Can the bottom cover be bought anywhere? - Nexus One Accessories

Hi,
I dropped my N1 some time ago; surprisingly enough after bouncing a couple times and sliding through concrete face-down, it still worked and was in top condition, no scratches on the screen. The bottom cover was dented though, with a piece of the black plastic layer showing.
I would like to know, is there any way to get one of those covers, to replace the damaged one? Apparently it's pretty easy to remove them.

Warranty? lol
Sent from my Nexus One using the XDA mobile application powered by Tapatalk

I don't think the warranty is going to cover damages caused by dropping the phone. I'm also abroad (writing from Spain) so probably sending it back is not an option.

HTC UK definitely have them, whether they'd ship you one is anyone's guess.

Definitely worth finding out. What would be the best way to contact them? By mail? By phone? Do they have a "replacements" department that I should address to?

Just call 'em I guess, mine was replaced under warrenty by them as it wasn't the best fit from factory.

i would call them if i were you.
i just got off the phone with HTC repair support. my battery cover was stained with ink and it wouldn't come off. jokingly i asked if that was covered by warranty, he said YES!!!
they are shipping me a new one this week, for free!!!

Given that the blotches on the antenna cover seem to be caused by the lovely little neoprene pouch, it's fair that it should be covered I reckon.

Just wanted to said that I called HTC UK this morning and they said I can send my phone for repair but I'll probably get charged since the scratch is my fault. I don't think I'll do that.

[POLL] Did you remove the paint on your ear-piece?

It appears to be a very common problem that the black paint on the Captivate's ear-piece has a tendency to scratch off VERY easily.
I am curious as to know how many people actually got fed up with trying to repair this awful blemish; and decided to just scratch all the paint off to make it look better.
Personally I removed the black paint completely and kind of like the silver that remains.
What are your thoughts?
What? I've never heard anyone mention this. My paint is fine.
first I've heard of this, and mine is just fine as well.
The paint literally flaked off of mine just by rubbing my thumb on it.
No issues here, maybe you got a defective model?

This is bizarre I've never heard of this happening lol
If my model is defective, I don't think they would ever replace it because it's physical damage.
no problem here either,,if they sound good your good to go

I actually don't talk on the device very often, I'm more so a texter
Anyway, it was more from putting the phone in and out of my pocket:
Here is a picture I just took:

Mine is fine and i carry it in my pocket with no case. I would think that the piece would be annodized and not painted. Probably got one with a bad grille. If you complain enough they may replace it - hard to say.
In all honesty, it literally started as a small chip in the "paint"; I touched that up with a sharpie.
Next day I had another chip, I rubbed it with my thumb and more came off - at that moment I decided to just rub the rest off and it just flaked away into dust.
Never thought of it....My phone is a tool not a piece of jewelery. Scratches and blemishes don;t bother me. I don;t use a s case and carry it in my pocket with keys and crap. I do use a screen protector though. As far as paint goes...Meh..not worth worrying about of "fixing"

black one s fell and got scratched, return with reason of mao failure?

If you're getting scratches that AREN'T due to the fall, then you should be able to return it. HTC has said that anyone with issues with it can return their device. Despite the damage that the fall caused, the MAO coating is faulty, and you should be good to go.
well i only had 2 scratches from the mao issues, that´s why i´m asking if it looks different from mao failure or does it look like real scratches ?
Those pics are way too blurry to take a guess.
What you dropped it on? Rocks, pavement, wooden front porch? The chips or flakes of MAO come off pretty clean, I guess if HTC gets a phone that has clearly visible scratches next to a "chip" they could decline free repair, because those scratches are a pretty sure fire way to tell.
Circumstancial
It depends. If you're going to take it back to a retailer, it'll be a coin toss. Due to Loss Prevention policies implemented by many retailers, they've become more and more stringent on exchanges. If you're willing to send it to HTC, I'm sure they'll send you a new/refurbished one since they've acknowledged the MAO issue.
Couldn't hurt to try.
But still it depends much on the way you dropped it (and on what). Mine fell from my pocket the other day and didn't get as scratched as one would have expected.
But I'm one of them with "a lucky phone" that doesn't have the flaw coating issue
If you put some good effort into it - you will most likely get it repaired.
i have been at the retailer´s store and showed them the "coating issues", they asked if i have my bill and everything with me (i didn´t because i just wanted to check if it is possible) and they said i should come back with everything and then i will get a new phone
edit: i have to unroot/relock bootloader if i´m returning it right?
Recommended
It's recommended that you wipe your phone to get rid of any personal information but most retailers won't check to see if the phone is rooted. As long as you are still at the stock ROM, then the sales associate may or may not have the ability to tell you have rooted it but they will most likely not care.

Has anyone seen cracks in their screen "Just Appear" ?

Found this thread on googles forums where users are claiming that cracks are "just appearing" for no reason, that they wake up and the crack fairy has paid them a visit. Just sounded a little off.

I guess it is physically possible if there is a lot of stress in the glass for whatever reason. But IMHO it's more likely they dropped it and spontaneously developed amnesia so they can get a replacement.

I've had this happen on a S3. The phone itself felt really fragile when I bought it tho. Here is what happened - I dropped the phone on some tile, picked it up and it was absolutely fine. 24 hours later i'm playing with it - still fine- and then fall asleep. I wake up and it has a huge crack across the screen.
My theory is that the initial drop weakened the glass and it then cracked while I was sleeping from temperature changes or something. Either way it didn't matter, credit card company replaced it for me for free. The replacement felt strong as a rock compared to the original. Anyways, It pays to discover!

Maybe the temperature difference made it crack. That happened before with the nexus 4.
They probably had it in the freezer trying to run benchmarks after turning off the thermal limit or whatever.

HTC Letter fell out

Today the glue filled into the C that is engraved in the back of the phone came out. I'm kinda an HTC fanboy so this left me pretty upset.... My camera lens is also really scratched up. Has anyone dealt with this issue and how was it handled?

Someone else mentioned this happening. HTC offered to fix the phone which meant the owner would be without the device for ~10 days. You may look into seeing if VZW will swap it out.

Slickwraps sells lens protectors, but that's probably a moot point since it's already scratched. However, buying some protection might help prevent further damage.

Inner screen protector failure.

All of the sudden this morning started peeling off from the center. There is hard bump under this spot from day 1 when you fully open the hinge. Now what? Remove completely or take it to the Samsung service center to apply new one? The whole purpose of keeping this phone because of beautiful big screen is now gone. Time to dust off my "old" Note 20 Ultra?

That sucks.
This why I loathe these phones.
I would send it back to Samsung; don't make their mistakes yours.
Personally I'd press them for a full refund.
This technology isn't ready for prime time.
No more exploding batteries but still the Fold screens continue to fail...

Just peel it off and install an aftermarket one. It is so much better than what the phone came with. That's what I did and I love it. Took me about 7 protectors til I found one I liked. I'm partial to the matte ones. The screen is resilient, i just yanked mine off. Some leave it off and have never been happier.

There shouldn't be any bumps underneath. There could be some small particle lodged in there. Go to the service center, get them to repair under warranty or better yet, ask for a replacement or refund.
