Deleted Android Market - Hero CDMA Themes and Apps

Hey all, I was trying out a new rom and did a nan backup, but when I went back and restored it. My android market was gone. Anyone know how I can get it back or do i need to completely re-install?

Take the vending.apk out of any 2.1 rom(if you were using 2.1), and push it to /system/app using adb

Titanium backup won't restore apps. Won't even restore new backups!

I'm having some trouble restoring backups. I recently reflashed my phone. All backups were verified. I have used the help button and redownloaded busybox. I have rooted my phone and given root privileges to TiB. I have usb debugging mode enabled too. When I batch restore, the batch completes as if there wasn't a problem, but none of the apps are installed. I thought that there might be something wrong with the backups even though they passed verification so I moved them off of the sd card. I downloaded some random apps from the market and backed them up. They won't restore either. Same error. I tried restoring my phone to stock and going through the same steps and I have the same problem. I've used TiB for awhile now and haven't had any problems up until now. Does anyone have any ideas?
happened to me once.
reinstall from the matket of TIBU fixxed everything.
The first debloat guide posted for the captivate falsely stated that TiB restored the app
When I was attempting to revert to stock firmware for the recent OTA I discovered that TiB only saves the app's state and not the app itself
I think all of the original APKs are listed on the cognition download page
I got it fixed. I tried reinstalling TiB from the market. It didn't work. I was trying 3rd party apps. Not ones cooked into the rom. I ended up having to do a master clear with odin. It's kind of a brute force method, but at least its working again.

Back when the pimp my captivate was written, TB was not able to restore what it backed up. It does now. I reverted back to stock after the OTA update and since I was in the "try to break my phone mood" I went ahead and did the Cognition 2.1.6. Right before I started messing with the phone, I backed up everything and anything that TB would allow me to, did a nandroid as well. WHen the time to restore came, everything I had before is right back where it was before I started. Albeit reading all the oops, TB can't restore jack, yadda yadda I wasn't too worried.
I have the same problem. I recently flashed to froyo 2.2 and the TiB won't let me do the restore...I tried to redone the OneClick Rom but It didn't work on 2.2 so I still need help here.

As far as I know, u can restore apps within the same "version", not between versions. You can restore the apps, but data can't be guaranteed.

D2G Dec 2010 update

Update just got pushed to my D2G.
Find it here on megaupload ... I can't post URLs yet, so sorry about the format.
www[dot]megaupload[dot]com/?d=R7THKZ2V
Blur_Version.2.4.29.A956.Verizon.en.US.zip
(I guess the name of the file is the currently installed one. The date of the file was today, and the contents mention 2.4.330)
I had root when I updated, and the update succeeded ... however I lost root after the update.
z4root re-established root.
Versions after update are:
System version: 2.4.330.A956.Verizon.en.US (new)
Android version: 2.2
Baseband version: N_01.48.05R (new)
Kernel version: 2.6.32.9-g9e2c63d (new)
PRL version: 52169
great thanks for that i have been looking for this bc i cant get the update over wifi only afaik, have you tried using z4root after the update?
Yes - z4root works fine after the new update.
I just downloaded the update OTA and tried to install it, i got an update failed message not sure why. Do you have to restore the phone to factory settings (unroot) before you can install the update?
I watched my phone try and install it this time and an icon appeared on the sceeen that looked like a cigarette box with an arrow coming out of it.. what does this mean? haha
i wouldnt think you would have to do a hard reset before you do the update

Mine was rooted, but I had not changed any of the standard packages.
The only thing I used root for was to underclock it for slightly better battery life.
If you have removed/replaced any packages on the phone, you probably need to restore them back to the system default again. A device wipe might not even fix that as the packages will still be the replaced versions.
Hmm i froze a bunch of programs with titanium back and up and renamed a few things with root explorer , perhaps this is why.
Official OTA update from VZW will always fail if you have changed anything at all in the system directory. The updater script has checksum routines for all parts of the system and must be completely stock or it won't work.
This is true for all new Motorola phones from VZW.
^^^ that is exactly the case! Restore all stock and try again.
Being rooted will not fail the update, but altering anything in /system will.

Ok hmm i have made various restore points with rom manager since starting, im just not sure how to restore my backups? Where do you go within the rom manager directory?
I deleted some stock apps would a hardreset restore them? So I could do the update
No, hardreset will not bring the deleted stock apps back. You need to manually restore them.
Hmm anyone on how to restore your old back ups using rom manager? .. i cant seem to find a decent guide
Anybody noticing lower call volume since the update?

with koush's bootstrap recovery it's just reboot into recovery. go to backup and restore and choose your backup to restore. If you only have Rom manager you might be out of luck because afaik it's recovery doesn't work on the D2, D2G, or DX.
My wifes droid 2 global had lots of apps frozen. Update installed fine from OTA. Lost root, havn't tried to reroot yet.

I just installed a ROM to my Infuse...

I just installed a new ROM to my phone. CM7 f.y.i.
Well, all my apps are gone. I expected this, but how can I get them back? I backed up my old ROM. Can I get them from there?

BEFORE you switched ROMs you need to use Titanium back up...There are others but tibu has never failed me. use it to back up alluser apps and data ...never back up and restore system stuff it always creates problems. Then when you flash a new rom you go to mkt and install tibu again and restore missing aps with data. easy to use and a life saver.

Erased "com.android.providers.calendar"

I deleted this by accident using Titanium Back Up. Is there a way I can replace it other than going back to recovery?
Thanks
apk, anyone please?

[Q] Go back from EOS4 to EOS3 or rooted stock 4.1.2

I have xoom 604 running latest EOS4. I have issues playing some old games that played fine on EOS3 155. I'm planning to give this tablet to my father. He will be using it mostly for web, book reading and some gaming. So the questions are:
1. Should I downgrade back to EOS3? If yes, anything I need to watch out for coming from 4.2.2 to 4.1.2 running latest TWRP 2.6
2. Should I keep it at EOS4?
3. downgrade it to rooted stock 4.1.2
Thanks in advance
Anybody?

Sorry I dont have the answer but Im also looking to go back to a stock Rom. Do you have the stock rom or a link to one.
I went back to EOS 3 v155 and very happy with it. There is a link to rooted 4.1.2 stock. I would never go back to unroot.

Why is root so necessary, Perhaps cause im old now and dont mess with my devices like I used to Im missing something. At this point I just want reliability over anything else. Been using EOS 3 stable and its locks up and acts weird initially just about every time I go to use it.
Because I can back up everything and remove ads. Try 155 it's better, but do a fresh install wipe everything.

Thanks for responding, Its been a while since I did anything what do you mean by wipe everything.
In recovery do factory reset. You can backup users(only) apps with TB. After install, let android restore your apps and if you need restore backed up apps+data from TB

So do the factory defalt in my current rom then install the new one, do a Ti back up before and save it to my card
yes
Have you given 4.2.2 a spin? It runs quite well on my Xoom.
That wasn't the question , was it? My xoom has issues running some games on EOS4 that runs fine on EOS3. I was giving to my family member who wants to play those games.

same here, please help anyone...

Back up your apps( not system apps) with TB. Find BT back folder and copy BT backup folder to your computer. You might have to copy TB backup folder to download folder first before copying it out to pc, eitherwise you may not see when connected to pc. Wipe everything including internal storage in TWRP. In TWRP mount usb and copy latest working EOS3 and EOS3 gapps into the Xoom. Install ROM and GAPPS. After first boot google should restore all apps you had installed before than copy TB backup folder back.
Hope this helps.
