Android 1.5 settings file? - Android Software/Hacking General [Developers Only]

Hey everyone. Unfortunately my phone is still running 1.5 and the video recording quality is horrible so that made me want to change the encoding settings.
After doing some searching I found out that some settings are stored in the build.prop file but when I look through it I find there are hardly any settings for anything.
Does anyone where such settings would be stored in 1.5?

Higher res video cam

Hi guys!
Browsed the registry yesterday and found some stuff... the cam seems to have three settings for video resulotuion, high medium low, but there is only low and medium in the camera app, is there any way to unlock or whatever to be able to record higher quality (240x320 maybe??) vids? It might work fine if you run 240 mzh or more?
It seems that you can change the framerate too?
found it in hklm software htc camera
I have tried a higher resolution with a webcam app, but I don't remember the name of it. I think 320x240 still worked pretty good, higher resolutions were not really possible! So if you try to modify the registry, could you report back?!
Sure i tried some stuff yesterday, but it didnt work, ill work on it
found a way to unlock sports, burst and panorama mode in the cam app,
also managed to get 240x320 as a choise in video mode but when i select it the phone just "works" you know the round small rotating thing......
ill do some more research and then post all reg tweaks here... why havent anyone played with this before?
There is also this but it is buggy. If I remember correctly this allow to take higher res videos but the framerate is really bad.
Should be more people intrested in this...
Well i got higher res as an option in the cam app, but i think ill need a dll from a phone who supports higher res

Android Video Recording Hack!

[Q] Cannot record video on liberty 1.5

Hey guys I was trying to record a video on aosp camera and it would not record so I swithched to blur and the video camera just crashes when I hit record why is that I am on liberty 1.5
First go into bootstrap recovery. Then go to fix permissions . If that doesn't work you might want to re install the rom
I had the same problem. The problem isn't any bug or anything with liberty. Just go into the liberty toolbox > liberty mods > build properties > stagefright(this is whats causing the video camera problem) > Turn Media Meta OFF.
This fixed recording and playback of my video camera and my recordings. I've read more on stagefright causing more problems as well, but also having advantages for browsing web media content. Play with the settings to find what works best for you.

Download the file, extract it. move the extracted file to sd card.
from phone: using root explorer, locate extracted file, move it to system/app, you will get a warning message saying camera.apk already exists are you sure you want to overwrite it?
click ok
long press on camera.apk and change permissions accordingly.
USER: check "read" "write"
GROUP: check "read"
OTHERS: check "read"
reboot phone
I can't play the file on Windows 7. I have tried with many third party .3gp apps. But it didn't success. So which software do I have to play on PC.
And what about photo improvement as you did great job with the 2.1 one??? When could we be able to adjust exposure, X10 has quite big problem to take good photos without exposure adjusting during photo shooting...

Cheers mate. I forgot that VLC player.
When I compared to watch .3gp and .mp4, .mp4 video quality is better than .3gp

MMS settings
Hi ... as for 2.1 camera excellente job .... I can cleary see the improvement
As usual to change the audio may be dangerous for shyncronisation
One think I observed and I would like to suggest is concerning the MMS settings
Currently the format is 3gp but with size 640 by 480 ......
Trying differente sizes ... produce reboot when playing the video
Because of these settings the video length pemitted within the 300k standard is just 7-8 sec istead of the almost 30 sec permited with 320 by 240 or by using QIF smaller sizes......
What I wonder is if it would be possible to set the MMS video on 3gp but with smaller size or if it is available a tool (like the one used in the last 2.1) able to resize the mms video
Thanks
Is this the same Camera app that Wolfbreak has included as an update to his CM 6.1.3 v4.4?
If so then can you optimize the 720p quality please, since I get audio delays and the recorded videos also have lags in them. The 720p can be enabled by just clicking 'Custom' in the quality settings and although you see green lines and distorted images on screen, the camera app actually records in 720p
If you can fix the audio and video issues, this will be the final answer to _ALL_ of our camcorder woes
Camera uninstalled by mistake..
Any ideas on how to install the new or get the old one back on CM 6.1.3 v4.4. Should have just replaced the camera.apk but instead I uninstalled.
Update: Used flashtool to install camera.apk from Rendeiro. Thanks to him.
Install the codec from here...
http://www.windows7codecs.com
You dont need any 3rd party softwares.... Say thanks, if helped....

[Q] Steps to Modding Camera?

Alright, I'm running Android 4.1.2 stock rooted and cannot get this to work. I've tried adding things to build.prop, as well as editing the media_profiles.xml file with no results. Pretty much, I'm trying to enable 1080p(default is 720p) video recording and/or increase the bitrate to about 20-25mbps(default is 12mbps), but when I change either files it has no effect on the stock camera app, and it says "Record failed" when using apps such as lgCamera or Camera ICS whether or not I made changes to the following files. So pretty much, am I missing something? What places should I look to see where camera settings are stored, and how would I mess around with the bitrate an resolution within the SamsungCamera.apk?
