[MOD] Remove Vibrate on Call Connect - Fresh 2.0d - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

EDIT: This mod was based on Fresh 2.0d. For updated mod including both 'remove vibrate on connect' and 'remove end call soft key', based on the final Sprint 2.1 release, see here.
This is a quick little mod I've had in place on my phone for a while now, and have just been too preoccupied to post .
When I had the hood up on the Phone.apk for removing the 'end call' soft key, I ended up making this mod as well shortly after. This simply removes the little vibrate the occurs right after you 'send' a call. Some people find this annoying / distracting. If you are one of them, this mod is for you.
This mod also includes the above referenced mod for removing the 'end call' button on the in-call screen, referenced here. It has both, since, well, that's the way I like it!
Download Here <---Flash signed zip via recovery.
See here for stock phone.apk with the only mod being 'vibrate on connect'.

Thanks for that, I do find it annoying. I'ma give it a shot.

Don't make me blush .
Just realized as a nice little side bonus, that this also includes a simple little icon tweak that has annoyed me for a while, and that is the little green in-call icon in the taskbar, which seemed too large in my opinion, and over crowded the taskbar when present. I re-sized to fit better, IMHO.

I actually like the small vibration. It indicates that your call is connected. Handy when driving.

or when you have very little service and aren't sure the call's gonna go through (or when you forget to actually press send ). Much better than sitting there with the phone to your ear waiting for it to ring when it never does

You really are making the Hero a better phone, one apk at a time!
Thank you for this. With your work, my Hero is almost absolutely annoyance free!! Keep it up

I think it has something to do with the confusion of a MOD and a FIX, but to each his own. Not sure how I feel about this change, but I do like most of your other MODs.
Keep 'em coming!

While I hadn't planned on releasing multiple versions, I decided to knock this one out over lunch break.
Attached is the stock phone apk with no other mods other than the remove vibrate on connect.

No hate hear sir. You doing a great job. I just commented cause I thought some might not understand the purpose of the small vibration once a call is connected. Probably most find this annoying and your fix will do the job.
Ive read that theres something we can flash to get rid of the haptic feedback from the dialer). Is this your creation too??? If so, where can I get it?????

Amazing, just amazing. Thank you for this it has been extremely useful since I talk on the phone while playing M.A.G. and my cheek tends to hang up on whoever I am talking to when I start yelling at the other players. On second thought that was probably a good thing, lolol.
Anywho Thanks for this I love it.

Just a quick question:
Any chance you can remove the vibration from the vanilla 2.1 lockscreen? That's the vibration that REALLY annoys me

Phone no vibrate mod.
I am sorry everyone, I can't figure out how to install this mod. Do I have to be rooted? A little guidance would be nice. I unrooted to get the Sprint 2.1 update. Thanks.

[MOD] Htc Dialer WITHOUT Haptic Feedback - Updated 5/26

EDIT: Updated 5/26/10 with new version supporting any Sprint 2.1 official release that has been deodexed. See Here for download.
By popular demand, I decided to take a look at the HtcDialer.apk today to see how easy it might be to disable haptic feedback while dialing a number. Turns out, it was a 5 minute job
Should work on both the latest DC and Fresh 2.1 ROMs.
Flash the attached signed zip if you prefer to disable the haptic feedback "feature". Always Nandroid before flashing. It could bork your system, but it seems to be working fine for me. YMMV.
No Haptic Feedback Dialer
Note: This will change you back to the stock dialer format.
EDIT: Here is a no haptic feedback dialer with black buttons

Well, 90% plus of the people here, me included, complain about hanging up on people by hitting their face on the 'end call' button.
The goal was to eliminate the issue, but in doing so, I unintentionally removed additional elements. It'll still work for this, but I gotta see if I can tweak to bring to other 2 icons back into play.

This would be ok if you could turn it on/off (either the pad or the end call button) but as soon as I have to call 611.............or at least a number that won't send me somewhere if you don't press "1" for English...
Can we get a mod that brings back the keypad but leaves the contact card off? my face likes to conference call random people from my contacts list.

[MOD]Remove 'End Call' Soft Key While Call in Progress - Updated 5/26 for Fresh 2.1.2

Updated 5/26/10 with new version supporting Fresh 2.1.2. See Here for download.
Okay, some of you saw my initial failed attempt at this mod, for removing the 'end call' virtual key / button on the screen, while a call is in progress.
The purpose of this mod is to prevent accidentally hanging up on a caller, by having your face press the 'end call' virtual button. There are even apps in the market to try and address this, so I'm guessing the issue is widespread for people.
On my first attempt, I inadvertently removed the entire bottom row, which was problematic, as it prevented you from being able to enter numbers, etc, during a voice prompt.
I was unable to find a way to remove JUST the 'end call' button, without removing the entire bottom row, so I decided to take a different approach, which is the end product posted here.
This approach seeks to simply disable the key press event on the 'end call' key. This way, we don't have to worry about removing the button, just disabling its function. As a result of disabling, I then went and removed the 'End call' text from the button, and turned it from red to gray, to essentially show it as disabled / non-functional.
To end a call using this mod, simply press the 'red' end call hard key on your phone.

[MOD] Remap Sense Rosie Buttons - MT3G Style Launcher - Updated 5/25 for Fresh 2.1.2

Attached are a few modified Rosie.apk files for remapping the bottom sense launcher buttons / functionality.
EDIT: Updated 5/25/10 with new versions supporting Fresh 2.1.2. See Here for downloads.
EDIT: This post revised on 5/8/2009, reflecting the fixed version. Some of the posts/comments that follow are referring to the older (original) version and no longer apply.
The first attachment (RosieMT3G.apk) moves the phone launcher button to the left, the app drawer, with fully functioning up/down (open/close) arrows, to the middle, and replaces the 'add shortcut' button on the right with an 'open contacts' button, similar to the functionality found in Zenulator's MyTouch 3G ROM.
The second attachment simply removes the left / right buttons, leaving you with a center only button for opening / closing the app drawer.
This will NOT modify your launcher graphics (in the first example espresso & second example a custom droid style launcher), as this is controlled in com.htc.resources.apk, however, it will switch out the icons (as shown), on your current Rosie / launcher, null out the 'Phone' text, center the launcher icon, and of course, remap the buttons.
What this does/will give you is the entire sense experience, but with a more 'Vanilla' launcher like functionality. For some, the best of both worlds.
Known Bugs:
None currently!
Push the desired apk to your phone's '/system/app' directory, or drop on your sd card and click to install.
You may want to backup your existing Rosie.apk, should you wish to return to stock.

EDIT 2: If you are designing a custom rosie using a concept / look similar to the stock HTC 3-button rosie, see here for an alternative XML file to replace in any of the attached apk files, to adjust the spacing used between buttons.
NOTE: After downloading your desired apk, rename to 'Rosie.apk' before pushing to your phone.
I decompiled Rosie yesterday and found a few .smali's to play with, but I got lazy. LOL Which ones are you looking at?
Edit, another suggestion would be downloading Zen's My Touch rom and rip apart Rosie from there. I loaded it up last night, but the 100% always on was killing my battery.

Yea, it's much easier to edit our existing rosie than to port over a different one using a newer/modified framework.

I took a look at it, the framework is very different. Almost like apples and oranges. The bug is more related to the way I "hacked" it to work more than anything else.
Thanks for getting this working, now i can use the theme i made for zens rom the first day it came out, cus i really liked how it just looked cleaner, and the button mapping makes more sense logically. Thanks again.
Re: [MOD][WIP] Remap Sense Rosie Buttons
Thanks. It's by no means perfect, but it's a decent start.

Ha! Honestly, I'm not happy with it yet (it needs to be functioning perfect), but I don't have a lot of time right now to dig in deeper, but I'll get it eventually. However, it is good enough to be functional at this point...

Haha like Trev, it seems like you poped out of nowhere and all we see are threads with mods from you.
Sir I am impressed. Also I remember posting in the 2.0 lockscreen thread before anyone made it when it was just talk, saying that meh its pretty simular to the 2.1. But I was wrong its definitely a nice upgrade.

Quit being selfish nebenezer, i need a sensei more than you. You can just pay ME and ILL be the apprentice, and that way we wont have to fight over apprentice rights. Dont worry, ill keep you updated with the status of my progress; thanks in advance for your cooperation

MyWife and Kids for puttin' up with meh devin' lol.
LostEden inspiring work and I might still have something of yours in my themes lol.
Pendo for his market and keyboard contributions.
TheImpaler ditto
Zapote21 for the original Nexus-S icons-way before anybody else had them I kanged them from him.
Instructions
You need a custom recovery this is no longer a stock OTA.
Wipe first is always a safe bet.
Make Backups not a good idea to rely on one that's been rolling around in your trunk a while.
Flash from recovery.
When setting up the phone you will have a couple of reboots when opening certain apps for the first time don't worry it only does it once or twice.
I have enabled JIT on mine playing around if anybody else would like to try it flash the enabler.zip to turn on and the off.zip to well turn off.
JIT-Enable
JIT-Off
Some peeps have been asking about speed and battery with this ROM, here are some benchmarks.
Version 1.3 is live!
DOWNLOAD
Not everyone is in a position to donate but everyone is in a position to hit the THANKS button.
I've been using the other themed one, but I'll give this a try and report back as soon as I get back to my notebook. The blue theme looks great.

Looks pretty good from the screenies, downloading now. This probably would also work for the 32B users with the 1.33.0013/1.33.0013d SPL's and the 2825 radio. Someone could be a guinea pig!
EDIT: OK, so first impression is really nice work. Couple of suggestions though. Could you change the background for the text messaging app to black with white text? I just think it would go along with the theme a little better. Also, what about changing the color scheme for the power widget to match? Outside of that, looks really good with my wallpaper.
Not having much luck with these screenshots I'm trying to put up so I attatched some more.
No I haven't but I'll check it out. I'm not sure, but I'm almost positive your going to have to remove the Swype.apk, forgot to mention that in my last post. I'll check out 1.2 when you get it up or I might wait for 1.3. Hmmm...I didn't even notice the background around them until you said something.

You know what there are ROMs all over XDA with Swpe and nobody says anything. The way I look at it is it came in there this only works on a phone that came with it pre-installed it's no different than it being in the sappimg. It doesn't even work if you pull it out of this build. It won't work if you change anything. ROM , phone , hell build.prop doesn't tell it what phone it is Java does so nobody can make it universally working it only works on the phone it came pre-installed on. i am not distributing a hacked apk in any way.
Version 1.2 is live shouldn't need to wipe if coming from 1.1.
Add the phone icon in the dialer and the phone icon in the notification bar during a call. You've like given me a license to kill, except its to nitpick your ROM....kinda the same right? The text for when your downloading something is showing up black in the notification bar as well.

I'll get the text for downloads in 1.3. Which icon in the dialer? I know about the green one that shows up what is the other one you referred to?
The actual call button in the dialer. Bottom middle.

Okay here's the power widget I just made it more transparent and turned the green blue. Version 1.3 is loading up now. Oh and the download text is fixed also.
The dialer I want to do something different to when I get a chance. It will be nice.
Sweet, I'll grab it when you get it up and the link updated.

I just tested the DownloadProvider code edits and somethings wrong I've seen it before but I need to work on my other machine to fix. So if you see it don't worry will release a patch shortly.

Your progress bar won't be right it will be a spinner stretched out like a bar. Just for the notification downloads you won't see it unless you pull the notifications down.
Gotcha. Just got 1.3 flashed and I'm loving the mods to the power widget.

Great. So that's what you had in mind huh.
Precisely what I had in mind, I just didn't know it until you made the changes. I hope I'm not the only one using this? Anyone who is pleased with the update would love having this moded one. I really wish I knew how to cook to get in there and give you a hand with theming it and maybe tweaking it a little, but alas I am ignorant of the ways.

LOL you aren't the only one it shows about 40 or 50 downloads. Don't know why I don't have 50 thanks but I have the downloads. I just looked at my downloads and my green gingerbread theme is at 700 downloads that's more than double the blue one might offer this in stock green also.

THANK YOU.
I have a question though. Do I need to rename the zip file to "update.zip", or can I just flash it as is?
This is an excellent themed rom.
I have some problems with it, however. My home, search, and call buttons don't work. In addition, there is no lockscreen. I'm gonna try reverting back to 1.6, and reflashing to see if it corrects these problems. If it does, then we can help anyone else with the same problem set. More info soon.
