Battery stop charging at high temp. - Touch Pro, Fuze General

i'm using my Touch pro as a GPS in the car, and charge it using the original car charger
but when the weather is hot the battery temperature gets high which stop the charging process, making the phone dead in less than an hour
is there any way to bypass the battery temp check while charging?

If there is a way... your battery will die...
why don´t you just leave it? wait till it´s cold enough again and charges... the battery will give you the electricity you need... and always charging is not good either
And you can remove your battery cover to let it get colder or put it in front of the air conditioner
cheers, stephan1

it's a feature that prevents your phone from blowing up.
Don't think of a way to bypass a safety measure, think of a way to cool it down.

Yes... that´s exactly my opinion

I used TomTom yesterday
I found out that when enough sats it's totally okay to cover it a bit.
Okay, i have a glas roof, but even the falk navigator didn't work better in this situation!
I drive a Citroen C4 Grand Picasso and I placed my htc in the computer section there.

i jerry rigged up a great device for holding the phone against the a/c vent nearest the windshield to fix this very problem.
altho my phone doesn't do GPS anymore anywa..

Hot car dock

Does anyone experience extreme heat while plugged in? I know this has been discussed elsewhere bute I like the idea of a dedicated thread. Mine gets as hot as 50°c or 122°F. That's blistering hot to me. Does anyone knows if google plans a fix? I'd be happy not to have to worry about my phone frying in the cradle.
Totally not worth a dedicated thread since it's being discussed ad nauseum in the other thread.

Where are you measuring the temp from? Mine gets hot in the car dock too but not overly. I figure google will have tested it. So am not really concerned.
If you want to mitigate the heat while it is charging in the car dock, simply minimise what the phone is doing. ie no nav/gps and screen off. You could for example do this 5 or 10 minutes before your destination and it may be somewhat cooler when you take it out of the dock. Obviously this may not be appropriate as you might need to use it at this point. Just a suggestion though if the heat is a real concern to you.

Well If that's the case then mods please move the thread or merge it. My phone gets really hot and I'm measuring it with juice plotter. I Guess it's pretty accurate.

I am sure is accurate. But I would only get concerned myself, if the phone case itself was alarmingly hot and I feared something was melting or burning. I am not worried about what Temp battery apps or the inbuilt Testing reports. I figure the phone system will shut it self down or reduce load if thresholds are reached.
yeah that's right. But anyway I do not think a temp of 50 celsius is exactly healty for the battery. We do not all live in Alaska and it might get mighty hot in southwest texas or southern Italy... In addiction I think the warmth has something to do with the screen as pretty much EVERY TIME I take the phone off the car dock the screen calibration is all f'd up. I seldom experienced that before but now it is 95% of the times I take it off the car dock. Sometimes even when plugged into the dock.
I love the phone and the dock, and this is maybe the only one glitch I found so far, but is really very annoying when it happens.
If anybody could help I would really appreciate that.
Also, any answer like "put it in front of the AC outlet" to me is pointless. It should not get that hot. period. and owning a Camaro it is not that easy to figure out a good spot to glue the disc on, surely not near an A/C vent...

I don't have the official Nexus One car dock but I have a car dock. Mine is pretty hot after I take it out. GPS on, dimness auto on, screen timeout off, audio to stereo, and charging.
I would say it's not the docks problem but rather its the heavy use of the phone. I've read this is normal on the nexus one since it's got a 1ghz processor. Heavy use = heat.
I've got heat issues in Phoenix but I'm confident it will be fine this summer.
Ironically, i DO live in Alaska, and noted it was a bit warm charging, playing music, and using GPS navigation.

Battery too hot, phone wont charge?

Using the phone while tethered to my laptop.. i got a message stating the above.. Is there anyway around this ridiculousness? I remember the Touch Pro had this issue at first as well.

First of all this is wrong section..
Second of all this is not ridiculous..this is how physics works...It is not the limitation of the phone, it is limitation of Lithium-Batteries...when charging and consuming a lot of energy like say with WIFI it causes Lithium batteries to heat up...at a certain point your phone stops charging to prevent the battery from exploding...this has been the same with ALL phones as long as they use Lithium batteries.
Solution: Put your phone on a metal platform..the metal platform will act as a heat sink and should alleviate the issue.
I remember there was a phone that was blowing up in peoples pockets when the battery came in contact with metal. Or was it the ipod touch?
But anyways you better give your phone a break too. Pull the battery for a minute and put it back in and Plug your evo in and let it charge off for like 15/20 minutes and then it should be ok to turn on. But if you wanna be safe just charge it while its off until its done

Temperature protection in car?

My job has very strict security and I am not allowed to bring my phone inside, so my options are leave it on the car or leave it at home. I have to travel a fair distance to my job, so prefer not to leave it at home, but I am concerned about extreme heat and cold in the car affecting my phone. Any suggestions for protecting the phone while left in the car? My work days can range anywhere from 8 1/2 hours to 16+ hours.

the heat itself shouldnt do anything if your phones just hybernating i suggest just putting it under the seat or the glove box were the sun cant get to it.
I think the thing you might need to be concerned with is the battery... extreme temperatures can adversely affect battery life/longevity. Would you be able to just bring the battery in if you removed it from your phone? I imagine the security issue with the phone primarily has to do with photographing or otherwise transmitting private information, such as trade secrets, right?
Yea, I can't see any real issues with leaving your phone in a car with hot or cold conditions. As said above, it *may* affect battery life, but even that would be minimal, barely nothing.
If you're concerned, wrap it in a blanket or towel, this will stop it getting either extremely hot, or extremely cold.
I also think, that it could get too hot. I would put it in a cooler bag. (without cool akkus or something like that.. just in the isolated bag (you know what I mean ? Those for a few beer cans.... )
But this also shouldn't be necessary, if you place your phone sunsafe...
Thanks for the suggestions. Yes, the phone ban is for the reason above. It shouldn't be an issue to take the battery though. I will also try an insulated cooler. I always use a sunshade as well. Even worse than worrying about my phone is the agony of being separated from it for such long hours at a time, lol.
Thanks again!

[Q] BenQ E72 battery hacking?

Hi!
Long ago, I owned a Benq E72 that my wife washed out. I tried to dry it up and it worked for a while. Then it died...but I never threw it out I just had the feeling that it was the battery.
You see,the phone or accesories are not sold where I live nor I have a way to purchase online, so I tried to hack every single battery that laid on my hands.
Last night I got a generic mp4 battery to power up the phone, but it turns out I cannot charge it .
If the "SERVICE" pin on the battery is not making contact, I get an "invalid battery" message after about 30 sec of charge and it stops. Otherwise the error reads "battery temperature too low, aborting"
As you can imagine I can not spend anytime checking the unit so I am asking you if you know how can I either force the unit to ignore the battery status or fake whatever temp the unit needs on the battery.
Thanks in advance!
If you still have the old battery, try to get that charged with a charger that is not caring about the temperature sensor (simple universal 2-pin LiIon charger). It may just be that the E72 is too sensible.
If that does not work, then cut it apart and replace the circuitry of the original one with that of a replacement battery. Chemically there is hardly a difference and only the protection unit and access to the temperature sensor is different for each battery. More advanced (or bigger) batteries may even have digital circuits built in to identify the battery (like in a laptop), but for mobile phones I guess that things are quite simple.
Be warned: Messing with circuit protection may get the battery on fire or explode, so only do that if you know how to supervise the first full charge.
Hi tobbie! Thank you so much for the reply.
I still have the original battery but I am not sure if it will hold a charge.
When the phone got washed, I spent an hour tearing the unit apart and drying it up but forgot about the battery. Then I realized my mistake.
I dried it up and it worked for a couple of hours. Then the phone started to go off on its own.
It got to the point where if you hit the power button, the SMS and power LEDS start blinking non stop, like it tries to go on but can't.
I will do some more research on your tips, they are quite helpful!
Thanks again
You should really be sure that no whatsoever residues are left in phone after the washing (and drying) process. I would take apart the phone completely and clean all parts of it from e.g. left over detergent.
It is much more probable that the phone has a damage than the battery. Circuitry in the battery is quite robust compared to the complex electronic in the mobile phone.
My battery died almost a year ago, since that I'm using something practical but not very appropriate
I used a Samsung AB553446BU (3.7v 1000mAh battery) and a pair of thin wires. Following the polarity of the pins on the phone, I put the Samsung battery and secured it with a piece of paper. As I said before, it's not appropriate but it really does its job!. If you can not solve your problem, try to do something similar if you get a battery that is compatible with the BenQ E72, the battery I'm using has given me no problems I can even charge it from the phone without having to use a universal charger. I'm not having "Invalid battery" messages or "High/Low temperature" warnings.
But as tobbbie said, "It's much more probable that the phone has a damage than the battery".
Oh wow! tobbie AND nickleby helping me in the same thread, what an honor!
I did exactly what you did nickleby! But mine is not that fancy, more like thin copper wire taped to the battery
The phone seems to be OK, I left it overnight and it did not go out (when the old battery dried up and worked, it will stay on for no more than 4-6 hs).
I am 100% sure the phone and battery are dried and clean, the "incident" happened at least 3 months ago.
I am pretty sure I can get your battery model for a few bucks right where I live.
Although I currently own an android tablet, I really miss having my WM smartphone
One more time, thank you guys for all the help!!
Getting the Samsung battery prooved to be impossible.
I was not able to find a 1000mah samsung compatible battery in the whole city.
I did however found 960mah batteries that were compatible with the same models.
Originals were almost as expensive as a basic phone, so I opted for a Chinese knockoff which I just managed to install.
The original charger won't charge it, neither will some other chinese USB chargers, but a USB port is doing the job just fine.
I am so happy to have my WM6 phone back
I was using an LG kp110 which I accidenally fried in a pool, and had to use a Siemens A31 for more than a month!
Thank you guys!

[Q] Battery fried...little life left :(

I have through time noticed my phone being quite hot to the touch while it's being charged. Be it while in it's (condom) case or lying inadvertently underdeath my pillow while I sleep. My battery life was never great, but was sufficient, but I'm afraid now that it's at about %50-60 of what it once was.
I haven't treated this phone any differentyl than I have the other phones I've previously owned, but the durability of this battery is suspect! I'd love to get a battery replacement for it, but I don't think that's an option at this point.
Anyone else notice this? I've read another post where someone else noticed similar results with their battery life while charging their phone and playing games.
First of all, all smartphones gets hot while playing games and charging at the same time.
And charging the phone do generate small amount of heat, so do not put it underneath your pillow while charging. (shouldn't be hot to touch though)
If you are not doing anything mention above and the battery is still getting dangerously hot while charging, contact Google customer service (if its from play store) or your carrier.
*Do not use third party charger if possible.

Something all Android phone lacks is the ability to protect itself from overheating via charging or whatever like how apple did here.

Did you ever think about that this phone has a quad core processor that throttles at 70 degrees Celsius. That's 158F. Where's the heat going to go? Surely the heat will go somewhere but it will heat up the plastic somewhat.
FYI: shouldn't sleep with your phone under your pillow.
