21/May r1.1 - MoDaCo Custom Kernel (MCK) for HTC Desire - Desire Android Development

I've rustled up a MCK (MoDaCo Custom Kernel) for the HTC Desire, based on a configuration that myself and Teknologist have built up over time.
THIS KERNEL IS PACKAGED WITH THE MCR R3 RAMDISK and as such probably won't work on other ROMs!
It's not undervolted, underclocked, overclocked or anything like that, it's just tweaked and massaged to run your device as nicely as possible as well as giving you the extra cool stuff you need like support for EXT4, enhanced support for Wireless Tether and suchlike.
It'll be included in future MCR release, but for now, it's an update zip to apply via the recovery image. Enjoy - feedback appreciated!

Not as is... because the RAMdisk is configured for MCR.

Tested and functional on the ported CM506 for Desire.
So far so good, nice work Paul
ps, any news on updated CM rom for desire?

Does it fix the BT issues?

DO NOT APPLY this kernel.
paul has confirmed at modaco forums that there is a failure in the clock speeds and that he will release a r2... it will stay @768Mhz so it will drain your battery faster. wait till r2.. pretty sure it will come fast

The new kernel gives support for ext3/4? Does this mean that the stock kernel does not support ext3?
What will happen if I'm using stock rom with ap2sd+ and I upgraded from ext2 to ext3 while installing ap2sd?

i second this as well... apparently superbad 1.6 is said to have a better battery life..
If you want to use the newest SuperBad, all you need to do is download any overclock kernel for 32A like pershoot's or dumfuq's (or mine) and flash it after flashing the 32B version of the ROM and it will work, for instance I'm running chromatic 2.1 on my 32A with no problems
i only found cyanogen kernel so far
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=681165
so just flash this on top of the 32B ROM? sorry to ask this again but i just want to confirm once again before flashing
thanks for the answer
Yeah that's the kernel I ported. SuperBad is a heavily customized version of cyanogenmod but it still uses cyanogen's kernel. I know for certain that everything should work.
alright, thanks rps13!!!

it's definitely working i can say.
just flash the kernel on top of the rom. this superbad is fast and very smooth in my opinion. however the battery life is still poor.
because superbad 1.6 base on CM5.08 T4 , I thought that you can try to change boot.img with CM5.08 T4 32A roms, my tim G2 is not here , I will try it latter

Can we flash this Kernel on CWM3 & then flashed the De-oxidized pre-rooted rom?
If not, how do we make it work on EXT4?
Thanks Dameon... I can't imagine why we still want to support RFS,since you were the big backer of EXT4 in the beggining, and we have all proved it safe. Just want to see the kernel as clean as possible... And I can't wait to see you put out an OC/UV kernel.

Didn't work for me. Shows the stock "Android" logo flashing over the boot animation and then the phone freezes and keeps soft-resetting. Followed the directions to a T, guess it just doesn't like me.

no use the one click root from the link i provided. it will install cwm 3 once you reboot and convert everything to ext4 automatically. then all you do is flas the kernel.

Hm interessting, really want to try but, can you tell us more ?
Is this kernel made for performance and it's OC ?
Or is it not OC by default and can give us better battery ? I really search a kernel for a good battery life : )
What version do I need for HTC Sensation?
Remember to give THANKS were THANKS is due.
Try to install this kernel on TripNMiUI Beta, get the bootloop
I'm sorry it would help if I would read a little more. I found right Kernel, flashing now.

Works fine on cm7 for me. Although battery drain seems high, will report back after a full charge discharge cycle.

using what benchmark app? quadrant is laughably useless on these device. seriously, run it several times in a row -- your scores will vary wildly. That is the definition of unreliable. The app may as well be a random number generator at this point. Also, it never bothers to use the second core.

It's tested on CM7. The MIUI ROMs at this point (and really a shocking number of other 'AOSP' ROMs) are drawing far too heavily on Sense to work well with this kernel (or the kernel packed in CM7 for that matter).

[Kernel] Astrum Andromedae (v1.0)

This is a new Custom Kernel I started a few days ago. Using Samsung's source as base, I'll go adding features one by one. I'll try not to add a lot of things, but just enough to have a good battery life and performance.
Features:
Overclock up to 1083Mhz.
Kernel HZ: 750.
Voodoo sound driver v10.
1% Battery Mod.
Lagfree governor.
5 touchpoints.
Has Simple I/O Scheduler, optimized for flash devices and set as default.
Bootup progress bar enabled.
Compiled with arch-specific flags.
Root ADB.
Busybox.
Filesystems support (same as other kernels) and convertion.
G3Mod's ClockWorkMod Recovery & RZRecovery versions.
Toggleable Compcache.
Support for early init scripts (aka init.d).
Credits:
marcellusbe, for all he's done for G3.
Dharamg3, for teaching me almost all I know of Kernel developing, for creating G3Mod and all he's done.
Hillbeast, for working with me in G3Mod and teaching me some stuff from time to time.
Source code:
https://github.com/moikop/Astrum-Kernel
Changelog
Andromedae (v1.0):
Hillbeast's Data2SD support added.
Added one more CPU step: 1083Mhz (Only recommended when high performance is needed).
Alpha Centauri (A1):
"Pre-initial" release.

Yes. Seems to have a good performance, and yet not too much to overload the cpu or have significant effect on battery. Still testing though..

Maybe not in the first releases, since I want to get other things working first (like overclocking). But yes, it will.
Don't know about Hillbeast's Data2SD system yet, but either way it's not a priority (since you can use an init.d script to do the same thing).
Great idea man.I think it is more usefull to make more kernels than "custom ROM's" which are copies from one or two

Very nice. Good luck.
I think its not so good to spiit the g3mod team, that was probably hillbeasts fail. I think its better to merge astrum with kyorakernel or with other words to rewrite g3mod with hillbeast.

G3Mod is still on foot. Hillbeast and I will still bring support for it. Eventually there will be G3Mod updates (as long as the changes are significant). So users who still want to use G3Mod Kernel, they don't have to change. A little diversity won't hurt anyone, will it?
Please add CWM, most of users learned to use this recovery so changing now could be a little confusing. And CWM is used in CM too... having a unique recovery is better than 2 or more different...

RZ recover is a very nice recovery, nice colour profile, nice menu options, take a look at RZ recovery its really very nice recovery. We already have cwm 5, may be hillbeast is going to port cwm5 in his kernel, so there is no benefit of having same recovery in both kernel, and about confusion in recovery, recovery is not quantum mechanics, spending some minutes on recovery made it easy. A have a personal request please port RZ recovery. I think RZ recovery is ported to galaxy w and some more galaxy devices.

Other Kernels for [ROM][ICS][IMM76L] CyanogenMod 9 by ivendor - beta 2 ( I9001 )

Hello, i have downloaded and flashed my I9001 with [ROM][ICS][IMM76L] CyanogenMod 9 by ivendor - beta 2. I have a question about that rom. Can other kernels be installed using that Rom so that it can be overclocked and thus resulting in more performance. Im asking that because that Rom is quite perfect( ignoring the camera problem which after 5 pic gets jammed!). It would be nice if other kernels could be used. Im looking foward to know about it. Thanks in advance and cheers

You shouldn't use that kernel, it's very outdated. The only ICS kernel that is updated frequently is the CastagnaIT Kernel. I would recommend to use that one if you want OC/UV support
