switchs on immediately - HD2 Windows Mobile 6.5 Themes and Apps

hi friends.
for me the most annoying thing about hd2, it switchs on immediately even i accidentally touch its turn on button.
any app. to extend the pressing duration to 2-3 seconds?
thx vm.

Does it happen every time?
It should require pressing the red button a few seconds to power up the HD2. However, from time to time, it powered up one a single brief touch. I have no idea why.

Mine requires only an instant press of the red button. But it does require a press, rather than a brush of the button.

less than 1 sec. touch is enough to power it up.
i don't think there would be any software to extend the pressing duration (maybe ROM should be changed.)
At least HD2 can start up at flight mode to prevent accidentally openings.
any software/reg.tweak/idea?
thx.

I have the same problem and I believe many HD2 users also have this problem. Searched for a long time but still could not find a solution for this.
Based on the description of the "Power Countdown" program, it should be able to solve this problem but, after my test, it doesn't work in HD2......(cannot find the icon in the system tray)
Hope that some of the geniuses here can help to solve this problem.

I suppose this is normal, since both my Touch HD and HD2 just need a short press on power button to boot up.
This is indeed annoying when HD2 is in a pocket an switches on unnoticed in the airplane or during a meeting.
I searched the registry and did not find any reg-entry for this, which is somehow logical since the powerup must be hardwired (before power-up the system is not running so no tweak in the operating system possible methinks)

Stuck Power Button

Hey, guys, I've used this website for my Fuze maintenance for a while and it's always been great, so I have a quick query for anyone interested.
My Fuze's power button seems to be, in some way, stuck. It frequently activates the "Sleep/Wake" command, turning the screen on and off in the middle of some task I'm doing, and will sometimes even bring up the "Are you sure you want to power off", and if I press any button other than pressing "No" on the screen, it restarts the phone.
It does this even when I first turn on the phone, and is horrifically annoying. Is there any way to re-assigned the power button functions, to, say, the ptt button? Thanks very much!
Had exactly the same issue. Removing and inserting the battery, the phone would come on automatically.
HTC repaied the phone within 4 days, that including transit time.
They have excellent after care support with there warranty.

[REQUEST][App] Screen dimmer time out

Hi everyone!
Has anyone found a way (maybe an app?) to change the screen backlight/lock behaviour?
What I'm looking for is the following behaviour:
Ability to have the screen only turn off the backlight after a certain amount of time, with
a) option to lock the device at the same time
b) option to also turn off the part of the screen that reacts to touch at the same time
c) options to set the timers for the aforementioned options separately
Basically I want the device to turn the backlight of the screen after 30 seconds to save power, but stay responsive to touch so that I don't need to pick up the device and press the power button before I can use it.
Then, after about 5 minutes, it should lock itself but respond to key presses, so that it can be unlocked without needing to press the power button.
Then, after another five minutes, the screen should completely go off and stop responding to touch altogether (the way it is on Android by default).
Has anyone found a way to do this? It would be REALLY useful for when you've got the phone laying flat on your desk and are IM'ing with a slow typer, meaning you've got 2 or 3 minutes between each message, and need to press the power button every time you get one...
It shohuld be a default setting in my opinion...
Thanks in advance!

Power button not always waking from sleep on first press

Since the last update it seems that when I try to wake my surface from sleep, often the first press of the power button doesn't wake it and I have to press it again. Doesn't seem to be based on how hard or where I press on the button, and I'm extremely careful with my electronics so it hasn't been dropped or damaged.
Anyone else having this problem?
I've noticed this too, I just assumed it was my device being odd. I've actually thought it was dead and went to plug it in only to have it come on with like 70% battery.
reset it
go to settings->change PC settings->General->Refresh your PC without affecting your files.
i deleted the filed windows.old later and it is all good

its the new firmware...
After the recent upgrade you have to a long press to turn it on...
Same thing happening for me too. Not all the time but some time.
I noticed that it actually works on the first press, but takes some time to do. You just press it a second time before it can start the screen. May be caused by the new update though.
EDIT:
It takes about the same time to wake up like opening the touch/type cover. Maybe it got something to do with that?
1. Could be you're not pressing it firmly enough
2. Are you doing it right after you hibernate/sleep/shut it down? Because it takes a while if you do that.
3. Could be a faulty power button
4. I've had / noticed no problems in delay with the power button (could be it's such a insignificant thing to me that I don't seem to notice it)
I have de same problem since last update
Same Problem here.
I've occasionally seen this on my surface pro too. I think it mainly happens when I close the device and it goes to sleep or whatever and I try to turn it on again pretty quickly. But when you think about it, this is the same way a regular notebook would respond because it is still shutting itself down while you are trying to start it back up. We have just been spoiled with phones and tablets and expect an instant response.
If it is happening from a cold boot, then there might be some type of mechanical issue with your surface, because I've never had that problem.
it depends for me, if it is in sleep mode, clicking it once will wake it immediately, if it is hibernated, you need to hold it a little bit longer, it just behaves exactly like laptop's power button, if it is plugged, pressing once will turn it on too.
I have noticed the power button issue since the last update, I've also noticed my keyboard seems to disconnect as well if I use the device flat..
Same for me, but only if I didn't use it for some time.

This! Sometimes my keyboard goes wild and starts writing the last letter I typed in an endless loop (until I disconnect the touchtype keyboard
me too. to wake the device from deep sleep need a long press.
just a short press or use windows button is required if screen just turned black.
i called microsoft customer care and their devices did it too.
must be result of a recent patch
Do they consider it to be a bug though?

[Q] Power button faulty only when device is on

I appear to have trouble with my device's power button. I have a Pantech Sky Vega Racer 2 A830S which I took out of the box after a month in storage. It seemed okay the first few hours, but I started to notice that I could NOT put the phone into sleep when pressing on the power button once. It works like 1/10 presses. Sometimes, it even seems to do an extended hold even after just pressing once since the "power off, restart and sound profiles" popup appears.
Thankfully, the power button isn't doesn't seem to have a problem when the phone is off. When the phone is off, I can turn on the phone 100% of the time. Heck, when I remove the battery for a few minutes and turn on the phone again, the power button functions perfectly and I can sleep and wake with just a single press, no matter how fast I do it. Half an hour later it starts going haywire again. It appears this problem is truly isolated to when the phone is turned on. What could the problem be? It doesn't appear to be the physical power button mechanism. Could it be the battery or something power related shorting the buttons or something? The problem seems to be electrical in nature and I'm at the end of my wits here.
Any advice is appreciated. Thanks in advance.

hw button got jammed!!
try cleaning it up
be carefull!!!
Yeah I'd get some can air for computers and spray it. You may just have a piece of dirt lodged in there. In the mean time you could download an app that can put your device to sleep when you click on it I believe.

[Q]broken power button.

my skyrocket has a broken power button. it has been finniky for a while now and basically will not boot the device 9/10 times.. with the combination of volume wake and search long hold to shut off screen I can live with it BUT I cannot get it to boot without taking it apart now. I am wondering if there is a software way to automatically have my device turn on if it has the power/is plugged in.
I do have another skyrocket (fully unjiggably bricked) but I think the transplant of the power switch will be to big a task.

Something like that would have to be created. That would need deep code changing, kernel hacking most likely. Just get your hands dirty.
Here's a video to get you started: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pKXRQFRH1eU
haven't checked the video so be careful and take your time and don't do anything you're not comfortable with.
Hit the thanks if this helps!!
re: battery issue
Its not at all surprising. Even in my skyrocket, I've experienced the same issue with power button. Finally I had got it replaced and believe me that was really much easier that having to put up with the 1000 failed attempts in trying to get that power button work once. The repair guy actually changed a spake power button within 15 minutes. It wasn't difficult at all .
To switch it on .. Its gonna have to be a pain because it involves a kernel change.. But if you have booted up you can use the software solution, play store these apps .. They are similar to the assistive touch on iPhone .. TouchMe , assistive touch, easyTouch
