Hi I’m pretty new to this. If I may can I ask a few questions? I search the internet first but I haven’t found the answer. First I flash to Dutty ROM 4 and work great but it’s always trying to connect to Gprs network but it doesn’t? I just load up Garmin XT it only works if I have the phone in airplane mode? If not in airplane mode the phone lockup? Also when trying to use Gps tries to connect to Gprs? Thank you for looking

Have you tried looking in the forum where you got the rom from? I bet they can help you more there? Just a suggestion.
i had the same problem on my kaiser, just use kaisertweak to disable the aGPS thing. and presto =) ..
thank you Isaygarcia
hey guys, i'm still having problems with Garmin on my Kaiser with Dutty's WM6.1 ROM. i had no problems before installing his ROM, but now the program just quits after the splash screen. I've tried reinstalling multiple times and tried turning off aGPS.
any other ideas?

Try disabling HTC Home in your today screen then soft reset...see if that works.
Nothing.
Thanks though.

Try using Dutty's Hybrid and see if the problem still exist.
alright. i'll try that tomorrow and see what happens and then report back for anyone else who may be having this problem.
Also. Don't forget to hard reset after a flash. I've seen the constant attempts to connect to gprs and Media Net before. Hard reset. Always hard reset after a fresh flash. Read dutty's wiki which is on the second post of the link attached. This is a very good rom. I suggest you try it.

Well, it starts up, but now it won't see my internal GPS receiver. it only looks for an external bluetooth one.

No problem. Let me know how it goes. When you first start using it. Run Quick GPS and hit download. It may have already downloaded. You'll see what I mean when you open Quick GPS. Then run GPS Test. The first time you run GPS Test it will take a few minutes to get a GPS lock(top right of the screen it will say FIX and 3D). Every time after than it should only take about 30 secs. Usually I run GPS TEST then I run tomtom or Garmin. GPS Test gets faster locks. Let us know how it goes.

This is not normal behavior with Quick GPS, fix hould be near-instant, less than 10 seconds. Even the first time. Dutty's ROM takes 4 minutes to fix the first time, no matter what Radio. The following day same thing. Original ROM is 10 seconds fix. Tell me what's wrong where?

Quick GPS doesn't make any locks. Quick GPS only downloads data that knows where the satellites should be and only helps other programs find a lock faster. Maybe you were talking about GPS test.
You're right that locks take longer with almost any rom aside from an OEM rom. It still shouldn't take a few minutes after you get your first lock. If that's the case for you I recommend changing your radio. My radio works well after the first lock. So have many others for me. Try them out. See what you get.

I understand quickgps loads the positions up front. What the problem is though is that the first fix takes 4 minutes; of course afterwards it's quicker, but then leave it for the next day, it's 4 minutes again. The whole point of QuickGPS is to get it in 10 seconds.
So I tried with the original Radio ROM 1.27.12.17 and follow-up versions in the 27 series: low and behold: QuickGPS gives a quick-fix! But unfortunately this original Radio ROM doesn't work properly in WM6.1 - no sound issue.
i installed the latest dutty rom and i'm back to the original problem (garmin quitting after the splash screen).
i installed the rom and then got everything else set up how i want/need it before installing garmin. i think maybe some other software is interfering with it? but that doesn't make sense because i don't have anything on here that i didn't have when i was running WM6.0 with Garmin working.
I'm sure it's a compatabilty problem with wm6.1. See if there is an update available for your garmin.
i guess that would make sense since it started up on dutty's hybrid rom.
i'll check for an update, but i think i have the latest version.
Okay so I'm finally going to request assistance from the xda community for a problem that I seem to be having that I cannot resolve. I live in California and my provider is ATT and of course I'm using the HTC Touch Pro (Fuze.) And I'm trying to get my GPS to work. My phone is hard flashed with the Elite RC4 ROM and I've tried a couple different radios being:
1.12.25.19 - Raphael Radio from Test rom
1.14.25.05 - Newest Raphael Radio
Neither of these work because after using QuickGPS to download the data I have used HTC GPS Tool, GPS Test, and VisualGPS to 'kick start' my GPS and none of them work. I would like to note that I was on COM4 and tried two different baud rates being:
38400
4800
When I try to get a lock (I've waited for 5 minutes or so standing outside) using either of these radios after about 10 seconds I get the horrible 'Fix not available' status message even though HTC GPS Tool shows a visual of the satellites, although they're red dots and not green.
I would really like to get my GPS functioning again as it used to work when I was still using Elite ROM RC1 and I wasn't really sure what radio I was using since I didn't mess around with it. Any help would be greatly appreciated! And Elite's RC4 current ROM auto configures the GPS settings for what I assume is optimal lock-on time.
Do you have Google Maps installed? My GPS didn't work at all until I uninstalled it.
No go...
I just tried it out and it still does the same thing. I would really like to use my phone as a GPS because I like to travel a lot and do some geocaching and even though a dedicated GPS would be nice, I have a perfectly good one built into my phone already and I would like to be able to take advantage of that.
aGPS?
Does the elite RC4 include the aGPS panel in Settings? AT&T finally got aGPS working, and if that ROM doesn't include the updated aGPS SuplRootCert & corresponding registry settings, it may not work correctly. I'll try and track down what you need to get it working, which I believe to be the following:
rilphone.dll from AT&T Test ROM
SuplRootCert for AT&T aGPS
AT&T aGPS registry settings
There may be a few more drivers involved, but I'm not exactly sure what they are. I'll look into it and see if I can pull them from the AT&T Test ROM and cab them up for you.
That sounds good! I've been ripping my hair out and scouring the forums for similar problems and such, but I've had no success. If you could cab them together that would be just great!
There are cabs for the rilphone.dll , I'm not sure about the other two. Here is the link to the rilphone.dll cabs. Post one has the raphael 1.12, post two has raphael 1.14. Make sure you use the right one.
Yeah I actually tried using the rilphone.dll for the 1.14 already and I still get these results.
I'm having the same problem, GPS isn't able to get a fix either.
Tried several ROM's: Proven 4.1 & 4.2 as well as Energy 3.0 however getting same problem.
Deathstar aGPS Fix
I flashed the elite RC4 ROM, so I could verify that GPS wasn't working for me, and that the cab would fix it.
It turns out, the ROM includes the aGPS confirmation package from the AT&T Test ROM, as well as the same QuickGPS version & rilphone.dll (1.12.25.19 radio). The only things missing were the correct AT&T registry settings, and the SuplRootCert. I obtained the reg settings from a cab At0mAng posted in the aGPS thread, and the SuplRootCert came from an EnergyROM thread. I combined them into this cab, and was able to get a GPS lock.
Give it a try, and let me know if it works for you.
P.S. Just wanted to note that I was able to get a GPS fix with the ROM prior to installing the cab file (w/aGPS disabled). So your problem might lie elsewhere, if the cab doesn't work.
Problem is GPS is turning on & off like a blinking light. Tried several applications: Visual GPS and Navigon. Can't try your solution since I have a Vodafone NL subscription
Okay I tried your cab and still no go, I'm going to try flashing my radio again to 1.12.25.19 with the rilphone.dll for it and see what happens. Thanks for the help so far, I really hope to get somewhere with this soon. And it sounds like that Wolfje and I are having the same problem.
Edit: Alright, tried 1.12.25.19 and the rilphone.dll for it and it didn't work, and then I tried installing the cab you put together for me again and tried it once more but it still doesn't work.
It's not the radio version 1.11.25.01 what's causing the problem.
I just switched back to an older Proven ROM 2.4 with WM61 and problems are gone however radio version is the same.
Hmm That's interesting. I have really grown attached to Elite ROM and I didn't want to try another, but I may give it a shot to see if it fixes it. I've actually been using Point UI's Home 2 as my interface. So I won't miss out on too much I suppose.
Please let me know if you've got a WM 6.5 ROM with working GPS since the Proven ROM is a WM 6.1 one
Problem seems to be Navigon Mobile Navigator, got GPS working with both Igo8 as well as Sygic now.
try proven rom wm6.5 4.3

Try any RRE 6.5 rom....aruppenthal's roms have the aGPS working correctly... and i personally recommend the 25.19 radio...you dont have to worry about getting the rilphone, its already cooked into the rom

There's a handful of crucial components for proper AGPS support:
radio rom > 1.12.xxxx
gpsdriver.dll + gpsid_htc.dll from 5.08 at&t rom
suplrootcert from 5.08 at&t rom
agpsnvsetting = 1 in registry
then you need the registry settings for proper agps server, port, APN, gprs connection name

. . . my previous cab was missing a few *crucial* components necessary for aGPS to work properly for AT&T (bolded above). Attached is an updated cab. However, as I previously posted, I could in fact get a GPS fix using the RC4 ROM, so the problem might be elsewhere. It couldn't hurt to try, I guess. Its also possible the cab won't install on the ROM (because it includes DLLs, though they are signed), but it'll tell you that when you try. Let me know if it helps at all.

edit: nm, did more testing and found thoses server are expired and not really working.....
Guys, I have a rather stupid question, and feel free to flame my newbness on the question all you want, I'm just trying to find an answer, for like monthes now...
I have NEVER been able to get my GPS to work, not even once.... It's been a problem for so long, that I eventually just told myself, well I guess I have to pay AT&T for that..... but I don't see why that's the case....
I have tried all of the programs, HTCGPSTool, QuickGPS, Google Maps, etc, all with multiple ROMs.... Right now I'm flashing the Official Update to see if I can get it working with that, but I'm truly dumbfounded.... It has never once, ever gotten a lock, or even found satellites.... It's making me want to bring my fuze to warranty center to try and get a new one
Information about my device:
I have installed HardSPL, usually run EnergyROM latest build, with Radio 1.14.25.05
I've had the phone since last Nov so something different has always been running on it, and not ONCE has my GPS worked for me....
Any ideas?
Thanks
Try first turning on ChartCross GPSTEST (in GPS folder on Energy Rom) wait for lock and then turn on your desired GPS program. BTW Google maps only works with aGPS (needs internet). I recommend TomTom (what I use), iGo or Gramin.

I recently gave up on the hit and miss of Pocket CoPilot v6, and now I just load GPSToday to run in the background to get the sat connection and now PCP works like a champ. FINALLY!
Can't wait for v8 this year!
I would like to confirm that TomTom is infact the bomb, works perfectly
I'm using version 7.915.9196 with USA and Canada Maps V-830.2323 reccomend anyone to check it out
garmin is so much nicer than tomtom. the interface is prettier and easier to use. it does cost alot though. i thought it was worth it.

i would recommend u change ur radio to 1.12.25.19 and install http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=468249 <-- its a program called fusion GPS that gets a lock upon restarting ur device so u wont have to wait for that long dreadful first time lock. also that Radio is the best GPS radio i have found so far, works even faster with aGPS, i have used that radio and i get like 3-15sec lock outside and 30-80 sec lock inside my house, depending on if am close to a window or not

it always keeps timing out after the five minute interval.... maybe because my data connection doesn't auto-start on boot.... any way I can make that happen? but even when i do go start it, it still times out... seems ChartCross has been the best for me, and with aGPS, it will get a lock pretty quickly

I've had this exact same problem when also running latest Energy rom with radio 1.14.25.05, (I also have a lot of problems keeping a constant wifi connection even at full signal but thats another story).
This morning i flashed back to my original stock rom (vodafone uk) and although i had to wait FOUTY FIVE minutes for my first GPS signal i now have no problems with the latest version of TomTom and my uptodate USA & Canada map (i now live in Montreal)
Im going to run the stock rom for a day or two to see how it should run, then switch back to the Energy "Magic" rom as i really like that one out of all the 6.5 Roms.
Very strange.
Still the only way I can get it to work on a cooked ROM, is to use ChartCrossGPSTest.... wait until it says GPS Running, and go launch TomTom, leave ChartCross minimized
OK, so I've dug around the forums and have yet to really find anyone who had a similar issue and wasn't able to fix it with either FasterFix or GPSStatus so thought I'd start a new thread. If anyone knows this answer and knows it's in another thread then let me know and I'll shut this one down...
Anyways, the issue in a nutshell is that Maps refuses to work without "Wireless Networks" being checked (it throws up an error that tells me to turn on My Locations or to turn on either "Wireless Networks" or "GPS satellites" even though GPS sats is checked in the settings) and even then the accuracy is horrible (on tower-based, which is more or less to be expected since it's a triangulation, I believe), Navigation/Locations will both get a location but it appears to be "Wireless Network" based, GPSStatus shows a max of only 3/3 sats even outside on a clear day but no other app sees those even those 3 sats. I basically think my GPS chip is locked up. (Is that even possible?)
The GPS issues started one night on CoreDroid's V5.0 after working for quite some time on CD's various builds, including working on 5.0, so I flashed up to 5.1 and still no-go. Wiped everything, reflashed 5.1 and still nothing. Moved over to RCMixHD 5.9 and it still acts up. It used to be that I could uncheck "Wireless Networks" and it would just bounce off of the GPS sats but now nothing seems to see the chip. I've wiped everything, reflashed numerous times, flashed a new radio (the latest Mar leaked GB radio), gone inside, outside, around the house, around the town, etc etc etc, cleared the Maps cache, uninstalled/reinstalled Maps, reinstalled Locations several times, reset the GPS state with GPS Status, redownloaded the GPS data w/ GPS Status, changed out the gps.spade.so file in CoreDroid 5.0/1 with one from the Inspire Dev Forum (I think, may have been General) that modded files based off of FasterFix files that were supposed to fix the GPS if FasterFix doesnt (the files worked for a whole one test...then everything quit working right again) and I've reset the NTP to North America's server via FasterFix and STILL nothing. I'm getting rather frustrated at this point and any help would be appreciated. Thanks guys!
How about flashing back to stock Rom?
Sent from my calculator
What would the advantage be? I mean I've already flashed different ROMs and gotten the same issue so part of me doesn't care to flash another couple of times but another part of me wonders why it'd help any since it's just going to be overwritten when I flash back to RC or any other custom. Will flashing to stock somehow reset the GPS. I know flashing to stock is generally one of the first suggestions but I've always wondered how it actually helps. Guess I'm off to hunt down the stock on my computer while I wonder lol...thanks
Did you use RUU to get back to stock Rom and radio? RUU does more than just flash the Rom. It flashes the radio to stock. Only reason I'm saying this is cause someone else had Gps issues and when they went to stock unrooted, everything worked as it should.
Sent from my calculator
Do a forum search for inspire RUU. Should come up.

Awesome, thanks. I was unaware that the Inspire had an RUU. Well, most RUU's I've run across have been packaged into a program like ODIN but I think I can do the RUU manually via ADB. Hopefully they have a program out, though. Think all my stock stuff has been done via ADB and the Hack Kit so I'll dig around for an all-in-one program. Thanks!
Sadness...no such luck even on RUU stock.
Just curious, what method did you use to do this?
Is this the same one you used?

I have been having similar GPS issues on my stock Inspire. After a long HTC customer service call, I was advised to do a factory reset on the phone. Voila, the problem appears to be solved. I now get 8 or 9 satellites and lock in about 30 seconds. Also, after this reset, my battery life is much better. So, I am not sure what bug I eliminated in the factory reset, but I accomplished something. What would affect both battery and GPS? I know this is not the same as for a rooted phone, but perhaps there is some connection. By the way, just what SNR do users with solid GPS performance get on GPS Test? I never get SNR over 25 on any satellite, whether indoors or out...
HtcOmega,
I helped another person with an inspire, so maybe it might work for you too, Try the link in my sig and see if replacing the gps.conf with one of mine may help you. It has been very successful so far, it might help with your dilema as well. And if your going to ask whats different about mine then fasterfix app, the answer is alot.
Let me know.

I was having the same issue as HtcOmega and decided check out your link. I must say that my GPS is working as it should now. Takes at most 30 seconds for a lock without the case on. I flashed the north america zip instead of choosing the north east version. Is there any reason why you wanted people to choose their specific region?
Primarily the reason is I broke up the USA into 6 regions and made a script for 62+ individual countries because I am not using the generic ntp servers from the pool, these are ntp servers specifically for that location, and by narrowing down the location and not using a general ntp it should make lock times faster. If you read the thread for the most part quick reading you will see that the NA script is made primarily for people who travel to many places frequently and do not want to keep changing scripts, as well as people in the common wealth countries would use the NA script.
I am currently testing out 1.2 with a handful of beta testers to see if the new script can be a little more consistent, there are new commands in the new script, which is phase one at least for the HD2 since the HD2 is a prt and lacks the support for true agps.
Hello,
I upgraded to CM 7.0.2 and can't get lock on GPS when using google maps navigator. I tried using GPS Status and reseting GPS data, using MSL Reader does not work since Inspire is not CDMA which reader seems to work with. GPS Status and GPS Test work at locating GPS satellites.
Did anyone have the same issue and found fix for this?
thanks!

Try being less of a jerk please.
While those scripts do help some, it's not the end all be all fix.
I was in your situation... somewhere along my happy flashing i lost my gps capabilities. I decided on cm7 but still had a broken gps. I flashed that script using cwm and now my gps is perfect, better than any gps from my previous phones. I do suggest downloading gps status after you flash those scripts. It'll download some agps data and hopefully your gps will lock on flawlessly from than on. Good luck.
Thanks guys! Will try using the script.
For the person that said he flashed the script and it worked flawlessly on CM7, which one did you actually flash? South East or North America...
I was in the same position before with CM7 and GPS acting up....did both of those and nothing changed really...
now i just freshly re-rooted my phone after having my parachute savior of going back to ATT STOCK completely...(saved it since i know if all else fails i can always go back and go back to the drawing board)...
I want to carefully chose my roms and also i would like to go back to radio that i originally had...so that's my next step.
