I am getting frustrated:/ - Touch Pro, Fuze General

3 days back i noticed that no matter how many times i press the power button on my HTC Touch Pro(Vodafone) the back light wont go off.If i keep on pressing it a power off message would appear asking me should i switch off my phone.By changing the power settings i had set it to Turn off the backlight after 30 secs(If not used).Which helped but the problem remains the same, after the backlight goes off it wont come back no matter how many times i press the power button:/.
It would only come back by sliding the Qwerty,as a result the Phone despite of the fact being turned off is using power and my phone dies off after 3 hours or so:S.I tried resetting it by Clearing the Storage(7 times) but it didn't help. After i which i opted to Hard reset it by holding down the Vol & Enter button and then pressing the rest using Stylus, but no matter how many times i try it the stupid Vodafone startup screen would appear and it would not(Tried it when the phone was on).the phone simply wont shut down,i tried by pulling off the batter, but once the battery is in it would start all by itself:/(In this way i cant hard reset the phone while it is off:/:/).How can i hard reset it??Somebody please help me!!!!
P.S:I have unlocked the phone so that i can use it in here.

Sounds really weird... maybe you can try executing task29 and flash a new rom....
but I'm not sure...

Do you mean HardSPL? You could try flashing a stock ROM to the device after putting it in bootloader (hold volume down and press reset, keep holding volume down until you get the tricolour screen).
This thread should really be in the 'General' section...

@Ben
Sorry mate i am a new user of this forum so didn't knew in which section should i place this thread, apologies for that.
From where would i find a stock ROM and how would i flash it(Procedure in detail)? And after flashing this stock ROM would i be able to restore everything using Sprite backup?
Thanks in advance!!

Follow this guide if it's your first time, and as long as you've already backed your data up (which you should have if you were doing a hard reset anyway) then you should be fine with Sprite.

Go to the HTC website and download an original ROM from their support page.
Oh and when flashing back to stock, make sure you flash stock rom/radio first, before you remove HardSPL (see guide one post above)

Unfortunately the ROM available on HTC's(3.27.4.3) website is not supported by my phone(The text field after verifying my S/N number prompted that the ROM is not suitable for my phone). What should i do now?Shall i take the risk and give it a go??My only concern is that i don't want to end up with a locked phone after a ROM flash:/
P.S:Apologies for bad grammar.

My phone is Vodafone HTC Touch Pro GSM(Unlocked)

just give it a go. and flash it. you cant really even brick these phones. so your not losing anything. even flash a rom without the sprite backup built in. you can always get the cab

Download rom from sunnysoft, there's no Serial number check in there.

I doubt it as he can still power off by holding the button down. Sounds like a software problem to me... Is it the same for you with regards to powering off?

Help - Crash?

Tonight at 12 midnight my phone crashed.
On my screen now all I see is the following message:

Could this have something to do with the NAFT Rom I was running.
Above the message I see the windows logo in the upper left and then the word Start - but nothing works when I click on those. In addition when I try to sink to my computer it does not connect, so I can not explore using ActiveSync or even going through My computer. I am stumped on what to do?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks
Same here, Just stopped working a hour and a half ago, (12:00 AM EST 03/01/09)
I am running a custom radio and RRE Fuze Edition.
Same as above. Why the hell do developers even put this **** in.
Guess your having the same problem as the guys with ROMeOS with the 21009 build...
It was leaked so it was beta, and ms put a timebomb in it. You need to install a new rom from bootloader.
I'm not using ROMeOS, I have RRE Fuze Edition. (Well it may be, I frankly don't remember what one it was. Thats what displays on that start)
Is there anyway to not lose my data?

WHY would NAFT (or anyone else) use the program if this is a possibility?
Can you please explain how to use the bootloader to install new ROM
This is SO frustrating. I am on a business trip!

Yea what I meant was apparently its also affecting other roms because they all used the same build (21009) in their rom. Anything on your phone is gone. I THINK the sd card is safe
****ing ****, why the hell do devs do that.
Ya SD card is obviously safe, but last time I did a backup was like a month ago (Ya i know...)
God damn this sucks.

Yea your going to have to install a new ROM buy downloading it and then putting the rom onto the root of your sd card. make sure the rom is RAPHIMG.nbh (and you only need the .NBH) Then hold vol down and reset until the tricolor screen comes up. It'll scan the sd, find the rom, press power button to flash.
Hope it works for you
P.S. dont forget to hard reset when your done!
P.P.S they most likely didn't know that this was a beta build that ms had put a timebomb in. Just another one of the reasons that people should really take the whole "flash at your own risk" thing seriously

how do I put ROM on the root of my sd card. I can not see the card on my phone because when attached it does not recognize the phone at all.
Hard reset after flashing? How come?
Sorry that im not more technical, ive had this phone for months and yet ive barely messed around.
It's just always recommended to hard-reset after installing a new rom. It's basically to ensure that you won't have any bugs or such.
Make sure you do it at the right time though! Wait until you get to the "Tap screen to setup device" screen. Then hard reset, which in case you didn't know is vol down center button, and reset until the tri color comes up, then vol up to reset

Have you tried a HARD RESET (hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER (center) Buttons, press the RESET button with the stylus tip, then release the RESET button but continue to hold the VOLUME DOWN and ENTER buttons until the reset screen appears)
Havn't tried a hard reset but I guess I might as well, gonna lose everything anyway.

You don't need the adapter. Just put the phone in bootloader mode by turning the phone on while holding the volume up button and flash like you normally do. This is how I usually flash so that I can skip all the activesync junk.
Hope this helps!

what I have done is hard rebooted and reinstalled factory defaults to at least get the phone working. but after coming back up with the default settings, the phone automatically reinstalled NAFT's ROM, which then put me back at the crashed message. going to try again.

Wow... talk about getting defensive.
Define doesnt boot. Does it power on at all? Can you get to the bootloader?
Sent from mALL GLORY TO THE HYPNOTOAD!!
To load a bootloader:
Remove the Stylus.
Remove the Battery Cover.
Press and hold the power and volume down buttons
While holding the buttons insert the tip of the stylus into the Reset hole located on the back of the device to the right of the USB port (the hole is labeled with Reset).
The device will then Boot up and go into the bootloader (tricolor screen).

Htc touch diamond need help

Hi Lads,
My HTC touch diamond is doing strange, one day I woke up and suddenly it gave me a Red,Green,Blue,White screen. As I understood it's called bootlloader or something like that.
I tried reset+volumebutton after that it is starting normal and Ive got my phone back, but if I turn my phone back off its gaving me the terrible Red, Green, Blue, White screen back.
Ive tried to do a hard reset ( reset button + volume + round button) but then I have to press the volume button again to accept, but it isnt doing anything then.
Ive looked for some solutions but everything is chinese for me.
I just want my phone back to normal and I hope I dont have to loose all my files.
Can anyone help ?
Thanks anyway lads
Well, if possible, Backup all of your Data using either SPB Backup or Microsoft MyPhone, and reflash a new ROM.
This is what most users will tell you to do.
I think once a device encounters the Bootloader Infinite Loop issue, the only solution is to Flash a New ROM.
and how can I do that ? I am really a dummie at this point.
But it still works only if I put it back on I see the bootloader again.

Maybe HardSLP?
Any update on your progress?
Curious as to whether or not you got the issue fixed.
[If you can get into the Bootloader, you can Re-Flash your device.. just keep it plugged into your computer when you restart your device.]

[Q] CM7 Not Going Beyond Loading Screen AND Clockworkmod Is Black

A couple of weeks ago I decided to root my phone for the benefits it came with. I did so successfully and had no problems until I decided I'd let my curiosity get the better of me and try flashing CM7 onto my phone. I did so, and everything seemed successful, but I got stuck in a boot loop when I turned on the phone.
I know there are solutions to this, but they all involve either CWM or ADB. Just two problems: I can't use ADB because I forgot to leave USB Debugging on, and I can't seem to get CWM to do anything (it's just a black screen).
There are solutions to all of these problems individually, I know, but each solution relies on at least one of the others to be working. I've been surfing this forum and others like it hoping that someone else would have this problem and would have a solution for me, but I've come up dry.
I used attn1's Ace Hack to root my phone, and then I used Rom Manager to install CM7. Then I hit the loop. Also, my CWM was working prior to CM7.
Does anyone know what I should do?
Thank you in advance,
JW
Inspire 4g
P.S. - I'm new to this forum and don't really know the rules perfectly, so if I did something wrong, then please just let me know what I did and what I should've done. Thank you.
But you can still get in hboot right?
It sounds like you did not choose to wipe data and cache. You always need to do this when changing roms. Best way is to enter cwm yourself and select wipe data/factory reset and wipe dalvik then flash Rom.
Pull you battery for a little bit then try and get into recovery again. If you still can't get in then you will have to reflash your recovery through bootloader.
If all else fails you can use the tool in this link to return to stock. Then re root you phone. genes tool

No, I didn't think to. To be honest, I saw Rom Manager and thought I would just be able to click on what I wanted and have it ready to play with in a few minutes. I never read what to do before the installation, which was my huge mistake.
Anyhow, I don't think I can get into HBoot. When I turn the phone on with power button and volume button, it vibrates three times, but then it goes to a black screen. I read about this problem with CWM, but the only solutions I saw involved getting into your phone - which I can't do.
So I'm wondering if CWM still works but that it just doesn't show what it's doing. If that's the case, then maybe I could still manage to fix my phone with CWM. Does anyone know if such is the case?
Thank you!

this is correct, but you may want to pull out your sd card first. if it still has the pd98img on there,,, its just gonna loop ya. so pull it out before trying, you can always stick it back in once you get to recovery, then select mount> sd card

I5801 Bricked Without Flashing

Hi all
Yesterday, I rooted my I5801 (on Orange network) using z4root. Everything went as expected and I used Titanium Backup to remove all of the horrible Orange game demos/bloatware etc. After doing this, everything was working fine and I used the phone for all of today without issue.
I became curious reading about the key-combo for recovery mode and (stupidly) thought I'd take a look. I forgot the exact key-combo, so I just turned the phone off and tried holding vol up + vol down + home + power. Now whenever I try to start the phone, I get a yellow exclamation mark in a white triangle with the Android below. If I push the home button while on this screen I get an open box with an arrow pointing out of it and what looks like a progress bar below that, but it just takes me right back to the exclamation mark screen.
I can get into Download Mode by taking the battery out, putting it back in and holding vol down + power, if this helps.
I've read that it should be possible to reflash, but I really want to try and avoid this if possible, as I don't see why my OS would have died without trying to reflash in the first place.
Is it possible to get back into the OS without reflashing? And if I do need to reflash, can anyone make any recommendations?
Thanks in advance for any answers!
Welcome to the forum
First of all, thats a weird story you got there I have no idea what happened to your phone to be honest. The fact that you can get into download mode is a good sign, it means your phone is not hardbricked (yet) .
I really don't know how I would get around this problem without reflashing, maybe someone else knows a possible solution? I think flashing a new Rom (Android OS) is the way to go. Do you know the buildnumber of your current Rom? You can search for your current Rom in this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1063940. Download it and flash it with Odin via pc to your phone (while in download mode). That should fix it, its a pretty drastic method though.
Good luck
BTW: I'd prefer One-click-root as a method for rooting in the future, you need software on pc to do that. But thats my opinion.
Thanks for the reply! I'm not sure which build I was on.
I'm going to try and put on I5800XXJPU with Odin found here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1497261
Hopefully because there is no bootloader this won't hardbrick my phone!

In fact, I've just read that if you're going from Eclair (I was definitely on Eclair) to Froyo (which I believe that ROM is) then you need to have a ROM with a bootloader for it to work.
Guess I'll try Kyrillos!

Well yeah, I guess you're right... I still really don't quite understand what's up with bootloaders.
never heard about "coming from eclair, bootloader ROM needed for froyo update"!
My original FW was also eclair and I never ever flashed a bootloader!
But try and see if you get a brick with flashing a bootloader! I wouldn´t dare doing that, but it´s up to you.
I would open another thread and ask specially that question. Why?
Then you get more opinions to make your choice.
Good luck and keep us informed about the progress.
Sorted, I ended up giving the phone to a friend who is more phone competent than myself!
Here's the solution:

First of all going into download , must hold home + vol down + power , that's first mistake. Nothing bad happened to your phone yet , go and reflash any froyo with or without bootloader i did it countless times when no one on this forum had a firmware without bootloader starting from old JPF , yes there is a risk but the reflashing is the only solution Good Luck
