G1 FUBARed - G1 Android Development

My G1 is completely FUBARed, as in hard bricked. It just wouldn't turn on - previously ranged from buttons not working, just a lit black screen, won't get past the T-Mo G1 splash, and even after I went to CyanogenMod (thinking it was just a firmware/software/OS issue, it would even freeze on the CM recovery screen. I've tried many different things from taking the batt, SIM, SD card out in different combinations - plugged in or not, restored all the way to 1.0, NAND restore, put many different mods, radio, SPL, you name it... I've just ordered a new OEM battery just because it's one I haven't tried yet (I've had 3 different batteries before this, one stock and 2 third party). PLEASE HELP because I'm in contract with this until November. D=

[HELP]: Rogers Infuse now AT&T? I'm under Rogers!

Hello,
I read several threads over the span of five hours to still be left where I started (almost). I will explain the background to the situation I'm in; and the question will be clear towards the end.
A few days ago; my phone would not turn on UNLESS it was plugged in (wall/computer). I found this very unusual of course, and contacted Rogers. They explained that it would be a software or hardware issue; and to check if it's a software first.
I quickly backed up all my photos and things onto my computer, and began the Factory Restore tool. However; it did nothing besides clear me of all my apps; and settings (of course), yet I still remained at 2.3.3 Firmware.
Rogers continued to say to use Kies, and try to fix it through there. Then I completely forgot that my Infuse is with "EZUpdate" which is not even being picked up by the program itself which I later downloaded. I sat back in my chair to think for a bit, and thought; oh my goodness; a firmware update could have been a jail break I installed a few months ago (learning it's called Rooted for Androids). I instantly began looking online which led me to this site, and eventually learned that I can "un-root" my phone.
Now I'm in bigger trouble. PRIMARY QUESTION/CONCERN BELOW
I downloaded the GTG_s_Ultimate_Unbrick, and it actually worked. My phone turned on without the USB wire or anything. Then a sweat quickly rolled down the side of my face when I saw "AT&T" with a bright white screen. Shortly after it followed to the white "Samsung" with black screen background. After that, nothing else happens.
I am losing hours of sleep, and I work in three to four hours from now trying to figure out how to return this back to a Rogers phone.
Everything I'm trying from links like http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1326143 and it's failing. I'm on the verge of tears that I have actually lost a phone that barely lasted me six months; and it's too costly to replace.

Please help, I beg of you. If there is a solution; or a step by step process; please post here. I will get back to you as soon as possible when I return from work. I have already pinned my thread, and will be returning to it regularly.
Thank you very much for any future assistance, and have a wonderful day/evening in the meantime.

Replacement touch screen unresponsive

I'm fixing an infuse for a friend who needed the screen replaced simple enough job so I thought as I repair phones and electronics as kind of a hobby. However the replacement screen isn't responding to any kind of touch at all. It displays the puzzle piece lock screen and everything else even shows there's been some missed calls ect. yet will not respond to any kind of touch. I think it's a calibration issue but I can't get passed the lock screen so there's no way to change the setting. Honestly I'm most worried about all the media on the phone most (pics, videos, contacts, ect )
If there is a way I can retrieve that off the internal storage I'll feel better about taking drastic measures. Other things I've noticed is an unusualy long boot up time hanging at the white Samsung letters but this is the first time I've dealt with an infuse so I'm not to sure on that.
Any advice is appreciated.
Thanks,
s1im
There are different versions of screens or maybe it was revisions. At least for the LCD +digitizer assembly. Rev.6.1 and 6.2 and 6.3 if I remember correctly.
Edit....here is a link for reference, also two of the screens were interchangeable but not all three. Sorry I don't remember which ones.
http://item.mobileweb.ebay.com/viewitem?itemId=180914982430&siteId=0&isClassified=false
Edit....my statement regarding interchangeability may not be true. The screen I bought could be used as a replacement for two of the rev numbers. That could mean that it is backward compatible but the other one isn't forward compatible.
The link said this item has been removed, but to be clear your saying not all revisions of screens can be used as replacements that you must find out which rev your original screen is?

Correct mine had a sticker on it.
Bummer I have no idea what kind of screen she had I threw it away as a jumbled mess is there any other way to find out what screen it was... either way thanks for the replies
Wish I could answer that, but here is another screenshot. It shows one for 6.0/6.1 and another for 6.2 so my original numbers were off. Did the new one say what it is?
Do you know of any way to retrieve the pics and other media off the phone without being able to unlock the screen

Just guessing but maybe adb. You could try to edit the title of your thread or start a new one about this question.
Edit..I have an idea but first a few questions , is this phone stock, and would you be comfortable flashing a kernel if it is? This will give you CWM recovery which has mount USB storage as an option in it. All this can be done with the physical buttons, power and volumes.
I found something that may work without having to make software modifications so I'm going to try that first and if not I'll get back to you...
To answer your questions tho the phone is stock and I've rooted /flashed a couple phones with no problems before so I'm OK with giving it a try
Again I'd like to thank you for your continuous help
You should be able to pull everything you need with adb...but the problem is, is adv enabled? And can you pull a whole directory? I doubt you know individual file names for each media file, not to mention that would be a long tedious process as there are likely well over a 100 if not in the 1000s of music/pics/vids
Well..looks like you can pull a whole.directory (sdcard)
this thread may help http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=744454
Btw...you don't have to be rooted to adv pull

UPDATE: I took the phone back apart finally after some grueling hours of adb research that lead me almost in circles and found that the replacement LCD is a rev 6.2 and that the revs 6.0/6.1 are the universal more common screens in the u.s. infuse. I decided to return the screen and get the other rev in hope it will be that easy...
I'd like to thank the 2 above members that gave me help especially adfergurson for sticking with me and my ?s I will post back when the next screen comes in to confirm it worked for anyone else needing this as future reference

ADB was the first thing I thought of, but flashing a kernel with custom recovery in Odin should allow you to get into USB storage. I am not familiar with the stock recovery but you could see what options are there. I believe it would be from device powered off hold volume up+volume down+ power buttons then release power at Samsung screen.
Were you able to resolve the screen issue with the different version? I am having the same problem.

[Q] "GooPhone i5c" Flashing issues (bricked) Need help

Before I begin I should mention that I have been scouring the interwebz for an answer and while I've been to XDA forums multiple times with no avail, I still feel it is the most appropriate place to ask.
Basically, like many people I've seen on XDA, I've purchased a "GooPhone i5c" from Aliexpress. I put that in quotations because I believe from the research that I've done, the phone I have is a knock of (of a knock off) and no GooPhone ROMS have worked so far.
I'm lost and seeking help, the phone is in a state of complete death, pressing buttons does nothing (no screen back light!), my computer does seem to recognize it, however. Basically, when I plug it into the PC, I it's recognised as "MTK USB Port (Com 5)" and that's about it. The phone was working when I originally got it but being stupid like I am, I attempted to flash a new ROM with no knowledge of the process whatsoever. It was stupid and I don't plan on doing it again.
I've attached a little image with the specs rundown from the Aliexpress page. What do guys?

Help with an odd Japanese phone (Urbano L02)

Hello, recently i bought a few Japanese phones from a rather good seller off ebay, one of them, is of course the topic of this thread.
The phone in question is a Kyocera Urbano L02.
Upon powering it on, I'm greeted with what
I assume is a lock screen (as i can't actually read Japanese) So the next option would be to hard reset. But, this is where the problems begin
I have tried every different combination to get to system recovery but every time, the phone boots up to the carrier logo, and then just goes dark until i let go of what ever key I'm holding. Upon release, the phone boots up again like normal, as if something is actually "blocking" system recovery
I have seen this happens with other Kyoceras online, no matter the model, and every article i saw was never actually answered.
So what do I have to do? I've exhausted every option so far that my limited experience has granted me, At the very least is there a pinhole reset? I collect phones and would rather like to have this one working, and not be a paper weight.
Maybe it's better to post the lock screen here. Perhaps someone here who can read Japanese may give a hand to you.

Strange behaviour after a little fall

After a small fall, the phone exhibits a strange behavior: sometimes the touch freezes and if I turn off the phone it doesn't turn on again: it gets stuck on the "powered by exynos" screen. If I unplug the battery or wait for it to drain completely it seems to work again, but then suddenly, even after days, it freezes again.
A loose connector or a damaged mobo.
Always use a good case to reduce the G loading on impact from drops.

Sorry for my english but what is a mobo?
I suspected a loose connector but how I can find where is the problem exactly? If I can...
Now when I put in charge the phone i see the circle with the charging symbol (the lighting bolt) but i don't see the green animated circle and the charge percentage indicator.
If i try to reboot it appears but the phone still gets stuck.
Moreover I forgot to say that it is impossible for me to access to the recovery screen.

Mother board. It needs to be pulled apart and examined, hopefully repaired.

Yeah.
It may be just a loose connector.
Even a good case isn't a guarantee a drop won't damage a phone. However in 8 years and many drops none of my phones have been damaged.

I hope so... I will try to open it and see what happens ... If it is a loose connector I think I will see it... If it is the mobo I do not know if it worth it to bring the phone for service

You could speak with a local repair shop and see what they want to look at it.
Without hands on it's impossible to say what the issue is.

These symptoms sound similar to the kinds of troubles with which I have had some limited success, by using the old refridgeration trick. See this post and the one that came after it in this same thread:
S10e bootloop despite flashing with Odin
To give some context, my S10e (Verizon SM-G970U) decided to boot loop out of nowhere. Since this happened, I have factory reset the phone, no success. I brought it to a local repair shop who said they couldn't fix it. Now I have flashed the phone...
