i want something realy helpfull

Buy a new battery 2600 mAh or 3000 mAh.
Maybe i will buy laiter. But what about program
ive used both juice defender and green power battery saver. both are decent in my experience. im currently on green power and i get an additional hour or two which lasts me a full day of rigorous phone use
I instaled Battery booster and my battery now was alive for maybe 30h~ . i didnt use very much my phone but still, its awesome. Because usualy my battery drains out in 10h~ or less. Maybe its because i changed rom, from acura rom to thiaz and raized battery stats. but now my battery is realy better. I instaled ram optimizer too.
juice defender ultimate in extreme mode is the better solution! My stock battery after 2 days is still alive!

I have the same and i can't keep it for 2 days, what do you do?
Just use power max (best battery saver period) and install an auto killer and you will see a major boost in battery. Plus, install fast reboot and set it to where it works when screen turns off and on

i instaled juice defender. its awesome. my batery works x2~
I used battery calibration . It worked great for me but you have to have root on your device
Try Bataria from market. Works great.
power max does its job pretty well
I really need a better battery life for my business phone. My last 3 androids have all had a 20% battery by 3pm....
All of the battery apps claim to turn off network when screen goes blank and so on... however I still have bars of service imidiately after turning screen on. Will I still receive phone calls?
Root your phone, under clock when screen off and manually turn off your interwebz...
Rooted MT3G XM-8 Even Moar Stripped with XDA Premium..
FB is one of the bad culprits. I generally use Autokiller on strict to tweak the Android process things and it works good.
Did you try Juice defender? It's the only one I've tried and works fine so far. My battery last 30% longer after using it, and it wasn't tweaked.
If you don't want the hassle of underclocking, then just go for apps like Green Power and Juice Defender. Set it to turn on every 15 minutes during the day and totally off during the night when you sleep; you'll be surprised how much time you can squeeze out of your battery.
You must use battery saver pro or juice defender and task killer
Okay, task killing apps randomly won't always improve your battery life, for an example, if you kill let's say a play on tv app which is a system app, you might end up wasting more battery as it re-starts.
Juice Defender
I can personally vouche for Juice Defender Ultimate. I love this app, it's always the first I install when I get a new phone. It's saved me at least 3 hours of battery per day. I have the extended battery upgrade on my HTC Rezound, and I used to be at around 30-40% after a day at school (somewhat heavy 4G use, like listening to Grooveshark, browsing the web frequently, etc). Now, with the same, if not more usage, I'm at close to 60% by the end of the day, and it lasts me usually until around 9 at night.
So, Juice Defender=awesomeness. And you're going to want the Ultimate version for extra settings, definitely worth it.
I personally found that Easy Battery Saver which is free on the market gives me the best battery life even better than JuiceDefender which I found hard to believe till I saw the results. My Motorola Atrix has really bad battery life usually only lasts me about 5 hours without the app but with the app it lasts up to 8 or so which is a pretty swell improvement if I say so myself.
I would also say that Juice Defender is a good app... saves quite alot of battery.
but all of the apps using data in the background (facebook etc.) are the battery life drainers
Use juice defender
I use Juice Defender myself. works fine. you can edit what you want on or off. Also memory killer works but you need root

I can second the votes for JuiceDefender - it's done wonders for me.
For the rest of your questions...
Even when an app is toggling your data connection for you it won't affect your cellular connection. You'll still see bars of service (though without a data indicator next to it like "3G" or "H").
You will also still receive phone calls and text messages as (again) your network service remains untouched. Emails or other data services will be delayed until the app enables data.
Try out Bataria. I really notice a difference using it.

That's weird, I got about 1 day of battery life with my Atrix, sometimes 2 when I disable data from time to time.
Which rom do you use ?
Anyway I also use JuiceDefender.

it depends what version of android it has with 2.2 or higher i read that they manage memory pretty well so the task killers might actually take more battery rather than save it. If your Phone 4G you will save alot of battery by turning it to 3g and only turning on 4g when you need the speed

Task killers are never necessary on Android. Apps to manage and toggle data and radios are far more useful - and can be quite beneficial to your battery life.
Hey guys, I know hussainmicromaxa60 has recently posted a battery saving tip post, (copied from cnets post) but really what cnet said isnt of much use. i.e switching off GPS doesnt save battery as android only uses it when it needs to, the rest of the time its off anyway. So I thought I post a youtube video here with the tips I have found actually useful:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sUAlbkvlVQ8&feature=youtu.be
The tips are to use programs like cpu spy and betterbatterystats, to find and stop partial wakelocks,
switch to 2g when you are near wifi
Use an app like screen filter when indoors or and at night
And finally check sync intervals for apps and change them to a longer time period.
Let me know what you guys things of the video.
best battery life
I have read the new forums that wipe battery stats would extend battery life. I have tried that repeatedly yet I'm not so sure that he does. The jury is still out on this. Perhaps someone that knows better can advice.
I have also read in some forum and I think this comes from T-Mobile, that wiping battery stats does not actually extend battery life.
The only certain thing is that if you want better battery life you must buy a better/bigger battery.
Well, I'm sure some applications can really help your battery (Juice Defender, Green Energy, etc..), however, I gave up all that and I'm using common sense (not a market app).
So, only use wifi when needed, wifi drains battery really fast. Same goes for the use of 3g. Sometimes it's like a taximeter when you turn it on.
Brightness, it does spend battery, keep your screen confortably visible but not on max brightness. Don't know how far "self adjust" works for everyone, but CM7 allows you to personalize the self ajudsting methoods more to your needs.
Voice calls don't spend much battery, what does spend is apps, games (specially the ones with nice graphics and stuff), network, and so on.
I don't listen to music on my phone so... I'm not sure how much battery it takes to use it as a mp3 player, however I have an iPod for that, so I avoid listen to mp3 on my phone.
GPS... hardly use it... only when needed.
So, for all the "extras", only when needed seems to to do the job.
Also, disable "vibrate" when you don't need to. Like, cm7 vibrates on some awkward ocasions, like when you pick up a call, hang up, etc... if you don't need it, disable.
It's really personalizing your rom options to the point where you don't need additional features just for the sake of having them turned on.
Use your phone and features on a "when needed" basis and your battery life will be be longer.
Also, widgets, they do use battery, and sometimes, more than needed. The ones that use Internet (wifi or 3g) use more battery. Facebook, twitter, etc...
One more thing, about the CPU governors this time. I usually keep mine on a on-demand. When it runs low (under 20%), it switches to "conservative". It does get sluggish, but you get a few extra hours out of it. It's usefull for emergency voice calls.
Try to "underclock it" when not using (screen off, charging, etc..) and use overclock if you're really sure you need to. Most of the times the max allowed cpu without overclocking is more than enough, unless you're a performance maniac and need the best of the best performance out of it, there's really no need to overclock it.
If you play a lot with your phone (like me), at least keep a usb cable or a charger with you.
Hope it helps
PS - Some apps allows you to customize the way your phone spends battery. I find Juice Defender really cool for that. Spend about 20 minutes tweaking it for your needs, and the next couple of days with final adjustments and you'll notice improvements.
nice

I have tried several battery saver, but all the same .. no one gives optimaliasasi on my samsung.. sorry for my bad english
wiping battery stats will not improve battery life.
screen brightness is the major reason for battery drain. so keep the brightness as low as possible

Things like juice defender ect can be helpful i guess but i have never seen much of an improvement, in terms of wiping battery stats, all it really does it to allow android to read with better accuracy the amount of juice you have left, so it does not increase battery life at all.
Things like cpu governers etc is quite advanced, and I dont know really much about it, but as long as you keep under control misbehaving apps, switch to 2G when needed and dont have apps checking every 15 minutes for new data, you can get through a full day, no problems.
Also, keeping your battery in good condition always helps. First few charges, charge overnight, first week or two never let it go below 50% charge, and keep total discharges to an absolute minimum, and you should have a battery that wont degrade too quickly.
