HBOOT-1.33.0010
Please proceed at your own risk. These worked for me. should work for all the HTC Magics in India. Dont know about the others.
Steps -
1. Download Recovery Flasher 1.4. Backup recovery image.
2. Download Amon_RA's RAv1.2.1H modded recovery image. Copy it at root of sd card. Rename it recovery.img
3. In Recover Flasher type “/sdcard/recovery.img”
4. Download "Engineering SPL 1.33.2005".(No other SPLs worked for me). Copy to root of memory card. Rename it to update.zip
5. Download any 32a Custom ROM (I used Amon_RA's). Copy to root of memory card. Rename to ROM.zip
5. Reboot in Recovery mode. (home+power). Backup with Nandroid.
6. Apply from sd card - update.zip. Reboot from menu after it says so. It will again boot into recovery mode. Seems to be stuck on "Clearing Cache....".
7. Reboot by pressing back+power. Check SPL is changed to 1.33.2005. Then power down.
8. Reboot into Recovery. Apply any zip from SD - ROM.zip
9. Once it is finished, WIPE THE PHONE from the recovery menu.
10. Reboot into a new android world.
Never used a Gold card. Those SPL's don't seem so perfect anymore.

Please be aware that this method (using Zinx's recovery flasher) will probably NOT work for firmwares released after August 2009...
Will the SPL 1.33.2010 work, my magic is waiting for the fix to perfect SPL, i already bricked a my touch and dont want such to appen with my new 32a

when I was root on my Magic, but after that, I cant do anything custom, not even flash in any way, so my root rights are gone and can never be regained?

Just use Goldcard method to root... It's the only way I've found for that SPL

You have root already.
Post your adb output:
adb shell id

Functionality of using goldcard is ONLY avoiding check for Customer ID.
And now what? can I flash just the eng 2005 spl? If so, would the procedure described in post no 1(this thread) would do the trick?

As you have SPL 1.33.0010 and phone 32A you may flash rather SPL 1.33.2010 (same in my signature)

SPL is like BIOS at computer. You only flash engineering SPL via recovery and nothing more.
If you want try some custom ROMs (with SenseUi or with Droid UI) you may do it via recovery too. But beware official RUU updates and updates, which contained hboot

I had a goldcard created just in case. All I had to do is to flash the spl from the recov menu.
worked like a charm.
From now on, can I attempt to flash any rom I want? For now I should keep away from RUUs right?

Yes. But use only Roms with tag [32A]
p.s. Cursorsense is not compatible with SPL 1.33.XXXX
yeap, I was reading the entire cursorsense thread now. I intend to update the radio and the spl to try the rom.
From spl 1.33.2010 i can simply flash 1.76 required for cursor right? and the radio also; I've read that there's a way to return to 1.33.2010 eng spl if I would like to try other roms.
What I don't understand, why this limitation to that specific spl ver from cursorsense rom? it is not based on 1.5 cupcake? This is still pretty unclear to me. Is it because of the kernel 3.x ?

Couldn't find any topics about having problems with rooting HTC branded magic devices after applying _HTC Magic_RUU_Sapphire_HTC_Europe_2.20.401.2_HTC_Nordic_release_signed_NoDriver ROM from offical HTC home page, so have to ask.
Situation: HTC branded magic (32A). Before applying above mentioned RUU, tryed to root my phone. Everything perfect, but than i applyed backup from recovery flasher. Than installed this nordic RUU and it is not possible to root device using recovery flasher any more.
So how to root this device? Any ideas? I can't even downgrade to basic HTC provided ROM i had before.
Spec: SAPPHIRE PVT 32A SHIP S-ON H
HBOOT - 1.33.0014 (SAPP10000)
CPLD - 12

I get to this point "- It should pick up the sappimg.zip and you should be able to flash it." and than it says: "Main Version is older!" and that's it. Where do i go wrong?
UPD.: Tryed this file (ROM v2.53.707.2) and those two manuals (http://vivekgolecha.blogspot.com/2009/08/as-promised-i-said-i-would-come-up-with.html and http://mariusmadsen.dk/2009/11/25/how-to-root-a-danish-htc-magic-from-3/) to get everything working.

I think I successfully made a goldencard. But it wont boot from the goldencard what ever i put on it. i get some error "no or wrong image

I used the guides topic creator linked to and it worked except that I can't flash my recovery program. Are you using Fastboot with USB connection to your PC?
yes i do, but i get an error.

thats when the phone is in fastboot usb, when the phone is started normally I just get waiting for device. But i know I have connection because when i run adb devices i get the serial number
This ROM is a nearly stock 1.6 Donut ROM, based on the T-Mobile MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition. It has all of the T-Mobile apps in it too.
Thanks to crypysmoker for testing some rather dangerous SPL/radio stuff on his phone.
Requirements for this ROM
- MyTouch 3G Limited Fender Edition OR MyTouch 3G 1.2
- Rooted recovery environment
- Stock MT3G 32A Radio and SPL
---- Radio: 2.22.23.02
---- SPL: 1.33.0013
---- Amon_RA Sapphire G Recovery
- Ability to read and comprehend English for the instructions
Downgrade/root your MyTouch3g 1.2/Fender using the normal means. I think the goldcard method works. Check this thread for more information. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=622530.
After rooting, you will have a 32A phone that will not (at this point) have a working touchscreen on any ROM.
Download and extract this ZIP file. http://www.theandroidkitchen.com/fileshare/MyTouch3g32A/?download=MT3GStockRadioSPL.zip
Boot into FASTBOOT, flash the radio, then the SPL/HBOOT, then Amon_RA Sapphire G recovery, then press Menu to power off your phone. Boot into recovery and you now can flash this ROM. Make sure that you flash the radio, SPL and recovery at the same time without rebooting in between.

I don't have one of these phones, so I'm not sure what works and what doesn't, but I hope this gets you guys back up and running without reverting to the T-Mobile non-rooted ROM. crypysmoker is testing most functions out right now.

Here's your stock SPL and radio. I warn you though, don't flash the SPL. Use the 1.33.2010 SPL. I'll post a link to that as well.
1.33.2010 SPL
Stock MT3G 1.2 32A SPL and Radio
Extract the SPL/Radio ZIP File and put hboot-1.33.2010.img and the radio.img into one folder. Download the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery.

Since I followed Amen ras instructions after reading them 100 times.. I for the life of me cannot figure out how I got this to say 32b. it makes no sense to me at all unless there was a major revision to the NAND or other hardware for these
its also doing the fun part like it did when I went to your rom/radio to where recovery just will not boot.

I flashed through flashboot ... Ive been messing with G1's for a while so I know my way around a tiny bit. its just this phone is pain in the tuckus.

It's worth trying the stock SPL, see if that alone changes the 32B to 32A.
If you have Amon_RA Recovery installed and not the stock recovery, you should be able to leave the Stock SPL flashed.
First flash the stock radio, then the stock SPL, then flash the Amon_RA Sapphire H recovery, then 'fastboot reboot-bootloader' to see if your changes worked.

Wouldn't advise it.. it's Fender only (RADIO-2.22.23.02).
Try this Fender rom instead if you want to try it with your current radio/SPL.

DO NOT FLASH IT... those are only for the fender as they are the only ones that allow for anythign to work properly. flashing them to your board may kill your phone

I had to update my phone with the above rom in RUU mode because it was stuck in RUU mode and couldnt do anything. I have a goldcard created but I dont know what SPL to install because of the rom version. would anybody be so kind as to helping me what to do next. Thanks.
Go in fastboot by pressing back+power (while your phone is switched off) and tell as what your SPL and radio version is. I suspect it's a 1.33.xx.xx SPL and 3.22.xx.xx radio, but you should better tell us in order to help you.

Im on a 32b, S-ON H.
Are you sure it's 32B, S-ON H. If it's 32B, it should be S-ON G. Be very careful. If you flash your 32B Magic with a ROM that is meant for a 32A, you may brick your phone.

what originally happened is that i accidentally flashed my phone with an 32a RUU update, which didnt finish and got stuck on the RUU mode screen. I flashed it with an arabic RUU and i now my phone is up and running again. That is definitely what comes up on the fastboot screen. Is there a 32b RUU that I can update to? or can i root my phone?
Official 3.03.990.6 SenseUI ROM for Vodafone - is where I got the rom from.
You should follow the instructions on this post. A friend of mine did the same thing and I used those instructions to install Amon_RA's ROM for 32B Magic.
Since you' ve already installed the Arabic ROM, you should do the rest:
Then follow below link to root the phone:

Then start phone recovery mode and update the SPL to ENG SPL 1.33. 2005 from below link:

Put the flashrec.apk in the androidsdk folder. From a command prompt (the path should be that of your androidsdk folder) run:
Code:
adb install flashrec.apk
Put the exact name of the flashrec app you downloaded.

after i did a gold card and i preform the sappimg.zip to put back in cupcakes it stay on the first spalsh on vodaphone! It fastboot and hboot but dosnt do no recovery image can someone be very kind and post a corect sappimg.zip or what can i do to make it work please
Hm, a tmobile mytouch 32A? Do you have the one with the headphone jack? (Just wanna clarify that first)
i think my touch 3G is 32B.... from T-Mobile I guess 32B too...
cause many 32A only used HTC brand in front of the handset...

Wipe from recovery
I had the same problem, but its a quick fix... just boot into recovery and wipe data, then wipe dalvik cache, reboot and your good to go

he can't get to recovery
hey ppl yeah its the mytouch 3g black its a 32a s on h yes it have the headphones jack on top... i can get to the fastboot and hboot but not to the recovery i i load the recovery emage tru my pc on the pc said okay but the phone stay on the first splash and its giving me i vodaphone splash i belive the sappimg.zip wasnt rigth cus everthing was perfect i create a gold card i insert the sappimg in the gold card so i can put it back to cupcake and that happend
i create a new gold card i insert a sappimg.zip from (arom) thread it said
1 bootloader ok
2 radio_v2 ok
3 recovery ok
4 splash ok
5 system unzipping and its stay there dosnt do nothin else for hrs dosnt unzip it
why???????
You arent using the correct SAPPimg for one, you need to use Amen Ra's 2010 Ion rom/nbh. Name it SAPPIMG.zip
You need to use the G recovery NOT THE H.
