Good morning to you all.
Im sorry if this has been mentioned before, but im hoping that some one can help and point me in the right direction.
Does any one have or know of a programme for the HD2 that will get rid of Programme Names in the remove applications settings.
I have a couple of names that refuse to remove no matter what i do, Ive tried installing and then reunistalling the programme, but the programme names still stay there.
I have manual deleted the programmes but they are still listed in the remove applications.
If any one can help i will be greatful.
Thanks in advance.
You need to try something like Pocket Mechanic or SK Tools.... I don't know of a freeware version. I use SK Tools cleans out the bad un-installs.

ah ha amen!
I've searched for months for an answer to removing the system tray on WM5 & WM6
Edit your registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/ Software/ HTC/ Trayapplt
Export the Trayapplt string just to be safe you can merge it back if you change your mind.
Once exported delete the Trayapplt string completely and then soft reset your device.
System tray gone and the space is usable
Enjoy
You could have just removed the Init_Tray.lnk in the windows startup folder.
I afraid for most people that doesnt work as they dont even have that link file. I think the difficulty with the system tray is that different people have different circumstances. Some people can remove the int_tray link but If you search the web your'll see a lot of people desperate for a alternative method as they do not have this file on their devices.
It maybe the case that my method may not work for everybody but until someone produces a stable app to remove the system tray we'll keep searching for the best way individually to achieve this.
Sorry, didn't realize that that link didn't exist on all WM devices, but I haven't owned every device to know that. There are however programs that force the system tray such as DotFreds task manager and MyMobiler, etc, which even removing the Init_Tray.lnk doesn't fix because the icons will create their own system tray. Does your fix for it stop them from doing that? If it does, then I might just have to try your fix out for myself.
So far ive been running this setup for 2 days.
I use xcpuscaler which 110% uses a system tray icon whilst running. Ive also minimised many programs and the tray has never reappeared. Im not garenteeing this will work but I do know that its worked perfectly for me.
I hope this helps and if you export the reg as I sugested if the tray doesnt stay hidden for you for some reason then you can always merge it back
Hmm, my kaiser doesn't even have that key so I guess I'm out of luck there. I'm not sure if my wizard does or not, I'm working on cooking a new ROM for it and the ROM I have on it now is kind of messed up. I'll have to check it out when I get my new one cooked though.
fair enough, it seems to be very device related, im talking intensively to a strong programmer to try and sort out something permemantely.
Im running a XDA Orbit (Artemis).
Willl post any findings here
sorry it didnt work for you

Thanks, just joined today and i am now very happy with the fact this hack worked for me
Joined the forum chasing icons and now i think i wont be able to ever leave
Thanks again.....
No TrayApplt in my registry, unfortunately. Still can't figure out how to remove the tray bar on my Vario II (WM5) permanently. Whatever I tried, nothing worked to my satisfaction..
Edit: No Init_Tray.lnk either! Still looking for solutions, every solution is very welcome as long as it works...
Disable system tray for everything

My Tilt doesn't have that key either. I don't use the tray, have it disabled, but Task Manager always creates it again, until I exit Task Manager.
My Wizard doesn't have that key either.
Programs I have found so far that may cause the system tray to appear:
- Dotfred's Task Manager
- My Mobiler
- Pocket Informer
- SOTI's Pocket PC Controller (or similar: I don't recall its name)
- SPB Pocket Plus
All of these can be made to not create a system tray through their respective settings or otherwise, I believe. Currently I have MyMobiler, Dotfred's, Pocket Informer and Pocket Plus installed, and I have no system tray on my Kaiser. The above registry hack didn't work for me.
hi have instaled files and uninstalled many times and other sings and i thin after doing things like that i get unnecessary files every ware and i searshed in google but cant find a software like that can someone help me if you can
hope you can help me
I don't know of any such programs for Windows Mobile, and I'm always leary of those sorts of programs available for PCs.
Generally, your best options are to parse through the directories and manually remove what shouldn't be there (time-consuming and risky) or to do a hard-reset and reinstall only the programs you need. Either way make a backup first.
there is a program called SKTools lite which is free for download, it can clean your sistem from junk files, bad shortcuts, invalid registry entries and so on...
it works on tornado just perfect
ps. don't ask for link noob, learn using google
do you now an other softwares that is good and helpfull
afaik there is no other soft like this
Hey everyone. I'm new here, and I'm hoping you all can help me.
I just upgraded to WM6, and I'm having difficulties personalizing a few things. On WM5 I used to make complete custom skins for the phone and the today screen. Complete with custom buttons for the phone that changed colors when you pressed them. Now that I "upgraded" (HA!) to WM6, it says I'm not allowed to change those bitmaps to ones of my own!
I've read thread after thread, and found a few that said something about Total Commander letting you change the files, but I just couldn't get that to work either.
Does anyone have an answer for this? I would be forever grateful.
Thanks.
Michael
Have you tried to soft reset and then changing file if not they maybe rename the old file and copy the new file. I suggest first to soft reset and before opening any other app replace your files.
Yeah, I have actually tried that, but it won't let me rename the file. I can highlight the name, but it won't change.
I'm thinking about trying to just go back to WM5, is that possible?
To revert back you would just need a wm5 rom. What files are you trying to replace...maybe I can help.
Thanks, I would really appreciate that.
I'm trying to replace these files:

They're in the "windows" folder.
I've tried using Total Commander, and the other was SDA Application Unlock. Maybe I just don't know how to go about using those programs in the correct manner.
I tried to replace these files and I was successful. What I did was use task manager to close as many processes as possible and then through my Windows Explorer replaced the files. If the system does not allow you to change something it's only because it is in use. Try closing as many processes as you can it should work. Once finished soft reset your device and you should be good to go. I replace many of these files myself so if you can't it must be something that is using the file.
Ok, I tried what you said, but I kept getting errors for apparrently end the wrong processes. I'm not too computer saavy, so who knows what I was turning off. Any Idea what programs might have been using them? Should I take a screenshot of my list of processes for you to please check out for me?
Place a screen shot here of your processes after doing a soft reset and I might be able to tell you which to close.
Ok, here's what I got going on... Thanks again, I REALLY appreciate it!

That looks like the processes from windows not the phone.
oooooohhhhh, ok! How do I get into that on the phone? I'll go check the forums to see if I can figure it out...
got a 6.5.3 tp2 with about 50 additional programs runnin off the card. figured I'd clean up the fone's registry..using SK Tolls Lite. sooo, 6 at a time (since the lite version only lets u delete that many at a time), I deleted everything the cleaner would find...thinking the registry backup would save me if there was aproblem.
well... delete delete delete..optimize, reboot..and presto... no more programs in on the start page....and restoring from the backup didn't help. ugh
luckily, i can satill easily access all my faves thru Quick Menu (an AWESOME app btw...does sooo much..closes activesync, makes the "x" a tru app closer, a great way to quickly switch apps..etc.., but I digress). the problem is there's NOTHING on the start page and i no matter what I try, I can't get the standard Settings app bundle...system and personal.. to work.
if anyone has any ideas that could help me avoid a full hard reset, lemme know. dont feel like setting up this fone and al lmy emails, settings, programs, etc..all over again...but i mayhave deleted wayyyy more stuff than i should have so i might have to thanks in advance.
sorry probably not what you want to hear but find a good backup program and hard reset will most likely cure your issue
yeah...want looking forward to it, but was def the best solution to clear it all up. got to reorganize it better too while i was at it so not the worst thing.. thanks anyway!
Hi there, I just have a quick question, if anybody could help me with this I'd be ever so grateful!
I was given a laptop today by somebody on Portland's Craigslist he gave it to me out of the kindness of his heart, wanted nothing in return, and to me that's not very common so I'm shocked and I Hate that I am, but I'm a little weary of it as well. How can I tell if this wonderful person possibly put some kind of hidden program or files or whatever to spy on me in any way? Whether it be for creepy reasons, monetary gain, or just monitoring in general, where would I look for files, or programs that could be a threat? Is there anyway to actually have these programs running and i not know about it? How can I be sure that he has no ties, no connection, nothing to do with this laptop anymore? Even remotely.....?
I need to be sure that my kids are gonna be safe using this laptop, how can I tell if there is Any invasion to our privacy?
I appreciate Any and All help I can get, I do know a little bit about this stuff but not nearly enough to be comfortable using it,
Thank you in advance
Which operating system is installed? The easiest way to be sure is just to format the hard drive and reload Windows...if Windows 10 is installed you can reset it quite easily through settings but if it's older then you'll need a disk or the installation files. If there's any sort of spy software installed it probably won't be obvious or show up as a program anyways.
I recommend a clean install of Windows 10 too. If that's not possible install Malwarebytes and ESET NOD32 antivirus free trial. Update both and do a full deep scan using both programs.
If it has malware or antivirus software already installed, uninstall it and get fresh versions above software. He may have white listed any malware/spyware he installed so when it scans, it won't show up in the detected list.
Also, I recommend a good firewall too. Personally, the built in Windows firewall lacks, but I'm a control freak.
